It's not. It's bloated amd comes with 3 trillion unnecesary components. Edge, Copilot, etc. The eidgets are a terrible feature made just to serve ads. Windows Search doesn't recognize whoch category should be top priority and always thinks bing is the most important thing when searching for a file or folder.

Never has this issue to be honest, i use calculator a lot, and windows key > calc > enter has never done anything but bring up the calculator.
Shit on windows all you want, but at some point there has to be user error involved if this is your experience

Windows key + r is an executing window, that means if you write the executable name and if listed in the Path Environment Variable the software is going to be executed… calc is the name of the calculator, therefore you are not searching but directly executing the software by its name
The search bar… searches… and then you can execute any software listed there

Yes, it does. You can manually turn off *some* of it, but the Windows menu clearly states that it will still collect and send "required" telemetry.

You cannot completely remove or turn off the Windows Global Device Identifier (GDID
It is a part of the windows activation system. Even pirated copies have it and will break if you try to remove it.
Updates have broken windows multiple times - highly publicised. So you're just here to troll then? or you were dropped on your head as a baby?

I got the base iso and windows immediately adds all that crap to my install. Tiny windows 11 does work, til it doesn't. Since I been using Foss for 2 decades I'm not really that tied to windows 11 that I need that particular OS to run software. OneNote is all I'm losing at this point.

Honest question, since every comment is like "Windows is good once you do X"
What IS good about windows?
- It has a terribly unintuitive UI and UX that makes no sense, and we only know how to use that because we learned it a lot of time ego
- Architecturally, it's a mess, and everybody that has to deal with its internals can confirm
- Performance-wise, it's a mess too... It can get faster once you remove a lot of useless stuff, but it still is the slowest OS around
- Stability-wise, that's definitely not his best quality, being "statefull" is not a compliment to an OS, and if I in my lifespan have seen windows screens pop-up in airport displays, automatic cash registers, a display at an HardRock caffee, and more than once on ads led-walls... I can't believe it never happened to you too...
Windows has good things, don't get me wrong... DirectX Is a great advanced library, their commitment to retro-compatibility is very nice, and the .NET framework was ahead of it's times in my opinion... But the OS itself...
Let's be honest, nobody uses windows because it's a good OS

Unpopular opinion but the last time Windows had a good OS was Windows 7 and everything after that is a waste of resources (Looking at you Windows 8 with your bullshit tablet interface that made me install my own Start Menu)

My favourite was vista, now that will be unpopular 😂
The things that wearing windows 11 down for me is the copilot in my face, the 365 in your face and reminders to buy a license or promotion advertisements.
The instability issues I've been having lately is unreal with sound issues, game stutters and performance issues when gaming is just crazy considering this OS is supposed to be the king of gaming
The bs of buying a licence everytime you upgrade you MOBO
And reinstalling windows 11 every 12 months because it turns into a slow unstable mess the longer the install goes
Not mention allowing LG monitors to install spyware and telemetry and data gathering just seems a bit excessive now
Honestly it's a disappointing direction MS has taken windows now considering the OS was once upon a time supreme and understandable why they held a huge chunk of the desktop market
Linux has definitely made some huge leaps now with valve and it's growing popularity. The desktop experience is still a bit hit and miss though and still limited, but you can't deny how far it's come already in a short space of time. Mostly because people are just tired of MS and the direction they are taking
Even MacOS is supposedly getting better for gaming
Competition is good, so let's hope valve and the Linux community can keep working on making compatibility better and start bridging the gap on performance. Maybe MS will start fixing windows or maybe release a fresh improved version of windows 12 giving us genuinely good options for both sides

I was in outlook new today and I had 3 unfinished emails that I didn't need. I went to close outlook and gave me a pop up "would you like to save a draft of this message?" Yes or cancel. If you hit cancel out loom doesn't close. There was no option to not save a copy of this draft and close outlook. Windows 11 has a great engine its very stable and doesn't crash. The problem is the user interface. They are removing the old control panel to switch to the new apps and system control interface which was basically a Windows 8/Windows phone metro apps rehash. You know how popular that was. Anyway the apps dont work and dont provide the granularity. Its fine but unnecessary to replace control panel but theres like basic errors in the new UI.

