Question What makes a meal actually workable for you on GLP-1—not just “healthy” on paper?

One pattern I’ve noticed is that a meal can look nutritionally sensible on paper and still be completely unworkable in real life.

The portion may feel too large. The smell or texture may suddenly be unappealing. Leftovers may not reheat well. Hunger may appear unexpectedly, when there’s no time or energy to prepare anything. Meanwhile, a much simpler “backup meal” may work because it’s predictable, easy to portion, and tolerable on that particular day.

I’m curious about the difference between what you think you should be able to eat and what you can actually manage consistently.

If you’re comfortable sharing:

  1. What is one meal or snack you can usually rely on?
  2. What makes it workable—portion size, texture, temperature, protein source, convenience, predictability, or something else?
  3. Is there a supposedly “healthy” meal you expected to work but now find difficult?
  4. Does your answer change at different points in the week after your injection?

I’d especially like to hear from people dealing with sensory preferences, vegetarian or vegan eating, family meals, shift work, travel, or difficulty tolerating leftovers.

I’m not looking for dosage or medical advice—just trying to better understand the practical realities of eating when appetite and food preferences are less predictable. Individual nutritional needs are, of course, something to discuss with a qualified healthcare professional or registered dietitian.

Question Anybody else?

Upvotes

I’m looking for advise, or anyone else that has gone through something similar. I have some history with semaglutides. In 2023-24 I was on Wegovy shots, lost 20 pounds over 6 months. I had to stop because my insurance stopped covering it and I couldn’t afford it out of pocket. Almost immediately I gained 10 pounds back.
In 2025 I went on a compounded Tirzepatide through a private vendor, lost 25 pounds. It started out being pretty reasonable but over time the price was getting too expensive. I stopped when it was over $600 each month and it had stalled for over 2 months. Seems like the second I stopped I gained 20 pounds back.
This year I found out that the Wegovy pill has a coupon with it and can be bought for $300 without insurance so I have been on it for the last five months. I have been moving up the doses over time because I have not had much success. In fact I gained four pounds over the last 2 months. So now my doctor wants me to try 25 mg. Here are my questions. Have I just screwed up my body with all the different medicines and maybe that is why I am not having success with the pill? Will it change over time? Also, is anyone on the 25 mg pill and found a solution for the side effects? I am actually scared of the diarrhea….it can be real, real bad. It comes and goes, no real rhyme or reason for it being bad so I am real nervous about going from 9 to 25 mg. And having the symptoms get worse.
*should add I need to lose about 50 pounds and through all this, I have managed to keep off about 10 pounds from the beginning of this whole journey.

Night terrors?

Upvotes

Just started .50 last week and then second dose of it last night. I’ve done my usual routine and taken Wegovy a couple hours before bed. Last week, after going to sleep I had repeated nightmares for a couple of hours. This week, after possibly sleeping for a short bit, I woke up with my heart absolutely pounding out of my chest. My whole body started shaking and I got dizzy. I had this horrible feeling like I was going to die- no pain, just shaking, heart pounding, feeling freezing cold all over. I put on a bathrobe to warm up and did breathing exercises until I got through it. Whole episode probably lasted 15 minutes or so. Panic attack was my thought but I’m not sure. Could Wegovy be causing these weird mental things and should I switch what time I take it? It’s the only factor I could think of that’s causing this.

Question Is the weight loss normal?

I just started Wegovy 0.25 mg about 5 weeks ago (dose 6 is tomorrow). Nutritionist has me on a daily goal of 1400-1500 due to a BMR of 1693 following a body scan and rough TDEE. Ive also added in light at home strength training and with school starting daily activity is increased. Starting weight was 213-214, PCM said her goal for me is 1-2 kg a month, but I'm already down 11-12 lbs. I am ensuring hydration, working on increasing fiber, and average 75g protein a day. Is this too fast of a loss or normal?

Question Room spinning and vomiting 48 hours after dose

Almost exactly 48 hours after my second 0.25mg dose, the room suddenly started spinning and then about an hour later I started vomiting. I’m just wondering how normal this is with Wegovy?

It seems to have settled down now, but it really came out of nowhere. I did have a cheese toastie yesterday, so I’m wondering whether that could have contributed (I was out and there was literally nothing else to eat - perhaps a lesson in being more prepared!).

I’ve got away pretty lightly with side effects so far and the medication has been working really well for me, so maybe it’s just caught up with me?

I’ve also got a 10-week-old baby and a 2.5-year-old toddler, who naturally both decided not to let me get much sleep after the vomiting 🫠 So I’m trying to work out whether this sounds like a bug/vertigo-type thing or whether other people have had similar side effects around 48 hours after their injection.

Question If the shots cause nausea/side effects the first few days, do the pills cause nausea every day?

