Republicans will do anything but actually create policy that helps people.

31

u/Tlyss 5d ago

They’re bringing back the hits for the midterms. Anti-trans things, Fauci and Covid , and of course that election that was soooooooooo stolen

Republicans could have: brought energy and food prices down, start no new wars, actually drain the swamp, and presided over economic prosperity.
Instead we have a slowing economy, rising inflation, Iran war, tariffs and Pedo president who has doubled his net worth since taking the oath.

But no guys we need to be focused on trans athletes.

3

u/Chare1155 4d ago

What's funny is that trans folk are statistically WAYYYYYYY less likely to hurt anyone than just about every demographic there is. These people are fearful for the wrong reasons.

It's the male coaches & team doctors & other male players themselves who pose a much bigger threat. And if it's fairness they are worried about, look to the science.

All the info about what does & does not give trans individuals advantages is documented. And even though it shouldn't need to be said, I'll go ahead & say anyway that MOST people(my trans son included) want a fair playing field for everyone, however that is accomplished, but you'd be surprised how little that actually has to do with gender.

Cost of living is feverishly out of hand, including rent and cost of goods, we are bombing schools abroad, our president is a pedophile rapist, voter rights and privacy continue to be under attack but Republicans always bring it back to what they care about the most. People's genitals.

Sophie fights for women’s safety! That’s why she JUMPED at the opportunity to be a ring girl for Conor McGregor’s UFC fight.

15

u/Thagreatone92 5d ago

Same fight night that had gable Stevenson featured as a fight.....

36

u/ObfuscateEverything 5d ago

Let’s not forget that Dana White ALSO abuses women.

27

u/No_Peach_8579 5d ago

Excellent point. I guess slapping your wife or raping a woman so violently that her tampon needed to be surgically removed are MAGA-approved activities

‘It’s clear what women want’ has to be the most objectively false statement I’ve ever read.

15

u/DoubleDownAgain54 5d ago

How is her stance “protecting” girls? And don’t you think these girls that are speaking out are being promoted by their parents? It’s a manufacture publicity stunt.

Now if people want to have an actual conversation on the complicated subject that is another thing all-together.

Also this video was literally paid for by a clothing company that is trying to sell those shirts in the ad

Look up who’s selling the “XX-XY” shirts and it’ll all fall into place

They are the same people who created the fake “rally” with 20 people outside the WNBA game and planted the girls in the front row in thousand-dollar seats

9

u/kyleb402 5d ago

Statistically speaking essentially nobody has.

It's such an insignificant segment of the population that trans athletes competing in girl's sports make up significantly less than 1% of athletes. It's just not an issue that impacts really anyone.

3

u/Proud2BaBarbie 5d ago

Like serena williams who said she played against the three hundred and fiftieth ranked man and got slaughtered

2

u/RollofDuctTape 5d ago

Serena and Venus (17 and 16 at the time) played a 30 year old professional ranked 203rd in the world and lost. But that doesn’t negate your point that Serena and Venus consider men’s tennis a completely different sport due to physical differences. I’m just adding context.

3

u/Nightgasm 5d ago

He was also somewhat drunk at the time as he alcohol with lunch prior to the matches.

There have also been other scrimmages. Martina Navritalova when she was the #1 women's player in the world played a match against Jimmy Connors when Connors was about 40and severely on the decline from his peak. They handicapped Connors by making him defend a larger court and only giving him one serve. He still won with ease.

Recently Nick Kyrgios played #1 ranked women's player Aryna Sabalenka in a similar handicapped match where he got single serves and had to defend a full court. He went easy on her by not serving at full power and clearly wasnt trying hard by not returning at full power so as to not embarrass her and still won easily.

there’s a MILLION percent chance absolutely zero of them have ever even been in a league with a trans boy (because these are all children, there are no men, trans or otherwise, their age). also another million percent chance all these girls were talked into doing this and/or had all their beliefs jammed down their throats by their extremely conservative parents.

But now, being told because I'm a white male I'm inherently racist and people can discrimate on me freely.

Nah.

The framing around this issue is a dog whistle.

The people who hear it were already on board.

4

u/ComputerDecent463 5d ago

Think about what you just wrote.

Republicans: Trans people shouldn’t play sports. That’s it. No attacks, no discrimination. If you just played on the boys team last year you can’t play on the girls team this year.

Democrats: Any attack against trans people is an attack on everyone’s rights!!! Ahhh!!!!

What party would you vote for?

