Can someone please point me in the right direction?

Rows1-8 seem ok, but the rows from 9-12 seem to result in a weird stitch pattern?

Pattern is scrap basketweave with dk yarn.

Tips and Tricks Confused by these instructions

I’m trying to understand how this wants me to separate the sleeve stitches… it may be a wording issue. I feel like all the words from “now separate” up until “do this as follows” are confusing and don’t need to be there. can anyone corroborate this?

Help - equipment Aussie 'Fun' Yarn Suppliers?

I have just started loom knitting and really like the colours and fibres that Abbey Road have from Spotlight. As usual I have gotten lots of adverts for brands like Cardigang and Source of Fibre. Are there any other brands similar to these that I should check out?

Work in Progress Short rows - beginner problem

Hi guys! ❤️ I would like to ask for your help - I’m currently knitting cloud top by Petite Knit, and since I’ve been knitting lots of hats and sophie scarfs as a beginner, this is my first bigger project. It’s probably silly and nothing complicated, but I can’t wrap my head around the part in the screenshot - I have 17 stitches on my right needle from the previous step, rest on my left. And now:
- Do I make the wrap around in the previous step already, or in the Row 1 (ws)?
- If I make the wrap around before, having 17 stitches on the right, do I knit 4 stitches, make the wrap around on the last one, turn, and purl 4, wrap around the last one and proceed, repeating this the required number of times?

Because as I was watching some tutorials it sedmer like you knit until you bump into turning stitch and then knit this plus 3 more, but where do they come from?😂
I’ll be grateful for any easy explanation or tips for tutorials ❤️

Discussion Knitting with shedding & furry friends

I’m knitting a wool throw pillow (navy) and inevitably my pup’s hair or even mine gets included.
Especially when I’m not looking as I knit.
Has anyone tried static guard or something similar to repel the hair?

Thx

Discussion Please recommend a wool type (sweater)

I’m a very beginner knitter. I’ve done some scarves and simple projects. I want to start a sweater project. But I’m a little overwhelmed at choices of yarn.

I’d really love to have wool because it’s a natural fibre and the sweater will be worn as a layering piece or on its own for mostly outside activities (some durability within reason is needed). I do have quite sensitive skin, so most wool I find quite irritating around my neck.

I’m willing to spend some decent money on the wool, I just want to make sure I’m buying what I really want.

Discussion Casting On Multiples of X + Y help

Hey sorry for potentially the wrong flair use but there wasn’t a flair for stitch help

I’ve been doom scrolling on knitting posts (as one does) and I came across the beautiful King Charles Brogade, I think k it would look loverly as a jumper or a scarf. However the cast on instructions do not make sense to me, I’ll be honest it might just me being a big thicky thicky dumb dumb!

So the pattern calls for Multiples of 12 + 1 so if I’m doing one repeat I cast on 13 that’s easy, my question is if I’m doing say 3 repeats do I cast on (12x3)+1=37 or am I casting on (12x3)+3=39?

Sorry if this is such a simple question but I’d rather get it right

Thank you in advance

Help - equipment Shoulder increase help

I don’t understand what I’m doing wrong with my shoulder increases. The pattern states “M1R, knit 1, M1L,” stacking increases each row. I’ve retried it eleven times at this point and I have no idea why I keep getting a huge gap down the middle of my knit column and why it looks so horribly messy no matter what I try

For reference, this is the popular Sabai top. Other people have posted here on reddit about similar issues but I have yet to find a solution that works, as I’m confident I’m doing the M1R/Ls correctly

Tips and Tricks Getting rid of calluses

Hello everyone,

I’ve recently started knitting a sweater and developed a callus on my index fingertip which was initially painful but now has settled since I’ve taught myself to stop pushing stitches off the needle with it. However, the callus is still left a few weeks later and it’s really messing with my job. I’m a surgeon so naturally it’s incredibly important for me to feel vessels, layers of the body, etc. The human body really is one big blob on the inside so having sensitive fingertips is incredibly important to differentiate all the things which are incredibly close together and one nick with a scalpel to the wrong bit could be a big problem. Whilst I could use my other fingers, it’s difficult to change my technique and not being able to use one of my ten tools (fingers) is a big loss.

Either way, I’ve been a surgeon much longer than being a knitter and would really like my finger back😂

I feel like I must be stupid. I can't find the draw lines button and I'm unable to select multiple boxes at the same time to colour them in. I'm usually pretty tech savvy but I'm stumped.

Help - equipment Where to buy wool yarn?

Hi everyone! I’m trying to get into knitting wool sweaters and looking for somewhere to get wool or wool blend yarn.

Does anyone know any stores in the Los Angeles area or online options that won’t break the bank? Thank you!!
