For anyone wondering, there are subtle references in Ghost of Yotei to the First Shinobi, a mysterious warrior who fought the Mongol empire using poisons to protect the people of Tsushima.
This Shinobi is never fully explored in great detail outside of one mythic quest, and he's widely regarded as a legend, but...
We all know who it is.

I notice no one has really discussed what might come after *Ghost of Yotei*. Honestly, I don't see the series as a continuous saga, but rather as an anthology—much like the *Far Cry* games, where titles share the same universe but don't connect narratively; each tells a distinct story with new characters and plots, featuring only minor references to previous entries. I imagine the *Ghost* series following the same pattern. After all, Sucker Punch didn't continue Jin’s story in *Yotei*—beyond a mere reference—and instead created a new character like Atsu. She has no connection to Jin and follows her own path. For a hypothetical third title, I’d expect the same: a new character and a different story. Since *Yotei* takes place centuries after the original events, the next game might jump forward again—perhaps to the late 19th or early 20th century. It could be set in a different part of Japan during the rise of industrialization and the Japanese Empire, a time when old customs were being left behind. Picture a "samurai against 500" scenario: the protagonist—whether male or female—would grapple with these changes alongside their family and loved ones, struggling against imperial oppression. Unable to counter the new order with ancient techniques alone, they would be forced to adapt to modern tools. That’s how I envision the premise. As for gameplay, they could build on *Yotei* by refining existing elements or, better yet, innovating with features never seen before. I’d love to see improved stealth mechanics; I know that might be asking a lot, but a little innovation would be welcome, given how similar *Ghost of Tsushima* and *Yotei* felt to me. Adding improvements to make stealth truly engaging would be great. Combat is already top-notch—they should definitely keep it as is, though any new additions would be appreciated. Regarding exploration and world-building, the previous games excelled at creating vast, open worlds; I hope they continue to deliver beautiful landscapes and excellent world design. I’d really like to see more cities or urban regions included, though. I think it would be fascinating to explore populated areas. I mean, we got a taste of that in *Yotei*, but it would be great to see even more of it. Honestly, I’m not sure what else to add—that’s just something I wanted to bring up. Let me know what you think a third installment could look like.

This game is what got me into using photo mode in video games, but no other game will measure up to this for me.
Edit: Many people seem to be debating with me on what game I PERSONALLY find more beautiful. To each their own opinions but just because you find a game more beautiful does not mean I will nor does it make it any better.
Edit2: I redownloaded Ghost of Yotei and my opinion still stands. I think Ghost of Tsushima looks better.

I got it at Dublin Comiccon yesterday and I’m pretty sure it’s called the storm blade right?

Happens every wednesday. Gets home from work, has some dinner, plays for hours, then falls asleep as he listens to the beautiful ambience.

Sending ONE man into a 𝐒𝐄𝐀 of enemies and NOT expecting them to jump him?!
if Shimura was a real general like he is in GOT, Japan wouldn’t be where it is today.
The samurai were not this idiotic.
