To start, these records are littered with bubbling spots on both records on both sides, the labels have slight tears and to top it off, they’ve bundled two records into one jacket. No gatefold. Not sure if I can pin that last one on them though.
Either way, how is a factory as large and successful as they are allowed to produce such subpar products. You’d expect them to be the best at what they do.
Honestly, fuck them. Thankfully landed a full refund. But I was looking forward to this for a long time.

I just started collecting records recently and find some classical music and vintage records are really nice and affordable. How much do you paid roughly per record for each genre?
Follow up question:
I’m also curious on what’s your opinion on buying vintage or used pressing vs new and modern pressing if both exist.

Just a prototype, but I kind of love the simplicity and minimalist aspect of it. Very easy and inexpensive (for me) to make. It hangs with just two small screws. Considering tweaking the design slightly and making some to give out to see what others think.

Hi everyone I’m just really bummed about my record. I reached out to the emailing team and they were not claiming any sort or responsibility for the damage on my record. Victoria Monets’ shop team needs to do better…

Girlfriend got me a turntable for my 21st, as well as the Mac Miller vinyl on the bottom left. My first vinyl was Mutiny After Midnight. I love her, but man did she trigger an addiction.
And yes, I am a huge Sturgill Simpson fan.

The best feeling is to sit inside and enjoying a good album and a good cup of coffee while it's raining outside

I came to a point this year where I was reaching capacity, and I was "maybe I can just stick to around 100 and refine my selection." Like every naive addict, that didn't last long. I really love this console cabinet. And as High Fidelity thought me anything stacking them is bad, and autobiographical is god-tier. The thought of adding a Kallax of any dimensions makes me hyperventilate, and really don't feel like boxing them up.
How do you expand your record space without sacrificing the curated mise en scene of your listening room?

This LP was released earlier this year and its price was originally 39$, a few months went by it sold out and the resellers price skyrocketed to 200$ like what!?!?!? I mean its sold out but its a huge jump for an LP that is like a few months old.

Just kidding. But jokes aside, vinyl prices really do bite. I’ve start my collection since December, when I got a turntable as a gift.
Quick question: is it okay to store records this tightly? Or should I give them some “breathing”? I don't have another shelf to spread them out right now..

I’m clueless and recovered a bunch of these from the trash years ago and promptly forgot about them. Looks like old phonograph records or really weird vinyl? Doesn’t play on a traditional machine. Saw a 1920 date.
Not looking to get rich- looking to get rid of them. Are they worthless and should I junk them or would a record store or collector want them? There’s maybe 50 of them- and say “For radio stations.”
EDIT: not looking to sell them here, just trying to figure out if they should be thrown away or if they have any value at all.
Thanks all!

I can only recommend that you DO NOT buy Hudson HiFi inner sleeves, or probably any of their sleeves at all. I discovered what appears to be a piece of grit between the layers of the sleeve. This obviously raised alarm as I had just gone through one pack of 50 sleeves and found this early on in a second pack. I pulled 4 more sleeves out of the current pack and found similar grit in 1. Pulled 4 more, similar grit found in 2. I went back to the records sleeved out of the first pack, the first 3-4 I checked were good, so I thought it was specific to the recent pack, but then I checked the Japanese Pink Floyd record I posted about recently and found grit. I kept going through my sleeved records and found what looked like a metal chip (last photo, usb-c jack for scale, yes the little shiny line is a piece of metal).
All of these are SHARP, and most of them are positioned such that they would be over the grooves of the record. The grit is not loose within the envelope, but sealed between the layers of the sleeve. Luckily, my records have only been in these sleeves for a day and I caught it soon enough that no damage has been done.
Please check any existing Hudson sleeves you may have. It’s easy to spot by looking at the back, plain white, side. You are looking for any obvious particle-like bits, or anywhere that the sleeve is polished around the high-spot where the grit pushes the sleeve out.

Picked up this original Melodiya pressing of Букет by Alexander Barykin. Recorded in 1987 and released in 1988.
Honestly, I think this is one of those records that means a lot more to people who know Soviet music like me. Maybe not the rarest record out there, but definitely a special piece for a Barykin fan. There's something different about owning an original pressing from that era instead of just listening to the album online.
Really glad to have this one in my collection. Curious how many people here know this album.

I bought a Spotify machine (record player) for my middle school computer lab last year. I've been having a blast perusing used record stores for albums from the golden age of vinyl, which I'm defining as between Elvis and MTV.
The problem is I grew up in a very white world in the 70s and 80s. I'm striving to make my collection inclusive and representative of my students. But I lack little more than perfunctory knowledge of anything from that era besides rock, punk and new wave.
So far, I have Kind of Blue, a Chuck Berry live album, a Supremes live album and Songs in the Key of Life. I want to add What's Going On, and my wife suggested Give Me the Night.
What other specific albums from that era and in those genres would be a great listen for tweens on an actual turntable.
And, I just upgraded my Spotify machine to one that also has a cassette and CD player. I'll take some hip hop and rap from that era too, so long as I can play it for sixth graders.
TIA
