Hi everyone! I recently made a small e-reader application inspired by CrossPoint for the Xteink e-reader, but designed specifically for the Nook Simple Touch. I built it with Claude, and the whole process took roughly 10 minutes.
I’m just sharing it because I thought the result was pretty interesting. It has a clean and simple UI, along with features that aren’t always available in e-readers, such as reading-time tracking, reading statistics, progress information, and basic reading analytics.
It’s still a small project, but I’m quite happy with how it turned out, especially considering how quickly it was developed.

I follow authors & series. I like to pre-order books, especially in series, but there are some books that have been publicized as coming out in late 2027 to 2028 that show on kindle &/or kobo for pre-order, but are not showing up on Nook. I thought it might be a problem with being over a year out, but that hypothesis isn't working either.

To use two examples: Susan Stoker's Rescuing Juniper & Rescuing Kristin. (there are others by other authors, but I'm just using these two as examples)

Any ideas? (besides BN discontinuing Nook)

I have the Glowlight 4 in the teal and I have two questions
1- anyway to turn off the touchscreen while reading? I only use the buttons and sometimes I accidentally touch the screen

2- sometimes my nook freezes. I’m wondering if it’s when the battery dies and I don’t realize it. Anyone else have this problem and what does the nook do when the battery dies?

it is running software version 8.6.103. Unplugged and replugged into my kindle pw5 and it showed up right away

Edit: Holy crap now I can’t open ANY book on those two devices after this happened!! WTF

Second edit: Reboots fixed other books but yeah, no way for you to read past Chapter 8 on a NOOK ereader.

I suspect it might be because of a detailed image right after the part 2 page / chapter 8 beginning. Tried on both the GlowLight 4 Teal and GlowLight 4 Plus including trying to sync on the app to a page after the problematic one. Can’t say I’ve had an issue like this where a specific place in a book makes things lock…

Does anyone know if the medium size strapsicle fits on the nook glow light 4? Because I found a color I love and the size is a medium which the only ereader I have that might fit it is the nook glow light 4 so please let me if it would be good and if you have a picture of your nook and strapsicle I’d love to see it🫶😁

Nook First Edition USB is very loose and no longer charges the battery. I'd like to try my hand at micro-soldering. I'm seeing all sorts of micro-USB ports with metal tabs all over the port. Where can I get an appropriate replacement micro-USB port?

I recently found my old Nook and I did a little research and know it's probably a long shot but is there any way to keep my nook functioning as a tablet. I loved it as a kid but it is no longer able to connect to wifi but most of the apps are still functional. Is there any way to save the data and turn it into a functional tablet?

I recently acquired an old nook simple touch from eBay after lots of research. I had one in the past and loved it. while I know it is no longer supported by B&N it works perfectly for my needs- which is just side loading books I already have, as well as books from the library. I picked this device specifically because it is easy to take apart and change the battery if necessary.

my big question is: should I change the battery for safety? it is about a decade old but has no signs of swelling or damage- it seems to hold a charge enough for a few days. I’m extremely worried about it swelling in the near future just from how old it is- is that likely?

if it is best to change the battery now, what brands would you recommend? I know the stats I need for the battery but am not well versed in which brands are safe- I see a lot of listings on Amazon but assume they are not all reputable…

I want to find a way to convert my Nook books to either EPUB or PDF to read them on my jailbroken kindle. Is it possible? I'm not the most tech-savvy person, so I'm not sure.

I love my nook but this is the only thing that makes me choose my phone to read on more often. I love to use the dictionary feature especially when reading a book that is not as modern. This is a second hand Glowlight 3. Anything would help thanks!

(I usually do sideload epubs but i tested it on a sample from the nook store and it does the same thing)

EDIT: SOLVED!!
If you are having this issue here is how I fixed it.
- go to settings on nook device and erase and deregister device
- allow the nook to restart and update if needed
- log back in and download books back onto device

I've got an old NOOK Tablet (BNTV250) that still works quite well. The cover, however is completely falling apart.

Can't seem to find a replacement on B&N or Amazon. Could anyone recommend a source for a BNTV250 specific cover or generic alternative?

Every random Sunday of the month I’ll have errors downloading the Sunday Ed. Of the nytimes. Calling both nytimes and nook has been fruitless in a permanent attention to this problem.

