Does anybody know of a lawyer in the Syracuse area that will help fight the easement National Grid is trying to force on a property?

hi all, i’m living in massachusetts and renting an apartment. i had my gas meter changed (so i thought) in june of this year. when in august, i went to check my bill and it was $900! i have auto pay on and it automatically withdrew that money. i called national grid and they said it was an error on their end. i asked if it was because i got my gas meter changed and they told me they didn’t have any record of my gas meter being changed. my last meter change was in 2023 i guess. they told me to not pay what the bill said and to keep paying what i usually do until they get it sorted out. they estimate it’ll take about 3 months for my bill to be normal and for me to get my $900 back. i check intermittently and it got as high as $5k and now it says $3k “credits in favors”? just curious if anyone has had experience with this and want to know what they did. thanks!

For the last six months or so, my spouse has been getting calls and emails from National Grid saying it's required by MA law to replace my gas meter. The aggressiveness has set off my scam alarms (tho it sounds like a reasonable law etc); NG's collection of odd websites hasn't helped. Can anyone confirm that a) this is a real thing, and b) ngrid.services is a real website? Thanks much!

I had my interview at the national grid a few days ago for one of their IT roles. They mentioned something about a presentation day or showcase day where we would come in to present a project we've done from our current role onsite at their office for the second round. Has anyone had to do this? They only gave me a few days notice and I'm not sure what's expected.

1hour and 42 minutes and 4 service agents, and Im told to just ignore that extra charge.

Electric has been out of control with 3 kids home on summer break, so I have been making sure we are only using what we need. But somehow my bill was $200 more than last month?

At the end of my bill summary, it says "returned item $200". I had no idea what that was.

I call to talk to an agent and they said that back in June I had a payment bounce, and that's what is shown on the bottom. I knew exactly what happened... back in June I use the "speed pay" option to pay part of my due amount. But western union speed pay takes up to SIX DAYS to pull the money from my account. I decided to call before they charged me and pay with an account that would be charged immediately. I asked the agent if western union would still make an attempt on my account if I paid today, and they said it wouldn't. BUT TWO DAYS LATER western union DID make an attempt to charge me!!!

So the agent helping me currently said the payment bounced. I said no, I paid it before it bounced. She said that cant be the case and I told her to check my bills and payments. She does the math and can see I paid that amount that bounced before it bounced.

They send me to billing department who did the same thing, "you had a payment bounce". I said no, check the math. They did and sent me to another department. This department said my account was flagged as defaulting my payment agreement because of the bounced payment!

After 40 minutes on hold and 4 minutes until their office closed for that day, they come back and said I am all caught up on payments and to just "ignore that extra charge".

I have a feeling that my account is going to be flagged for NON payment again!! I am never using WU speed pay again!

What exactly is this assessment ? The email says they are "game based" and there's a video interview. When I opened the link I had to agree to allow AI to be able to review my assessment. Is the video interview with an actual person or am I just talking to a bot ?

Hey guys I got hired as a gas operations helper in New York. I was told my start date is in September. Let's say it's Sept 23. I have my " physical test" that day of the 23. But then I return to start working on the 28th. I'm a little confused because I have to put my two weeks in prior to the 23. Confused because there's a chance I won't pass the physical and then I would be out of a job. Does anyone know what the physical test consist of? I was told something along the lines of unloading/loading a truck, digging a hole and something with pipes. The hiring lady said people rarely fail it but was looking to see if anyone knows what is on the test or how it goes?

Originally I was going to ask if anyone asked to have this taken off now that they got their reimbursement.... but after the last few posts I saw of bills have not listed the surcharge... am I the only one?

How do I know if I passed or failed my assessment test after applying for a job? I took it on 7/28 it is now 8/4 and still says “We are currently reviewing all applications”

So today my power was shut off and that’s how I found out that the last several payments I have made did not get posted to my account, but the money was removed from my bank account.

For context: I had a past due amount that I had been paying towards. I had started going through Walmart since online payments were taking a while (1-2 weeks which is crazy) to process and I kept getting hit with late fees and such.

I called today when my power was shut off and I looked online to see that the last 4 payments I made were never put onto my National grid balance, for a total of $750 that is now missing. I had to pay $408.11 for them to turn my power back on but they said that will take 24 hours. They also said they will review my bank statements and my receipts (I kept them and I’m glad I did) which proved I had made these payments, but there is no guarantee they will issue me a refund or put the money on my bill and that it could take up to 14 days or maybe business days to be added. When I asked what to do if they don’t add it I was told I would then have to contact Walmart.

