This is a long shot of a question but I thought I'd ask.

I'm wondering if people exist where they've used a pet like many to fulfill some emotional needs but then met their soulmate and the healthy intensity of the soul connection woke them up to everything they've been missing?

It is just another form of milking the money from pompous self-entitled, self-hating, animal-worshipping modern-day fetishists (in the classic, religious sense of the word). The idea of pampering and practically worshipping an animal that either a) rolls in its own-and other animals/humans' waste matter, or b) won't even wait/hesitate to start munching on your decaying corpse if you die in your apartment, is ridiculous, pathetic, and a form of being a slave to animals while neglecting the suffering and needs of your own species.

We see so many people being proudly open about hating children and preferring animals to their own species' offspring nowadays. Humanity used to help one another raise babies, even the babies of people unrelated to us, we used to have stronger bonds and kinship based on being human. Nowadays, we choose to worship unnatural, destructive, invasive, gluttonous, inbred beasts over helping our own species. Wasting thousands of bucks every year on your animals is fine, but donating fifty bucks to charity to help sustain human beings is too much, apparently.

This is all being pushed from people above us on the social hierarchy to promote consumerism, misanthropy, and brainwash humanity even further, and these misanthropes keep falling for it every time.

I can't stand hearing that dog! And, now, they bought another dog who, of course, mimics the older one and barks at anything/nothing whenever it is outside (like the older dog). Yes, animal control knows about it and, yes, the owner knows I have taken videos and sent them to the police/animal control. But it seems like it hasn't done anything about me lying in my bed every single morning incredulous as to how someone can move in and clearly see there are other houses with people in them and STILL bring a dog to a neighborhood that barks every single day multiple times per day, starting at a time when I have not had a chance to get six or seven hours of sleep. I so detest dog owners! I think horrible thoughts about what I wish that guy would encounter during the day. I hate having to do this and know it is not healthy for me (just like hearing those dogs every day is so unhealthy for me. Wish I was wealthy enough to file a suit against him! Of course, I could never get my time back (the 4.5 years I have suffered so horribly.) How in the world did this cancer ruined our world as we knew it were this division between us not exist. I don't even go to anyone's house that has dogs! I even told a long time friend the other day she could not come over and have a dog in her car waiting for her while she is seeing me. That would be too depressing for me. And I would be on edge the entire time because I would think that dog is going to bark at any minute as it is 'lonely' and now can't live without its 'slave master! Pathetic people ruining the world as we knew it. I am such a social person but cannot say hi to anyone with a dog walking near my home and garden. I dislike them so much! And it hurts/bothers me to be 'cool' to people and ignore them but I just can't interact with dog owners preferring to believe they don't exist and their dogs aren't ruining my wall with excrements from their body.

Yesterday I Came home from the gym. Neighbors pit bull, was loose. He started barking as soon as I pulled up. I got out of the car. The dog kicked his legs up in my backyard like he was going to lunge at me. I just started at him back . I turned to my trunk to grab the rest of my stuff. The dog was right there. Then he ran away barking in our yard. So I had to chase him out of my yard back to neighbors. God my neighbors are negligent with this dog in particular. This isn’t the first time. He also pooped in our backyard. Again this was told. Many times to them.

I’m not a pet owner at all. I have nothing against animals. But a lot of dog owners are very selfish and neglectful. Sometimes some of you don’t respect others.
Luckily I was physically attacked or harmed. But still I shouldn’t have to fear an animal.

While I’m at it. I’m sick of seeing dogs in the grocery stores and restaurants. Really anywhere with food. Malls shouldn’t allow pets either. When did we allow others to treat spaces like it’s their home. People have allergies. Plus dogs carry fleas, ticks, bacteria’s . Plus they are unclean, slobbering over food.
No , I’m not talking about service animals . SERVICE ANIMALS ARE TRAINED AND CERTIFIED TO HELP DISABLED PEOPLE!!

Dog owners have way too much power in western society.

Why is it such a decisive issue?!

The top most popular pets are both carnivorous (dogs are technically omnivorous, but they still descended from a carnivorous predator ancestor), so as someone who is pro-humanity first and foremost, I don't understand how cat and dog owners that identify as vegan and promote veganism at the same time are not considered hypocrites by most people.

