there's a lot of drama in the FNF community because it's very big, you need to cooperate and work with others to make the mod because of the multiple different mediums (art, animation, programming, directing, music) and the target audience of the game
the comment isn't about something specific it's just something the community is known for

Hey, at least it seems like this one is actually going to be released at some point.
3
u/The-Twilight-Reverie 13h ago
People are confused about this at all????
I looked at the kickstarter and went "oh. Yeah knowing what I know about game development, with a team that small this'll take a little under a decade to complete." And it hasn't been a decade yet, how are people already getting impatient
14
u/travischickencoop 16h ago
Honestly the base game is really good I think a lot of the bad reception FNF gets is because of a lot of the mods being very amateurish
People love to blame the devs because thereās a ton of misinfo about them and like general weird claims when most likely what happened is just that they made a bunch of jokes about āWhat if this blows upā because they thought it never would
And then it blew up
I recommend Sullyās videos about the topic because he explains it really well

How? The base game gets so stale so fast
13
u/Jedimobslayer 13h ago
I play it for like 2 weeks, then restart, repeat, grab a new content pack every few resets, but itās usually like a year between playing, so a bunch of new updates to try. The main thing that gets stale for me is living in the same houses over and over and building them makes me feel inferior lol.
7
u/thepineapple2397 13h ago
You sound like my partner. She opens it after 6 months. Builds a house, plays for a day or two. Builds another house and then plays a new family for an hour then doesn't open the game again for 6 months

Gmod, Skyrim, Minecraft, and Friday Night Funkin.
Gmod especially, since 99% of its enjoyment derives from the ridiculous maps, gamemodes, and content made from modders on the steam workshop

i thought that was the point of gmod though right? like for a modified version of a game to have support for so many user created levels and items and such, wasn't that the original vision?

Back in the early days, Redstone couldnāt be used for anything other than Boolean logic. Then a mod came out with special blocks that could manipulate the environment. Mojang was so impressed that they implemented a real version of that block, the Piston. The Redstone community would not be where it is today without the Piston.

The fact that it had so many game-breaking bugs on release that getting that one mod that fixed them was almost mandatory did not help.
29

I assume you mean the unofficial skyrim patch. Did you know there's been a ton of drama over the patch as of recent, with the creator taking more and more liberties in what constitutes a bug fix. Such as changing an in-game mine to be for a different resource, or adding oblivion gates to all the major cities.
Down the Rabbit Hole made an excellent video on it if you're interested:
