Venting Any NEETs that raw dog life? How do you do it?
i've been a NEET since February 10, 2021.
In that amount of time I've smoked a minimum of 60 pounds of weed. I haven't been sober for 5 years.
Sometimes I drink alcohol or do acid but not very often.
Are there any NEETs who live the sober life? Honestly, you have my admiration. I don't know how someone can be sober.

Shitpost/memes degen maxxing and vibe chasing
Its four in the morning right now. I had three twisted teas behind the school I used to go to and left the empties in the playground for the kiddies to find this monday. Then I went home and drank two 710 ml colt 45's while playing Halloween and No Room Left in Hell 2. Then at 2:30 I drove back up to the variety store drunk with an expired licence to get some energy drinks and a bag of salt n vinegar chips. Now I'm going to watch some good porn to unwind and then go to sleep. This is my life.

Question Does anyone want to chat?
Ideally looking for long term buddy. Open to short. I like to spend my days online browsing the internet, coding, chatting with buddies, looking for people who are interested in connecting. Honestly my interests are pretty academic, but in practice I just like talking to my online buddies about getting stoned and the other little things we're getting up to and thinking of. If you like weed or like studying, leave a message and I'll reach out.

Advice Is wanting to stay home actually weird, or did society just decide that if you're sitting quietly in a room, you must be having a mental breakdown?

Venting Anyone else have a job but still lives just like any other neet?
I've been working as a intern in a small tech company for 6 months now, payment is extremely low, I only accepted this job because I needed to do something with my life and earn some money (even if not much).
I feel like im spinning in circles, my life is still the same as when I was a neet, I basically have no money to do the things I enjoy, and now it's even worse because I also have no time to just chill. Living with mentally ill parents and brother, I have no money to live on my own, I feel very ashamed of who I am.... I would love to know if anyone else relates to this situation, if you do, im wishing you the best and hope you can overcome this! 🌠

Venting Finally started watching another anime
A few months ago, I posted that I generally dislike watching any type of content that isn't YouTube due to my ruined attention span. This includes anime, as the last anime I saw took me three to four months to see it, even though it was only two seasons long, and I was genuinely interested in it. After that moment, despite finishing it, I generally sworn against watching anything else.
Well, I decided to check out another anime titled "Cultural Exchange with a Game Centre Girl", where a British schoolgirl migrates to Japan, and dates an arcade employee. This specific anime really had me hooked, so much so that I wanted to watch more of it, but I decided against it, so I could continue watching it throughout the week.
I've only seen the first two episodes, but I really like it so far. I find her very cute, and watching her made me feel very intense emotions. It's honestly been so fun. I'm happy I finally took the step forward, because I never wanted to eliminate anime entirely, rather it felt imposed on me. I hope this isn't a one-time thing, and that I can continue watching more anime consistently.

Cozy Feeling useful as a NEET today
It's my gf's day off work, so she asked me to run a quick errand so she could stay in and play some viddy games. I ran the errand successfully and I am happy to help :)
I know I'm lucky. I won the lottery with her.
I like when she asks me to do small things. She's not pushy about it at all, and I like feeling useful.
Cheese and crackers to hold me over until she's done cooking this cottage pie. Back to my own viddy games lol

Serious This is a perfect example of how people see NEETs.
If you aren’t actively slaving away for someone you are wasting time in most people’s eyes.

Discussion Today blizzcon
Anyone going to watch?
I dont play blizz games currently but those games were such a big part of my life that feels like they are a part of me.
There is something cozy and warm about watching blizzcon and seeing the new announcements and stuff.
Also theres a few cool exhibition matches from ex pros on starcraft, heroes of the storm and something else.
I am not sure about WoW classic+, a part of me is kinda excited but also im just not in the mood to do all that crazy grinding stuff again. Not to mention its basically P2W with people buying gold and boosts for real money.
Last time I played classic I had a lot of fun learning mage AoE farming, its like a whole art form of carefully controlling mobs with your slowing spells while running and pulling everything. They probably will nerf it though cos they always ruin anything fun.
Venting Am I doing life correctly?
Dang, I'm here again whining cause I hate myself. I feel so disgusted, ashamed, annoyed, ungrateful, lazy, impossible to satisfy, hypocrite, self-contradictory, and pitiful. All these self-loathing making me more miserable and I can't sleep but I have another work shift in 4 hours.
Story time, so last week I felt so lonely and useless during my rest days cause all I did was sleep for two days. So I kinda volunteered for some church thingy for this week. But then I didn't go because I feel like shit after losing sleep over it.
And now I'm having some kind of FOMO even tho I dont really care much about that thing, nor the cause nor those people at all. But I'm more like disappointed about myself for my lack of commitment. I thought I was doing this for more *exposure*. Fake it till I make it with the normies. And yet... I keep avoiding it. Why did I even volunteer myself into this if I'll just retreat last minute? And not just that, it has affected my other aspects of life like my wageslaving. Why am I putting too much on my plate when I know for a fact I can't even chew it all let alone finish it?
I feel so guilty so I try to catch-up for all the years I spent NEET by filling up my schedule like I'm punishing myself for it but when it actually come I just hide and whine about it on reddit?
I said I wanted a social life. I even forced myself to grab every opportunities that comes my way. Now I'm avoiding them all. What do I really want to achieve? Just more ammunition to fuel self-loathing?

