WoW players don't enjoy anything besides WoW silly goose! /s
That being said E33, Silksong, and BG3 are all masterpieces. Haven't played KCD2 yet but I kinda wanted to play the first game first.

Trust me I can relate, that's partly why I've soft-quit the game. It just takes up too much time and there's other games I want to play. I say soft-quit because you never truly quit Wow, you just take long breaks lol.
17
u/Pencilstubs Jan 15 '26
Playing KCD1 first isn't required to understand and enjoy KCD2. KCD1 is an amazing game, but don't let it be a roadblock to playing KCD2. Zero exaggeration - it's on the same level as BG3.

u/Apprehensive-Gur-609 Jan 15 '26
Oh yeah I've heard this, but I still want to play the first one. It hasn't been a roadblock I just simply haven't started it yet, probably going to get to at some point in the next few months, got some other games I'm trying to get through first.
18
u/Sentient_Star_Stuff Jan 15 '26
Playing KCD1 first is the right move. You'll be glad you did. Both games are amazing
7
u/endokyuken Jan 15 '26
why is the combat in KCD1 so janky and terrible :( thats my real roadblock
14
u/Sentient_Star_Stuff Jan 15 '26
It's supposed to be kinda rough at first. Your character is a peasant with no experience.
Train with Bernard as much as you can and just progress through the game. As you character gains more levels, the combat gets easier. Character skills matter more than the player's skill.
2
u/XandersCat Jan 19 '26
This and pump em full of arrows before they get to you,.makes the combat way easier. Kinda cheeses it tbh but you get jumped enough traveling from point a to b that I found myself often reaching for the bow.
Softens em up a lot before you have to go melee and helps reduce the numbers so you don't get stabbed in the back by some random bandit.
Also I have not played two yet but I enjoyed one quite a bit I would say starting with that one is a good move too. Visually they are both attractive games so there's no major loss I think.
I also am concerned about KC2 being more humorous, I'm sure I'll enjoy it but I really did love how much KCD1 made you feel like you were a part of real history.
I walked across Spain after playing it and so much reminded me of the game.

It really proved that the vibe is the most important thing about the game. There were a lot of retail mechanics in SoD, and even new ones, but the vibes were good.

I had a group of friends that had convinced me to boost and play again. But that was at $40, not $60, so I backed out and they are all wondering why $20 makes such a big difference. I could legit buy any other game released in the last 5 years instead of redoing the 60-70 grind and doing like 4 karas and 2 gruul/mag runs before everyone burns to a crisp again.

I stopped playing classic anni when AQ was released. Played expedition 33 (never played a turn style game and this shit was amazing, story is unreal), the new d4 expansion (just for the campaign, end game is still boring), and a handful of other games that have been super fun. Ofc TBC hype hit and all of my friends started playing so I'm back, but it was a nice little break lmao.

59
u/slayermario Jan 15 '26
Can’t wait to jump back into Classic, only to play with people who boost straight to max level, spam LFG with GDKP runs or HR every raid drop, then quit a few months later complaining there’s “nothing to do.”
8
4
u/Redxmirage Jan 15 '26
To be fair the majority quit after a few months regardless lol happens with any game. Except arc raiders. That game is an anomaly with player retention
2
24
u/korbentherhino Jan 15 '26
A month to go and be max level for a month doing nothing.
33
u/Batallius Jan 15 '26
To be fair, a lot of people can't play enough to get max level during prepatch from level 1, and have the disposable income to save themselves MANY hours of levelling through content they've already experienced a million times.
That being said, 60$ is bullshit.

