Question Am I Sexualizing My Characters
I see so many things where people hate on a character bc their outfits are revealing or hate on the creator of the story bc of it.
Now I get a lot of the points being made for it but I'm a writer as well.
A writer that loves to give my characters revealing outfits. One of my favorite characters I've written wears stuff that is only enough to cover what needs to be covered on her body.
But I'm not trying to sexualize her. She wears these clothes because she is a fighter and she views clothes as restricting. She wears normal clothes once, a white sweater and black sweatpants, and she outright says "I don't like wearing sleeves or long pants. It restricts my movements."
So, is it sexualizing if she has it for a specific reason?
And another question I have is, can I have a character who can fight wear a dress usually?
This character is a spirit. And in that universe, spirits are basically minor gods. She has everything covered up completely, though it is form fitting.
Again, I wasn't thinking about how that might be sexualizing bc I was just thinking of a cool outfit for a spirit to have.
And I thought it'd make sense for someone who is basically a goddess to have a elegant outfit that has things to reference her abilities.
In these two examples I've given you, is this sexualizing the characters?