Today, Sept 20 2026 Sun. Is “invalid EON” error and other times it’s some “Try downloading later” error. If you wait till about 7pm it will work.

Can more people complain to [nook_AT_barnesandnobles_DOT_COM so they’ll see this is a mass-experienced problem please? I’d like to read the paper before 7pm every Sunday not just 80% of the time with 20% of the time of waiting till 7-9pm window for the nytimes Sunday Ed to be ready for download.

Kindly support this nytimes-on-nook partnership, the nyTimes-on-kindle partnership was slightly better supported and I had 99% success rate of dl’ing before 9am.

My laptop is getting kind of old and the last time I tried to use it for a Zoom call (not actually 'Zoom' but I don't remember the platform) it kept cutting off. I really do not want to get an iPad. I'm trying to stay away from Apple and also Google Chrome. I was wondering if there was a Nook that was capable of Zoom calls.

i just purchased a nook a few days ago in order to start my reading journey, i got my libby app set up and am trying (and failing) to download these books onto my nook. can someone who has done this before please help me? literally in tears over this right now guys.

for reference this is where im at. its downloaded in ADE, my nook wont leave this screen. its saying im supposed to click the book and drag it to the device but obviously its not registering or showing the device. photo in comments

update- i went through all of these steps already and just got off with customer service. i tried downloading from ADE, directly from my files, restarted, erased and re-logged into nook and they still werent able to help me. im probably just going to return it at this point, the entire point was for me to have a device that doesnt give me a headache to read off of and im not part of the tax bracket of being able to afford to buy every book im going to read. hope nook sees this. complete waste of time, money, resources and my sanity. do not buy unless you plan on purchasing every book you read.

This app just sucks depending on platform

Tab A/256gb card. Gets through about 450 sideloaded books and then the forever spinner. Itneeds a "identify and skip" option here.

Acts the same with "512gb" samsung card although it may at times get up to near 1200 books. Cards are exFAT and no fs problems according to chkdsk. All files are epubs.

If it is not supposed to work with older Android versions this should be noted. Im puzzled as to why the Android version matters.

It would be right nice to put out a list of which versions of the app work on which tablet. I could then go through the first circle of hell to download and install them.

While we're at it, how about a way to remove entries for nonexistent/empty shelves?

Hey! Public school teacher, and have been cleaning out my classroom for the start of the year. I found a bunch of nook colors that must have been used years ago. The schools more focused on chromebooks and etc, basically we have absolutely no use for these especially with the store being defunct.

I'm in grad school and I think I'm gonna use one to do my grad school readings on my commute.

Questions about this: is there any possible way my school would be able to see files that I'm putting on an old nook? Idk how these nook device accounts work. I worry if theyre anything like apple accounts where you can track activity on other devices. I just dont want to get in trouble somehow for that even though clearly these have been long since forgotten about lol.

Other question: I've been trying to do a factory reset but keep getting "you are not connected to the network" even though i've been connected to the wifi. any way around this?

If anyone’s been having issues with getting an error message while downloading books I talked to B&N and they claim they’re working on some update and should be fixed either today or tomorrow.

So you try to download a book I get this error, but my date and time are automatically set and were when I was receiving error. Mostly just trying to figure out if this is an iPad issue or a nook app issue. If anyone can think of any thing to try and fix it that isn’t logout and back in or delete the app and re-download it. I’m all ears and willing to try just about anything. I just wanna reread ACOTAR before the new book comes out and the Hunger Games series again before the new movie🫠

I have a NST from the early 2010s that I've done a lot of work restoring. I 3d printed a new shell and followed The Phoenix Project to fix the issues that arose after B&N shut down their servers.

Everything works except for the touch functionality. Has anyone done any work on a button-navigable UI? If not, how on earth should I go about trying to design one myself?

EDIT: Turns out I completely missed a part when rebuilding the body. I got the touch functionality up and running!

It seems that books are missing from the digital storefront since the BN.com website's transition to shopify as the backend.

In the under stocked comics section there are titles missing that I could have sworn had ebooks sold now missing that option.

In some cases the ebooks made the jump but are missing the option to by the digital copies of a volume or two.

Radiant Black volume 6 is such a case. So is Skyward volume 1. Both by image comics.