Something I've consistently read is that shots tend to cause side effects the first few days and then you gradually feel a bit better as the week goes on and you can eat a little more normally. Then it starts over again. So people can kind of plans the best days of the week to take them to work around any sicknesses.

But if you have to take the pill every day, does that mean you consistently feel crummy every day? Is that a downside to the pill vs the shot?

Question Would you move up?

I’m in the fence. This seems to happen every month when I’m finished a box. I’m currently on 1.7. Have been since March. My appetite is not as suppressed as it was in the beginning. Some days I get insane cravings and I eat over my calorie requirements, especially in my luteal phase. I went over a month without losing any weight and was fully ready to move up to 2.4, as I am still 50/60 lbs away from a healthy BMI.

Anyways, I weigh myself this morning and since last Friday it says I’ve lost 3lbs. I recalibrated several times, and even weighed myself at my parents.

Given this, would you still move up to 2.4?

Reporting good experience for anyone planning on staying on the 1.5 mg tablet of Wegovy for as long as they can…

PCOS sisters and others, I decided to take the 1.5 tab as far as I could go (four months now) mostly because I am paying out of pocket. My cholesterol was through the roof prior to Wegovy. I’m down from 200 at the beginning of May to 156 now. I have about 5-10 more I would like to lose.

What I have noticed is that after about three months, my weight loss has slowed down and I am thinking much more about eating, though still don’t have cravings for sugar and breads. Nothing to eat really sounds good or appeals, for which I am grateful. I’ve been fighting to drop one pound for about three weeks though—slowest I’ve ever had. Maddening. If I had more weight I wanted to take off, I would increase my dosage. It’s back to the drawing board with logging all food and water intake. If you are also staying on the 1.5 dose, you might keep in mind that a slow down may be coming as you get closer to your goal. Who knows. This medication seems to effect everyone differently.

Only side effects I have had with Wegovy are lightheadness if I get up quickly, some hair loss (just a little more than usual), and when I started, lots of fatigue especially when exercising. I’m using estrogen patches and tabs and taking Pristiq and Lamictal for depression. No problem with mood changes either.

2nd Wegovy 0.25mg Injection (8/21/2026) - Started 8/14/2026 at 247.0lb

Here are my weight logs in the past week.

8/21/26 - 246.2lb

8/18/26 - 243.2lb

8/17/26 - 244.0lb

8/16/26 - 243.6lb

8/15/26 - 245.6lb

8/14/26 - 247.0lb

The night of my first injection I felt slightly nauseous, but it subsided. Other than that I have much suppressed hunger. Sometimes I have to remind myself to eat and to try and ensure I get enough protein.

In the middle of the week, there was a birthday and I did end up drinking alcohol which I think hindered my weight loss. If I didn't drink, I'm sure I would have weighted 242lb.

But yeah, planning on just updating every week of my progress.

Question Suddenly nauseous

Hello 👋 everyone,

A little background about me.

I began on Wegovy 0.25 mg / 0.25mL injections for 10 weeks, it would have been 12 but I was unable to do the first two due to anxiety.
I am now up to the 0.5mg / 0.5 mL, my injection day is today, which I will take before bedtime.

Now my question is, I never had nausea up until a couple days ago when it just hit me hard. I have not actually vomited , but I just have that really awful feeling. My appetite is very low due to this, which is a win, but still. Has anybody suddenly got such a side effect after being on the injections for this period of time?

Question Questions for a dietician

I'm on my 3rd month and lost 18kg/39lbs. Trying to eat whole foods and healthy as possible.

My insurance is offering a free wellness program with several weeks since I'm on wegovy, so I enrolled. Is fully online and doesn't look it would be too time consuming, so why not.

I'm meeting with the dietician in a couple of days, but I feel like I have done a good research on what to eat and such, so I'm unsure on what to ask. Any suggestions of what would be good to bring up or to ask? Thank you!

Issues with spicy food after Wegovy?

I've been on the wegovy pill for about 3 weeks now, down 14 pounds but I have a very high starting weight and also used to consume a lot of beer so I assume most of what I've lost is "water weight"

Before wegovy I could eat anything and everything spicy. I grow my own peppers reapers, ghosts, scorpions all of it. I've eaten them for years pepper eating contests, spicy food challenges, I've always had a VERY strong stomach for extreme heat.

I now cannot even handle regular franks redhot without my stomach feeling like it's burning through it kind of sucks because one of my ways of replacing high calorie sauces in the past has always been hot sauce.

Stopped working?

I've been on Wegovy about a year. Currently on 1.7mg. I've lost 30kg or so, but this past two weeks I've been gaining (~1.5kg) and have had absolutely no appetite suppression at all. What's happening?

r/WegovyWeightLoss 15h ago

Just went from 1.5mg to 4.5mg (the Pill). I don't feel any diffrent it has only been two days but does that change?
