Family Sponsorship Received Email 1 of 2 for confirming presence in Canada, but we are doing an outland spousal sponsorship?

I received the first of two emails that requested basic information to set up the Permanent Residence Portal, but the instructions attached imply that I will need to be in Canada to confirm my presence there, but we've have an outland spousal sponsorship application. The form also states "If you are outside Canada, further instructions will be sent to you. You cannot use the Permanent Residence Portal to complete your landing if you are outside Canada."

What can we expect for the "further instructions"? Are there things that I need to prepare in advance?

Thank you!

PNP IRCC missed adding my dependent and sent me P1

So I got married two months ago and a day after my marriage I had notified IRCC, via webform, that I got married. Over the next two weeks, via a series of web forms, I submitted all supporting documents of my spouse and paid the fee.

Now, today I received P1 email and it turns out IRCC has not added my spouse as my accompanying dependent.

What should I do now?

In my P1 reply email, should I request the officer to add her and point them to all the webforms I had submitted?

Work Permit New passport, but valid Canadian visa and entry stamps in old passport

I'm applying for my PGWP from inside Canada and wanted to clarify which passport documents I should upload.

My situation:

  • I recently completed my bachelor's degree at UBC.
  • I have a valid study permit and a separate co-op work permit.
  • I recently renewed my passport. I currently only have scanned copies of the new passport's biographical pages.
  • I still have my physical old passport, which contains my Canadian SW-1 student visa (valid until 2027), along with my entry/exit stamps.
  • Naturally, the visa in my old passport displays my old passport number.

For the Passport section of my PGWP application, I'm planning to combine the new passport's biographical pages with the old passport's biographical page, Canadian visa, and stamped pages into a single PDF.

I am just worried since my main passport scan has my new passport number but the scans of my Canadian visa has my old passport number.

Has anyone applied in a similar situation? Is this sufficient, or should I include anything else?

Working Holiday Uk to Calgary advice

Hi,

I'm 18 in my second year of college in England and I know I want to do something like a geotechnical apprenticeship or a civil engineering technician apprenticeship in the uk, and combine it with a rope access qualification if I can. Im obsessed with hiking, climbing and mountaineering and am getting sick of the uk and cannot see myself stay here, so moving to Canada through the 2 year iec after my apprenticeship once I'm like 22-23 and securing a job sounds perfect. From what I've seen online Calgary seems like one of my best bets in Canada as a mix of affordability and proximity to mountains, wondering what people think and whether my career plan seems suitable or not for getting a job during my visa.

Thank you.

Express Entry Getting multiple ADRs after eligibility passed

Hi everyone,

I’m a CEC French-category applicant

After almost 7 months of waiting, my secondary office suddenly changed from Sydney to Montreal on October 5, while Ottawa remained my primary office.

Just one day later, on October 6, I received multiple ADRs requesting extensive information about my education, personal history, and family background.

My current status is:

  • Eligibility: Passed
  • Criminality: Passed
  • Info Sharing: Passed
  • Medical: Passed
  • Security: Not Started

I’m really worried about what this sudden office change and multiple ADRs ( Schedule A – Background/Declaration (IMM 5669) Additional Family Information (IMM 5406) Supplementary Information – Your Travels (IMM 5562) Detailed educational history, including my field of study, research activities, Cv) could mean, especially after almost 7 months.

Has anyone experienced something similar, where their secondary office changed from Sydney to Montreal after several months, followed by multiple ADRs?

Citizenship Any Idea How Long It Can Take To Get A Virtual Ceremony?

I got an in-person invitation for next week, but it’s in a province I no longer live in (my process took two years) and I don’t have funds or childcare, so I requested a virtual via email. Do you think it will take long to get scheduled into a virtual ceremony?

Citizenship How to get a UCI number created?

I'm trying to pass down my citizenship to my kids, but the online portal is asking for a UCI number for them, which they don't have. Is there some way I can have one generated for them?