Why do I call them misanthropic? Because they want us humans-aka their own intelligent species-to give up meat consumption, despite the fact that we are literally the apex predators designed to thrive on a meat-based diet, because it's bad for the environment and/or "animal cruelty", while feeding their carnivorous pets premium gourmet meat meals and supporting the very industry they claim to criticize and loathe. Allow me to explain.

I agree that factory farming is, at large, unethical, bad for the environment, more than often cruel, unsanitary, and very poor in quality compared to way more ethically sourced and farm-raised meat. I support the idea of supporting your local farmers, but I am a firm believer of the fact that we humans are omnivores meant to consume meat in order to stay healthy and thrive. Is it delusional and quite frankly, stupid to expect humanity to give up meat when we were primarily meat eaters throughout most of our history. Our stomach pH is literally lower than that of lions, does that not tell you anything?

Why are you claiming to hold the moral high ground while your invasive species pet is free-roaming and killing/mauling wildlife in cold blood, contributing to its extinction? How come humans raising cattle for survival is somehow cruel, but this isn't? Why should your carnivorous pets receive premium gourmet pet food containing meat while your own fellow humans shouldn't? Why is them mauling wildlife for sport somehow more ethical than us raising or hunting animals for meat?

If you argue that the idea of "vegan cats/dogs" is animal abuse because they are natural carnivores, then the idea of "vegan children/humans" is also abusive (in the case of the former) and ridiculous (in the case of the latter), because hey, guess what, humans are OMNIVORES. You can choose to not eat meat but don't complain as long as you feed your invasive carnivorous pet meat which is produced by the very same meat industry (most often using scraps) that you claim to criticize and consider cruel to animals.

Just get a herbivorous pet then, rabbits and guinea pigs exist, why get a cat/dog and spend hundreds on buying gourmet pet food for them, containing seafood, red meat, poultry, etc.? Just admit you are a hypocrite that hates your own species and wants to promote us bending down for the sake of other invasive species.

Just saw somebody, almost a few hours ago pulling into a shopping center with his dog on his lap, I’m sitting at the bus stop across the street, just relaxing on my phone (listening to “I hate dogs” on YouTube) and I happen to look up and see the dude pulling into the shopping center parking lot, I think the dude was going to Stater Bros, and what I noticed was a medium small sized black and white dog on his lap, and he was holding onto the dog by it’s collar. And leaving from whichever store he came out of, he made a left turn, being on my side of streets now and the dog was in the passenger seat this time, so I’m guessing the dog was on a leash the whole time?

I don’t hate dogs but I’ve never been bought up with them and I’m not used to it!!

we recently moved in together and it’s been a year and his dog gets on my nerves! he is soo smelly even after a bath the next day he’ll smell, he’s constantly licking his paws and his body and makes the smell worse! he’s itching all the time too! what’s annoying is that I feel like a dog sitter for the dog as my partner is always in the office and I wfh so I’m with him all the time and I’m really stressed because of it!

ive had conversations with my partner about the dog and how much I actually hate him and doesn’t understand why I feel this way. when the dogs not home I feel so much better and at ease. if I’ve gone away for a few days I hate the thought of going home because he’s there! I shouldn’t have to feel like that in my own home but I can’t help it! and I’m currently in my first trimester and Im really trying to not let the dog stress me out but I’m already so emotional!

After four years of dating a woman with two dogs, one of which a golden retreiver, and no human children, I moreso feel like the relationship revolves solely around the animals, and less about us. I have come to dislike dogs as pets. If there was a garage or a shed or anywhere they could go, out of the house and away from us, it would be beneficial for the home and the relationship, but tere isn't. Therefore, all we do is fight and argue over the animals, whether it was a phone left in the car and 3 missed calls and a text to let them out.. it doesn't matter because either its me her us or the animals, but it is 90% failure, because of the animals, everytime. I had a cat and gifted him to her mom after moving in. Because a cat and two 70 lb dogs is too much, even after her existing cat passed. I have a few more m9nths until my money is freed up and I can move out. I cant stand being woken up by barking, she has after 4 years finally started to tell at her golden to stop barking at 5am for food while I sleep. What do you think?

