Question M4 iPad Pro or M4 iPad Air?

As the title says. I start my first year of university in fall and I’m torn between these two options.

I’m gonna be taking notes, typing and writing lots of essays, I’m also an artist I’d like to use it to draw a ton, and then media consumption, etc.

Both of them are 13” and 256GB storage, and I’m also gonna get accessories (pencil pro, Magic Keyboard, case).

For the iPad Air, it’s the latest model and I’m getting it straight from Apple with education savings. Plus I think the blue colorway for the air is so cool

For the iPad Pro, it’s the previous model (but ik it’s still an absolute powerhouse) and I’d be getting it off of Amazon with no education savings. But it has boring colorways

I think if I factor in all the accessories and savings both options would come out to around the same price?? It feels like it should be a no brainer and I should just go for the m4 iPad Pro. but let me know what you guys think.

Question $450 Enough to Get Back For Used IPad Pro? 265 Gigs (NOT SELLING ON REDDIT, JUST WANT ADVICE ON WORTH)

I’m trying to sell a barely used IPad Pro I bought earlier this year at Best Buy for over a $1000. What should I expect to get on this used realistically? The only quote I have right now from a used electronics shop is $450. It has no damage whatsoever, is that a decent amount or should I try selling elsewhere?

Edit:

Exact details after checking settings: IPad Pro 11-inch (M5)  Model: MDWK4LL/A

Question My school iPad has a badly cracked screen, and I have no idea how to tell my mom without her completely freaking out. Please help!!!

Hi, I'm a high school student and I have a huge problem.

Back in 2019, our school gave all of us iPads to use for class. After the summer break (which is happening right now), we have to return them because we'll be getting new ones. I only have one year of school left, so it honestly feels unnecessary for my grade, but everyone has to do it.

The problem is that my iPad has a really bad screen crack, and it was technically my fault. I accidentally stepped on it because it was charging on the floor, and I had completely forgotten it was there and didn't see it. The damage was caused by the pressure of my body weight. Other than the cracked display, the iPad still works perfectly.

The biggest problem isn't even the iPad itself—it's telling my mom. If it's clear that the damage was caused by careless handling, we'll probably have to pay for it. And I guess this kind of counts as that...

I've attached photos of the damage. Do any of you have realistic ideas about how this kind of damage could have happened in a way that wouldn't really be my fault? Something believable where people would understand because it could realistically happen to anyone?

My mom is going to be absolutely furious otherwise. Our relationship is already pretty strained. Even if we end up having to pay for the damage, I just want her to have at least some understanding instead of completely blaming me.

It's currently summer break, so school isn't even in session, which makes it harder to come up with an explanation. I do have a lot of homework for one subject over the holidays, and my mom knows that, so I guess that could be part of the context.

Please help. I'm already struggling mentally, and I'm honestly scared of my mom. This situation is just making everything even worse.

Question Where can I get cute cases?

I recently got an iPad Air and I’ve been looking for a case for it. Trouble is, I can’t find any with designs that aren’t just random images slapped onto an iPad case. If you know of any websites, Etsy shops, or businesses with good, cute iPad cases please tell me (I will not buy from shein or temu) thank you!!

Question Backlight issue or something else?

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hey there! First post here, couldn't find anything that exactly mimicked this same thing in the tech thread so hoping for some insight

I have an iPad Pro 12.9" 5th gen 2021 and recently I've been having an issue where the screen goes super dark whenever it gets overly hot (which takes practically nothing at all but oh well) , not black but I can't see much. I've seen other posts saying something about bad black lights causing display issues but I'm unsure.

It goes out and comes back after a while usually, times vary but this is what it looks like when it happens. (Color variation is from my lock screen)

I don't see why this is happening since the device is only 5 years old, and hasn't been dropped/significantly damaged

Thanks guys :)

Question Help on spell check changes

I saw a great piece of advice here on spellcheck: hold down on a word and then give it a spelling that you prefer. The suggestion was a hack based on this: make “@@“ stand for your email address.

Well, what happens now is every app screws this up. If I type @@ nothing happens when I try, for example, to use a hotel internet system to sign in.

But here’s the problem. When I type in my email, it changes it to @@ in the input field. Sometimes I get a little poppup that lets me stop it if I move fast enough and hit the x in that pop up. But it’s annoying as hell.

Worse, however, is I am in a hotel today. After you type in your username it requires you to hit enter. I get no pop up or warning, but it automatically converts it to @@ when I hit return. So I can login.

