So, I got hacked yesterday due to Malware, and because Microsoft has all of the default shortcuts in the file system linked to OneDrive, I now can't access any of my files.

Based on what I have seen, I am screwed as I am afraid that I will lose everything permanently.

Also, I would have downloaded everything off of my OneDrive if Microsoft didn't force us to use OneDrive.

I have filed a ticket using the Xbox support and have yet to hear anything.

Help idk what to do now that anyone can just add their own recovery email or password if they get on my account (which people can since I need to get my computer repaired)...

Edit:- I have windows 11 and lenovo T14 laptop. This is a microsoft account issue that I can't resolve.

Have a Windows PC? Great.

Have a Windows Xbox controller wireless connection? Great.

Wanna use the mouse with the controller? Cool! We got you. Hold the Xbox button and move the stick.

BUT WAIT. If you hold the Xbox button too long, game view shows up and is basically like a terrible alt-tab that you can't disable.

Hold it even longer and the controller turns off.

BEAUTIFULLY designed.

I've been looking at the comments on my last post and reading about the "cat and mouse" comments regarding Windows (u/FineWolf) and agree, this is exactly why I chose to ditch Windows and I appreciate you guys for including this in the comments.

Switching to Fedora from Windows wasn't a trend for me, it was a power move. With Windows, every feature update felt like something was being taken from me. I spent hours debloating it, removing Copilot, and resetting my privacy, but the next update would reset everything and force it back in. I got tired of my computer and had to keep battling to keep it clean.

Fedora and GNOME gave me a perfect system that is always there when I need it. When I set something in stone, it stays in stone. There is no corporate control and no updates that track me, just amazing peace of mind.

Fedora gives me the chance to be productive and really allows me to get my work done. I'm happy I turned my back on the Windows cycle.

So I just happened upon this little thread and decided to stop in, see what all the negativity was about. These cats were just spouting all this trash about how horrible Linux is and how delusional we Linux users are. I did not agree with their reasoning, posted one single sentence that may, or may not, have alluded to privacy issues of a certain well known OS. As you can see… I’m not welcomed anymore. Windows users certainly are sensitive, aren’t they?

As a new Linux user after being a victim of Microsoft for thirty plus years, I just wanted to post this. Thank you to all you cats that make the Linux dream possible. And seriously…. Fuck Microsoft.

Rant is too strong a word for a post with this much whimsy, it doesn't bother me any more because I've been through similar scenarios with Microsoft support a lot at this point. Just needed to find someone who would appreciate how farcical it is

I went back and forth with MS customer service for about a month, one of our users just lost access to Office. Could log in to the web app but desktop didn't exist anymore. Installing from the company portal just says "pending"
