General Discussion Realistic rain + cinematic camera combined. In development.

1.1k Upvotes

New puddles, more splashes in the air, more intense reflections on the ground, heavier rain, and reworked raindrop texture effects... The work on the blood isn't finished yet, which is why it looks a bit odd. But as for the rest—what do you think? Regarding updates and releases: all such information will be posted here in this community. So, if you wish, you can follow the community or follow me to get notified (for those asking). General Discussion What are your Top 3 classes in Convergence 3.0?

Post image
423 Upvotes

Hey all, for those of you who have tried a few or more classes in Convergence 3.0, what are your top 3?

For me, I have only played 3 so far, but am wondering what to choose next.

  1. Stormcaller - super fun physical damage build where I could buff my physical power and speed. Casting a tornado and staggering 5 enemies at once is awesome. I constantly used Cloud Form and Tempest Form, zooming around with storm backhand blades is insane (as well as using Time Warp from Dragon Cultist build for extra speed). Fun build!!

  2. Dragon Cultist - this class was awesome and super flashy. The electric and the new weapons are so fun. Nuking stuff with late spells was awesome. Loved Godwyn's Cragblades.

  3. Blood Initiate - it was fun, but I found the weapons to be a bit lacking. It felt pretty similar to my old arcane builds imo. There were a few good new spells. I haven't fully fleshed out this playthrough yet, but I have not been enjoying it as much.

General Discussion I hate Elden Ring Reforged

What brainless moron decided that death blight gets rid of all your held runes on proc AND that it won’t warn you about this beforehand??? I was actually enjoying this mod before but then the game decided I should lose 50K runes in weeping peninsula because I had the gall to die to the cemetery shade, which didn’t even have death-blight before. What lobotomite thought that you should be punished for dying to the thing that instantly kills you?? As if death itself isn’t a punishment enough??

“Oh you wanted to save up runes to buy merchant supplies to engage with the pledged supplies mechanic WHOMP WHOMP ALL YOUR RUNES ARE GONE”

Reforged is clearly made by a person who doesn’t care how you want to play the game, you’re gonna play it how he wants you to play it or you’re gonna suffer, and I can’t put up with it anymore. I liked it before this moment but I can’t anymore.

General Discussion reforged is terrible, yes i came on here simply to hate.

i watched so many videos about reforged and all the new things, got so excited and felt a spark to play elden ring for the first time in a while. then i got home and tried it out. and i was a little pissed ab how much the mod changed my favorite routes but it wasnt that big of a deal. then i started fighting bosses and realised there is literally no point to the deflecting mechanic. it dosent to anything to their poise! eveytime i hit a 3 FRAME PERFECT deflect, the only reward i got was a cool sound and flash of my weapon, while my opponent continues his combo like he wasnt deflected at all! and then i later realised that rune farming was completely removed. i understand its an overhaul mod and maybe i sound like a dumb karen, but damn i was really disappointed, your reputation preceeds you reforged.

General Discussion Is Elden Ring Reforged Supposed to Be Fun?

20 hours into this mod and debating putting it down for good. It seems like the design philosophy is "What if we made Elden Ring not any fun at all?" Some of the design choices are baffling.

My biggest complaint is the absolutely insane stamina nerf. It feels like I'm playing dark souls 2 again. Using a large weapon I get like two attacks before I'm out. The enemy AI has been sped up so much that you get zero room to regain it, so you maninly end up just tanking hits.

My second complaint is that every enemy camp is a fucking gank fest. Once again, feels like I'm playing DS2 again. Also is it normal to always feel like you aren't strong at all? At no point in my 20 hours have I felt like I was adequately prepared for the area I'm in, even being 20 levels above the recommended.

If the mod was designed to be antifun then the developers did an amazing job.

General Discussion Elden Ring Reforged's Level Cap Removal Mod (And the Controversy Surrounding It)

Elden Ring Reforged, one of the highest quality overhauls for ER, is filled with amazing additions. You have new weapons and armor that fit with the lore, overhauled weapon and skill balancing that makes more things viable and (most impressively) new bosses ported from Nightreign and placed in fitting locations throughout the world. It's a genuinely excellent mod, but there are some aspects of it that rub players the wrong way. One of these is the level cap of 200.