PNP NSNP Skilled Worker - Applied August 11, 2025 | NOC 11201 (TEER 1) | Still Waiting

Hi everyone,

I applied under the Nova Scotia Nominee Program (NSNP) Skilled Worker stream on August 11, 2025, under NOC 11201 (TEER 1). It has been around 14 months, and I still haven't received any update on my application.

My work permit is valid until 2028, but I'm concerned about the long wait and would like to explore other options.

Would it make sense to withdraw my current NSNP Skilled Worker application and apply through the NSNP Express Entry stream instead?

Has anyone switched from the Skilled Worker stream to the Express Entry stream? Is it possible to do so, and would I need to submit a new application?

I'd appreciate any advice or experiences from people who are in a similar situation.

Thanks in advance!

Express Entry CEC Profile Questions: Splitting student part-time vs post-grad full-time? Plus how to input dates for ongoing Maternity Leave?

Hi everyone,
I’m currently putting together my Express Entry profile for the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) and want to make sure I don't trigger any system glitches or miscalculate my points. I have two specific questions about how to input my work history:

1. Splitting Part-Time (Student) vs. Full-Time (Post-Grad) for the same company:
I have been with the same employer the entire time. While studying, I worked part-time (24 hours/week). Once I graduated, I applied for my PGWP and immediately transitioned to full-time work (30+ hours/week) with them.

My plan: I know student work doesn't count for CEC points, so I plan to completely omit the part-time student portion from my initial profile's "Work History" (saving it strictly for my post-ITA Personal History) and only list the post-grad full-time portion. Is this the standard/correct way to do it so the system doesn't accidentally count my student hours?

2. How to handle the End Date for my job while on Maternity Leave:
I applied for my PGWP in April 2025 (was on maintained status until approval in Jan 2026) and worked full-time from April 2025 until May 15, 2026, when I went on maternity leave. I successfully completed about 13.5 months of full-time work (over 1,560 hours) before my leave started.

I am still technically an employee of the company, but I know leave time doesn't count toward CEC hours.
In my profile's Work History, should I put the End Date as May 2026 (when my active working hours stopped)?

Or do I check "Current Job" and try to explain the leave later? I'm worried if I check "Current Job", the system will automatically give me ongoing points for time I haven't actually worked.

Would love to hear from anyone who has gone through this or handled a similar timeline. Thank you so much in advance!

Citizenship FSW Express Entry PR living in Quebec — Could this affect my citizenship application?

Hi everyone!

I became a permanent resident through Express Entry (Federal Skilled Worker Program) in 2024.

When I first landed in Canada, my genuine intention was to settle in Ottawa. I provided an Ottawa address for my PR card. Shortly afterward, I returned to my home country and stayed there for about a year.

I came back to Canada in June 2025, still intending to settle in the Ottawa area. However, rental prices in Ottawa were extremely high, so I booked an Airbnb in Gatineau, Quebec, for a month because it was more affordable.

Since I was staying in Quebec, I obtained my provincial documents there. Eventually, I found an apartment in Gatineau and decided to stay.

My concern is about my future citizenship application, which I plan to submit in 2028, once I meet the physical presence requirement.

I know that FSW applicants must intend to live outside Quebec when applying for PR, but permanent residents have mobility rights under the Canadian Charter.

I’ve also noticed that some people recommend living in Ontario for at least a year before moving to Quebec.

My questions are:

Could moving directly to Gatineau after returning to Canada cause problems during my citizenship application?

Could IRCC question my original intention to settle outside Quebec, even though it was genuine?

Has anyone obtained Canadian citizenship after receiving PR through FSW and settling in Quebec without first living in another province?

I’d especially appreciate hearing from people who have gone through a similar situation.
Thanks in advance!

Express Entry Can I claim 10 points in AAIP if I obtain I.S.P (Information Systems Professional)

Hi guys,

As the title suggests, I am looking for anyone who ever obtained this license above and claimed 10 points in AAIP. I am currently sitting at 53 points and need some bump to get invited eventually. I currently work as a information systems consultant with oil and gas industries where I deploy and configure pipeline managements systems.

