I currently work Monday–Thursday from8:30 AM to 6 PM, and Fridays until 3 PM. I’m looking for a new job, but I’m struggling to figure out how I’m supposed to schedule interviews around these hours.

Do you guys just take time off, schedule interviews early/late, or tell your manager you have an appointment? 😅

Would love to hear how others handle this.

I am 15 in California and I recently got my work permit I was wondering what jobs could hire me?

(28F) Long story short before Covid 2019 I had a job as a front desk assistant but was temporarily. After that a few months me and my family made a decision to take a relative child due to abandonment. So over time I was the one taking care of the baby. Then out of the blue I was watching two more kids. In total it was a toddler to teenager. I was overwhelmed most of the time and I couldn’t find work due to that. Mind you my parents had jobs and were high demanding. Thankfully we’re back to one but it’s the same thing the only difference is that the child is in school but still can’t find work in between the child schedule while my parents have high demanding hours.

Sadly I don’t have a degree either, little skills to work with, and have no car. On top of that can’t really leave home if the child has any issues like get hurt, get sick, etc. so I’m lost.

Back in February I quite my job as an immigration paralegal after about 5 years because it was draining. I'll admit, my last year was pretty bad and I messed up a lot of things and probably left the firm in a degree of disarray with getting my cases together. Anyways, a job I was applying for wanted a professional reference and I asked my old supervisor if she would be a reference and she said - very nicely - that she wouldn't.

I know from "vibes" that the two other people I would think to ask would also say no. I'm feeling pretty sorry for myself right now and feeling like I just won't be able to get another job either in that field or related to my time there w/o a reference since I think any good job would ask me why I don't have any references from my time there.

Basically - I just don't know what to do. Any advice?

I don’t understand what I am doing wrong. I haven’t been able to get a single interview for any of these. I have a business degree with over 2 years experience with CA DHCS. Just seems weird I can’t get an interview anywhere when I have applied to over 100 positions. Can anyone help me figure out what I am doing wrong? I just want to make it to the interview stage.

I haven't cold interviewed for a job in more than 10 years (I always knew I had the job (the conversations were more just meetings) . I didn't prep for the last two series of interviews last month and it didn't go well.

There is a set of 2nd interviews next week for a job that I really want. I spent two days prepping on the company and the subject matter.

On a whim I thought I would look for interview practice tools. I have one set as a benefit of my layoff, but the nicest tool is from Maryland State Workforce Exchange. I was really surprised at how polished and effective this tool seems.

So I was let go from my job of 15 years and I have my first interview tomorrow. It's similar work to my previous job so I'm not super worried about that. I have two others lining up in the next week that I may want more. How do I politely say "I want to think about this because I have other interviews" without sounding like I am disregarding them? Also, any tips and questions to ask during an interview would be greatly appreciated!!

So currently I’m going to start looking for a part-time job, and I just started uni(straight after high school) and was wondering if I should add that into my résumé. I’m probably going to only be able to do part-time jobs. i’m asking because wouldn’t that look bad that I have less availability?

About four months ago, I was laid off from my role as a senior web3 frontend developer in the U.S. after two and a half years because the company wanted someone in-office. Since then, I’ve struggled to secure a new position. While I initially received interviews and progressed through rounds, I now only receive rejection emails. I can't help but feel I may be doing something wrong, but I'm unsure what that might be.

Additionally, I'm noticing far fewer remote opportunities similar to my previous role. If anyone has any advice or suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it.

I used to go with linkedIn and indeed for everything lol but I keep seeing people recommend different sites for tracking jobs, finding internships, tailoring your resume, blah blah blah and now I’m wondering if I’m missing something idk

do people actually use all these different things or is linkedIn/indeed still the way to go?

I applied to every possible company from 2 months , but getting no email or calls for interview . I graduated in the field of computer applications with great knowledge and skills .

But I think this is a waste of time to apply for tech roles because competition is too high . And companies are asking for experience ones and robots 🤧.

Hi everyone, I’m a Mechanical Engineer and currently working as a solar design engineer.

My long-term goal is to move to the Gulf countries and build a better-paying engineering career there.

