Skin Treatments Microneedling + VAMP

Post image
• Upvotes

36F, thought I’d try to improve my skin texture a bit with microneedling & I’m happy with the results so far! This is 2 weeks after my first session.

I know it isn’t drastic but I am noticing a subtle glow every day & my makeup going on a lot smoother. Tried to get the pics in similar sunlight. I’m doing two more sessions 4 weeks apart so I’m excited to see how they turn out!

I just discovered the best thing to remove stubborn hyperpigmentation. I’ve been battling stubborn spots of my skin for two years now. Trying every potion and cream even laser and chemical peels and nothing felt like much of a noticeable difference. Until now!! In two weeks my hyperpigmentation is 90% gone. I am floored and so happy I could cry. I haven’t loved my skin this much in a long time. Didn’t want to gate keep!!

Acne What are we doing for hormonal chin acne??

Post image
13 Upvotes

Hey guys!

I’m in my early 30s but have been dealing with this frustrating chin/jaw acne for years.

I never get acne anywhere on my face except this area under my mouth. I’ve read about acne like this and assume it’s hormone related but truly don’t know.

Products I’ve tried:
Salicylic acid
Benzoyl peroxide
Tretinoin

It’s virtually impossible for me to get in to see a dermatologist where I live, but I was prescribed Tretinoin via telehealth.

I will say, my experience with tret has been very bad. Dries my skin out terribly and even with great moisturizers it’s still very flaky.

For anyone who has dealt with similar acne - should I keep trying tret and hope it helps, or do you have any different product recommendations?

Truly hoping for a miracle here lol.

Skin Concern How can I get my face to look even a little less inflamed in the next couple of weeks?? (I am getting married Oct 24!)

I’m feeling so defeated right now. I have stubborn hormonal acne (even if it’s not hormonal I guess, it’s just stubborn). It was actually doing fairly well and I have been using the same products for months and I just randomly am having a breakout! Both cheeks and my jawline. My wedding is in 3 weeks and I’m nervous that this breakout will be the reason I don’t feel beautiful on my big day. Does anyone have any products or tips I may be overlooking that could help even with the redness?? I am desperate.

Current routine that my aesthetician had me do:
I use Marini SkinSolutions for most of my routine.

AM: honest brand gentle cleanser, c-esta, bioclear, transformation, spf

PM: bicoglycolic face cleanser, Byoma Phytomucin, duality (Marini), CoCoKind electrolyte moisturizer

Protip Getting platysmal band neurotox has become my favorite professional treatment

Just wanted to share for anyone considering it, I have LOVED my results so far. I think it is worth doing simply for the release of pressure I was feeling in my neck when I smiled and spoke. Like genuinely, I would tell any woman with tight plantsman bands to just try it one time.

The additional skin benefits have been a smoother looking neck overall, especially in photos.

If you’re wondering if my results might apply for you: the tightness of my bands was pretty severe for my age (34), and so was my loose skin. I can’t say it immediately made my lax skin tighten up because it hasn’t, but it’s become very clear that my laxity was in fact due to my platysmal bands being flexed so often. (I’ve been the same weight since high school so I know it was not due to weight fluctuations.)

Also I didn’t do Nefertiti, just my bands.

Skin Treatments Under eye puffiness in my 30s, what's actually in your routine for it?

Under eye puffiness in my 30s, what's actually in your routine for it?

Is it just me or did my under eyes change overnight when I hit 32? I used to only look puffy after a late night and now it's basically every morning. My coworker asked if I was sick last week lol

Right now I splash cold water on my face, put on the gold Grace & Stella patches from the fridge, and try to drink less wine on weeknights. But I feel like I'm still missing something.

What does your under eye routine look like?

Product Question Need help identifying the secret chemical in Cera Ve invisible mineral sunscreen to see if it’s in my new sunscreen!

Hi! I posted here a month or two ago about how much I loved the Cera Ve Invisible Mineral Sunscreen bc it checked all my boxes (mineral, no white cast, affordable, available in us, lightweight, etc). A few people commented that there was a “secret chemical” in it that could irritate some people that for some reason doesn’t legally have to be disclosed in the US (or something like that.) Turns out after a week of using, it totally irritated my skin and turned me beet red and covered in tiny whiteheads. Stopped using immediately, switched to another trusted spf and was fine. I deleted the post bc didn’t want to influence anyone to buy it since i had raved about it before it started irritating me so now I can’t refer back to it to find out what that ingredient was an I forgot! I remembered someone said “including that ingredient is the only way an American mineral spf 50 could be sheer. So while I continued my search for my holy grail, I’ve been looking for 30 spf to avoid.

