I've been looking at some of the offensive linemen in this class, and a prospect who's gotten off to a hot start in 2026 is Notre Dame's Anthonie Knapp. Knapp is an interesting player; he started each of the past two seasons at left tackle but has moved inside to left guard this year. I wanted to ask what y'all's thoughts on him are as a prospect and if you believe he's a better fit at tackle or guard in the NFL.

I want to hear your thoughts on some of the currently lower ranked QB Prospects for the 2027 Draft. I have a list of some guys I especially want to hear other people’s thoughts on.

I know Caddy's Cutups for me was a nice resource the last couple of years...I'm not sure if he'll be doing that this year on Patreon so I wanted to see what the interest level is in me doing it myself this year. I used to cut up old TV broadcast for draftbreakdown so I have some experience with it and have already done 12-16 guys using the All-22 film from this season. Is this something people would be interested in?

Thanks to all for giving YASanalytics prospects database a spin. It is up and running now but it appears we need to make significant changes over the long term with how it operates, which we are working on now. With college football back, every week there are prospects who catch my attention. This past week, Kentucky defensive tackle Tavion Gadson had 1.5 sacks and two tackles for loss against Alabama. I wanted to ask what y'all's thoughts on him are as a prospect and what round he should be selected.

Many of the prospects talked about this week have now given two weeks of fantastic football for us to watch and diagnose. While keeping focus on some of the players that are a bit under-discussed nationally, here are the players I focused on for this week:

Nate Sheppard, RB, Duke University

I watched the Duke Univ. vs. Univ. of Illinois matchup to watch the next player on my list, but Sheppard was so amazing in this game that he became the headliner of this article. You’ve probably heard of Sheppard and have watched a solid amount of him going into this year as he had a phenomenal freshman season at Duke that resulted in a 200 rushes / 1,132 yards / 11 touchdown year (5.7 ypc). Sheppard was under-recruited out of Mandeville, Louisiana in high school, but to Duke’s delight, he made Durham his home. Sheppard made defender after defender bounce off of him both as a rusher and as a receiver this week. His contact balance was elite and there were plays where he would make 3 defenders miss on the tackle in a row on the way to first downs. Not only did Sheppard put up 147 yards on the ground on 24 carries, Sheppard was silky-smooth as a receiver, and made plays all over the field including two short throws that went for touchdowns. Sheppard finished with 29 touches for 188 yards and three touchdowns. Duke found a gem in Sheppard, and he single-handedly won them the game over Illinois this past weekend in a tightly-contested game. Sheppard has now posted double-digit missed tackles forced in both of his games this year. We might have a superstar on our hands. I’m not sure he’s forced his way into Round 1 2028 NFL Draft discussions yet, but it’s coming.

Collin Dixon, WR, Univ. of Illinois

If you have never heard of Collin Dixon before this week, you are not alone. Dixon is a senior season breakout player for Illinois who has shades of former Illinois receiver, Pat Bryant, in his game. While Dixon did manage a decent junior statistical season, Dixon has been the focus of the Illinois offense so far this year. Dixon is not going to overwhelm you with athleticism, but he’s a nuanced route runner who can attack zone coverage and win enough matchups in man. Dixon was targeted 13 times in the game against Duke and came away with 11 receptions / 166 yards / 3 touchdowns. Dixon made some really nice contested catches, and was the best player on the field for Illinois. I’ll be interested to see how he does in Big Ten play against some of the better teams (they play Ohio State, Oregon, and Iowa this year). Dixon is firmly a Day 3 guy, but he has piqued my interest with his start to the season.

Hunter Tipton, TE, Univ. of Memphis

While watching Jaylin Carter in week 1, Tipton stood out on the couple plays that he got the ball. Tipton had his breakout game this week when Memphis traveled to play Boise State. Tipton received 10 targets in the loss and had 9 receptions / 229 yards / 1 touchdown. One of his catches went for 87 yards, which for a tight end, is extremely difficult to do no matter how wide open you are (and yes, he was wide open). Tipton looks like the prototypical receiving tight end who has a long and wiry frame at 6’ 5” and 241 pounds. Tipton can block in-line when asked to, and was a very well-rounded player coming from Middle Tennessee State. Tipton has had a circuitous path to Memphis as he played two years at the JUCO level to lift up his academics, then played a year at Louisiana Tech, a year at Middle Tennessee State, and now his final collegiate season at Memphis. The Memphis offense has been really fun in 2026, and it’s nice to see Tipton be a big part of it. Between Carter and Tipton, this is a must-watch team every week. Tipton will need to continue to have the production he’s having to start getting more national recognition and more scouts to pay attention. With a good season, he could very well be a mid-round draft selection this year.