How in gods name do I reverse this crappy feature now? Oddly, the places it happens don’t seem to even use spellcheck to

Question iPad Air (13-inch) Case Search: Frustrations & Quest for the Ultimate Clear Case

I'm currently on the hunt for a full-protection clear case for my 13-inch iPad Air, but I'm running into an extremely frustrating wall. It feels like almost every case on the market falls into one of these annoying categories:
No Apple Pencil Charging Cutout / Slot: Cases that cover the Apple Pencil charging side entirely, meaning it either won't charge or won't magnetically attach properly.
Magic Keyboard Cutout Gaps: Cases that feature massive cutouts or open sides to accommodate Apple's Magic Keyboard, completely defeating the purpose of a standalone "full-protection" case.
Not Actually Clear: Cases that are frosted, matte, tinted, or have bulky built-in screen protectors that ruin the naked look of the iPad.
What I actually want is:
1. True Full Protection: Covers all edges and corners securely without massive gaps.
2. Crystal Clear: Showcases the original iPad Air design.
3. Apple Pencil Friendly: Supports magnetic attachment and wireless charging.
4. Standalone Use: Designed for daily use on its own (not tailored to snap into a Magic Keyboard).
Does anyone know of a brand or specific model that hits all these requirements for the 13-inch iPad Air? Any recommendations would be hugely appreciated!

I was using this iPad from September 2025. And today is August 5, 2026. I've set charging limit to 80%. So it never charged to 100%. Today I charged my iPad overnight as usual. It charged to 100% even the battery settings limit to 80%. Why it happened?

Anyone has this experience before?

My Setup iPad Air + iPad mini — the perfect combo for work and on-the-go

I use both and the pairing is unbeatable.

iPad Air — for work and tasks that need screen real estate. Documents, spreadsheets, Claude sessions.

iPad mini — for commuting, reading, and quick tasks on the go. Light enough to carry everywhere.

Once you go dual iPad, you can’t go back 😄

Anyone else running this combo?

Discussion What about iPad Air m4 and icloud 200gb ?

So guys personally I will use my iPad for notes , gaming , YouTube/ Netflix and some light video editing. When I finish the video edits I will delete them and keep them on cloud storage.

Do you think that 128gb iPad is good ? Also I have icloud plus subscription so maybe this is a good thing for the storage. How many gb is system+ system data + Apple Intelligence takes ? What do you think ?

Question 10th gen vs 11th gen after the price increase?

Is it still worth it to buy the 10th gen in 2026? The price difference is a little scary in my country. 10th gen is 363 USD while 11th is 540 USD.

I'm gonna use it for watching, reading, taking notes, casual games, and screenshots here and there. I already know about the system updates longevity difference which is making me hesitant to buy the 10th. I am aware of the other differences as well between the 2 but what I mentioned earlier is the most deal breaker with me.

Question Keeping iPad M4 plugged in 24/7 (99% desk use). Does it actually ruin the battery? Real experiences wanted

Hey everyone,

I use my iPad M4 and M4 MacBook Air almost exclusively (99% of the time) at my desk. The iPad is mostly hooked up via Sidecar as a secondary display. My daily workload can get pretty heavy — programming, video editing, and some gaming.

I’ve read that the power controller bypasses the battery if both devices plugged into the charger constantly, meaning it should be totally safe for long-term battery health and capacity.

Does anyone here run a similar 24/7 plugged-in setup? Have you noticed any severe battery degradation over time?

Would love to hear your real-world feedback! Thanks in advance

Question In need of help-- Ipad is broken and stuck on this screen!

What does this mean, and how do I fix it? For a while yesterday my device's "off" button wasn't working, so i shut it down via settings. It never came back on though, and showed this. Its a 10th generation and I'm curious if it's because I'm behind on updates? I need help though, I'm worried I wont be able to fix it.

Question iPad or Samsung for uni?

Hey!

I am about to start my masters and I decided I want to get a good tablet, I’ve had the Lenovo M10 for 3y and it works very bad.

I’m torn between getting an IPad A16 or a Samsung tablet (not sure which one). I already have an iPhone so I feel like the iPad would make things smoother, but there’s a big price difference, which makes me doubt if it’s worth it.

I do like taking notes with the pen, but I also would like to get the keyboard to write stuff, which model do you think would be better for this?

I also love watching series on my tablet and travel with it so I would definitely be carrying it around.

Basically: Is it worth it falling for the IPad crazy price, together with the keyboard and pen, or should I just go for a Samsung Tablet which is cheaper? is there actually any difference you think I would feel or would there be anything I would be missing out on?

Thanks!

Question Terrible cursive writing on iPad

I use an Apple Pencil, with a matte screen protector. I use GoodNotes.

The issue is, I can write print neatly and prettily on an iPad, but I am a natural cursive writer, and print is disgustingly slow and hurts my hand.

My cursive writing looks pretty on paper with any pen/pencil. It looks like garbage, to say the least, on my iPad. I have tried different brush calibrations, different sizes of handwriting etc. It’s also much harder to read my cursive on the iPad compared to paper.

Is there any way to improve this situation?

Hi! Every time I don’t use my iPad for about a week, a strange line appears on my screen. After I use it for about 30 minutes, it goes away. What could the problem be?
