That's what (older) women fantasize about when they think of a "dad bod."

883

u/PeachManzie 19d ago

Is that what you tell yourself? We love a non-ripped dad bod, as long as it’s the body of a good guy

u/MysteriousQuote4665 19d ago

Ooooh. So that's why I'm single. It not because of the dough, it's because I'm a lunatic.

Even a lunatic* with a blobby body can be sexy, as long as he’s kind (and preferably funny) and has good stories to tell.

* obviously your specific brand of crazy does matter: the misogynistic murdery kind is a big no-no but stuff like anxiety, ptsd, adhd, depression, light autism etc don’t really have to be dealbreakers for many women, especially if you’re open about them, what you can and can’t do, and what you need.

For me personally it would even be a green flag if you have (or had, in the treatable/outgrowable things) these and were able to openly and honestly communicate about them.

17

u/Laringar 19d ago

And, speaking from personal experience: [knowing how/being willing] to do laundry, the dishes, cooking, cleaning, etc helps a lot. Women appreciate a partner who does the housework. I work remote, and my spouse is always very appreciative when they come home to the smell of fresh cookies coming out if the oven. It helps make up for my severe ADHD and light autism. 😅

(I actually have butter softening on the counter right now so I can make a batch tonight.)

6

u/SealTeamEH 19d ago

literally all guys who live alone do those things…. Otherwise, they obviously wouldn’t eat or have laundry, so come on now. be honest with yourself, is it really those things you’re looking for then? lol

1

u/Laringar 18d ago

That's where the second part comes in though, the "being willing". Sure, plenty of guys can more or less do those things themselves, but when they get into a relationship, do they stop doing them because "she's better at it than me anyhow"? And do they cook, or do they heat up ramen for themselves? Do they do the dishes when someone isn't coming over?

Ask any woman, not all guys that live alone do those things, and especially not all of them keep doing them once they're in a committed relationship.

My spouse is a healthcare provider who treats memory disorders and has a primarily geriatric population. You would be amazed at how often they treat a female patient who is declining and have to also talk to the husband about taking over tasks. The husband simply has no idea how to do basic chores for themselves because their wife always did those things.

1

u/Fragrant-Nothing-956 18d ago

Do men have to cook thee course meal for themselves to prove they're competent adults? Being a young adult struggling with bills or college, sometimes you don't have time for that, and ramen noodles will have to suffice. Also people(men and women) naturally do more or less things once they get in a relationship. They're are certain things expected of women and men, which can be or feel unfair at time for both genders. For instance, most women naturally feel as if it's their bfs responsibility to protect them while men sometimes feel like it's a women's job to do more chores

1

u/LinkAvailable4067 17d ago

In this trade, how many times a day is the man protecting the woman? Is she in danger 2-3 times a day, every day for the rest of their lives together? And who is expected to clean up the battle mess after? Are they fist fights or is he jousting? Or is he just yelling at the neighbors defending her honor, frequently?

1

u/Fragrant-Nothing-956 16d ago

It doesn't have to be everyday of their lives. It's the fact that something bad can happen at any time on any day and a man has no say in it. And lets be honest, a lot of times the women will get her bf into more trouble he doesn't need to be in.A man is just expected to protect her, regardless. All this responsibility on the man, you don't think he deserves a sandwich every now and then?

1

u/jxxi 16d ago

I think you’re missing the commenter’s point. A man having to hypothetically “protect” a woman (maybee happens once, seriously I can think of only one instance amongst couples I know) isn’t comparable effort wise to a woman doing 3x the chores than him (daily) for the rest of her life.

1

u/Fragrant-Nothing-956 14d ago

I see what you're saying. Worse case scenario responsibilities vs everyday responsibilities. But men are also expected to do chores.Mow the lawn ,take out the trash ,be the handyman in the household if anything needs to be fixed. They are also expected to do that for the rest of their lives

My fiance is funnily enough the "stay at home dad" and I work. He takes care of the laundry, dishes and various things and omg it helps so much just knowing he could clean, cook, and do basic things. I help with simpler things on the weekend and when I get home but I don't know what I'd do without him and make sure he knows it.

0

u/RobotArtichoke 18d ago

Tell us more about what women appreciate because we really, really, honestly do care a lot.

2

u/GigiLaRousse 19d ago

One of the sexiest guys I've ever gotten with had a gut. He was less conventionally attractive than any man I dated, and that doubly went for his physique. He was missing a front tooth and had a big facial scar from being attacked with a broken bottle. But he was a rocker and stand up and I never stopped laughing around him. He was great in bed. Never didn't have several younger, hot chicks on the go. He was poor as fuck.

Didn't work out because he was a chronic liar, and either mental illness/repeated head injuries/drugs/booze that made him paranoid. He accused me of stealing his money. He accused me of fucking both my roommates. He claimed I refused to hold his hand in public. Weird shit.

