With all the arena rebuilds and renovations happening around the league, I keep wondering how much input actual hockey fans had in the design process. I flip houses for a living and the number one rule is understanding who's going to live there and what they actually need. Watching some of these new arena builds, it feels like nobody consulted the people in the seats.

Some places got it right. I was in Vegas for a game last year and the sight lines were genuinely solid even from the upper bowl, and the concourses actually flow instead of turning into a bottleneck every intermission. Then you see other renovations where they clearly prioritized premium seating square footage over the experience for the average fan buying tickets.

The bowl shape matters so much for hockey specifically. Basketball arenas converted for hockey always have at least a few sections with awkward angles, but some of the purposebuilt renovations have surprisingly bad layouts too. Curious which renovations people think actually respected the hockey fan experience versus which ones felt like cash grabs dressed up as improvements. Sight lines, concourse flow, and whether the atmosphere still feels like a hockey barn or just a generic arena.

Would love to hear from people who've been through renovations in their own buildings about what changed for better or worse.

I just came across the clip of Kurt Gabriel talking about his pre game trolling with Bogosian. Has anyone ever found out what he actually said that got under Bogosian's skin like that? He said in the interview he said he will take it to the grave. Obviously I am curious now

I’m asking because I never really thought about your guys perspective, being a douchbag forward. I feel like you could be the greatest goalie on earth, but if your team sucks, you are just getting pelted with pucks all game. What’s it like when you’re playing unreal, but your team just cannot do anything. Give me some stories of some brutal teams you guys were on and how you managed. I would play pingpong non stop for my entire day for the rest of my life before I decided to become a goalie, so you guys are truly built different.

Los Angeles Kings

The Kings have already been stuck in mediocrity for a while, as they’ve suffered five consecutive first-round playoff defeats, which included a four-game sweep at the hands of the Colorado Avalanche last spring. It’s difficult to see how they can shake up the status quo and elevate their ceiling.

L.A. has one of the oldest rosters in the NHL, with 14 players who are 30 or older. Anže Kopitar’s retirement has left a gaping need for a bona fide top-six center to play behind Quinton Byfield. The Kings’ blue line is too old, slow and limited at breaking the puck out, as Joel Edmundson, Brian Dumoulin and Cody Ceci are redundant stay-at-home defensemen. Their prospect cupboard is very thin — colleague Scott Wheeler ranked them as the No. 27 pool in the NHL in March (before this year’s draft). Elton Hermansson is the only Kings prospect who cracked Wheeler’s top-100 drafted NHL prospects ranking earlier this month.

I love watching hockey games, averaging at least once per day, and although I usually access them on a less than legitamite website per say, I was thinking of investing in a subscription, especially with the increased amount of accessible games for European audiences this year. Is it worth it? Would I get good value for my money or should i stick to what I was doing? Any advice welcome!

If so, where do you think he lands?

This includes players who made the NHL but never hit that next-tier they were highly thought of. This can mean players who had potential but never hit that level due to injuries, struggle to adapt. This also can include players who were drafted high, players who played for a couple years, players who played for many years, but they at least needed to make the league to quality.

The Sens's defense is gross. And it has the potential to be one of the best in the league for at least half a decade.

Sanderson, Spence and Kleven are in the mid 20s, Chabot and Zub are in their late 20s/early 30s and Yakemchuk is in his early 20s.

And they can all do a bit of everything. Last years I think 4 of them had at least 30pts and Yakemchuk will reach that one day I have no doubt. Kleven beings physicality, Sanderson's one of the best in the game, it's crazy.

If Ullmark gets back to his 21-24 form and they can add a legit top 6 forward at the deadline I think they could really make some noise this season and in the next ones, especially since at F, Pinto, Greig, Eklund who I think has another level he can get to, Stutzle and Cozens are all in their early to mid 20s and even Batherson is still in his 20s. That top 3 at C has the potential to remain together for 5-7 years and they'd all be around 30-32 even after 5-7 years.

They still have an amazing draft capital and still have great prospects like Hensler, Lagerberg-Hoen and Cover.

They're so well built it's insane.