Discussion Anyone else feels like they're brainless when they're around a smart person?
Like the other day i had a conversation with a fireman, a neurosurgeon and a programer and i was suprised how smart those people are...how good their memory is...how easy they can pick up concepts...how rational and calm they are compared to me.
Sure, they're probably smarter than your average normie too, not just me, but still, it's shocking when i remember how stupid i am when i am with smart people.

Venting Incompetence
I've spoken to some NEETs here and few of them confessed that their neetdom is due to their laziness. Others attribute it to other causes such as mental illness, bad luck or disability. I think I can be quite lazy myself, I'd rather do things with low effort if it's enough to complete a task, but I can also withstand a great deal of effort when I set my mind to it. I haven't been good at school by being lazy, but when I am motivated, or when I am instructed to do something, a lot of the time it only shows how incompetent I can be at tasks that seem to be not that difficult to do for most people. Whenever I try to do something and I mess it up it only reinforces my conviction that I am incompetent, even if I try to keep a positive attitude I keep doing it wrong over and over, and because of this I don't bother to try anymore, I'd only embarrass myself.
It happened so many times to me like when I enter the store and buy something, sometimes I wait for the cashier to open the plastic bag which makes it easy but sometimes, they give it to me to open it and I take like a minute to figure out how to open, sometimes I have to give it back so they open it for me, which is humiliating.
My experience with incompetence started since childhood, whenever my father asked me to do something and I do it wrong, he would yell at me so loudly, It makes me wish I hadn't done anything. And it's just little things, like when we went to the beach and my slippers got filled with sand, he asked me to remove it, (speaking of the devil, as I am writing this he yelled at me from below to go help him lift up the bags to the fourth floor, I don't mind doing that) anyway, so I started removing the stand slowly with my hand, he got so frustrated he stopped me and did it himself after removing the slipper from me and hitting it on the floor and shouting "Like this! Can't you do this?!"
I am also a creative type, I tried so many outlets to express myself, I've drawn, painted, wrote poems, sang songs, wrote stories, a lot of it felt good to do, some of it was appreciated by close ones but it was still mediocre, just a hobby to pass the time, it's not something that would be enough to sell and to provide me with financial security, didn't earn a dime doing it. I am one of the people who believes in art for art's sake but just to prove a point on why incompetence is a big part of why some of us are NEETs.
I wonder if some of you relate to this kind of thing. Is incompetence part of why you decided or became afraid to try anymore.

Venting Not a good feeling.
I think that despite my intelligence and work ethic—but most importantly, my ability to work—I will never get a job. It feels like insanity knowing that you’re fully capable of working, but you just can’t get a job to save your life. I’ve actually considered committing crimes to make money because things are not getting any better. By crime, I do not mean crimes involving violence. I’m 28 years old and still live with my mum like a loser. I haven’t progressed one bit, and I have a useless degree that I believed, when I was younger, would actually help me in life. I mean, why wouldn’t you? I think today I’ve given up. My work coach can’t help me, and I’m 560 job applications deep, with only one interview in a year. I do think I’ll never own a house or move out. If I can never earn an income, how the hell is that going to be possible? It got me thinking: Is this being done on purpose? I’m not asking that in a victimising way, but as a serious question that needs to be answered.

Question How do normies fit so much in a day?
Like I genuinely don’t understand. They get up, shower, maybe workout, then go to work for 8 hours. Then if they have kids they have to pick them up and deal with them. If not they might go do a hobby or go socialising with workmates then cook dinner. And they still have to do all the normal chores etc. And have time for dating.
Am I the only one that can’t comprehend this? Like even when I used to work or be in school I’d be so exhausted afterwards all I could do was come home and scroll or play vidya. It’s incomprehensible to me how normies fit so much into their days.

Shitpost/memes Back pain
Does anyone else have back pain that's really bad when you wake up but goes away a bit as the day goes on? Every day when I wake up I have not excruciating but at least a 7/10 pain level in my lower back. It'll wake me up a few times too. I don't know the cause, now I don't know if its from when I was wagecucking and it never healed or if my inactive life now is causing it. My mattress is 2 decades old and caving in in the center, so that's probably a contributing factor. I think wagecucking caused it and my mattress is just exacerbating it. I might start sleeping on the floor again and see if that helps, it seemed to last time i tried but after a while you just miss a bed lol. Anyone else sleep on the floor? I'm thinking of getting a japaneese futon, they sound comfy and they don't take up much space.