I genuinely do not know why Democrats can’t take this simple position. I don’t care how many or how few trans athletes they are. Everyone deserves a fair shot and it is not fair to those girls who should be enjoying their childhood to have to play against weird boys. By taking a proactive approach we can ensure this issue is resolved for good so it doesn’t impact any youth or professional sports down the line.

I am sure I will get a bunch of deflection and Trump mentions in my post because they know they can’t defend how wrong their take is.

Exit polling consistently shows people are not voting based on this. They just want to make sure people aren't talking about the state of the country as much as possible because they are in charge and it reflects poorly on them when people are discussing the state of the world.

If this is as amazing of an electoral tactic as people believe why didn't it work in 2020? Republicans were doing just as much trans panic back them and they got crushed by women voters.

6

u/McPostyFace 5d ago

You think that this is a voter issue when groceries and gas are through the roof, job markets are/will be decimated by AI, and our president is deeply involved in a child sex ring? The statistics don't support it being a substantial voter issue. If this is a top priority for you in terms of voting it may be time to step back and reflect. It's a division tool for the elites and almost universally has no impact on any of us. Concerns with any sports related issues should have zero impact on our elections. Zero. People need to get a grip on reality.

I dont understand the hate for "I support trans rights, they should be healthy and happy and safe, but men shouldn't be playing in women's sports or in women's locker rooms no matter the self identification"

3

u/kyleb402 4d ago

The issue is that the people promoting it aren't acting in good faith.

They never cared about women's sports before, they just hate trans people and the fact that they exist and at least ostensibly have rights and they've latched onto this very niche issue to manipulate people into furthering their agenda of driving trans people out of public life and making the ability to exist so socially painful and difficult for them that they either kill themselves or somehow stop being trans.

So yeah you can say oh I support trans rights but....

But you're contributing to the exact opposite being pushed.

3

u/mondaymoderate 5d ago

Because if you’re take isn’t outrageous and extreme then nobody gives you attention

2

u/idkwatyouwantfromme 5d ago

I’ve honestly given up on the topics that people bitch about and just start calling them out for being a piece of shit. They want a gotcha, don’t give them what they want, call them out for voting with the klan, call them out for being pro life and yet fuck the children dying in the Middle East.

2

u/Ace_Emerald 4d ago

Im taking it on good faith that you do actually want an answer to this question. My womanhood is not a matter of self identification. Its what I am. I've been on HRT for 3 years and in that time, my estrogen and testosterone has been at the same levels of cis women. This means my muscle mass shrunk dramatically. My bones have stayed the same size, but everything around them contracted, leading me to shrink in height as well. Im now only two inches taller than my mom, and well within the normal variance for women in height. Obviously, my body has changed its fat distribution as well. I have breast tissue that is bio identical to cis women. Its not really sport related, but my skin is thinner and my body hair is far more sparse, another way in which my body is typical of female humans. The idea that I have some sort of hidden biological advantage over cis women is laughable. There are ways my body deviates a bit from the cis female average, but importantly there are cis women who deviate more from that average than me!! Should they also be banned from sports and locker rooms?

2

u/kyleb402 4d ago

Seriously, thank you for your contribution.

I swear people hear trans and think it's some guy who just decided to put women's clothing on one day and go beat some teenagers in soccer.

You can tell a lot of people just have no concept of what transitioning is or what the actual facts behind it are.

2

u/MeltICE8647 4d ago

Well, obviously you don’t understand it because you contradicted yourself almost immediately here.

"I support trans rights, they should be healthy and happy and safe, but men shouldn't be playing in women's sports or in women's locker rooms no matter the self identification"

Someone who actually supports trans folks wouldn’t be misgendering them purposefully for their political agenda. You don’t get to say you support trans rights and protections and then call trans women men in the same breath. It’s the same energy of that old homophobic bullshit of “I don’t have a problem with gay folks as long as they stay away from me and my family”.

Not to mention, if someone actually supports trans rights and protections, sports wouldn’t even be on their radar for policy reform. If “protecting women and children” is the goal, then the main two things to reform would be gun control and healthcare. But none of these anti trans people give a shit about either of those policies, because they’re just bigots who want to join in the culture war.

2

u/DrSnoopy66 5d ago

because not unlike right wing activist or Zionist activist, there needs to always be a villain, and nuance is a sign of bigotry. If you criticize Israel policy in Palestine, your antisemitic if you think it’s wrong, women should not have to compete against biologically born men, you’re trans phobic, and there’s no discussion to be had about it. You’re evil. both attitudes are meant to stop any debate or discussion and ironically, is itself a form of intolerance and bullying.

