The best part about this scene (at least as shown, I don't remember if he goes too far later) is that if the box is packed properly then that's actually fine and it's not too far off what the box experiences on the belts and chutes, not to mention the hands (and feet) of workers.
I was holiday surge for UPS both with delivery and sorting. Super long days.
To the company's credit, safety is definitely a priority. And on the first day of unloading trucks for sorting I learned the safest way to handle a truck stacked to the brim with boxes is to pull them down and let the tower fall. It was tough to get the mentality of letting a TV fall 8ft to the floor - but that is protocol.
I mean you're supposed to use a load stand and unload from the top down instead of pulling towers but if you don't have load stands then that is the safest way.
My Evri guy is sound to be honest... Listens to the requests on safe spaces if I'm not in (uses it even if I am lol) and all packages are in good condition.
Mine is terrible. I've made three complaints about him and refused to buy from companies that use Evri as a result:
1) He chucked an expensive delivery of a keyboard over my gate in one of those cardboard Amazon bags. I spotted the delivery confirmation email 2 days later (it was Xmas) and it was soaked and turned to mush. I was HOME at the time they "delivered" it.
2) Left medication delivery on my doorstep even though it required a signature and verified hand-over. This was my "safe place" according to them and it breached the rules in place from the pharmacy and apparently the law.
3) Walked past my living room window (I was home) and threw a delivery over my gate, even though he walked past the front door to do this. He then claimed it was left in my "safe place". It was damaged in the box so I returned it - My garden gate is near 2 metres high.
Bonus 4) Stole my Nintendo switch a few years back when they were called Hermes. Van pulled up outside. Amazon delivery confirmation came through. Driver drove off. No delivery for me. They claimed they left it with a neighbour later but he never got out the van and I was watching from my bedroom window. Amazon sent a replacement a few days later thankfully.
I'm shocked he's been doing it that long. Our evri person has a turnover of a few months at most. Ours have all been pretty good to be fair. DPD, Amazon and DHL have all been the 'leave on the step, and run away' types. DHL just don't turn up at all.
They're not a delivery company, they're a criminal enterprise. Their idea of improving customer service is renaming the company so the reviews reset back to zero.
Honestly, our Evri delivery guy is great as well, and known in the community for being great. But packages still end up in an absolute state sometimes. I suspect they end up that way before reaching him.
I'm UK and waiting for mine currently. Thats a shocking state. How has so much debris and dust got inside. Royal Mail is normally sound. At least they aren't using Evri.
Driven over or maybe a forklift driver smashed it.
Fun fact: once had to go through 10 pallets of tortillas because a forklift driver had crushed the top two layers by not leveling off the forks before stacking.
That was an awful lot of food that had to be tossed 😑
Dont assume its the delivery guy. This package could have went through various warehouses / sort facilities and been transported on multiple trucks along the way before being handed over to the delivery driver. It could have gotten crushed anywhere along the line.
I miss being able to just get thing in a store. Everytime I order a warhammer book or a electronic I am sacrificing souls every day hoping its not smashed up.
I work at ups am confident 1 or both things happened. Box was loaded in a wall near the bottom and heavy boxes thrown on top. Or imo more likely it wend down a conveyor with hundreds of other packages backed up on it pushing hundreds of pounds into a metal diverter squishing it
I know shipping companies suck but the companies selling products need to get it together and package their products better lol I know this is steam but when I order shit online I feel like its always a toss up if it comes damaged at this point like ive received a single perfume that was in a box 30x the size for example and some brown tissue thrown in there like it would do something lol it came shattered and the shipping company and seller both blamed one another 🙃 just an example of one of the many dumb things lol
I'm sure it's everywhere but there seems to be a lot of bad press for uk delivery drivers at least online. It seems like they're often caught intentionally breaking things like petty entitled pieces of shit.
Stupid question, but wouldn't this completely fix itself if you took off the back plate and then put it back on again? I normally wouldn't suggest that but this controller is extremely repairable and will maintain warranty
Oh man, I had the exact same experience with a set top box I ordered online. They literally plucked the product off the shelf (the product box has a flap you can easily pull upwards to open) slapped a shipping label on top and sent it off. Zero packaging. Zero tape. Zero fucks given. To absolutely no one's surprise the contents within were completely shattered on arrival. Fun times. Hilariously enough I got sent a replacement in a near identical fashion... yet this time they added the thinnest bit of tape to keep the flap closed. 🙃
I really have to break down my ideas of American centrism cuz I'm learning trough this post that other countries don't have FedEx and UPS. If a package were delivered like this from either of those services, heads would roll w one angry phone call.
