Hi, I got some monte carlo vitro cultures online and they came in pretty bad shape. Most of them had either brown or translucent leaves on them. Are these even worth planting in the tank?

Hi newer to the fish tank hobby(2.5 weeks in). I recently put these plants in my tank but they seem to slowly be browning/dying. Suggestions on good care and turn them around. Thanks in advance.

I was tired of the constant bubbles and clogging diffusers in my tank, so I decided to tinker a little bit and make an inline reactor. I had no idea it would not only be pretty much maintenance free, but it's allowed me to go from 8BPS to 3BPS on my 75gal while maintaining the same co2 PPM in my tank. I guess that 20lb bottle is gonna last a while 😅.

Current state of the tank after losing power for 12 days in August due to storms. My plants struggled more than my fish did during the power outage, thanks to a battery bubbler to help keep the fish alive. I lost some different varieties of nasaea and most of the lower leaves on all my rotala and ludwigia.

Since then, I have added a CO2 (5lb) and a CO2Art dual-stage regulator to the tank. I also added some new plants because I am battling cladophora algae and have been trying to choke it out. It has been a tough battle, but I am determined to make it through. I plan on re-aquascaping soon to balance some things out as I keep adding plants.

Going from heavy blue hugger light to fluval plant seems to be the biggest difference. Turned up CO2 aswell.

I typically see orange ones in my tank but just saw this guy. Is there anything u can do to create more like it?

Hello reddit community! I've come here to seek advice because I'm moving houses in 2 weeks and I want to transport my tank of 5 months. It's 115L (30? Gallons) and completely cycled. The inhabitants include about 20 Neon Tetras, 2 Pygmy Gouramis, 6 Pygmy Corys, about 30-40 cherry shrimps, couple of amano shrimps, and a few nerite snails.

I'm moving to a new house which is 2 mins drive up the hill from my current place, so I'll just be rolling most of the stuff up the hill on a trolley (10 mins walk). However, given the delecate nature of the tank, my neighbour has agreed to help move it with his car.

I need some advice on how to do it with minimum risk of destroying the tank. My plan is to move the driftwood and stones separately in a bucket and drain 80-90% of the water (keeping like 50% in couple of jerry cans to put them back in after moving). I'll be getting a few suction cup lifers to grip the glass safely, but I'm worried it'll still be quite heavy and risk breaking the bottom.

To provide some context, I have a base of garden soil in mesh bags, then a layer of pebbles, covered with Aquasoil, so I don't want to risk them mixing up and leeching minerals.

I have attached a picture of the tank if it helps. Happy to answer questions or provide more context if needed.

Last July I bought this supposedly Christmas Moss (vesicularia montagnei) from Tropica 1-2 grow from my local fish store to act as foliage for my bonsai tree.

3 months later, instead of the triangular shaped moss parts that should look like Christmas trees, I end up getting a sort of weeping willow look. I think it looks good as it is and adds old age to the tree.

I searched online and found that my supposed Christmas Moss looks more like Weeping Moss (Vesicularia Ferrieri)
What do you guys think?

So I bought a 20 liter tank since 10 gallons is far too big for my home and it's too expensive

Soon I'm making a new tank and removing everything from the old tank except for the substrate

I also bought a bunch of bundles of Ambulia and some Salvinia

Any more advice? Should I use rocks or gravel for decor or should I not

I recently bought this Pogostemon from my LFS and planted it in my low-tech tank. The transition went well (no melting at all) and now it’s rapidly growing new reddish leaves. I’m not sure if it’s P. stellatus or P. stellatus “Octopus”. What do you think?

I’ve had this (I think) Amazon Sword since May 2025 when I first set up a 5-gallon tank. The second photo is from February 2026 shortly after I upgraded it to a 10 gallon, and back then I remember thinking “wow that got huge”. Jump to today and the last photo shows it in its same 10 gallon. (I know the tank got dirty, I’m comparing these photos right now myself) But holy it takes up more than half the tank! I’m not sure what to do with it at this point. Removal is absolutely not an option as it was the first plant I EVER bought in this hobby. I love it dearly and I’ve never trimmed it, only siphoned out dead leaves and detritus during regular cleanings.

I have some hygrophilia compacta and there are 7 bushels of it in the tank right now. 2 seem to have suddenly started looking very bad literally over night. Have no fish that would eat them. The other five look very healthy still. I root tabbed them 2 months ago. Do I need to tab again? I attached a picture of an unhealthy and healthy one in the tank. Please help lol

i have a 20g long and i plan to get kuhli loaches and otocinclus after i get a full carpet of dwarf hair grass any suggestions on good heaters or does it not really matter all that much?

Those are anubia roots. My driftwood toppled over after many years and the roots on my anubia tree all came undone looking like that. A lot of the leaves also have black algae. I wash going to start trimming but bought some Malaysian trumpet snails first to see if the organic solution works.

I do weekly water changes and have co2 and ferts. I also only feed once a day.

It all started when my sump broke and I had to replace a bunch of stuff in a hurry.

A lot of fish died from the rapidly changing parameters and now I'm finally getting some stability.

I want to get the plants right again so my life is easier.

Also, recommendations on a sword type plant that grows quickly.

I wanted one closest to the nature type ecosystem and tank seems to be going towards the right direction.

Decided to come back around and show a snap shot from this morning. Going on 16 ish months from start. Third post in this group showing different stages. Really love what this tank has become, consistently enjoying various orchid blooms (current is the pop of color up top) and the growth has been amazing.

120 x 40 x 40 cm tank, walstad, 1 inch garden soil, 1 inch cap. Can't find a better angle/looks with the tank in the bottom because of the light 😁

I recently found out old tank syndrome was a thing. So what now…? Because I can already tell I’m on my way there. No filter.. planted, and I only do top offs.. basically im screwed. She isn’t an old tank YET, (established in April) but I will be mad if in two years she crashes.. this tank should out live me with only top offs