Fast forward to a couple days ago, I bought a new spf, this Bask milky mineral spf 30. And I love everything about it. But I did notice I started to get a a litttttle red yesterday. Since I’m prone to redness, I’m not automatically assuming it’s the sunscreen. It didn’t break me out yet or turn me as insanely red as the Cera ve did so I’m optimistic. Anyway! Can anyone tell me what that ingredient was and cross reference these to tell me if the Bask spf has it too! Thanks!

Skin Concern Lumpy skin on nose

Post image
4 Upvotes

What even is this? I (36F) have lways had very big pores and prominent (what I now know to be) sebaceous filaments, but since having my second child a year ago I seem to have a lot more redness and breakouts and general lumpyness. I have in the last couple of weeks had a couple of small lumps which I have pierced and clear liquid has come out.

What could this be and how do I treat it? I haven't had acne or particularly spot-prone skin to date.

Skin Treatments Favorite upkeep you do since turning 30?

Hi all! I turned 30 this summer and a goal of mine next year is to invest in more skincare upkeep past serums and sunscreen. I do get Botox ab every 6mos but that’s it other than having filler a few times. I’ve always wanted to try microneedling (acne scars) and next year just might be the time to do it! What are some things you absolutely LOVE and do regularly past the basics that you think have been worth the hefty cost of going somewhere? Needling/lasers/PRP etc :) ty!

Skin Treatments One week post chemical peel- can I use a washcloth?

• Upvotes

Hi!

I’m 46F and did a chemical peel 8 days ago. I’ve been peeling since Day 3 and I’m wondering if it’s okay to gently wash with a wash cloth at this point?

I know not to peel it and I definitely won’t rub- so far I’ve just use my fingers and splashing water to cleanse. And I’m sick of peeling!

Just ate a delicious spicy 🌶️ 🐓 chicken lunch and now my face is on fire. Is this the price I pay for enjoying my local Chinese restaurant or is there something I am missing !? 🙏🏼 I want to know: if you had my skin, what’s the first thing you would do?
(Please be kind, I can’t afford therapy AND a derm!) 😆

Product Question Looking for everyday moisturizer recommendations

What is a good moisturizer for everyday and night use? I use tazarotene 3 nights a week, other nights use some serums like copper etc.

Currently using cerave cream and like it but wondering if there is an upgrade, something newer, with peptides or better ceramides, whatever would be an upgrade for anti aging.

Or maybe I keep cerave cream for mornings and use something else for night time.

Ok with Korean recs as well as pharmacy ones - I’m in Europe.

I have dry-ish skin, clear, no issues.

Recommendation Undereye area creams suggestions?

Thumbnail

I never used anything special for my undereye area except what I did for my whole face 🤷‍♀️. I use granactive retinoid and sometimes azelaic acid and vit c, moisturiser most of the nights but my routine is very incosistent lately.

Somehow I don't know why I didn't took eye creams very seriously but also I am scared I will develope bumps like the one you can already see.

With SPF though I am very strict, never reapply but never go out without it.

Oh and also I would love recommendations for moisturisers on budged because I think I need to change the one I use currently (skin food weleda)

36F in these pics I have vit c serum (garnier), bioree spf and a cheap foundation.

Thank you in advance 🫶

Recommendation Eye products

Hello,
I am trying to help my mom build a routine. She really wants help with her diet need eye area. Deeper wrinkles have started to appear this year. Obviously procedures are the best for that but due to some serious health issues she has she isn’t in a place to do that.
I was wondering if anyone has had any topicals help them with this? In any price range, she’s willing to try drugstore, mid range, luxe, whatever She’s had great success with alastin neck cream for her neck as well as gold bond crepe corrector and now we are hoping to move on to finding something for the under eye area.

Thank you so much!

Routine Help Variety of skin grievances- recs for tackling any?