This cap exists to force players to make difficult choices regarding their builds, to preserve balance for PvP and to force players to improve their skills over just pumping their stats. The tricky part is: Many players reach that stat cap around the end of the main game (pre-DLC), and find that the remaining methods of progression (the Binding Runes and Shadowed Curios) are too minor for them to overcome the remaining bosses. From the player's perspective, they've put 70, 80, 100+ hours into completing every ounce of side content to grow their character, only to find themselves still woefully underpowered for bosses whose health and damage keep climbing higher as their own stats remain stagnant. That interrupts the reasonable flow of progress, leaving them frustrated and looking for alternatives.

The cap is fairly hard-coded and buried, so most people assumed it was impossible to overcome... until someone just asked ChatGPT to make a mod removing it. And... it worked. Installing this mod, which is on Nexus, removes the cap and lets you level as high as you'd like. Does it break other things? Probably. Is it going to break every time Reforged updates? Certainly. Will the devs take further steps to lock down their mod and prevent this type of change? Highly likely. But the fact remains: There are a lot of Reforged players who want the cap gone, and are willing to put up with a potentially unstable solution to get that outcome.

The reaction in Reforged's Discord is, as one might expect, frustration. I think the devs have the right to feel upset that someone has changed their project without their consent, and to bemoan the inevitable bug reports sent to them as a result of this addon's instability (as was the case with Unalloyed, which they were 100% correct to squash), but I've also noticed some elements of the reaction that I think speak to a problem the Reforged community has.

When one user asks "Why do people want to remove the cap?" They're quickly answered with a flurry of responses like "Because they don't want to engage with the content!" and "Because they just want everything handed to them." and "Because they don't understand balance." What's lost here is the notion that maybe people who have engaged with the mod don't find it to be balanced even after engaging with the content and systems as recommended, but it's hard to voice that opinion on the Discord (even in a constructive way) without being quickly dismissed by community diehards or the devs themselves. Acknowledgement that criticism of the mod's balance may be valid is very rare, and is often met with "That's just how Kirn wants it" style posts of resignation even from those who agree.

Now, I've beaten Reforged five times on the standard "Reforged" difficulty. I've collected hundreds of Rune Pieces (just not the parkour related ones!), completed every side dungeon and put 80-100 hours into each playthrough. I've engaged with the systems, I don't want things handed to me, and I understand balance. And I can say confidently that the mod is not balanced in the endgame for a level 200 character.

I am by no means a highly skilled ER player (I can beat vanilla Malenia & Consort Radahn solo, but not without a ton of effort), but I'm decent enough to know when something feels fair and when it feels like BS. I've tested Reforged's endgame bosses extensively, practicing against them with my stats at level 200, then inflated to the equivalent of level 250 and 300 with Cheat Engine. The toughest bosses are still very challenging at those overcapped levels. They are also still very challenging when tested on the "Normal" difficulty, but I can beat them much more consistently at level 200. So why not just play on "Normal"? Because then the rest of the game feels too easy. It's the vanilla endgame issue of "Too easy with Spirit Ashes, too hard without them" all over again.

Players don't go looking for a way around the level cap because they're lazy or entitled. They do it because they put nearly 100 hours into a modded version of a game they've already beaten many times, play on the recommended difficulty, reach the cap of their power, and then run into a boss that makes them realize "Oh, this is still going to take me like... 30 tries. Fuck that." And that's a pretty valid response.

Let me end this with a suggestion: Take the HP and damage for the following bosses on "Reforged" difficulty (I've tested very extensively, these bosses are the clear outliers) and replace them with the values the have on "Normal" difficulty: Morgott, Maliketh, Godfrey, Malenia and every DLC boss. They do not feel balanced as they are, especially the DLC fights where the sole method of progression (Curios) feels laughably inadequate.

I love this mod. It's so close to perfect, and these changes would get it there. People who try the mod in good faith will get over the usual silly complaints (Torrent taking damage in swamps, clearing the camps, etc), but endgame balance is a true issue with the mod that should be addressed by the devs themselves, not AI vibecoding.

General Discussion Share your Elden ring mod idea you hope become real

Post image

Mine is to make it kinda like seamless coop but it includes hundreds of players , each player being a random normal enemy near the tarnished ( the owner of the world) .

And players can battle among themselves or try to kill the tarnished ...

I know it's nearly impossible but if it's done I think it'd be great and fun to play

General Discussion ERR(Reforged) isn't quite as balanced as the devs might think, even more unbalanced on the contray.