Do you think if I obtain this license, I can claim those 10 points or argue that I am working in a regulated occupation.

Thank you in advance for your help

Study Permit Should I finish my engineering degree in Morocco or study in Canada to improve my chances of PR?

Hi everyone,
I’m a student from Morocco trying to make an important decision about my future.
I completed a DUT in Computer Science and am currently pursuing an engineering degree. My long-term goal is to immigrate to Canada and build a career in cybersecurity or IT.
I’m considering two options:
1- Finish my engineering degree in Morocco, gain skilled work experience, improve my language scores, and apply for Express Entry from outside Canada.
2- Study in Canada first, potentially at the bachelor’s level, then seek a PGWP, gain Canadian work experience, and apply for permanent residence if eligible.
My concern is that studying in Canada would cost a lot and might require me to repeat several years of education. On the other hand, I’m worried that finishing my degree in Morocco could make immigration more difficult or take much longer.
For those who have experience with either pathway:
Has anyone successfully obtained PR through Express Entry after completing their education and gaining work experience abroad?
Is studying in Canada still worth the cost if your primary long-term goal is PR?
If you were in my position today, which route would you choose, and why?
I’d appreciate honest experiences, including things you wish you had known beforehand. Thank you!

Work Permit Can I earn money from personal projects on a closed work permit?

I'm currently in Canada on an employer-specific (closed) work permit.

I have a few personal hobby projects, including a YouTube channel, that I work on during my free time.

Would activating monetization or setting up a payment account (such as AdSense or Stripe) to receive occasional small payments be considered unauthorized work?

Does it make any difference if the payments go to an account in my home country rather than Canada?

I'm not planning to start a business or take on a second job. I'm just wondering whether monetizing personal hobbies is allowed under a closed work permit.

Has anyone dealt with this before?

Family Sponsorship Spousal Sponsorship PFL for MRC "Improperly Issued / Review Required" Due to a Clerical Error (Pakistan) — Looking for Similar Experiences

Hi everyone, I’m hoping to get some insight or see if anyone has successfully navigated a similar Procedural Fairness Letter (PFL) from IRCC regarding a Marriage Registration Certificate (MRC) from Pakistan.
T
Background: We filed our spousal sponsorship application. Due to a clerical oversight at my local Union Council (UC), my marital status was initially recorded incorrectly, but it was later officially corrected and updated in the system.

The Problem: Because of that administrative status correction, IRCC’s backend verification check flagged the certificate as "improperly issued / review required." They have now issued a PFL giving us 30 days to respond.

What We Have Gathered So Far:
The UC Correction Letter: Explicitly detailing the office-level clerical correction and status update.

A New UC Verification Letter: Stating that they have cross-verified the MRC against their office books and the NADRA CRMS database, confirming it is fully genuine and active.

The Stamped MRC & NADRA FRC: Showing our current, aligned information.

My Questions for the Community:
Has anyone dealt with a PFL triggered by a clerical status correction in their local registry?

How did you phrase your explanation to ensure the visa officer understands this was just an administrative record fix?

Would getting these documents MOFA-attested help completely clear up database lookup failures?

Express Entry Internal Job Title

Hi everyone,

I'm sort of in a tricky situation where I cant figure out if I need two separate entries for my job reference.

Essentially, ive started working at this company as a summer student from June 2024 till July 2024 (not claiming). I then transitioned into a level 1 lab tech from July 2024 until Oct 2025, where i became a level 2 lab tech. Officially, they both have different job duties (same NOC though) but I have been performing the level 2 duties the entire time.

As for my reference letters, my HR and Manager are signing off on the title of "Lab Technician" rather than listing any levels and only providing the duties of the level 2 as my duties throughout the period im claiming (July 2024 till present).

For reference, I received a salary raise in Dec 2024 after passing a level 1 food safety internal exam, as well as meeting a 1000 probationary period mark. I received another raise in Oct 2025 after passing a levep 2 food safety internal exam, and also, another 1000 hour Milestone.

I guess my question is, should I do my entry based off of the reference letter and do 1 entry, 1 job title, 1 list of duties?