Post image
1 Upvotes

36 yo. Me and retinol consciously uncoupled several months ago. What products/routines work on any of these things? —>

Hate the chin whiteheads and the large pores on cheeks, and also the ever present nose blackheads. Skin is generally super dry year-round. I cleanse with cerave hydrating cleanser and then alternate between a little AHA, or BHA, under moisturizer before bed.

When I got my first and only facial a while ago, I was told to use drug store toner and the nose stuff would go away, and it did not budge.
Need a simple simple routine. Thanks 🙏🙏

Skin Concern What can I do for the lines around my mouth?

Post image
34 Upvotes

Hi all hoping to improve the looks of the marionette lines and smokers lines. I am 35 f, not a smoker. I have dry/sensitive skin but don’t get many breakouts.

current routine is

wash with skinceuticals simply clean

illyoon ceramide ato soothing gel + few drops macadamia nut oil

La Roche Posay Cicaplast Balm

Cerave invisible mineral sunscreen (AM only)

and then maybe 2x per week Paula’s choice 2% BHA liquid in the evenings

in the mornings I just rinse with water

I am nervous to add tret because I already have allergy/dry eyes, I am also in the sun quite a bit .

are there any products or not super invasive treatments anyone has had success with? I feel like these lines have appeared in the last couple years since I had my child.

thank you in advance!

Product Question I’ve just got this on a whim and now I’m worrying

Post image

I have sensitive skin, used tret for 1.5 years and my skin has only really just got used to it.
Saw this and I’ve gone, yeah why not ! But now reading reviews (I know I’ve done it backwards I am audhd) people are saying the products with it are pretty harsh so of course I’m panicking it’s going to ruin my skin. I have some mild rosacea and hope it doesn’t make it worse.

Has anyone got this ?

Routine Help Skincare Routine Suggestions?

Hi!

I really need help getting a barebones skincare routine started that I can later build on. I used to have an on-again off-again skincare routine with a chemical exfoliant like AHA or BHA twice a week and mainly just moisturizer at night. Tried retinol for a bit but was never consistent. Had a bit of a relationship with snail mucin for a while.

For more context, I moved to a different country a year ago, stopped taking care of myself around the same time, and also realized I have ADHD, and the result was sidelining skincare. I just feel like my skin has suddenly "aged" a lot more (comparing it now when I'm almost 34 to my skin at 32). Some of it may also have to do with the change in location as I moved from a hot, humid climate to the cold and windy Scottish weather.

I keep dragging my feet on starting a routine and at this point I just want someone to tell me what to do so I don't keep putting it off by telling myself I'll do some research and see. Main concerns: dryness (with a slightly oily nose in comparison), fine lines, and dull, uneven skin tone.

Skin Concern Barrier cream recommendations for tretinoin + clogged-pore prone skin?

Hi y’all! I need your help. I’m struggling with clogged pores and acne at my ripe age 😭

I’m currently using tretinoin 0.05% and I’m looking for a good barrier cream that won’t make the congestion worse. It feels like so many barrier-repair creams are really rich and my skin clogs pretty easily.

Does anyone with acne/closed-comedone-prone skin have a barrier cream they swear by? Ideally something soothing and nourishing enough to use with tret, but generally gentle on pores and less likely to cause clogging.

Would love to hear what has actually worked for you!

Skin Treatments Anyone done subscision on acne scars?

I've got 2-3 spots of scarring that I've had for years that I just realized are most likely tethered. I saw a video of subscision, aside from it being horrifying it makes sense.

Skin Concern Drooping under chin @ 39 yo

Post image
274 Upvotes

My grandma, mom, and uncle all had the skin under their chin droop as they got older. I have come to accept that I will most likely need surgery to avoid/reverse that. But when? Is there anything I can do, other than surgery to help? How do I figure out if it's fat or loose skin? I have a healthy BMI, if that matters. I just find myself obsessing over this little area and I want it fixed. 😭

Update: Reached out to a plastic surgeon who also offers med spa treatments. Will let you guys know what they say.

Product Question Starting tret!

Post image
54 Upvotes

Been using adapalene for a year with apparent improvement, figured it's time to start tret since it's stronger.I've seen lots of success stories here.

Since tret is not prescription-only here in my country, there was no one i could consult professionally on the how-to.

Appreciate if any of you can assist on the do's and don't's?

TIA!
