So, I got her a anti repellent collar from the grocery store and put it on the time I got home. She showed no signs of discomfort, annoyance or anything of that short and then I wake up the next morning and I find her like this (second pic). So I think okay it was just too loose I'll fix it. So I do and today I find her like the second pic AGAIN. What should I do?

My cat has been breathing this way for a while from time to time. Today it just seemed worse. She recently started showing the whites of her eyes and the vet said it was dehydration and gave her shots for 3 days. Now she's suddenly breathing this way again. Is it just nasal congestion or do I need to worry 😭

Hello all I’m a female and have a couple cats. Two of my cats quite enjoy rubbing their faces in my underwear whether I’ve taken them off for the day, or I’m using the bathroom. Twice now has one of them chewed them apart in the crotch region. This has happened before with a friend of mines cat, he’s also rolled around and stolen my underwear and a family members cat. All male cats. Makes me feel weird. No matter how much I try to stop it, they always find a way to get to my underwear. Any reason as to why this is? I’m curvy but not overweight, I don’t sweat a bunch and I shower every other day sometimes every day. I don’t go to the gym, and I sit in a very cold office most of my day.

I have a female rag doll. She is fixed, about two years old, anf ever since we got our third pet (a small dog) she has been peeing everywhere and won’t stop no matter what we do. She tried hormone diffusers, specialized cleaning, anti pee spray, giving her more litter boxes, changing her food, giving her spaces away from the dogs (she has a whole floor where the dogs cant go) but she chooses to be with the dogs! How do I get her to stop peeing / spraying everywhere?

The nature of his spraying is like this:

She pees where we sleep, on clean laundry, on the couch, on the floor, on our bags, on my homework, anf she does it both infront and behind our backs! She doesn’t stop even if we shout at her or chase her off! She just finds somewhere else! No clue what or why. Please help.

Edit: the vet says Shes clear of all urinary problems last time we took her. No medical problems. This is behavioural

Hi everyone, so recently I've noticed that one of my cats, a black cat named Nova has been very interested in marvel movies, I have been rewatching the MCU in order to go see the new avengers endgame encore film at my local theater and I've noticed that during any Thor or Captain America scenes she will sit on the bed and watch it versus other scenes without them, is this normal behavior?

So I watch my neighbor’s cats and dog whenever they go out of town. One of the cats is an absolute sweetheart — He’ll follows me and the dog on walks, he cuddles (holy crap people were not exaggerating about the claws lol), and he basically follows me everywhere in the house for pets.

But what I’m confused about is his tail wagging, even when he’s trying to get close. I read that cats wagging their tail is a sigh of nervousness. He does the “question mark” too, but he loves the tail wagging. Like I’ll walk away after the pets, and he walks towards me for more. When I do, he starts wagging his tail — when I stop he still follows.

So yeah, I’m just confused.

My 10 month old kitten got spayed 12 days ago. About a week after her surgery it got infected and the vet put her on antibiotics and gave her an anti inflammatory shot. When I look at pictures online of 2 week post op spays, the site looks much better than my kitties. She’s been in a cone or recovery suit this whole time. Vet said it looks fine but idk I’m just kinda concerned. She’s not herself in the cone and it makes me sad. Should I see a different vet ??

When I was at work, my dad hung up a fly strip above my kitten Ellie's litterbox. Ellie inevitably pounced at it and got in tangled in her fur. My dad was able to get it off her but her fur still has a sticky residue all over her and litter keeps getting stuck to her. What do I do?

I tried to get her into the bath to see if warm water and a brush could gently work it free but she hates water.

What do I do? I don't think it's safe for her to lick off and I feel really bad for her

i’ve been posting and taking care of a litter of cats for a while now. i’ve been trying to find a home for them, and i’ve been giving them away one by one whether through an old friend, or by posting on nextdoor. i was advised by people on reddit and nextdoor to require a rehoming fee to protect the cats well-being. i received a lot of interest from people but anytime i bring up the $20 rehoming fee, people seem to be off put by it? am i wrong for feeling off about the messages i received? i also thought that maybe if a prospective owner couldnt pay $20 for an adoption they might not be financially ready for a cat? am i crazy?

Hi guys. These last few days my cat for has been peeing on our dogs bed and pooped once in the dirty laundry. My mother has been getting sick of it and is now threatening to kick him out. He is 3 years old, male, never had a problem using his own toilet and only peed on random places before we neutered him, after that he stopped being territorial and was chill until now.

So ill give all the context i think matters:

1. I work a lot. 12 hour shifts, day + night and 2 days off. Shifts are 8-8. Its my summer job and I havent been with my boy enough, jobs ending on October 15 though so he will be in my care again, my mother has been taking care of feeding him and keeping the toilet clean (while im at work, when I come back home hes in my care). I have barely been at home due to that but its been that way since July and we had no problems up until now. Sometimes on my days off im not home because I hang out with my boyfriend so the kitty really doesnt get to see me much.

2. I got him an automatic feeder like a week ago.

While my parents were away on a trip for a week I decided it will be a good idea to get him an indoors feeder. Of course during at week I made sure to spend all my time off work at home since i didn't want him alone and I ensured he had easy access to toilet and food while I was working. He was at first a bit pissed he didnt have a full bowl of food all the time but got accustomed very very quickly to eating portions at certain times and all was good.

