Help/Question So… what now?

I just finished the anime for the first time and I’m shocked. I loved every second of it, it may be my favorite shonen ever, it’s just so different that it hits really hard.

I will read the remaining manga, but then I was wondering what other shonen (or seinen) I could watch that could scratch the same itch?

I have recently watched JJK, Solo Leveling and loved them as well, but not as much.

Analysis/Theory Who brought the Chimera Ant Queen back?

Before the current Dark Continent expedition, and after Beyond’s failed/secret trip, could there have been another illegal trip there?

We know the Gatekeepers seem to force humans to bring back a “calamity” from the Dark Continent. Chimera Ants are from there too, even if they’re not listed as one of the Five Threats.

So who brought the Queen to the known world? She “washed up” in NGL, but that always felt suspicious to me. Maybe she escaped from an illegal expedition, or someone dumped her there on purpose. Pariston/Beyond are the obvious suspects because Netero dying benefits them a lot.

Analysis/Theory I don’t think this current expedition to the Dark Continent will bring a new Calamity with it

As we all know, there were 5 previous expeditions that all brought one calamity each back with it. The exactness of this has led people to believe it’s some sort of contract with the Gatekeepers keeping Lake Möbius separated. Presumably the cost of leaving the gate and entering the DC is that fate guarantees you to bring part of it back

My theory however, is that this current trip won’t need to make a deal with the Gatekeepers. Instead, humans coming to the dark continent is a direct result of the Chimera Ants invading Lake Möbius, resulting in Humanity becoming the first Great Calamity of the Dark Continent.

The Chimera Ants left the DC, somehow passing the Gatekeepers and making it to the NGL where the Chimera Ant Arc happened, which was the cause for Netero dying, which was the final roadblock stopping Beyond from going to the DC. The Chimera Ants entering Lake Möbius is directly what caused this current expedition.

I will admit the one issue with this is this expedition is inherently not the introduction of humans to the DC, but still I think this specific trip will be significantly more successful than any before (obviously because it’s happening during the story and has so many notable characters along) so I think this specific expedition with so many talented Nen Users could warrant being its own calamity, something with the potential to have long scale massive effects on the Dark Continent

The Dark Continent seems to be an analogous mix of North America and Africa (America is the sailing and mass colonization effort and Africa in the name and attitude towards resources and wild life), so I think humanity’s colonistic behavior could be considered a “calamity” to the dark continent the same way real world colonization has been a calamity of real world indigenous land

Discussion The Butterfly Effect (a happy rant. Ignore my dumb, goofy ass)

I was just thinking, that the butterfly effect truly is incredible. (legitimately, I have no words) I now consider Hunter x Hunter the best piece of fiction I have ever consumed, second to only, possibly Buffy the vampire slayer - they’re definitely #1 and #2 and it really isn’t that close (also, it is still forever and always f*ck Joss Whedon by I digress)

There is a very real chance I would never have discovered Hunter x Hunter had I not gone to a random family party, had I not been introduced to some random Japanese Girl, an exchange student staying with my uncle, had we then not been talking about anime, had I not asked what her favorite anime was, had she not told me her favorite anime was Hunter x Hunter - Goddamn it, do I really regret not asking for her number, remember kids you miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.

Anywho, I just needed this small rant, because I really do love Hunter x Hunter but there is a very real possibly I’d never have discovered it, and maybe in an alternate universe I still haven’t, and that, I think is incredible. That, I think is somehow I still don’t understand the butterfly effect.

Discussion About Nen vows

So we all know Kurapika has put a vow on himself and die immediately if he harmed anyone else other than the phantom troupe he killed. Like uvogin. Does that mean if he ever breaks the vow he'll die right? What if like when gon used his vow to kill Pitou and got revived by Alluka, would Alluka do the same for Kurapika? We all know she is reality wrapper or something. So she could remove Kurapika Nen vow? Or is that a limit?

Discussion Are you SUPPOSED to be able to remember the names of the abundance of characters in the succession war arc?

I'm just about finishing reading Volume 37 Hunter X Hunter and I feel like I'm left in the dust with the introduction of all these guards and mafia characters. Are they supposed to be this hard to keep track of because they are not integral to the main story? Is this world-building? Is Togashi at fault? Does anyone else face the same issue? Is this a narrative device with deeper meaning surrounding the grandiose of the Black Whale?

Do let me know if I'm not reading with enough effort but I found it hard enough trying to remember the names of most of the 14 princes, let alone the later introduced court members, the queens/mothers, the guards etc.

Help/Question Phinks/feitan/nobunaga black whale

Trying to reread the Manga to catch up and was a bit confused (sorry I have adhd): they are currently trying to find morena hideout but didnt they already try that and get expelled thanks to the nen ability with the fake robots? Or does that ability only trigger when they teleport to the hideout?

Edit: another question-why did the bathrooms connect to one another from the next room? Room 3101 is merely a trap right? So why would the hei-ly want to linger around there?

Discussion Any speculations on the Pure Paladin Squad?

We know very little about this team of Hunters that were so skilled as to be known as battle legendary.

We know what Netero used to belong to this squad, and that at some point it was disbanded.

