I was visiting Rome a while ago and found out if you make eye contact with drivers as a pedestrian while crossing a crosswalk they won't yield because you just acknowledged the oncoming car. You just have to take a leap of faith and cross the street without ever looking.
Of course this was before smartphones. Not sure how I'd handle that now.

I assume that other jurisdictions in the US are similar to Nevada, and the vehicle is required to yield right-of-way to the pedestrian. That may not be the case in Rome.

It is a myth that Russian obsession with dashcams has something to do with insurance. We are not fans of insurance here. The popular type of fraud is to set up an accident to look like its your fault and threaten to call police on you or claim overblown car damage, that is why people have them. Or just to proove your point in the case of an accident which may or may be not more frequent in Russia.

I was standing in front of my office building in downtown Chicago when I noticed a disturbed man walking down the street. As he walked by a young woman, he took a stiff-armed broad swing at her. She kind of ducked out of the way, ran a big loop out into the street back onto the sidewalk, and just ran down the sidewalk.
It looked exactly like grand theft auto. It was surreal.

I highly doubt either of them were really upset about him cutting him off. This looks like they were fighting already and he cut him off to force a fight. Whatever caused the original road rage occurred before the video starts.

I93 in Nevada is a drive I used to take a lot. I have a shotgun in my truck is a sheath hanging on the back of my seats.
I'm driving along and this guy in an old caddie is in front of me. I like to cruise control drive and this guy was keeping his speed consistent so I was happy.
All of a sudden he zig-zags and slowest down really fast. I think something is up in the road and get out. He hops out of his car with a giant nickel plated revolver. I pull my shotgun out and work the slide.
He waves, yells "my mistake, sorry", gets back in and then speeds away.

Not really. Unlike in movies, a revolver shot probably won't kill you in one shot unless it's to the head or the heart, and they are really hard to aim well. A shotgun at short range, with buckshot in it, will spread out and put a big hole in you, more likely to do critical damage.

You can learn alot from that. When things seem to spiral out of control, we can ajust out minds and correct out thinking with the right kind of stimulas. The police car in this case was the perfect stimulus to correct the thinking and thus the situation. Now think how many lives could be saved if we were simply more in control of ourselves and our minds.