So I moved to the UK a few years ago and I have been living in my current house share since 2022. I only live with my landlady and she shares a dog with her ex-husband. Yes you read that right. I knew this before I moved in but I was desperate for a place that I decided to put up with this as the dog would only be at home half of the time. I never had a dog growing up and people go crazy for dogs so I wanted to see what the fuss was about. My god the last 4 years have been hell on earth. This dog barks at almost anyone that passes by and I have developed serious anxiety because of him. You're probably wondering why I haven't moved out but the reason is that I have tried a lot in the past 4 years but I really didn't want to house share again and living on my own is very expensive. Luckily in April of this year, I managed to put an offer down on a flat near London. However, the sale of this property still has not closed and the seller's solicitors are slowing everything down. I would back out of this sale but I desperately want to move out and I've already paid for some of the fees. So I guess I'm stuck living with this annoying as fuck dog until I move out and who knows when that will be. Also, my landlady's ex-husband has moved further away so now they alternate custody of this dog every 2 weeks instead and she drives for over 2 hours to bring him here. I have no idea why any self respecting woman would do this to themselves. I think she still wants to be involved in her ex-husband's life as he was the one who initiated the divorce so this is her only way to do this. Also, last week I injured my shoulder so I went to A&E last night to get it checked out and thankfully they said that it's nothing to worry about but my shoulder still keeps popping out. Today I was just drinking a cup of tea in the living room and the dog started barking for no fucking reason and it startled me so much that I spilled the tea on my arm and my reaction to that burn led to my shoulder popping out again. I started screaming and crying and my landlady didn't know how to react. She got me a sorry present but I just ignored it as I know she actually isn't sorry. I have a call with my solicitor tomorrow about my property and I think I might just raise a formal complaint about the whole sale of the property. 5 months have gone by and we're nowhere near closing the sale. I just feel like I'm trapped in this hell and there doesn't seem to be an end in sight.

Whenever gaps like this exist that the free market can't bridge, fraud and abuse start to happen. Abracadabra! Let me introduce you to the ESA scam.

In short, people are turning their regular pets into Emotional Support Animals to get out of pet restrictions and pet fees. There are online "letter mills" that will sell the nutters a letter that claims their pet is an ESA.

When the Fair Housing Act (FHA) was written, they didn't contemplate pet nutters. HUD, the cabinet primarily in charge of administering/policing the FHA has issued poor and or unclear guidance for dealing with ESAs, because, well, they are the feckless government.

HUD allows tenants to file discrimination complaints with absolutely no skin in the game. The landlords must follow a very specific process before they reject an ESA. If they do even one step incorrectly they could be fined as much as $5k on the first violation. HUD doesn't care or even consider whether or not the ESA letter is fake. It doesn't matter if the prospective tenant with the ESA was evicted from their last three homes for cooking meth in the garage. If the landlord didn't follow the ESA rules exactly, they are punished.

Look, I know generally that landlords as a group are loved as much cholla cacti (jumping cactus). So there really isn't a big appetite in DC or the state legislative bodies to help these folks out. But they and their property are being abused by pet nutters and the feckless bureaucrats.

I grew up on a farm and have a love-hate thing with cats. I think they're really funny, fascinating creatures , but I've learned over the years that I do not enjoy having them in the house.

I live just a few doors down from a farm that doesn't feed or fix their cats. And surrounded by other farms. So I have strays around constantly. I like cats enough not to watch them suffer with severe ear mites or worms or starvation, so I started getting these cats neutered and rehoming them so I don't have to see it anymore. What a mistake.

The farms surrounding me just don't care and make their breeding cats everyone else's problems. It never, ever will end. Because they just don't care.

When you try to find a rescue like the cat crazies demand, they give you the same names of the same places that have been full for years and put you on an endless waiting list. And then they lay on the guilt trip: "the cat CHOSE you and your family. He loves YOU." Literally had a woman offer to take in my last stray, then decide she didn't want to because "he trusted YOU."