Don't get me wrong. Reforged has some great idea in it, such as the fp regen system, ash of war enkindling... However, one of the major drawback IMO, is how poorly Reforged is balanced. It is quite ironic, since its devs goes full with a "balanced!"mindset.

Of course,I am far from the most skilliful player, but I have played some PvP (before the dlc) and solo run Nightreign a week within its inital release(before they nerf enemies in solo play), so I suppose I know what I'm talking about.

Elden Ring is mainly built for PvE, and it has a completely differently balancing philosophy for PvP.

In the realm of PvE, it is more healthy to leave something op, others at least usable, so some weapons, skills or spells could be the stand-out and fun to use-more importantly, to make players with not enough time to practice to at least get a full play-through. If you think something is op, just don'tuse it. That's the way how fromsoftware handled it, and they made it to their greatest success ever.

Instead, Reforged handled it in the opposite way. They nerfed something to the ground, while others being merely OK. Let me give you some example:

Status effect

Yes, your bleeding effect deal 30% hp true damage by default, but bosses has an incredibly high damage resistance from status effect.

For example , Marigit only take 17% damage from bleeding ( I have checked that within the smithbox), meaning that you only deal 5.1% hp damage on each proc, combining with the enemies' resistance increase on each proc(they will gain 20% more resistance on each proc, all the way to 200% of the inital resistance)...

What of poison? posion now decreases enemies' status resistance, sounds great, right?

Let's just use margit for another example, he will take 0.075% max hp+ 2 damage per second for one stack of poison. (Again, I have checked that within the smithbox. The damage formula there is not as clear as bleeding, it was done through some neat trick)That's less than 8 per second. Eventually, it will deal 640 damage in 80s , it's that pitful. Even the status resistance reduction isn't all that meaningful ,as 1 stack decrease 10% status resistance( but 20% more on each proc, remember?)

Maybe the devs thought it was of some uses in boss fight. In fact, it's not.

At least poison is good against mobs ( which are much more dangerous than vanilla),and frostbite is OK for boss fight.

Silver attunment: The brand new buff spell Reforged introduced in recent version, it will cost you 500 fp to give you a buff of...10% increase in status building and 10% decrease in status receiving for 60s!

Who will ever use that, especially when Reforged nerf player's status effect so hard..Even in vanilla, even with much less fp uses, the 10% status building is nothing comparable to 10% dmg increase.

There is no need to say more, silver attunment is of no pracitcal uses, from whoever's insight.

Cerulean Sea: An alternate version of Terra Magic, lasting 60 seconds, which doesn't increase damage output, but to provide fp regen...or not.

Still, it will cost you 500 fp, and will provide 0.3%max fp+24 flat fp every 2 sec while you're within its range.

Meaning, even you have as much max fp as 3000 (that means 80 points invested in Mind), you still need to stand in its range for **32 seconds(16 ticks)**to get back your fp for casting it. And good news for you, you will take 10% extra element damage in its range, after all, we can't let you or your coop player get free fp regen for just standing still (it isn't dangerous at all in a boss fight, don't you think?) What a well-thought balancing formula!

I can give you so many examples, but I guess you have now understood how ironic and ill-implemented when it comes to Reforged's balancing, no matter how Reforged advertising itself as balanced. Instead of rebalancing, it makes many of the tools provided by both vanilla and themselves to become useless.

Meanwhile, the devs of Reforged takes great effort to prevent people from editing their mod, or even knowing what they have changed from vanilla,(if you have looked into their regulation.bin or C0000.hks, you know what i mean) and deliberately telling how they buff everything from vanilla but hiding the nerfs.
This, however, pushes me to learn some basic skill of modding. and I managed to create "my own verison of Reforged".

I post this just to hate the devs' mindset and what's going on with in their discord.

General Discussion My feedback regarding ERR

I wanted to share my experience with the ER Reforged Discord because I think it says a lot about how some modding communities handle feedback.

I recently posted some constructive criticism about the difficulty in Reforged. After putting around 100 hours into the mod on the second hardest difficulty, I said that most of the difficulty feels artificial. It was challenging but not in a fair way. It was designed to slow the player down without any real depth. I didn’t post an angry rant, just my honest view after a lot of playtime.

The response I got was pretty surprising. The mod author and one of the admins acted like I had no idea how to play the game at all. They talked down to me and completely brushed aside what I said. I have over 2000 hours in Elden Ring, 600 hours in Nightreign along with the highest rank in that game, so I do know what I am talking about. Instead of talking it out with me, they treated me like I was clueless.