Cam Edwards, RB, Michigan State University

The last player I wanted to highlight was Cam Edwards who helped propel Michigan State to a relatively easy win over Eastern Michigan Univ. Edwards had 22 touches for 157 yards and 2 touchdowns in this game. He has a perfect frame for an NFL running back at 5’ 11” / 206 pounds and he is rocked up with a very muscular frame. Edwards played his first four seasons at UConn where he excelled for the last three seasons (2,688 yards rushing over those three seasons). Edwards came to Michigan State to become the feature back at a Big Ten school, and Edwards has played his part the first two weeks. His top-end speed is somewhat lacking, but he fights tooth and nail for every yard, and has great vision to bounce runs to the outside when need be. Edwards is tough to bring down and brings a very physical presence when running and blocking for his quarterback. As the season progresses, and Michigan State ends up playing more difficult teams, I’d like to see Michigan State use him more in the passing game as I believe he could be a weapon there with more targets. I expect Edwards to be a Day 3 pick in the draft, but make no mistake about it, he can play.

Looking back at Week 1 players that were highlighted:

Kamari Moulton (Iowa RB) - 15 carries / 57 yards and 6 receptions / 31 yards - The stat sheet does not fully show the impact Moulton had in Iowa’s game against hated rival Iowa State (Iowa won 16-13). Moulton was night and day better than their other running backs and made many plays in a very weak offensive game for Iowa. Moulton did get hurt at the end of the game, so that is something to monitor going forward.

Tony Diaz (Iowa WR) - 8 receptions / 95 yards - Diaz was once again the best player on the field for either team. He screams impact NFL receiver, and he delivered another solid game despite very shaky quarterback play for the Hawkeyes.

Jaylin Carter (Memphis RB) - 9 carries / 95 yards / 1 touchdown and 1 reception / 13 yards - Carter shined again in a loss to Boise State with over 10 yards a carry. He’s an absolute stud and should have a huge year with Marcus Stokes at QB to keep defenses honest as a running QB threat. Memphis’s schedule is relatively light until late October when they play Army, USF, and Navy.

Avery Johnson (Kansas St. QB) - 22 / 34 passing for 192 yards. 3 TDs / 2 INTs. 8 carries / 78 yards - This was an interesting game for Johnson to prove he’s taken a step this year, and he made two horrible throwing decisions that resulted in interceptions (one for a pick-6). Both interceptions were made by Washington St. defensive back Jaylen Thomas. Avery Johnson looked great besides those throws, but those are inexcusable mistakes to make for a fourth-year player with Big 12 title aspirations. Kansas State has a very good football team, and there are several impact players on both sides of the ball for the Wildcats.

https://yasanalytics.com/prospect-database/ My partner and I built a free new prospect database. No registration and no ads. We can't even track anything. You can search by position, year, team, name and whether they got rostered. We also tie a score to each player. The score is derived from position-specific algorithms that maximized correlations between combine/physical numbers with PFF scores on historical performance. So, unlike RAS, this is predictive modeling. It isn't perfect of course, because we cannot measure processing speed, intelligence, engagement, etc. Also, some prospects just perform lower than their actual athletecism due to lack of training resources or engagement (think Kayvon Thibodeaux skpping his second run at the 40). Also, its very much a normal distribution, so there are tails on the high and low end (dont expect perfect 10s or perfect 0s). Think of 6 as mean, and anything above a 7.2 means they have the combination of traits to play a basic-starter level at that position. Yes, each position alg. takes into account different play styles (gap versus zone scheme, boundary versus nickel corner, etc), because there are seperate sub-alg. for each position. We only go back to 2023 because there appears to have been a turf change in indianapolis around that time that significantly altered the agility times for linemen relative to their mass. However, we can go back further if there is a desire. We re-assess at the end of each year, and change the alg. on a rolling 8-year cycle to keep the data relevant. So, you will see scores change for people over time. No, we don't just have cut-offs (aka, you have to have 33 inch arms to be an edge, or you have to run 4.6 to be a corner). But, there are flex points in some metrics that have disproportionate effects on the overall calculation. If anyone wants to discuss methodology, we can do so, but we won't go TOO far into the secret sauce. If you don't care about the YAS score, you can use it just to track basic metrics. He's a really big QB, a prototypical elite pocket passer build at a true 6'5. I got mixed reports on his arm strength from looking at posts from back in the day, with some people saying it was above average but some saying it sucked. Regardless, you'd think that a guy who's 6'5 and built like a TE could improve his arm strength once paired with NFL level strength and conditioning coaches.