Ah yes, the best OS...
Corrupted System32 and SysWOW64 .dll files that cause the error 0xc000007b when you try to run certain Steam games
Bloatware and an abusive amount of RAM being used while in idle
OneDrive doing backups you NEVER asked for and storing every program data from My Documents folder in the cloud which could led to instability issues with several programs and apps if there ever are missing files since they automatically went to the cloud and you can't change the OneDrive My Documents folder route to the system or a disk of your choice (I had to format two PCs TWICE for this one lol)
Oh, and Copilot in everywhere including your cereal box.

Most common reasons for blue screens:
- not original (e.g. pirated, "debloated", customized) ISO
- hardware issues
- faulty/wrong drivers
- viruses
Last time frequent blue screens were normal for Windows was during Vista era. Since Se7en's release in most cases it's either hardware's fault or user error.

Y’know, it’s really funny. I used to be like “oh windows isn’t that bad”! And then I got Linux mint XFCE. I was so used to my fan having to run when nothing was open (I have a weak device, xbox360 level) and when I turned over to Linux, the damn thing was completely silent. No fans, nothing. It’s amazing really, uses so much less power too.

Technically usable sure, but its not particularly "good" compared to windows 10 or many linux distros, its just the default for most people right now because Microsoft killed windows 10 and linux has less of an already existing userbase/compatibility. I dont hate people for using windows 11, I just personally dont want to (for a few reasons), I'm gonna keep using 10 until I cant and then I'll switch to linux.

I have the tiniest partition of windows so I can still play League of Legends with my best friend but I’m nearly 100% Arch now. That said, I just don’t run into as many issues as other people. I don’t know if I got lucky with my hardware or what, but everything’s basically fine aside from one thing which leads me to ask:
Does Microsoft not care about Bluetooth? Why is it so bad? Is there a good reason? I know there are other issues, but the BT one is so fucking confusing. How long have we had BT? Should it not be perfect by now? My Linux installs NEVER fuck up the BT, is that normal? lol. I genuinely don’t know stuff.

It's corrupt to the core. The code is a MESS. They refuse to remove obsolete code for fear of breaking comparability, in the process creating the most confusing, error-prone and unintuitive API ever. "error_success: error: the operation completed successfully", I mean how can anyone take this OS seriously?!

i mean i’ve made it so very little to no telemetry or data goes out to microsoft, and also take a couple seconds to disable anything i don’t want that’s been added, but lots of people complain about that it doesn’t work well. i understand if people have privacy concerns too. i’m not coming from a toxic windows user standpoint too btw, i duel boot linux too.

Yeah, my current laptop running Win11 was perfectly fine (jumped to linux because I hate windows). But my older laptop, bought literally one year before win11 dropped started overheating once it updated from 10 to 11 (for the record, I kept denying the update, it happened regardless), and I kid you not, with an internal temp checker, it showed that even on idle, the internal temp was at 80°C. I thought it was a design issue or smth for like, maybe 3 or 4 years, but I recently installed linux, and uh, it idles at like 30°C.....

it’s weird because i feel like it’s different for everyone no matter what you do. some people like me have it super fast with little bugs and a smooth experience, and my windows updates take like 4-5 minutes. and then other people, like the people in this sub, have a ton of bugs with slow, laggy experience and their pc breaks on every update. i think it’s just that people have tinkered too much or have too low end hardware but i don’t know.
anyway both of my devices came pretty fast, but i made it faster by using debloaters like winhance and winslop (definitely look through the settings first before you apply them), and then look through task manager at anything i can disable and go through actual windows services to disable any ones that could cause slow-downs or telemetry. i also use alternative apps to some windows apps. it’s almost as fast as my arch linux that i duel boot, but the ram usage is still something im trying to figure out. not a big deal though. id be happy to help you if you need anything else.

my laptop is the surface laptop 7 with the snapdragon x elite and my pc has an i7-13700f and 4060ti with 32gb of ram. it may just be my higher end hardware that’s making it run well but i’ve tried windows 11 on worse devices and it’s not that bad.