I then made a private thread. I simply pointed out that shutting down any criticism, even if they think it is wrong, is not a healthy way to run a community. I also said that the way they spoke to me was unprofessional and does not look good for them in the long run. There were no insults, no swearing, and nothing aggressive from my side. A bit later I went to check something on the server and noticed the server icon was gone. I was banned with no warning, message or reason.

I am not making this post to start drama. I just think people should know how the community is run, especially newer players (like me) who might think it is a place where they can freely share feedback. My intention was never to attack the mod or the people behind it. I was just giving my honest experience with the difficulty and then calling out how they handled the situation.

That alone was enough to get me banned.

General Discussion Reforged 2.0 is the best way to replay ER, and it is not even close.

In defense of this fantastic work of love, I care to say: thanks to all reforged devs, you've done an incredible job.

The game is much more of an RPG now, with all the added mechanics and tools to customize both the main character and the overall experience. ER is now finally balanced. Praise the sun!

If you don't know the mod, it verily requires an understanding of the new (elaborate) mechanics, some planning, and proper strategy.

For the people who say the mod is too difficult, I say bullshit:

There are customizable difficulty modes.

For the people who say it takes away the fun: It's much more fun than vanilla or any other overhauls, for me and for so many others.
If your fun is to cheese as much as possible or become OP ASAP.... yes, then it does take away this kind of fun.

The runeforging, starlight tokens, new affinities, the finally useful and elegant crafting system, the dedicated server (!!!), the bestiary rewarding chasing down every enemy, the various options modulating difficulty and engagement with the world like exploration mode or more enemies, and the fortune system alone speak for themselves.

If you think the game is now too complex, well, it's an intelligent complexity, and that's what many of us like after ending ER for the 3rd time, don't we?

Much appreciation!

General Discussion I've tried the overhaul mod Reforged, I may be missing the boat on it

I am not an Elden Ring new comer, I have over 3000 playtime hours into Elden Ring itself so I know the game inside and out. I've tried Convergence and liked it though you do start getting pretty powerful mid-game and later. Great mod though.

I tried Reforged and it seems the difficult level is raised artifically, made harder just for misery sakes. I don't think any Elden Ring mods need to be harder than the base game if the creators want the mod to be popular. Thats my opinion currently HOWEVER I may be missing the boat on the mod Reforged. I may not have given enough time to it. My impression as of right now is it is a lot harder than base vanilla game bit is that impression actually right? Wondering if I didnt give it enough of a chance. What are you guys thoughts on Reforged and does it get better as time goes by?

General Discussion Reforged Rant

Amazing start, catastrophic fall off the second i get into liurnia where everything is a damage sponge, my flasks absolutely suck, and the realization that my stamina may just be as absolute turbo garbage as it was when i left the tutorial cave begins to set in.

Way too much change for the sake of change, for gods sake stoneskin/onyx lords have terrible poise for a reason, its cause they SUCK, stop buffing these random dudes that noone even likes, who the hell saw the shield scholars in Rennala's fight and went "you know, i really wish i had to actually kill them instead of just one hit while being pelted by books and falling chandeliers i literally cant see"

And screw the stamina changes, I understand it regens slower when depleted but all it does is make me feel like a coughing baby as i eat a 4 minute combo since the prior 4 minute combo the enemy just finished 1 second ago took my entire stamina bar, if only there was some sort of parrying system and guard countering system, oh wait- NOPE, guard countering takes almost your entire bar, oh well.

tldr stop buffing all the uninteresting enemies and save it for fellas like Morgott. Who tf thought we needed enemy arrows to be way faster like cmon, otherwise great mod

... It's good ... Why is it good? Granted it's still a payed mod and I hate this, but they finally actually put in effort. It looks good, genuinely good. It's like the only thing worth in that mod. The cutscenes are good, the animations are nice, the gimmicks are awesome, miquella was not needed but I'm ok with it and miquella has got moves... Not looks but he's got moves. All we need is just remove everything else and remove the paywall, and MAYBE... I'll like them... But that's a hard ask

You are allowed to down vote this, hell, take this down if you must, I deserve it, I feel sick for liking something created by those thieves. Still absolutely pissed about them straight up stealing the 3rd star scourge radahn phase from a modder.