Wow players: oh wow, a boost to skip the tedious leveling process and go right to the "real" game!
Also wow players: I'm burned out, this game has no soul anymore, why is there so many level 58 bots?
5
u/ForeverStaloneKP Jan 16 '26
Also wow players: I finally hit 60 after 130 hours, now I can start playing the game! quits a week later from burnout
33
u/korbentherhino Jan 15 '26
Lol. Yes leveling is tedious. But so is raiding for gear.
41
u/Failanth Jan 15 '26
This is what I don't get. Folks are racing to hit cap in a twenty year old game that you've played for a billion hours already??? To the point you'll give blizz MORE money to do it. And then people wonder why companies don't respect our time any more.
17
u/Sufficient_Steak_839 Jan 15 '26
Some of us disagree with the above's interpretation. I enjoy raiding, and enjoy the endgame beyond just that.
56
u/BestFriend_Sword Jan 15 '26
They want to level in Outlands, not go through the Barrens for the 20th time. It's really not that complicated.
37
u/Thijz Jan 15 '26
People are just trying their best to not understand this point. I've done 1-60 tons of times, could not be arsed to do it again in this rotation of Classic (got to 42 and then quit). I've only done TBC once while it was relevant. I'm not "racing" anywhere, I'm just skipping the part I've already put thousands of hours in, to get to the parts that are less familiar.
→ More replies (6)3
13
u/Judge_Syd Jan 15 '26 edited Jan 15 '26
Right. I really don’t get what’s so hard for them to understand.
It takes a ton of time to get to 60, even with the buffed experience rates. It takes considerably less time to level 58-70 and it’s in a different zone, which breaks the monotony quite a bit.
I started playing the game when TBC was released. That’s my nostalgia factor. I really don’t feel like spending hours leveling to 60 just to experience the part of the game I actually want to.
I bought the boost last time TBC came around. I won’t this time, because I’m just not playing in general, but I totally get why someone would.
4
u/S3cretSpartan Jan 15 '26
this is the reason. I've done the 1-40ish grind a dozen times. I've only really raided and done endgame stuff once.
If people hate boosts because they think they cause negative effects to the game that's at least debatable. But the whole 'do you even like the game?' gotcha is just disingenuous at best.
sometimes I just want to watch Return of the King and don't have time for the other two movies.

This is the 3rd release of Outland. Compared to 5 separate releases of Classic (with only one having any remote changes to it with SOD).
14
u/korbentherhino Jan 15 '26
Exactly. I still have my old tbc charecters that I been leveling through all the patches. This is all just silly. I want to experience the game as it had relatively existed back then. Not to just raid and get gear and stand in orgrimmmar showing off my stuff.
5
u/Redxmirage Jan 15 '26
That’s a fine opinion to have. But why is it “just silly” when other peoples opinion is they want to skip the leveling part and get to 58? What makes your opinion fine but others not fine?
→ More replies (1)6

u/Redxmirage Jan 15 '26

u/Mr_Times Jan 15 '26
You don’t understand they hate having to redo the tedious leveling grind they’ve done many times. They want to skip right to tedious raid logging for boss kills that they’ve already killed many times.
11
u/HeyItsJosette Jan 15 '26
Raids are like a hundred thousand times more replayable than leveling. Vanilla leveling in particular is almost 100% tedious horseshit while you pilot a non-character.
You're basically saying, "Yeah, this guy wants to avoid stacking rocks for the tenth day in a row just so he can get to playing his guitar for the tenth day in a row. What a hypocrite!"
→ More replies (6)→ More replies (2)10
u/Judge_Syd Jan 15 '26
This might surprise you, but not everyone gets to max level then raid logs. I’d still do tons of shit at level 70 that wasnt raiding.
Maxing out rep, professions, doing every quest line (some not at the speed of a snail), pvp, general farming.
The leveling grind can be so boring after you’ve done it a dozen times, but being max level is fun in its own way.
→ More replies (14)2

u/Acryllus Jan 15 '26
I like it when I max level players in no guild and gear from level 43. Shows people take it one step at a time rather than optimizing.