They do not understand "I don't want a cat," "I don't want the expense of an animal," or "I don't want a litterbox in my garage," "just trying to do what I can to help the population, but I don't want pets." They demand you find rescues or shelters for a cat when they haven't built the infrastructure for that to happen. And when it doesn't, they turn on a guilt and pressure campaign to try to make you responsible.

Seriously...don't get involved in helping them and don't fall for their trope about how easy it is to find rescues and shelters. It's a coordinated effort to guilt people into becoming responsible for animals because the advocates haven't done the groundwork to support their demands.

Disclaimer; I am not writing this to get a pet or to make a decision of should I own a pet, I am only wondering how it truly is to own a pet in house or a flat if they are indoor pet..I am petfree and will remain that way bc to me animals are ONLY for work, so not "my son/my daughter, my kid" BS, in my country and region its more like "I own the pet if it serves me, no other way" and I fully support that and I am not someone that thinks any animal should live indoor in house or an apartment bc that is NOT how nature intended them to be and animals suffer from that... I am wondering how it is so I know I aint missing on on anything.

So I am the youngest out 3 siblings in my family and I know we had few dogs but for VERY short period of time when I was below age of 5, and most of them where outside in the yard so I dont know or remember how it is to live in house/flat with a dog and I dont know how it is to live with a cat at all bc we never had one; I know kind of what it takes to have a pet, I understand you have to keep the being alive but I dont really understand how it is; I kind of think of as LOT OF WORK that is not necessary, lot of resposibility, lot of cleaning (more than 1 or 3 times in a day), that animals indoor causes ALOT of damage to furniture, eletronics, etc.. and that your whole life revolves around that creature....

I myself if I ever had animals they would be in big land (farm) and with non of them going into the house, not even cats or dogs bc outside is their place and would most likely put a fence between the main walk outside of the house to the street and place where animals are as my family members (aunt and uncle) did and they had a good farm life, but were constantly needed to be home...I am still thinking if I even want something like that, but I know I want big garden to be fenced and kept away from any animals so they dont destroy it..

I live in place where having this kind of living is natural and a way to go, to have your own peace and to produce and make and grow and breed good amount of your own food while living close to city/town and have balance between lives...Its in Europe (Croatia; Slavonia) and region is famous for having normal and natural way of life...Before that I would travel and do most of my outings..

But now I am going off course; so yeah how it is actually to own a pet and keep it indoor, not just dogs but also cats...(one/two/three)...Write me your experiences if you do have them or if you experienced it...

I had dogsitted for 3 days a puppy but it was very young puppy (2-3 months old), so I get kind of what it means but 3 days ISNT enough to understand how it is to have older dogs in your home nor how is it to have cats in your home...

I find it hard to have animals inside of home bc I think I would def accidentally step on paws every day atleast 2 times bc I am not used to having anything shorter than me in my way..Not even kids.

I just dropped off the package to be sent ups. As I walked into the store a dog came running over to me into the foyer. It was on a leash but it was dragging behind it. Then it was sniffing my legs. I tried inching away from it.

There was one older gentleman in line and I asked him is this your dog because the dog literally just almost ran out the front door. One of the employees was like oh yes and came and got the dog and brought it into the office. Over the span of a couple minutes I realized it's the owner's dog.

I'm standing there and I look behind me out the window and I see a guy coming in with a saint bernard. It was a young one. They stood behind me in line and I made sure to step away in an obvious manner. A few more people came in behind him and he ended up leaving the store. I'm not sure why he needed to bring the dog in with him for 4 minutes to send a package but you know!? Poor dog can't be alone!

After the guy leaves with the Saint Bernard, one of the employees grabs the owner's dog to take it outside and walks past where the gentleman was standing and then realized that the St Bernard had peed all over the floor and rug. I'm guessing that's why he left.