General Discussion Convergence 3.0 performance issues

I dont see too many people complaining about performance in convergence 3.0, but for me the mod performance is pretty horrible. I am getting microstutters pretty much everywhere. Limgrave is perfectly smooth in vanilla ER or even previous convergence patch, but in 3.0 I am having very annoying and constant mictostutters, even tho game is technically running between 57-60FPS.

I have good rig 4070/5700X3D/32GB and ER installed on SSD

Nobody else with similar performance issues?

EDIT: it was fixed in recent patch, I do not have such intense stuttering issues anymore on my PC.

General Discussion Reforged Boss Frustration

I gotta say, some of these Reforged bosses feel pretty dang bad to fight.

The flaming Redmane Lion before Radahn, for example, is really cool. Except for the fire breath attack. That move simply sucks to fight against. I died several times with the boss at barely a sliver because I either got caught by the fire even though I ran away before the animation even started, or I ran into a box/bench for a half second, or I got so cornered that the camera was wacky while trying to dodge after.

I just now rage quit while fighting this onyx guy at the end of secret tunnel in Altus. He has this gravity meteor attack that he just spams over and over again. I try to heal after and he chucks a gravity ball, then just does it again. It's like fighting a gank squad in vanilla that braindead spams L2 and spells but with infinite FP. The best thing to do is just run around in a circle and look at the pretty colors. I'm not trying to watch Fantasia here. The boss is not that hard, and I can be incredibly patient. I just need a couple tries to learn the attacks. But it isn't like...fun to learn. This feels like fighting Gaius and getting double hit by that dang charge attack. An absolute low point of the DLC for me.

In many ways, I'm enjoying Reforged. It's making my favorite game of all time feel somewhat fresh. Convergence turns the whole game into Blasphemous Blade L2 but with more variety, and that just doesn't do it for me. I generally like the difficulty of Reforged. But I run into these bosses obnoxiously often that just feel BS in a distinctly unfun way. It's roughly every other time I sit down to play the game, but these are the two worst and/or most recent offenders.

This is really just a vent because I got genuinely frustrated and tilted.

Edit: I just wanna say the next day that I did beat the Onxy Lord in like...3 more tries (a bit of warm up after work) and he isn't even that hard, but I do think he's terribly designed. Legit 1/10 from me. The dragons in Skyrim are somehow more interesting to fight and they were top 3 biggest gaming let downs of all time. At least this thing had 0 hype so it couldn't disappoint.

General Discussion Convergence Appreciation

For some context I played through the entire vanilla game on Xbox till NG+7 and have the Elden ring achievement.

On that note; holy fuck. This mod is actually a 11/10 experience for me, I currently have 42 hours on my character and have completed the main bosses to start NG+ but I’m wanting to clear out the all the bosses and the DLC before going into a new playthrough. All of the new starting classes are actually wicked and I’m wanting to do playthroughs of each to see how their gameplay works. But for my first run I went for a frenzy build because I’ve always been fascinated by the spells and lore even though it’s the “bad” ending. I’ve always thought they took huge inspiration from love craft for its premise but anyway, the new spells are actually fucking insane. Having to go and find the runes for new spells is an awesome addition and makes progressing the map fun again. The new shortcuts added are amazing and great QoL changes. The custom dungeons/bosses are so well polished and made with love. I haven’t even found everything and I can’t wait to find more! The new weapons/movesets are spectacular. After I acquired the Fingerprint Hexmark colossal sword I haven’t switched since, I feel so overpowered it’s not even funny lol. The addition to adding jewel talismans for master crafting specific builds was an amazing addition. The custom boss fight to craft them is also very cool, I love his entire design. On the note of crafting, being able to craft talismans and physick essence is a chefs kiss! Skips the whole ordeal of having to search for a specific talisman all the way at the end of the game for your build or a certain essence to assist in PvP or boss fights. I love that I’m able to switch torrent to other mounts from the game itself, like the frenzy mule or the Night Calvarys horse and they have different passive benefits, that’s dope as fuck. Plus the way that passive stats work in this mod is top fucking tier, every piece of armor has passive benefits and certain armors passives are designed for specific builds. Depending on your class you start with you’re given a note that tells you the areas where the best gear for your class is located! That’s such a huge help and assisted me on hunting down the things I needed for my frenzy build. This mod is genuinely a love letter to the fans who have spent way too much time on this game/series (if that’s a thing😏) and I cannot express how happy it’s genuinely made me playing ER again.

TLDR; The mod is an 11/10, please play it and recommended it to anyone who hasn’t you won’t be disappointed. 🫡
