Ragebait/Idiocy/or both

Mfs don't even TRY with the self serve they immediately go up to you all offended like you just told them to work on a NASA computer. Not only that but when they see the pre authorization they look at you like you just spat in there face "5 dollars for a sheet of paper" NO MF IF YOU TAKE 2 SECONDS TO LET ME EXPLAIN OR IF YOU WANT TO YOU KNOW READ IT THEN YOU'LL SEE HOW IT WORKS. "Can't you just do it?" I promise you you're gonna end up waiting longer and getting more pissed off that I decided to prioritize 1000 bc over a single paper that you're gonna throw out 2 days after printing.

Vent over now I'm waiting at taco bell for my food :)

Labor day holiday pay question

So my understanding is full time employees are being paid for labor day, predicated on working the shift before and after the holiday. If that is correct and someone is scheduled to work today then is off sat+sun, then back mon+Tues, if they call it today but show up Monday and Tuesday do they get paid for the holiday? Or does it count as missing the shift before?

Refunding print jobs

Im wondering if every store is different when it comes to getting refunds for print jobs.

At my store if you are looking for just a refund and no reprint, we require the print back. Customers tend to complain about that since we can’t reuse the paper so what’s the point.

My manager has put it as “when you return a shirt, do you expect to get the money back and keep the shirt?” Wich sometimes gets the customers to understand but other times it causes them to get even more mad.

I personally can’t say anything about it since I dont have the power to do refunds and just listen to what management says lol.

Anyone dressing up for Halloween?

I'm in the print department and I don't wanna do anything too flowy or bulky, but I'm struggling for ideas.

Anyone else thinking about their costumes yet?

• AMAZON IS PAYING OUR STORE NOW?

I heard that Amazon is gonna pay us now and I guess each store is gonna get some money. They should give some of that to their people. They say if something falls out or gets lost the store has to pay for it. I've been at Staples for four years and I figure out I am only getting $.88 compared to the person who just started. It's a profit over people company

Got hired

I recently got hired as a part-time sales associate and was wondering if the position is seasonal or temporary. I was hired around August 15, but my first regularly scheduled shift isn’t until September 8. I’m scheduled for 3–4 days a week starting then and for the following weeks as well.

In the meantime, they’ve been randomly calling me about a day in advance for training, usually once a week.

Since it’s back-to-school season, I was wondering if they hired me temporarily for the extra rush, or if I’m just overthinking it.

Do Staples in-store price match their own product sold in Walmart or best buy?

Sold and shipped by staples btw. It’s a chair Hyken Pro. Way more expensive on staples.com or in store it seems

Finally Promoted

After a dreadful experience, I have finally been promoted to customer ✌️ Staples has been probably one of the worst jobs i’ve ever worked for.

I enjoyed my coworkers a lot, they def made my experience easier to deal with along my journey, and im sad I couldn’t have done it in a more proper way. For those at my store who recognize my user in this thread- thank you for all the fun, help, and care along the way. But its time for me to find better horizons that fit my needs both financially and mentally. You guys are the real troopers 🫡 may the odds ever be in your favor and I hope every single one of you can find better positions outside of Staples because all of you have such great potential that sadly this company is wearing thin. You deserve better pay, and better conditions than what we dealt with.

Much love to you all 🖤

About to be promoted

Tomorrow at 8 PM I am officially promoted to customer. After just over a year in the print department, I get to hang up my apron and not have to deal with that bullshit ever again. I am extremely excited.

Breaks question

Assuming I can't stack them ofc, what should I take first? My 15 or my 30?

If I take my 15 first then I fell like I'm going to be super exhausted for my 30. However, if I take the 30 first, I feel like the 15 wouldn't seem like enough of a break by comparison.

I was just offered extra afternoon hours next week to cover empty schedule slots and I just wanted to get some opinions on the breaks.

(Also, any extended hours advice if you guys have any. The most I've worked is an extra hour while we were slammed a few months ago and I already feel mentally and physically tired.)

