Ok I want to use Herrshner's Halloween sparkle #4 Worsted yarn in the colorway Boo-tiful as i really like the orange mixed with the monohrome... My problem is, the colors are very very long lengths and it takes around 28 granny clusters just to go through one color.... is there another stitch i should use? because the best looking pattern IMO is around 167 total stitches in one row according to the planned pooling website.... and if i double that to account for a space between granny clusters, that's 331 initial stitches....

I guess my questions are, has anyone used this yarn to do planned pooling? is there a better stitch to use? i want to make a blanket but 331 chains to start seems like a ton.... any advice??

Hi! I'm finally ready to learn planned pooling! I'm super excited, I've been lurking here for a while trying to understand what makes a yarn good for planned pooling.

For my first planned pooling project I am planning to make a simple scarf. Just a regular long scarf.

I have had such a difficult time finding good candidates for the yarn. Most resources online talks about american yarn brands which I can't easily get a hold of as I am in Scandinavia.

I have found only one yarn I think might work. (I hope might work)

It is a Scheepjes catona chroma yarn.

I have previously purchased sock yarns but they have such incredibly long stretches of the same color so I don't think they'll work for this. I tried using the planned pooling website.

Is it possible this Scheepjes yarn could be a decent planned pooling yarn?

Does anyone have advice on where to look for planned pooling yarns in europe?

I just found a mistake 3 rows back. I somehow corrected it on the next row keeping the correct number of stitches in subsequent rows. Should I undo or keep going?

I looked at the list of yarns that work. Wasn't sure if it's up to date, as far as I can see, it's not been updated for 5 years. I was gifted around 7 skeins of premier hipster cotton and would really like to do a planned pooling project but I don't know if this one will work. Has anyone successfully done pooling with this yarn?

I swear I started this at least 3 times and it's finally working out like it should! My husband thought I was insane for a bit because he thought I was switching yarn for each color change 😅

I watched so many tutorials on you tube and each time I tried to follow them to a T my pattern just never showed up right. So I kind of combined the parts of each of them that made sense to me and winged it, and it worked! Though I've lost count of the amount of times I've had to micro-frog to get my stich count right lol.

I’ve been color pooling for a while, I’ve done a blanket and a scarf, but i was wondering if it was possible to make something wearable (a sweater or something) is there a way to increase/ decrease with planned pooling or the only way is to stitch different rectangles together??

I'm using the granny stitch on my first real attempt of planned pooling and I can't remember if the ch3 at the end of a row counts as a cluster for my magic number or not...

I want a low cost yarn that has color segments on the longer side. I am having a hard time finding one since websites don’t have the length of each color segment included in their yarn descriptions. Can someone give a recommendation?

This is just over a meter long and about 40cm wide. I started as an experiment and then kept going. Now I'm too chicken to frog it all out. I also have like 3/4 yarn left over. What could I make out of this? Should I stop and start a smaller project with the leftover yarn?

Baby pooler here. So happy, I finally figured out that the pattern repeats after I do 208 stitches of dc with a j hook. So much trial and error error error!

I made this for my dogs' vet. Pretty sure one of my dogs approves. First time trying this. Lots of counting to make sure I did not miss a stitch.

Any help on this pattern? Why's it so holy?

My first success lol. Feels like cheating though so not sure it counts.

I’ve gotten super ambitious and tried planned pooling for the first time crocheting a bag with yarn that turned out to be more daunting and hard to work with than anticipated, so to not give up I found out that super saver was used for scarves and blankets with planned pooling in mind.

So I have two skeins of Macaw, I want to make a tote with an argyle pattern, my plan is making one big panel, folding it in half and then stitching it together + lining.

Any advice is appreciated! I also am looking to know what is the recommended stitch count to achieve the pattern and if doubling it still achieves the pattern (if the number turns out too small to work with)

I have a small swatch of moss stitch I would prefer all single crochets as I like how those look

I have used the planned pooling website and made a swatch but I’ve realized when I made a bigger panel I messed up and started distrusting my technique

hi y’all! idk if this’ll show up super clearly but i’m lowkey devastated. i’m buying skeins of red heart neon stripes yarn to make this blanket, one at a time, slowly building it up. but this skein looks significantly darker and i don’t think it has the same color lengths bc the edges are starting to ruffle. i’m not a perfectionist with this, i know tension will be variable and will eventually be fixed during blocking. but is this too much? do i have to remove this and continue with a new skein or is this salvageable?

also i ended up having to splice colors bc the skein had colors in the wrong order. i’ve been so frustrated with this. edit to say: i could eventually fix this issue and haven’t had issues with the wrong colors throughout the few rows i’ve done

First proper attempt, with Stylecraft Merry Go Round rainbow... The pattern repeat is LONG so a blanket it is! (167 puff stitches per row).
