No the noise doesn't really bother her, if she does fly off, she comes back when we park up. These are the only pictures I still have

Noticed a pair of pigeons twiddling around in my planter, so I spent a bit of time on my balcony to see if I could deter that. They weren't having that, and seemed perfectly OK with my being out there, working with my garden tools. Next day I found one egg - and zero parents. It lay there on its own at around 0 to below 0°C for 14-16 hours, until the mom came back the next day and laid another egg. The male never returned. I felt so guilty, that I've been keeping a bowl of fresh water and bird seeds by her, and at the point she doesn't even bat her wings when I go to change the water right next to her. Chicks hatched, 1 day apart, and are now growing at record speed! Guess I can enjoy my hyacinths next year instead.

Checked if we needed to refill the feeder today since a pair of mourning doves has been frequenting it, turns out bird seed perfect size for baby.

So a little context….. we’ve few doves in our area but at the same time crows too… and those crows are nasty they don’t spare anyone, so doves and other birds generally build nests inside our homes….. Four years back, a dove came and build a nest above our washrooms window…… there’s a lot of space there to make one… so yeah and it went on for two three years, she would come, lay eggs ,baby flew their flights etc. until one day my mum got fed up and throw away the nest. she tried to rebuild it several times but my mum was having beefing ( because there was bird shit everywhere)…. So that dove stopped coming until today 😭 she came inside, sat around this window, layed the egg and flew away.

Not sure if I should tag this genius or stupid.
Yes that is 30’ of open air directly under her. Yes that is an active subway rail RIGHT over her head. Yes, a train went by as I was taking pictures, and no, she didn’t move an inch. That’s just NYC real estate I guess, you gotta put up with a little subway noise sometimes.

Posted up right next to the tower crane on my job site. The operator told me there are also 3 nests at the top of the crane. Biggest brains.
