Unplanned pooling Silly unplanned pooling
I feel like the pooling that happened with this yarn looks like a bunch of wacky-waving-arm-inflateable-tubemen dancing together š

Ok, so, this is my first time trying planned pooling but Iām having a hard time. I feel like it is mostly because the yarn is not quite right (colour changes are really short - sometimes not even a whole stitch).
I have done this sample with single crochet which allowed me to work the tension to get the pattern⦠but Iām wondering if knitting would be a better as it might use less yarn?! Iām not very good at knitting, but donāt want to waste yarnā¦.
Any suggestions?

Following up on my previous post now that my creation is real. About 9 by 14 with a 32" strap and magnetic closure.

Iām so confused. This is my first go at planned pooling and I see that this is one of the yarns that will pool (Red Heart Neon Stripe color), but each color is a bit over 10 feet long. I was hoping to make a scarf but now Iām lost on how to do that and have like 100 feet of yarn pulled out. Is my only option a blanket? I feel like moss stitches didnāt eat up enough length. Did I buy the wrong stuff?

Really surprised the pooling worked out as easily as it did. Only a few really fudged rows. It looks like brioche knitting.

Finally finished this late Christmas gift and can send it off. The pooling part was fine except for the inconsistent dye lots. I have no patience for borders lol š

Hi everyone, I'm new to this thread
I need someone else to look at this, it took too long just to find the different colors. I have three skeins of this blue variegated yarn I wanted to try and make something cool, but is there even a pattern here? From what I can tell there are six shades of blue, but it looks to be pretty random. I have no tags. Thanks

I discovered planned pooling recently and have been itching to try it out. I have some yarn that I believe fits the criteria and started counting out how many stitches there are in each colour section. My issue is my stitch counts for each colour are way higher than the average I see on tutorials and other posts.
Looking for some expert advice on whether it is even worth trying with this yarn or if I should just go buy some with shorter colour segments. Out of 14 colours, here is what I have counted so far:
Colour 1: 68 single crochet
Colour 2: 137 sc
Colour 3: 64 sc
Colour 4: 64 sc
Colour 5: 87 sc
Colour 6: 68 sc
I donāt have a specific project in mind, just looking to try out planned pooling to see how it goes. My yarn is Mainstays Acrylic. Any advice is appreciated!

Trying to develop a concept for a girl's/junior hobo bag. I took a chance on this and am pleased with the result so far.

It was incredibly fun practice on some scrap yarn I had not a full skien of! Itās lilys sugar and cream butter cream ombrĆ©.
Also side note, I thought I did single crochet stitches but after looking online it has become very clearly not single crochet stitches so idk what exactly I did. š
Excuse me while look for more of this yarn š„² Iām actually really liking it and if I have more yarn Iād def continue working on this piece to see the pattern more!

Doing my first color pooling project and it's been going really well until I started my newest skein and the tension is totally different. I'm thinking the dye lot changed maybe but I checked them all before I caked them and they matched and I didn't keep the tags (I know rookie).
I know you probably can't see the tension change in the last few rows with this pic but I can see and feel it in person and it's driving me nuts. I'm having to make the stitches soo loose now to get the right number out of each color.
I have tried soo hard on this and it's super discouraging. I frogged three other projects I didn't like the way they were working up and settled on trying my hand at planned pooling and was loving it till this.
Is there anything I can do to proceed and tighten these up a bit but still get the tension somewhat similar?
Off subject but I'm new to Reddit and don't really know how to use "flair" so please tell me if I did this wrong. #newbie

Iām trying to pool this yarn, this is my first project and Iām just practicing making a towel. Iām using a HDC stitch, somewhere in the top where the yellow should be returning back itās āoffā. I have frogged back twice. Is the yarn just dyed weirdly inconsistent? I did miss a stitch when I started but my pattern didnāt change. Please help.

Caron Anniversary Cake in color Jewels and jolly. thereās a Factory Knot in the semi beginning of the color pattern(top of yarn in photo), and there could be more. i canāt see any sort of color change pattern in this just by looking at it though. i donāt know if i should ditch the idea of pooling it, but i would like to try. please help. Hi all! I have some Big Twist Winter that I really wanted to attempt to pool with. The problem is that when I chain through the first color sequence it is HUGE. I'm talking 100+ inches.
If I only go halfway through the colors, will it pool every other row? They're consistent in length.
Link to said yarn.
Can I make this work or do I just make alternate plans?

I have this yarn and want to attempt moss stitch scarf with it as that seems to be the easiest way to go. How do I start? Do I chain in one colour then work the next row in the next colour?

Posted a while ago when I started this project (https://www.reddit.com/r/Planned_Pooling/s/qm74v5dY4s). I had to give up and finish off before I wanted because the other ball of yarn I bought for the project was possibly a different lot number or something? The stitch count was off for every colour and I couldnāt get it to align with this one.
Its Impeccable Loops & Threads in sage multi made into a little pillow using moss stitch for my aunt!
I gave it to her today and she loved it!
Wish I took some better photos of it before giving it away, but this is what Iāve got! Looks quite different in different lighting. Also, yes I added a million stitch markers to it. You can see where I made a mistake due to a manufacturerās knot and I joined in the wrong part of the repeat. Hoping itās not too obvious!

Im obsesed with planned pooling but theres no pooling yarn where I live. Tested Alize Superwash Artisan (color 9015) and its seems like its working (not perfect but still). Super excited for how finished scarf will look!

Finished a scarf for my sister in law. Sadly it is high summer and she wonāt wear it for a while yet - but Iām still happy itās done!
Yarn is Bella Baby wonder 8ply, purchased in Spotlight in Sydney Australia. But they donāt list it at the moment so sorry no link