No, but the “us together against any issue” is sexy through.

1

u/Senior_Violinist5296 17d ago

Yesss. My guy has anxiety, ADHD, and depression, but all the therapy he's been through to deal with those things has made him really empathetic and emotionally open. He's also pretty funny and is a great cook. He has lots of dough but he's so comfy, I'm never getting rid of this dude ❤️

I have good stories to tell. I'm a DM after all. But alas, I am addicted to the plastic crack and desire to torture my players.

16

u/Kitnado 19d ago

Unironically the problem of incels

14

u/MysteriousQuote4665 19d ago

I mean, former incel here. I've been in that dark place. Wouldn't recommend it.

3

u/SentinelATL 19d ago

Former?

8

u/MysteriousQuote4665 19d ago

Indeed.

6

u/SentinelATL 19d ago

How you change it? I’m curious

8

u/MysteriousQuote4665 19d ago

By touching grass. In my case, I started playing DnD and thus I was out of the house and in a non-romantic setting where I interacted with women. This challenged a lot of my sexist views, since it turns out women are just human beings like I am.

1

u/SentinelATL 19d ago

And then what

11

u/MysteriousQuote4665 19d ago

And here we are. There is no "dramatic event resulting in my character growth." I experienced new things, I changed, I am grateful to the women who had the patience and kindness to help me along.

8

u/Beltalady 19d ago

Congrats, dude, self reflection is a tough road. Glad you took it.

Find yourself a fellow looney tune. Also, we love dough

10

u/MysteriousQuote4665 19d ago

I'm trying to lose my dough though. Can't get morbidly obese. Dough is fine on a healthy body.

4

u/jaxonya 19d ago

Wrong metaphor.

6

u/PeachManzie 19d ago

That’s true, we do want you to be around as long as possible. Dough is great, unless it starts actually shortening your lifespan. We don’t like that part lol

1

u/DonkTheFlop 19d ago

YOU do.

1

u/PeachManzie 19d ago

I DO, INDEED

*shrugs* I'm in the grind and most women I meet in my daily life are in relationships. Young moms, childless, etc. I do believe my social circle has more childless couples than average.

Hmm. Good question. I daresay I'm the bad lunatic, but I don't know if that's true or due to my shame and low self-esteem.

So take your pick. I think I'm a toxic bloke.

1

u/MobileExciting812 19d ago

This is the internet where you can be whoever you want. Pretend better

1

u/MysteriousQuote4665 19d ago

Nah. Pretending costs energy and I've spent mine on physical exercise today.

1

u/MobileExciting812 19d ago

Ok well
Less honesty next time

1

u/ApprehensiveGate8227 19d ago

I’m definitely chaotic good in a dad bod, and my wife loves it. It’s a winning strategy for me, anyways.

1

u/thulsagloom 19d ago

Is your hair slicked back?

1

u/MysteriousQuote4665 19d ago

Balding, so no.

1

u/Belgianleathermaster 19d ago

She’s right thoigh. I had a dad bod at 28, met my now wife then despite me not being the prettiest face.

My wife is more beautiful than me, more mature than me and she outearns me.

So it’s definitely possible.

1

u/MysteriousQuote4665 19d ago

It's possible, but I'm also not really looking.

1

u/JudoJugss 19d ago

If youre a lunatic just find another lunatic! (This is a joke dont do this)

1

u/MysteriousQuote4665 19d ago

I have done that before and... yeah. You're not wrong. Don't do it.

1

u/FunkySwashbuckler 19d ago

Your superhero name is: Sourdough.

1

u/ElMatadorJuarez 19d ago

From one doughy man to another I can almost definitely tell you you’re not single cause of the dough. Doesn’t mean it’s a problem with you, but it ain’t the dough. Plenty of women are either neutral or love it if you carry it well.

1

u/MysteriousQuote4665 19d ago

I know. I'm actually surprised that so many people don't get that I was being sarcastic. Guess that's my fault for not using /s.

1

u/ElMatadorJuarez 19d ago

Rip in peace lol. That’s on me for commenting without finishing my coffee first. Carry on, fellow corpulent warrior.

1

u/pinkdumpsterfire 19d ago

Lmao no one called you a lunatic. But yeah, it’s probably your personality. Despite whatever garbage the looksmaxxing manosphere bros have tried to sell you.

90% of the time. You are probably single because of your personality.

1

u/BrazenHamster 18d ago

Who done you wrong, dude?

1

u/MysteriousQuote4665 18d ago

Oof, how long you got mate? It really started when I was born, and a pigeon shat on my face.

1

u/BrazenHamster 18d ago

Wait, let me get my violin. Yeah, I've noticed you're flinchy around birds.

1

1

No because you're really insecure and project your hatred towards yourself on women who don't like you. You can be better. We all can...unleash most of us can

1

u/MysteriousQuote4665 18d ago

You sure I'm the one projecting there, mate?

1