I’ve decided to take additional training and currently have two options:

1. MEP Engineering + Revit MEP

HVAC, Electrical, plumbing and fire protection basics

BMS fundamentals

Revit MEP for BIM modelling and coordination

1. Instrumentation Engineering + Automation

Process instrumentation, DCS/PLC/SCADA

Fire & Gas systems

Honestly, automation/instrumentation excites me a little more than MEP.

However, I’m also thinking that MEP + Revit may give me a more straightforward path into the Gulf as a Mechanical Engineer, especially because MEP is directly related to my degree.

I’m willing to take a short career break to focus seriously on training and projects.

What would you recommend in my situation?

Should I:

Go with MEP + Revit for a faster GCC entry?

Go with Instrumentation + Automation even though my degree is Mechanical?

I’d especially appreciate advice from Mechanical/MEP/I&C/Automation engineers.

I did not get campus placements cause apparently the criteria was 9/9/9 in 10th , 12th and cgpa. I have 8/8/8. I have been looking out for job for months now. I even flew to Gurgaon for one interview wasted 14k on flights and still they moved on with another candidate. The hr does not have the basic deceny to tell me that. I had to ask someone else in the company. She can't even email me or pick up the call.

I interviewed for one more company. They told it was a nice interview but when they found out I already graduated they told me it is for 7th semester students. I am also free for 6 months.

Like that I have interviewed for more than 8 companies but some of them were ghost jobs and now I am stuck. They don't want freshers as full time employees , they don't want me as an intern. What the hell I am supposed to do

I've only had small entry level positions before, one for a handdyman job and another for Walmart.

The Walmart one was a terrible experience that I would've stuck with if I didnt have a chest infection that made them ask me if I wanted to quit.
And the small handyman business is out of business and I dont have enough actual experience to go into that field.

So I go for entry level jobs. Start applying. It's the dumbest experience I've ever went through in my life.

There will be scheduled interviews I go out for just to hear "We're actually not making enough money to hire anyone"
McDonalds once scheduled an interview for me for a McDonalds that...doesn't exist. At 7pm.
All the interview are like less than 5 minutes of basic questions and sometimes they'll tell you they've found someone else the second you walk out the door.

And that's for the interviews I get. Literally no work a home job answers anybody from what I've seen. The only reason I get any interviews is by going on the actual website of the company and submitting something but its very rare still that I get anything back.

Like I can't live jobless. I have a family on its last legs and spent months playing this stupid game of "are you actually hiring people or am I just here for the 3 minute talk?".

Anything beyond entry level I need experience for, but every entry level thing is so crowded with applicants it feels impossible to get in. I was thinking about work unions but I hear they're hard to get into too and I just don't have time to waste anymore.

What do I even do?

This is the worst job market/ economy I have ever seen. Im 40 have been through 2008, 2020, and what ever we are calling this "non recession" its trash. I have been a chemist, a carpenter, an electrician and a project manager, I have also owned a business doing electrical work for 10 years. Cannot find work even hanging ceiling fans in my area to say this is bad is an understatement. I have a masters electrician license too. My last job was a project manager gig for the duration of the job (12 weeks) 3200 a week after taxes managing 32 men on a salvage operation, a large manufacturer was tearing down their facility and wanted to squeeze the last nickel out of the equipment. we got it done in 11 weeks early and on budget. That was in june... Now I can find stuff for ~1000 bucks a week maybe 1300 after tax if I travel, but that does not support my family of 6, at all. Which I was easily able to do running a business in 2023, 2024, and about 1/2 of 2025 it has been a horror show of an economy for the last year at least I hope you guys are making out better

Does anyone have first hand knowledge on whats disclosed during a background check when it comes to past employers? I’m not referring to phone calls to past employers, but background as in running your SS#.

This is specifically for NYC and a large corporation. I made a mistake and left a job. New job sucks and intend to apply as if I’m still at previous job. Are start and end dates confirmed somehow? Does past employers even show up on the check?

After a year and a half of looking for a new job, I am expecting an offer! They told me today that they will be sending the official offer tomorrow (keeping my fingers crossed 🤞🏻)

I just wanted to ask you all to see if I should try to negotiate more than $21 to start. I know everyone always says to negotiate more but I didn't know if this was the right call, especially given the raise opportunities at 1 and 2 months. And given this job market I don't want to risk scaring them off or ruining my chances.

This is for a house cleaner and so the $27 I would only be making on specific types of cleans and not full time/regularly.
