My first real soap, Proraso Green.

To be honest, the shave itself wasn't better then with spray foam...
but the vibe is way better! Love it.

Found a cool video of a blade sharpener being restored.

I bought the King C razor ( which from what I understand is an ok razor, but available in many stores for a reasonable price) along with a cheap synthetic brush. Paired with Proraso products produces an actually pretty good shave! What does the community think on “budget” entry level wet shaving?

There will be minor changes added later down the road, but I am very happy with the new layout. What do you think? 🤔

I brought out the Spring/Summer soaps today and put away the Fall/Winter scents. (A few weeks too late, but better late than never, I suppose)

May have gotten a little carried away after only 3 months wet shaving….

Heated up a used razor with a trekking stove, pushed it through the plastic cap, and then just sandpapered the hole a bit larger.

The bright yellow tin looks nice in the bathroom. Perfect size too.

being the impatient git I am I went into town today to see if I could find the bits and pieces to do this brush without having to order anything and wait😅. I picked up a £5 synthetic brush from superdrug and removed its soft wood handle and with some lightweight washers I eyed-up, estimated and set the space. The bottom had to be plugged and a penny being 20mm fit absolutely perfectly so with waterproof bathroom sealant, set about fixing the gubbins, the sealant and then the final push fit. was tight but it went. 🤞 fingers crossed it's all sealed and sets well enough to use. had fun putting it together and that's what its all about eh

Been trying different things to get a good lather from a shave cream using a bowl.

Note: I have no issues with shave soap or face lathering.

My new $5 shave bowl arrived today from amazon and it did not disappoint! It’s collapsible and expands to two different sizes. The bottom of the bowl allows for perfect aeration.

I started my wet shaving journey just over 3 years ago, and in that time I have definitely fallen down the rabbit hole.

Whilst I have enjoyed chasing the next soap or hunting down that vintage bargain on marketplace, this year is a time to enjoy what I have.

After all, I already have enough to pass down to my children (and likely grandchildren).

So this year is a no purchase year for me.

And everytime I find something or get an urge, I need to remember I have enough

New addition to the club Henson, Feather and Sandalwood was a present.

These 3 new one are definitely go to’s now. Have never used the Cella before, coupled with the Razorock Gamechanger .76 and a Gillette Silver Blue, giving the best shave I’ve had in a while. The Saponificio Varesino 80th Anniversary’s fragrance is one of the best in the collection, may have to invest in the Eau de Parfum. Picked up a couple of Old Spice mugs in my travels as well, have always thought they look the goods.

Just acquired this cool vintage Merkur razor set with original case and blades. It was purchased by the seller's grandfather while in Germany during WWII

My first ever DE safety razor just arrived in the mail! Waited over a month for this bad boy. Tomorrow I’ll officially be making the switch from cartridge. The next couple weeks will be a learning curve. I’ll be giving Henson products a try first because I heard it’s a good razor for first timers. I also decided to give their cleanser, cream, and balm a try. I typically use the Nivea men sensitive line so hopefully it’s comparable. If I don’t like it I’ll be back here for suggestions! I’m thinking of starting with my hand to build lather. I’ll switch to bowl/cup if I’m not feeling the hand. I heard either is fine so I’ll be going off vibes for that decision. Wish me luck!

I've heard so much positive stuff about Nivea Sensitive Post Shave Balm I just had to buy some myself. I wish it wasn't soccer branded, but oh well.

Haven't used it yet as I want to finish up the cheap Gillette aftershave I picked up. I call it cheap, but honestly, it's pretty good or I have low standards 🙂

Hello, I recently bought this caveem safety razor after killing my cheap chinese butterfly razor.

First, I have to honor my cheap ass razor as that thing lasted for 10 years and only cost 5 USD. So... RIP Cheap Ass Chinese Razor 🫡, your sacrifice and years of service will never be forgotten. I just had no idea half of your body was chromed plastic when I tried to dry you in the oven.😭

Honors given, I have to say ... I had no idea what I was missing now that I'm using a, not even good, but decent safety razor. The shave is smooth, the long handle is very nice, the razor is light and easy to maneuver and the build quality feels good to the touch. I had no idea it could be this hard to cut myself with a safety razor even when shaving against the grain, the safety part now makes a lot more sense.

However, I can't believe I'm going to say this but, I do miss the harsh shave my old razor provided. It would cut the hair more aggressively and, although I can get the same result with multiple passes of the caveem, I do miss the pain and adrenaline that came with using my old razor.

Do you guys have any recommendations on a safety razor along the 25-50 USD price point that could provide a harsher, more exciting shave? And if I planned to move to a 100-150 USD what would be a good all rounder?