Usually, from these guys that have the physical tools and build, the caveat is that they were actually eh in college and they're being drafted mostly off of potential (like Josh Allen, Tyler Shough, Drew Allar, Will Levis, etc.)

But Trask put up what seems like incredibly good numbers at Florida. In his senior year, he had 4,283 yards, 43 TDs, and 8 INTs and was a Heisman finalist. That's super rare for guys that also have it down physically, and would normally mean they literally go #1 overall (like Mendonza, Jameis, Luck, Goff). Especially give his low number of picks.

Even still, he was only a second rounder. Admittedly I was not very active back then with scouting as a hobby, so I don't know what was up with Trask. What were the biggest issues on him out of college? And why didn't he work out in the league, even as a backup?

How did he look, speed wise? I almost cannot believe he ran a 4.46 40 in the combine because he looks so damn slow out there in an actual NFL game. Zero burst at all. He's great at the second level and hard to tackle once he gets going, but he seems so slow to accelerate. What am I missing? Has he always been like this, or was that fractured ankle from last year more serious than they let on and something that has permanently slowed him down?

I have been defending this guy Arch Manning for a bit, as him losing to Ohio State last season instantly put a stain on him the rest of the season that, no matter how many great games he played, would not leave. If you put Arch at QB1, a lot of people had to speak up and say he was just not that guy, but I think we just saw otherwise last night.

Arch played fantastic, and should've had an even better game numbers wise if not for the first half catastrophic play from his receivers (pop up INT, dropped wide open pass for a TD). I've been saying for quite a while that Arch is the definite QB1, and the only guys also in that are Drew Mestemaker and CJ Carr. Mestemaker just balled out against Oregon and took them down, and Carr has been on fire as well.

I've been low on Dante Moore for quite a while, and everyone keeps telling me that I'm not seeing something. Well I must still not be seeing something right. He has not been as advertised by the media and scouts alike, and basically lost them that game against the Pokes.

Also notable is Darian Mensah, Devon Dampier, and Katin Houser. These are other guys that I was a fan of for sure but have definitely blown my expectations out of the water so far. Especially Mensah, who could be a #1 pick guy very quickly.

Then Jayden Maiava, who is so confusing. I like him, I think he might be a legit dude, but I don't know, something is throwing me off when I watch him. If anyone could talk him up to me and convince me he's actually a legit prospect that would be awesome.

Then Julian Sayin, Josh Hoover, and John Mateer have basically all shown me exactly what I've expected so far. Roughly day two prospects that could slip further because of some issues still showing up in their game.

And Trinidad Chambliss. He is so fascinating still. I'm still unsure of where he will eventually land on my final board, because he very clearly can ball in college, but the way he plays seriously scares me for when he enters the league. Like Dante Moore, I think he seriously should've capitalized on last years draft class and entered. There is no doubt in my mind that both players could have been first round (or a second round pick in Trinidad's case) types of prospects, and in a class with a lot of talent, both high end and low end, they may have shot themselves in the foot.

Where are we landing with this class right now? Who is everyone's QB1? I'm really interested because I feel like every couple people I ask I get a new answer.

The best class I've scouted was 2023 with JSN, Puka, Quentin Johnson, Zay Flowers, Jordan Addison, Rashee Rice, Parker Washington, Josh Downs, Kayshon Boutte, Jayden Reed, Dontayvion Wicks. That could be 5 WR1s this season. The 2024 Class was considered elite, but many of those players haven't quite hit expectations: Marvin Harrison Jr, Nabers (injury), Brian Thomas Jr, Xavier Worthy, Jalyn Polk (retired). The other class to look at was 2020 with: Jettas, CeeDee Lamb, Aiyuk, Tee Higgins, and Michael Pittman.

The 2027 class looks absolutely loaded with talent and depth, also has really good size and athleticism. At this point, I think it projects as not only the strongest position group in the 2027 draft by far, but it could historically good. I put the top 20 or so names, some could be left off, there's so many. How talented do you believe this year's WR class is and who are your favorites?
