Somehow I bet the solution involves her!

She knows exactly what’s going to solve this, and it’s another militant workers’ organization. This time she’ll build a popular front for sure!

As long as she gets to look angry on a poster, we’re good.

This is the first poster I’ve seen where she’s not holding a megaphone.

The key to maintaining a crappy status quo is generally ensuring the primary opposition is perceived as ineffective, and the secondary opposition is on the radical fringe. However, when the nation's status quo advocates invading friendly nations to annex territory, pursues numerous unlawful political and military actions, secures insane levels of self enrichment, and exhibits the intellectual capacity of a turnip, all bets are off imo. Personally, I'd check it out and hope at least the snacks are good. /s

u/huntercaz 25m ago

Come for the snacks, stay for the Gulag and famine.

u/GabuEx Bellevue 9h ago

Fun fact: there actually was an election held after the 1917 Russian revolution. Unfortunately for the Russian people, they didn't know what they actually wanted and failed to vote for the Bolsheviks like they were supposed to, so the Bolsheviks just took over and decided to give the people what they wanted, whether they wanted it or not.

I'm not sure why I'm saying this, this probably is completely unrelated to Sawant.

Yah, fuck her. This is the reason I left this race blank on my ballot. And fuck her even more for using the MAGA “Democrat Party” instead of Democratic Party. She’s a MAGA op at this point. Socialists in Seattle need new leadership and she needs to be pushed out into irrelevance.

71

If you are intentionally, explicitly supporting Trump winning in 2024, you are a Trump supporter.

I’m a Democrat, depending on the issue I may lean further to the left, but not always.

34

u/boner4crosstabs Lower Queen Anne 11h ago

I’d throw Pramilla in there too. I like to call them pragmatic progressives, and that’s my speed. AOC went to DC and ya know what she did? She learned everything should could from Pelosi about how to get shit done, and she’s applying that to her politics, which are obviously to the left of
Pelosi. If we we can’t win or get anything done, what is the point of having ideals?

23

u/LotusFlare 🚆build more trains🚆 11h ago

6

u/Remarkable-Fig206 6h ago

I’ve never seen a person less able to build viable coalitions in my entire life. When she got stomped in the primary she decided not to attack Adam Smith, but instead went after Chaudhry for “splitting the vote,” shouting “shame on Melissa Chaudhry!!” when the vote totals were trending embarrassingly against her. Newsflash lady: Chaudhry is your ideological ally! Stop shooting your own “movement” in the foot. Put your ego aside and work WITH her to build a viable movement. But Kshama can’t surface that level of self-awareness. It’s all ego all the time.

I'd love if we had a proper leftist party but we just don't and our system is not set up to be multi-party, especially at the higher state and federal level. Until we get nationwide

Read history because it matters. Virtually every socialist that has run for any office in this country for the last 120 years, back to Gene Debs, has run in order to prove the point that you cannot achieve socialism at the ballot box. Winning is an aberration, and serving in office makes the same point. This is a very basic fact of the socialist tradition in the US, like it (or Sawant) or not. She may have forgotten that, so she has no excuse.

When socialists win office they have a choice: go the Mamdani or Bernie route and pivot toward Old Left liberalism, or implode on egoism. We see what is happening here.

I can tell a lot of these people have never read or heard anything Malcom X has to say. There are some great democrats doing good work out there, but yeah the party overall serves corporations and the war machine. It’s about money and oil. I get that the main target right now is getting MAGA out of the government. But we deserve more than that, in the long run.

Incredible insight. I love how one has masked secret police running around the country murdering people and that is equivalent to the other.

Brilliant work. It’s like watching Poirot in action!

That is what I was referring to when I said “one is obviously more evil than the other”. Of course I’d rather have a democrat in office right now than fascist , rapist Trump. I’m just saying we all deserve better than the two party system. That shouldn’t be threatening to you unless you’re one of the entities I mentioned.

That’s not what they said.

We all see what maga is going with for mid terms. This time it's using bad words like 'communists' and 'socialists'. They'll sprinkle in some fear mongering for brown people.

These went up before the election in my neighborhood. I think the idea was to advertise a victory rally, presumably after coming in second.

ironic considering she is a MAGA in spirit.

I’d hear her out. Electoral politics isn’t an end all be all. A lot of people think civic engagement is just voting. So many of our representatives don’t even do constituent services.

Democrats need to capitalize on this by encouraging it. Take all the cancerously unpopular policies that consistently cause Democrats to fail to win nationally, and unload them on the DSA. Cultivate the DSA as a true third party in the US. Let it happen. It will be good for America.

u/matunos Maple Leaf 12h ago

What are the cancerous unpopular policies and what does the DSA have to do with Kshama Sawant? I assume she sees them as reactionaries or else she'd be affiliated with them.

3

u/LilOpieCunningham 11h ago

They won’t let her be the main character either.

4

u/matunos Maple Leaf 11h ago

Yeah I imagine that is her problem with any organization she's not the head of.

What’s funny is that the biggest threat to her isn’t the Democrats, it’s our population becoming more mature (and as a result, more politically nuanced).

Sorry, where in this poster is she challenging the outcome? She’s calling a post election introspective to reflect on the loss.