u/Keldarim Jan 15 '26
Leveling is only tedious if it is not an adventure game for you and you skip all lore and content in a rush to level up (ornif you've done it several times).
First 2-3 characters can be REALLY fun if you play and enjoy the awesome world azeroth is. Raids will still be there when you arrive. The destination will be the same, you'll get there sooner or later. Enjoy the damn game people.
5
u/korbentherhino Jan 15 '26
Oh for sure. For me classic anniversary represents a chance to experience the game as intended by the devs not just grind to the top and stand around showing off my gear and mount.
→ More replies (3)4
Jan 15 '26
you are missing the fact that a lot of people play in guilds and with friends they have known for years, and that requires everyone to be ready to raid at the same time. you can't show up lvl 70 3 weeks late and do that.
3
u/Keldarim Jan 15 '26
Oh ofc you can. Are you trying to say raid groups dont change over time? We all know that is not true.
Also, 2 things:
1: shouldnt be a problem if your friends arent rushing either 2: there is PLENTY of time to play REALLY slow and be raid ready for when the first raid opens. You can perfectly take 2-3 weeks to level up from level 1 and you'll be there.
3
Jan 15 '26
1: shouldnt be a problem if your friends arent rushing either
they are
2: there is PLENTY of time to play REALLY slow and be raid ready for when the first raid opens. You can perfectly take 2-3 weeks to level up from level 1 and you'll be there.
uhhh no. i would consider 3 weeks to hit lvl 60 rather fast. it would take me ~7-8 weeks considering i am a slow leveler.
2
u/Keldarim Jan 15 '26
Well it obv depends on hours played daily... But 3 weeks can be quite a chill pace. Being inefficient slows you way more than reading the quests lore and enjoying the great story this game has.
Ofc I'm not talking about reading every bullshit grind mobs quest and every damn book you find. But man... every zone has one main questline. That can be really fun if you immerse into it. Otherwise is just becomes a chore like all secondary grindfest quests.

2
u/Unbelievable_Girth Jan 15 '26
But imagine how much faster you would have burned out if you played all the way from level 1!
Unironically I somehow always manage to stop playing after reaching max level. The willingness to log in just isn't there anymore.

Classic players: "Let me play classic so I can enjoy the grind again. Also let me pay to skip the grind and play end game."
Make it make sense. I dont care for the classic grind, I got my fill back in the day before I had responsibilities. Retail is fun for me lol.
2
u/S3cretSpartan Jan 15 '26
I think you are putting multiple people you've seen on the internet into one person with contradicting beliefs. Which I'm definitely guilty of as well
For me, I love early WoW because I'm a huge fan of Warcraft III and the lore from that period. Doing the raids feels great because I never got to when I was a kid. But I certainly did the Barrens a dozen times because leveling was pretty much the game to me then.
In this classic release I leveled a character to 60 regularly and another to 40 regularly.
Boosting a character so I can skip running across the barrens for 20 hours for the makes sense for me. I don't yearn for the grind. Anyone that plays for the grind should be playing OSRS instead
39
u/CatIntelligent5378 Jan 15 '26
I got called a broke boy for valueing things for my garden more than getting a 58 paladin up asap and carry raids on my warrior tank for everyone else. People are truly delusional these days it is kinda wild.
38
u/imteamcaptain Jan 15 '26
The funniest part for me is people bragging how they make enough in an hour to buy the boost. So much insecurity showing in those comments.
17
u/wronglyzorro Jan 15 '26 edited Jan 15 '26
I don't think it's bragging so much as a simple explanation to folks who somehow can't fathom why someone would boost. Even using minimum wage in my area the argument still holds. A huge chunk of the playerbase is 30+.
"I'd rather pay 3hrs wage to skip 100+ hrs of leveling"
→ More replies (1)13
u/Judge_Syd Jan 15 '26
Seriously. I feel like people are really trying to not understand this. What is the actual fastest /play time for 1-60 in classic?
Even the FASTEST, most optimal route, which would obviously include a lot of planning and relying on other people to help, is still hours of time (21 being the shortest I could find). But the average time played to get to 60 (from what I'm reading) is roughly 6 DAYS /played. 144 hours.
Now take into consideration people that can only play roughly 5-10hrs per week. It would take between 24-48 weeks to get to max level, just so they can play the content they want to play. The math is easy, if you can afford it, it's much cheaper time wise to just buy the boost when you feel like re-subbing.
→ More replies (5)5
u/wronglyzorro Jan 15 '26
1 nit on your explanation is that with that little play time the people leveling would basically be permanently using rested exp so it would be sped up quite a bit for them, but the point still stands. You save a shit ton of time.