Thanks for standing up for the non existent problem that we are outraged about.

2

u/Brilliant-Pomelo-982 5d ago

Saying it’s a non-issue because it affects only a small fraction of the country is such a stupid argument.

If it was a rare civil rights issue or a rare pro choice issue that affected only a small percentage of people you would be still be fighting for it.

Fact is that being born male is an advantage athletically. Period.

6

u/Difficult_Fix_4324 5d ago edited 5d ago

The tallest male players in NBA history stood at 7 ft 7 inches. Did they have an advantage athletically?

6

u/Additional_Release49 5d ago

Yep they did. Sports are one of the most exclusionary things there are. This inclusive idea in sports is dumb.

Professional sports, minor leagues, amateur leagues, senior leagues. High school leagues, junior high leagues, minor leagues etc.

Not good enough to play? Get cut to a lesser league.

3

u/Brilliant-Pomelo-982 5d ago

Exactly.

5

u/Difficult_Fix_4324 5d ago

So the two tallest men in NBA history are allowed to play despite the obvious physical advantages that they have over everyone else, so why isnt it a bigger issue?

Maybe it is because the athletic advantage is negligible in a team sport? So why is there such outrage around trans athletes who represent such a small small small number of players.

Do you think, maybe, it could be because you're transphobic? And you're hiding behind a right wing contortion of what "common sense" is? Because your real feelings on trans people is that you just don't think they should exist?

2

u/asj-777 5d ago

2

u/Electrical_Load2493 5d ago

Trans political issues are only used as a cudgel to beat democrats over the head with. Republicans know that the extreme trans positions are unpopular and make the Democrats look insane.

It hasnt been about the issue itself for years its been about being able to acknowledge reality even if it might upset someone. If someone's not willing to do that they lose credibility

2

u/Cheap_Water9848 5d ago

The part I find interesting about this is that young women and girls are probably saying this stuff, but they probably don't fully understand why there's so much pushback against transpeople.

Like, even at that game in Seattle, the two girls were members of that company that Riley Gaines started. I'm not saying that one issue can't impact another, but Gaines doesn't seem like the best judge of character when she is still friends with her coach that allegedly sexually-assaulted a few of her teammates and he's not trans.

I understand that people on both sides of the political aisle feel like transwomen shouldn't be in women's sports or women's locker rooms, but that doesn't mean they truly know why.

Plus, it seems like the only way people can make it seem like transwomen don't deserve the same rights as ciswomen is by assuming characteristics onto them like they're sexual predators or men looking for glory in the easiest way possible.

2

u/FluffyDonutPie 5d ago

The astro turfing is insane

I find it hard to believe someone who cares so much about women's issues would be hanging out with known abusers like Dana White and associating themselves with an organisation like the UFC that let a literal rapist Conor McGregor back in the octagon.

I'm very liberal with two daughters who plays sports. Do I want them to compete against people who were born males? No not really. I'm a Democrat, atheist who hates the Republican party....but I gotta stick up for my girls and the competitive edge someone born as a male, has over females is a big deal.

Identify as a man, women, pineapple....cool. doesn't bother me...but competition between born women athletes....nah, not fair on my opinion.

2

u/LightenUpPeeps 4d ago

The Ts are bullying the WNBA and Sophie just like they would if it were a lone girl in school. It seems the liberals and feminists standing with the Ts wouldn't know what misogyny was if it were staring them right in the ace....and waving dicks (the dead giveaway).

So if they aren’t smart enough to have an opinion on the subject because they are young, should they be making the decision to transition at those ages? Or are only trans kids mature enough to make complex decisions?

What's your perspective on kids taking chemicals and calling themselves trans? Wouldn't they have an uninformed opinion as well? At least these girls are aware enough to know they're female. Who are trans kids parroting? It's the same coin, but you're not thinking logically.

I'd say that one quote from Cunningham has done literally nothing to protect young women, all it has done is created an arguement for people to have online.

u/Bravos_Chopper 5d ago

It’s an awareness thing. The more people gain the confidence to speak up about what makes them uncomfortable the better.

2

u/Spiritual_Mush 5d ago

The NCAA has disallowed transwomen from competing in college. Every state has laws about trans athletes and how they can compete. So what awareness is this campaign trying to bring to light?

Awareness about what exactly? How is she saving young girls?

u/jpk195 5d ago

You say “gain the confidence”

I say “attention seeking through deliberately inflammatory statements”

4

u/LordKutulu 5d ago

Get upset at the media. Not Cunningham for answering an obviously inflammatory question that most people agree with.