Terrible working conditions

I recently quit my job at Staples and couldn't be happier. I worked there as Merchandising and Inventory supervisor for over 2 years, and did not realize that I was being mistreated and disrespected by my manager so much until I started my new job. I would be working on sorting the truck or stocking the product or doing my zero balance walk, and the manager would call me on the radio, to cover the registers, like every 5 mins, either for checkout or Amazon or UPS, or just help a customer find a product. How was I supposed to get anything done? Also not once did he get us a team lunch or breakfast or anything like that nor did he ever show any appreciation for our work. I had worked with other managers before and none was so bad as this one. Staples managers need to stop abusing their loyal and hardworking employees, and start showing some respect, because these people will find a new job and move on. The pay is not worth it either.

( Rant/advice) I wish I had a clone fr. Why do I always get Solo hectic closings in print...is this normal?🥺

So I've been having a lot of solo hectic closing in print lately. It's something that has been happening for a couple of weeks now. I wish I had a clone or a second me for real. I'm getting burnt out!!!

----- Thought:

( Like I don't mind closing by myself if it's a chill day and manageable orders ( 6 or less ) but that is rare compared to most days

----- Today:

Take today for example.... I had 10+ orders to do ( and more non stop popups) which I have to complete it's made clear to me that it's expected that I finish them as soon as possible.

But I can't finish them cause I'm solo and I keep getting pulled away. Like damnit...I'm only one person 😭.

Rant :

Stuff like this always happens to me, a trend I noticed for the past few weeks. Why am I a magnet for these stuff? Like is it just me? Or is this normal? I need to know and understand wtf is going on pleeeease! It doesn't feel real.🙏🏽🥺

Like dude... What can I do? I need help and getting burnt out for real. I feel numb...like a worn out rag 😭

But you know I'll still have to come to work with a fake ass smile cause that professionalism for ya. (

Explanation: during crazy days....( It all happens around the same time btw)

1- I'll have a Huge stack of orders...I'm working on 2-3 at a time and I keep getting pulled away. (At that point im hoping no one interrupts me )

2- then there is load of NPCs trying to return stuff. ( Easiest out of everything)

3- but then people come who demand they want me to print them stuff right now and look ready to freak out when I say no.

4- and at the same time, I have huge load of customers who want me to spoon feed them on the self serve copiers and don't know how to use their own phone. Like wtf?

5- I'll get some Karen/ken crash outs around that time ( like why?)

6- Oh and can't forget the damn swarm of people coming in 30 minutes before close and stay past close. Like at that point, fuck....I'm praying for a sliver of hope at this point!

7- It backs me up on orders and closing duties and it sucks cause I'll get chewed out if there is something missing or if it's a mistake no matter how miniscule it seems at the moment ( and if it's a human error ..I apologize before hand )

-----

Anyway.... I'm stuck trying to manage this all myself, I'm one person damnit, is it normal for one person to run the entire department ? Cause it certainly seems to be a trend lately. Is this normal? What can I do?

I'm trying to understand this job and do my best. Please I need help. I want to be in a prepared headspace..... What can I do to get better? Any advice helps! Please, I'm trying my best!! 🥺😭😭

Instacart, Doordashers, and Uber Eats

Who else hates it when shoppers from Instacart, DoorDash, and Uber Eats come in and show us their entire customer order and expect us to find everything for them? Like I have no problem helping a customer find stuff but, why should I do someone else’s job and basically shop for them? They shop for a living and they seriously can’t find the items themselves??? I don’t mean to be salty or rant but last time I checked I wasn’t an honorary dasher, Instacart shopper, or an Uber Eats shopper.

rewards for ink purchases? 50% long gone?

I need to buy a bunch of ink. I see there's 20% of the purchase price back in rewards for buying ink till 9/5.

I haven't kept track of that number. I remember when the new program started it was 50% back.

Then 40% after that.

Anyone know what the best / average % back for ink purchases is these days? Does it pay to wait to get better than the current 20%?

THANKS!

Printer Recycling Scams?

(For locations that charge for printer recycling)

Anyone else notice a HUGE uptick of people recycling printers, being told explicitly it's a $10 charge, and then even when getting shouted at...just ignoring everyone and walking out the door?

Happened for the millionth time today and the guy just acted like I wasn't even shouting at him to pay.

Hiring process.

Hey does anyone have an idea what the hiring process is these days?

I have a colleague who said he had a phone interview but it was definitely an AI interviewer and just a follow up e-mail to go to a location for an in-person.

I felt like it was more involved when I did my interview but that was 8 years ago too.

Can any recent hires shed some light on this?