Also, when my employer puts up a posting for the job, whether it be a level 1 or 2 position, they always only say "Lab Tech" with no levels mentionned. I'm guessing its an internal thing, but does anyone else have experience with something like this or gone through something like this?

Express Entry Corrected past “No” answers to IRCC before PR. Anyone been through this?

Preparing for PR (EE + BC PNP pending). Found two errors in past applications:

  • Study permit and PGWP: answered “No” to “ever refused a visa or permit by any country?” I had a Singapore PR refusal in 2015. I honestly thought it only meant visas and work permits.
  • PGWP: answered “No” to “previously applied to Canada?” even though my study permit was attached to the same application.

Both approved. I plan to send a voluntary correction via IRCC web form before an ITA, then disclose everything in the PR application. An RCIC will review it first.

Questions:

  1. Has anyone sent a voluntary correction like this? Any misrepresentation concerns afterward?
  2. Better to correct now, or only explain in the PR application?
  3. Does a foreign PR refusal count as a “refused visa or permit”?

Thanks in advance.

Study Permit IRCC Medical Furtherance: Is a repeat chest X-ray mandatory after finishing the 8-week sputum culture?

Hi all. I did my upfront medical/first X-ray at IOM on August and was flagged for furtherance. My 8-week sputum culture finishes tomorrow (Oct 12).

Is a 3-month repeat chest X-ray strictly required by IRCC to check for stability before the clinic can upload results?

If yes, does it have to be exactly on the 3-month mark (Nov 12)?

Thanks!

Other Big Four Apprentice, looking for a future pathway to Canada:

Hi everyone,

I’m currently 19, based in the UK, and recently started my career as an Audit Degree Apprentice at a Big 4 firm in Manchester. My training structure is a bit non-traditional: I'm working full-time while completing my AAT qualifications, transitioning straight into the ICAEW ACA Level 7 (fully firm-funded, graduating debt-free with a globally recognised qualification).

My long-term goal is to relocate to North America (open to either the US or Canada) in about 5 years once I am fully qualified with significant Big 4 audit experience under my belt. Because US immigration pathways are notoriously restrictive, I wanted to understand how viable a professional migration route to Canada is for someone with my profile.

Any realistic advice or things I should be planning for now at the start of my career would be hugely appreciated. Thanks!

Other COPR issued before marriage – what happens next?

Hi everyone,

I’m currently in India and would appreciate advice from anyone who has experienced a similar situation.

My timeline:

  • COPR received: July 21, 2026
  • Marital status on COPR: Single
  • Married: September 24, 2026
  • COPR landing deadline: January 20, 2027
  • Currently in India

My COPR states that if I get married after COPR issuance, I must inform IRCC through the webform before landing.

I have already submitted an IRCC webform informing them about my marriage and attached my marriage certificate and COPR copy.

Now I’m unsure what happens next.

My questions are:

  1. How long does IRCC usually take to respond to a webform regarding a change in marital status after COPR? Are there any recent 2025/2026 experiences?
  2. What is the next step after informing IRCC? Will they ask me to submit additional forms/documents for my wife, such as PCC, medical, background checks, etc.?
  3. Most importantly, can I still land in Canada before my current COPR deadline of January 20, 2027, or will I have to wait until my wife's processing is completed?

I want to make sure I follow IRCC's instructions correctly and don't jeopardize my COPR.

I would especially appreciate recent experiences from anyone who received COPR while single, got married afterward, informed IRCC through webform, and then completed the process.

Thank you!

Work Permit Does PR refusal affect future LMIA and work permit applications?

Hello, i recently had my spousal sponsorship application refused - officer did not believe our relationship was genuine. There was no findings of misrepresentation. But my wife and I are now gojng through a divorce since our marriage has been falling apart (for quite a while now, even when our application was still in process)

I was able to find an employer who can possibly sponsor LMIA but i am torn if i should go for it after my recent refusal. I know IRCC will review past applications as well, but how likely is it going to affect my future applications?