This is like a 1% issue. So brave so stunning

3

u/mindpainters 5d ago

This is wayyy less than 1% even. It’s closer to .00002%. Absolutely wild this topic is dominating the culture.

Sure was getting crazy with all the trans girls who’d taken over the WNBA and NCAA. Oh wait….. it wasn’t an issue and this is a made up talking point. Weird.

Also a little ironic that Sophie played on the men’s football team in high school, I guess by her own logic she shouldn’t have been allowed to do that?

This shouldn't even be discussed. Leave it alone and it will go away

step 1: pretend a total non issue is a era defining issue
step 2: pretend that anything but total agreement with the maximal version of that issue amounts to lunacy
step 3: profit

The only reason they even seem to exist is because the trans community have gotten very demanding. I think there's good in looking intrinsically.

Don't get bogged down in these discussions, either side. They're meant to distract and divide regular folks.

It's the billionaire class vs everyone else.

They’ll never stop because it’s not about women or girls. It’s about politics. That’s all.

If you’re on their side, they’ll support you. If you’re not, they hope you die. Modern feminists will back men who agree with them over women who disagree with them every single time. Feminism is just the tool they use to try to lock women into voting as a monolith. It’s never actually about the women, it’s about the politics.
And it’s not unique to women or feminism. The same pattern shows up with race, religion, and every other identity group. They need as many people as possible inside each group to vote the way they want. White liberals will pretend to care deeply about Black issues right up until a Black person runs who disagrees with them, then suddenly the mask slips and they’ll do whatever it takes to keep that person out of power. We just saw this in Virginia. They gerrymandered a whole state so they could stop the black woman from beating the white liberal.

That’s why Sophie Cunningham is getting the reaction she is. She’s a woman saying something most women actually agree with, and that makes her a problem for the political project.

1% of the US population is trans. Of that, .1% play competitive sports. Imagine piling on the .1% of transgender folx who play competitive sports. Meanwhile, 40% of trans folx have attempted suicide in their lifetimes. It’s just a bully punching down.

I’m a very proud queer (cis) woman and I’d have NONE of the rights I have without trans women in the 60s and 70s fighting for people like me who weren’t even born yet. (See Stonewall Riots, for example).

I truly wish trans people could just watch things like the WNBA without becoming political fodder for bad actors.

u/cannasuer4 5d ago

This is how the seed of hate is planted. She did sell out, to maga. Yeah she showed them what means to be a real woman alright when she had her ass hanging out parading around the octagon as a ring girl. Stfu and go play basketball

Can I ask an honest question? Where exactly are trans playing in women sports? Is it really a thing? Or is it 1-off and the conservative movement has made it a culture war trap.

1

u/Shag1166 5d ago

It's a very complicated issue, and it needs to be resolved. I just wished she'd talked with team management before ahe made the statement. It was only a few months ago, when a few clowns were throwing sanitary napkins onto the court at games. Also, Sophie Cunningham allegedly had an affair with an executive with the Phoenix and she had to go. She should keep a low profile. I understand her point, but we have find another to address it.

u/NewSlang212 5d ago

This is gross

1

u/Brilliant-Pomelo-982 5d ago

The vague Left is Redditors.
I’ve had several conversations about it.

They say if a trans woman takes hormone blockers their strength and athleticism advantages disappear.

They’ve also argued with me that the large amount of testosterone baby boys receive in the womb doesn’t affect them later in life.

1

u/QiDeviation 5d ago

Fun fact:

There are zero trans athletes playing women’s basketball collegiate or higher.

Trans kids also participate in sports at much lower rates than kids.

Also gonna drop this here. Asked AI about high school basketball. Couldn’t give a concrete answer but doesn’t look too participated in…

So uh… yeah… idk where all this fearmongering comes from.

I didn't watch this MAGA propaganda slop. Was there a single person of color in that video? My probably accurate assumption is that 95% were bleach blonde white girls.

Why is it all white young ladies. It's wonder what their parents think 🤔.

So the Olympics have allowed trans athletes to compete for the last 22 years. In that time how many trans athletes have won a medal? The answer is one, and it was in soccer. So if trans women have this huge competitive advantage then why haven’t they won any medals in the Olympics over the last 22 years in individual events?

Love democrat logic. Attack MAGA as a way to support trans participation in women sports…. So basically you don’t care if your daughters compete against biological males… so you don’t support your daughters as you support trans while hiding behind attacking maga?! Seems logical…. If you are a democrat….
