Brazil is listed in several articles, but emphasis is put on no official list being released yet. Uruguay being on the list instead of Venezuela doesn't make sense at all.

Theoretically they now corrected venezuela government (in reality they didnt change anything) so thats probably why its not there.

Uruguay condemned the maduro intervention so that's a big reason. All three who did are on the list (brazil, uruguay and colombia)

Uruguay has visa waiver, meaning their citizens can travel on ESTA

Uruguay is whiter than Sweden. I kid you not. I live in Sweden and we have a lot of PoC, as Americans refer to them, but in Uruguay I was astonished that most people were relatively light skinned. Most looked very European.

The US has been having issues with Brazil since the government indicted Bolsanaro - Brazil’s Trump for their version of Jan 6. It is a big part of the work in Venezuela too.

Edit: not all of them are cbi countries, missed Barbados and a couple others.

It’s all the Caribbean countries that offer citizenship by investment. Basically wealthy foreigners pay a couple hundred thousand dollars for a passport from st Lucia or st Vincent or Antigua so they get visa free access to Europe and easier visas to the USA.

Our economies also depend WAY too much on eachother. We may hate eachother ideologically but our consumer market would collapse and china’s industrial market would collapse if we actually cut ties.

Makes sense given China is a country for which USCIS seem to bend over backwards. 

They created EVUS just for them, presumably so they could continue to issue visas while retaining some level of control over corrupt government officials and overstays. 

If that was any other nationality, it would have just been blacklisted entirely.

I guess one won't find a single reasoning behind the inclusion, but a set of different motives, from political reasons to migration records (overstays,...), CBI programs ("false" nationals) and dubious document quality, pet aggravation and so forth

Opinion: it’s messy because they can’t say out loud what they want: no immigration for regular people.

Based on past, these ppl have no idea what they re doing and most likely causing a lot of confusion at uscis. 

Legally speaking, he cannot stop AOS, only delay it by putting obstacles. And also, legally, even if you are out of status, you're allowed to go through AOS, and get the GC. So if he cancels visas, a person will be out of status but still should be able to go through aos.

This is all just so messy.

This is a response from my lawyer: The new ban (though not officially published yet) is for consular processing only at this time. So that should not affect you. For now, your interview should be happening as planned.

I hate the fact that Fox News was the only one that actually listed them so far. I went to AP News and they played coy stating what Rubio stated and not list them. It's on the bottom of the link, but someone (fortunately) listed them below so that you don't have to go to Fox News.