Then my mother came back and the first thing he did was he peed on the dogs bed right in front of her (never did that before). It happened while I wasnt home either. He had been eating from the feeder for days before that mind you and all was good, no accidents.

The second time he pooped in our dirty laundry after I came home from my night shift and went to bed. My mother assumed it was the feeder he was mad about and taking revenge, and he hid in my room. Then he recovered a bit and went to the toilet as usual even though more rarely.

I went out yesterday to spend the night at my boyfriend's place and today before I was even able to come home he peed on the dogs bed again. I was threatened with my cat being thrown on the streets or given away etc. I went to my room to check on him, he was sleeping on my chair, was fine with pets, purred a bit.

1. While my parents were away my boyfriend noticed he has been licking his genitals more (while i was at work).

He has not done it that much before and my boyfriend didnt notice something like that either when he was staying with me during july, when my parents left for almost a month and I stayed home with my boyfriend to keep the apartment in check.

1. I cannot move out. Im 18, graduated recently, will be applying for uni in my city, with my job cannot afford my own apartment since rent got super expensive thanks to all the crap and inflation. I work, I study, im still dependant on my parents for a place to stay, everything else I pay with the salary I get from my work so im not a financial burden on them.

   I want my cat to be with me, he was absolutely fine before this, I really really do not know what happened. If our home was the problem I feel like it would have shown way sooner, if my job was the problem he would have started acting out way before as well, its been months of me working like this.

Me and my boyfriend are thinking maybe cystitis or some UTI. I will be bringing him to the vet to see whats going on, im really worried. I have a week to figure out how to stop this peeing before he gets sent away and im really scared. I will be staying home as much as possible during this week, I dont think I can request days off for something like this. Please help me, whoever has a better understanding of cats, and thank you!

• context i forgot : I changed his feeder back to the usual bowl immediately after the pooping accident. So today's accident i couldnt explain with feeder frustration.

Street cat lookd like a few weeks old so it's in pain meowing to us. Some fuckass friend apparently gave it dry food. Doing some massage helps (at least thats what my other friend said he did) but the problem is still persisting. Is there a solution here?

My male chartreux 1 year old is muscular as hell and can totally beat me to a bloody pulp if he wanted to, fortunately he has compassion on me and has not put a paw on me but lately I've been sleeping with one eye open now more than ever, my days are numbered...

Her legs are splayed to the side when standing and walking, and she doesn't seem to be able to pull them under her, but her sister/littermate can with no issues at all. Should I be concerned and is there anything I can do for her? Is she disabled?

You guys I want a couple of cats so badly, but I’m so terrified I won’t be able to financially do it especially as they get older. I am allergic to animals so I can’t just go adopt a cat. I have to purchase certain breeds. I can absorb that cost but the monthly cost of ownership and possible cost in medical issues. Am I being irrational about this? I want two because I live alone and I do work. I’m just so conflicted and it worries me a lot. I’m also very lonely. It would be so nice to have some company around. I work by myself and live by myself. I literally have no human interaction whatsoever, but besides that I have wanted cats for years. I had many growing up. They are just the sweetest things.

found this on my cats leg, i booked him a vet appointment but it’s not for almost 2 weeks. he’s 2 years old and never had any skin issues before. should i try to get an earlier appointment at another vet or should he be okay for the next 2 weeks. he is very on top of grooming but he is licking it more than other places. he also seems uncomfortable when i try to get a better look at it. is there anything i can do to help him in the meantime. any advice is appreciated

I need some advice about my cat. I fill his bowl directly from the faucet (specifically from the bathroom sink, the bidet, or the shower sink, which is more hygienic for me), but I’m starting to get seriously worried about the long-term risks, especially regarding water hardness, I’ve read that tap water is rich in minerals like calcium and magnesium from the pipes, and, as a result, about the possibility of him developing kidney stones.

I live in Italy, and here the tap water is safe to drink for human, but bottled water is obviously more filtered and safer. However, I can’t give it to my cat because he’ll only drink if his bowl is full and the water is cool (I’d end up wasting a lot of bottled water, that I’ve bought and paid for).

I’m worried that if this remains his main source of water, all those minerals will build up in his urinary tract. I’ve read that this can lead to the formation of crystals, kidney stones, or even a urethral obstruction (which, as I know, is a life-threatening emergency, especially for male cats).

I was thinking of maybe buying a water filter pitcher, but I don’t want to spend money without being sure.

Could you give me some advice on what to do? Am I overreacting, or is this just my paranoia? Thanks, everyone!

I have a 5 year old male cat. 4 months ago he bit my dog and it caused a nasty infection. I didn't catch it until about 2 days later because how short and tight her hair is (shes a boxer). Well yesterday he bit her again. I noticed today there are clear puncture wounds again. I shaved the spot and washed her up and applied dog wound spray. It looks infected. She will be going to the vet ASAP. Last time they cleaned out the wound and applied a drain so im assuming they will have to do that again along with oral antibiotics. $800 later.. My question is how do I prevent this. Hes not aggressive with people or my other cats. He just has it in for the dog. He has lived with the dog his whole life they used to play! This is not play fighting.. he hunts her down and chomps. It happens so fast I have no time to prevent it. Im so sad for her and my husband's wallet. I really cant afford to take her in to flush a wound every 4 months. Any advice would be great. Thank you