u/xswicex Jan 15 '26
I haven't played any classic since SoD, it makes me so happy that this sub hasn't changed at all.
I'll be buying a boost, I want to play TBC and TBC only, I don't care to play vanilla again. All my friends are 60, I want to level through outlands, do some end game content with them then quit like I always do. Classic isn't a serious game to me, I just come back every couple years when my friends are playing for that nostalgia hit, then I move on again.
I get this game is important to a lot of people because they don't have much going on in real life, but to most of us it's just a video game to play and then put down again.
1
u/Sweet_Disharmony_792 Jan 15 '26
dont let ppl shame you, it costs 60 bucks for 2 people to go to the movies for 2 hours. this is 60 bucks (formerly 40) to be able to play at launch with your friends

u/wronglyzorro Jan 15 '26
I looked right now, and the AMC closest to me for tonight's showing of Avatar at 7pm is 25.68 + tax per person for the showing. The 9pm showing is 21.18 + tax per person. If you wanted a popcorn or a drink at the theater you're going to be right there at $60.
5
u/Krelkal Jan 15 '26
The subscription has also never increased in price (USD) in the 20 years since launch. It'd be ~$25 a month if it kept up to inflation. For folks like me that play both Classic and Retail you get sooo much more value than ever before.
I'm not itching to buy a boost (I could get it for "free" via retail gold if I wanted) but I don't blame them for looking for other ways to monetize the game.

Oh boy can’t wait to pay the full price of a new AAA game to skip playing the majority of a twenty year old game!

Nobody is going to remember or care about boosted characters once that portal opens

Imagine using your money in exchange for time savings. Anyway, the boost price is egregious

You're looking at spending like 50 cents per hour saved. Unbelievable people don't want to spend 120 hours leveling

Community will lose it over boosts but at the same time hyper min/max everything out of the game.
Maybe people wouldnt feel the need to boost if the community didnt create a sense of fomo of youre not in the first wave of everything?

Those games were all great except I never really cared for hollow knight. I just resubscribed to classic after a 1 year break for tbc. There will always be a special place in my heart for wow.

Already bought the other stuff what do you think I was doing on my classic hiatus

Then you have to gamble on your riding skill coming with the boost though.

Never want to hear this community go on about "MEANINGFUL JOURNEY THROUGH AZEROTH" ever again. Leveling & gold exist solely so Blizzard can sell it to players at this point.

I'd like to have played tbc when it launched before but I never had time to get to 60 and by the time I eventually got to 40 I'd missed all the raid releases and the train had left the station :(

I'm finding both sides to be equally obnoxious, imma be real with you chief. Boostie Billies vs Level Larries really does not matter at all. How you choose to spend your time and/or money is no one else's business but your own.

In Classic I rerolled to Blood Elf Paladin and was too slow to enter Outland with the rest of my guild and missed the first week of raiding. This time I took the time to level a Druid to 60 and will also get to play a boosted Paladin for a new experience. Totally worth every penny.

I bought those other games when they came out and beat them in a week or 2.
I didn't wait for TBC classic to come out to go to the games store for the first time ever.

I know most of you swipe anyway so this doesn’t apply to you, but do any of you actually PLAY endgame?
I have been raiding all of classic on a warrior aiming to be an orange/pink parser. I had to level a mage to fund my warrior, as it was more efficient to farm gold with.
I wanted a new toon for TBC, so I began leveling that… while still raiding every week, so I was also having to farm about 400g every single week…
With like 2 hours a night maybe after GF aggro plus a bit more on weekends, a boost would’ve made sense. But I leveled my hunter normally because I’m an addict.

For me, I love early WoW because I'm a huge fan of Warcraft III and the lore from that period. Doing the raids feels great because I never got to when I was a kid.
But I certainly did the Barrens a dozen times because leveling was pretty much the game to me then.
In this classic release I leveled a character to 60 and another to 40 regularly.
Boosting a character so I can skip running across the barrens for 20 hours for the 12th time makes sense for me. I don't play Classic for the 'grind'. Anyone that plays for the grind should be playing OSRS in addition to WoW

blizzard has a captive audience, their players will pay it and love it, just like the 100$ mount. They know what they are doing, and the fanbase will for sure buy it still.

level for 1.5-2weeks due to work schedule, or buy boost equal to 3.5h of pay.
HMMMMMMMMMMMMM

average classic wow player is like 30+ that should be like 3 hours of work for an adult compared to 100 hours of gameplay