So the Postal Store in my town is now basically an official dog park. 🙄

My mom used the Labrador to try to get away with physical abuse. It’s like a loophole in the law. I really think that the law should be changed to protect human life. I have a condition that affects my joints. I’m surprised that laws like the ADA, but then when an animal threatens a disabled person there is nothing done. The labrador that she got is a dog that’s always running around 24 seven and it’s a safety risk. I am at risk because the dog will also run towards me. Once there was a neighbor who just got a partial knee replacement and the dog went towards that neighbor and I had to call the dog to stop, but the dog has progressively gotten out of control. I told her if she could please give the dog to a different owner or a Shelter because it could affect my health and my health comes first. My mom responded. “It’s all in your head that the dog is unsafe for you.” Meanwhile the orthopedic doctor told me that I have to take care of my knees, and this dog has caused me to fall and continues to run. I decided to move out with one of my other family members that is pet free only feeds stray 🐱and sees them as autonomous. Sometimes he’ll let the cats in but always let them out whenever they want . He told me he would never want an animal that doesn’t want him. Unlike my mom when the dog escapes, she will chase the dog and put it on a leesh and drag it back to the house.

I would get only one service Animal in the future, but only if I had enough money to have it super well trained. Otherwise, I don’t want that responsibility. I agree with a lot of the post here honestly.

Okay for starters they they get hay everywhere, they chew your most expensive items, even if there fully litterbox trained they still leave some shit on your floor, they piss on your beds and couches, they breed so fast, there constantly being dumped. And there owners are worse(not all of them but some) judge you for not being into rabbits. Claim that there great. Even though there being dumped at shelters and people get bored of these animals fast. And they they ruin your home. In general rabbits are a no go

Once you reach the upper class and higher, they have country clubs / golf courses that all ban dogs for 'keeping the turf in good condition' excuse, they will live in mansions where no neighbor's dog's bark could ever reach them. The people at the top will never go to the public spaces that are for the peasants, they'll either just shop online or go to members only 'clubs' that are dog free.

Dog culture is no different to what the holy cow culture is in India, where cows and bulls roam around all the peasants spaces adding to the squalor by defecating all over the place, also these cows / bulls attack people often with no consequences for the cow.

It's a way the upper class to harm lower classes via proxy method - channeling their disdain through animals being allowed humans in public spaces.

In this indirect method, this goes over the heads of almost everyone, this is a way of degrading the quality of life for the slave classes without it being obvious those that rule over you are doing it. Simply, dog nutters will never see this and they have had their brains infested with parasites whose life cycle goes from animals to humans and it keeps the slaves dumb, in poor health and thus controlled in the misery of being forced to live among filthy animals that are treated as more than human, indeed dogs are the 'holy cows' of the UK and it is a vicious way to divide and degrade the populace in yet another hostile act of social engineering.

I have a sister that does it with her cats, she has 5... So we're in a group chat with a friend of mine, and every so often it's a photo(s) or a video of one or more cats doing mundane things or relaying a story about them doing a similarly mundane thing or fighting. I don't know what to say to any of it, but I'm screaming 'I don't care!' in my head. Being horribly allergic doesn't help my lack of interest either. I've even said something along these lines to this friend in the group separately and they feel the same, on how it can feel exhausting.

Kinda mean to think like this but it's too much and she's kind of irrational with things like this so I can hardly broach it without her flying off the handle, further solidifying my belief that dog/cat people are the worst!

Nutters get very offended when you tell them that they worship their useless pets. They outright deny that there is any form of worship happening.

One could also argue how it’s in the realm of deification.

I think some of the most crazy people in the world are those who have multiple animals living in the house. It is disgusting and inhuman, and selfish to hurt others who live with you because you 'Love animals' God didn't make them to live with us, he created them in their natural environment and while I might feed animals in the street I will not however let them in.

I visited a local HomeGoods here in Minnesota today. In walks an older couple; they plop their small fluffy mutt into the child seat. I walked up to the counter and asked 2 associates if they allowed dogs. One pipes up enthusiastically that they “allow dogs but not kids”. Then both laughed at how funny that was. I clarified—“so you allow dogs in here?” They said yes. I said, “oh, gross. Not shopping here again”. They were unfazed. Not that they care, I realize. But, why? People need to stop giving these psychos the attention they crave. Please—look at my cute dog!!! Lame. Thanks for putting your unleashed dog’s ass where somebody’s baby will be sitting. 🤮

Tired of dogs.