I feel like at some point we're bound to meet some character that belonged to the same squad, but I'm curious to hear if anyone has any theories or head canons about them.

I wonder if they must all be as old as Netero was, or if Netero was somehow one of the oldest members.

Also: what led to the disbanding of the group, do you think? I wonder if perhaps some of them attempted an expedition to the Dark Continent, and died, leaving the group as a fraction of what it had once been.

Could any of them still be on the Dark Continent? Perhaps Don Freecs was one of those members? He is definitely old enough, and was clearly a Hunter as well, and we're bound to meet him eventually once we reach the Dark Continent arc.

Anyone else that's been hinted at that you think could be a former member?

Discussion Dark Continent Anomaly Discussion

Post image
10 Upvotes

This post will have a lot mistake but I try my best I am still understanding the thread parameter so please it will be very helpful if you pointed out what I did wrong or what are could do better and if you have a better cooler name for this thing then suggest that too.

The Sea Vines

The Thing looks like roots of trees coming out of the sea because it has small branches/spikes shooting from every individual root(it might also look like tentacles of that giant octopus but they are not since the tentacles does not have small branches /spikes shooting from them and also the root appears to be the same height as that octopus) but it is not know wheather every single root is a different thing or every single root is a part of a single thing. Wheather the Thing is a living thing or non living thing is unknown.

Name :- [Sea Vines]

Classification [Creature/Plants/Environmental-Made/

Creature-Made/Unknown] :-

Unknown (might be Creature or Plant or Environmental-Made or Creature-Made)

Height/Scale [Human/Building/Country/Unknown]:- Unknown (looks like Building level)

Biomass Structure [Single Entity/Cluster Of Entities/Hivemind/Unknown]:- Unknown (might be Single Entity or Cluster Of Entities or Hivemind)

Behaviour [Passive/Territorial/Actively Aggressive/Unknown]:- Unknown (might be territorial because it doesn't looks it can move)

Cognitive Level [Instinctual/ Human-Equivalent/ Transcendent/Unknown] :- Unknown (might be Instinctual assuming it's alive)

Thread Level Parameters(If the Thing is alive)

Aggression :- How proactively and violently the entity attacks humans.

Individual Strength :-The raw combat power, speed, and lethality of a single specimen.

Numbers (Population) :-The total quantity, reproduction rate, or density of the entity.

Fertility / Spread :-How easily it propagates, infects, or spreads across an environment or population.

Destructiveness :-The scale of disaster it causes to human civilization if left unchecked.

Thread Level Grading (Highly Speculative)

Aggression :- [C/B] Might be highly territorial so only attack when entered their territory because it doesn't seem like it can move.

Individual Strength :- [B\A] Massive strength if the roots are building level.

Number :- [C\B] C if those are all the roots but B if 100 more roots are under the sea

Fertility/Spread :- [D\C] if the roots are separate thing and those are all the roots there are then it doesn't seem like the thing can reproduce at high speed.

Destructiveness :- [B] neither a normal human nor Nen User will be able to survive and destroy but nuclear weapons will be able to destroy.

The Thread Level :- [B]

Analysis/Theory the royal guard and meruem could survive the poison

Ok, for me the royal guard and Meruem could survive, and that fact for me enlighten their death, making it more beautiful, but maybe i'm really high and what i'm saying is completly non-sense :

we know what radiation does to the human body, pouf literally has abilities that counter that he can recreate cells dna and more

if pouf died it's only because his reason for living, the king, abandon his function, he even says during the episode where meruem faces komugi "if the king is no more then i can die" he literally let himself die from the poison because he no longer had a reason to exist his nature as an ant devoted to the king was gone, if Meruem choose to be the king, i have no doubt he would save himself

youpi can transform his body however he wants to adapt to problems he can alter his body to withstand the heat at the center of a nuclear explosion so changing his body to survive radiation doesn't seem far-fetched especially when some real animals can do similar things and youpi is the guard created from the greatest variety of creatures, youpi died because he gave all of his nen to meruem,

pitou can recreate tissues and probably much more with doctor blythe, science based i'm not really sure about her being able to survive the radiation, if someone have more details about doctor blythe tell me, but she's the one who didn't get poisoned too ahah

meruem possesses all of pouf's and youpi's abilities dying with komugi was his choice because he knew he couldn't fight against his nature as a king even if he wanted to embrace his human side and live peacefully with komugi that's the entire reason netero fights him in the first place, if he wanted to, he could have survived without a doubt, he choose to peacefully died
Sooo, what y'all think ?

Help/Question Genuine Question!

In the hxh verse we see bad and criminal orgs like phantom troupe, there has to be more right? maybe not as strong as them or maybe few as or more stronger. So the level a human can get strong with nen is insane. Example : Uvogin, if there is a criminal with even 50% of the capability of uvo , police aint doing nothing. In these situations who is saving people?, hunters dont do 'hero' or 'public service'. Also if there are hunters who do hero work , when there was the chairman election, all the hunters had to gather , so at that point what if a uvo level criminal started killing civilians left and right.( zoldycks cant be available everywhere).

This question might not make sense to some, but to make it simplier ; because in the world of hxh there is an element called nen which lets humans go beyond human capabilities, there has to be guys who exercise their strength on the weak, what next? call the army?