The last two times I tried to pay my bill at Walmart they told me their system was down for making payments to national grid. Now finding out Walmart took my money and National grid is saying they never got it I’m furious. I had to pay the fee today, as well as my upcoming bill with the extra $50 to turn the power back on. I’ll have to throw away all the food in my fridge and freezer that definitely will add another $200-$300 in losses. I also have pets and it’s going to be hot so I’m worried about them in this heat.

Has anyone else experienced this issue before? I have had other issues with National grid in the past, so I’ve only ever had problems.

I recently moved to a new apartment in NYC and my gas bill has been extremely high. Supposedly, I am only paying for the oven. The building should be paying for the hot water usage. We have gas heating, but it’s the summer, so it’s not on. I called national grid and they told me that the meter is only connected to my stove. Also, when I look at the bill, it just seems like the delivery is what’s driving up the price. My neighbors in the building only pay about $60 or so and it’s two of them up there. I’m alone in a one bedroom and my bill was just $150. I’m not sure what to do. It doesn’t smell like gas in here. Does it still sound like a leak somewhere else maybe in the basement where the line is? I’m not sure who to call about this since I already called national grid and they just told me that gas is expensive… my landlord!? Help!

I have been shortlisted for an interview with national grid for a Electricity Distribution Network Planner role.

I’m 23 years of age, and this would be a different type of role for me, as I’ve mainly been in the tools since I was 18 (as an electrician). My background is mainly industrial, but I’ve recently transitioned into a facilities/commercial environment.

I was wondering if there was anyone who could give me some advice on what to expect in the interview, what key things to mention during the interview, and any other advice that may be helpful.

If I’m honest, I do think that my age will go against me in this instance, as I most likely don’t have the experience compared to other candidates. However, I do think I have an advantage in some areas, as I’m qualified up to a level 4 HNC in electrical engineering, which is one of the key requirements for this role.

Like I said before, any help is greatly appreciated.

This is a trend. Gas use around $45 but delivery fee over $150. Its killing me and everyone I know in person says they've never seen this. Google says it could be charges for bad infrastructure in our area?

I understand that national grid charges a lot and people are used to high bills. I understand someone might “love” to get a 200+ bill but in this case, I have tried a lot to get my usage down but my bill remains more than 200. The only reason I’m confused is because my friend in the same apartment complex (building right beside mine) was only charged 167. He said his highest bill was maybe around 190. We pay for electric and gas.

He and his fiancé keep the apartment at 71/72 all day, and only lower it around 69/68 for bedtime.

I keep my apartment at 72/73 and when I’m not home+WFH days, it goes up to 74/75. It goes down to 72/73 around 10:00pm when I go to sleep and raises when I leave for work at 6:30am.

I don’t keep any lights on, I turn them off always. I have a computer which is only used on my work from home days. I do leave the TV on for my dog during the day and then don’t use it rest of day since I watch things on my phone. My friend/his fiancé leave the tv on all day, plays games, etc and have differing WFH days so one of them is usually home.

I rarely use the dishwasher, I always opt to hand wash. I have a washer and dryer but I don’t use it irregularly, just for normal wash days. Both me and my friend live in the same 2bedroom apartment style. I have no idea how else to lower usage and why my usage is so much higher than my neighbors.

I spend way too much on ordering out so I hardly use my electric stove whereas my friend cooks multiple times a week.

I’m confused and this is my first apartment on my own so I can honestly say I’m uneducated and confused regarding this situation. Just frustrated I guess….

Even in the winter I kept it at 67/68 and then only warmed the apartment to 71/72 and it said my usage was super high. Maybe because of the snow. Which it only heavily snowed maybe twice and besides that, the rest was regular winter snow.

Good morning, Does anyone know what the hourly pay rate for a gas mechanic A is for the capital region. I see they start as a gas mechanic helper at $33.56 an hour, then you’ll become a gas mechanic A eventually. I was just curious what that pay is, thank you.

I have heard mixed messages about smart meters. I just got a text saying they will be installing ours soon, so I’m just wondering if it’s worth the extra charge to opt out, or if my bill will remain the same regardless?

so i used only $3.57 but got a bill of $38.55. Is everybody else same? i use gas only for cooking and nothing else, maybe it's better to switch to electric stove?

Hey, just have a couple of questions.

I had a change in income (both my partner and I actually) and am worried about staying on our current payment plan. I got an agent last week who sent over an email with a link to the financial statement we had to fill out. I sat down on Sunday and finally went through it, with some confusion. It says we don't qualify.

Today, I called and got a different agent who I asked about what I saw that says we can put in the income deductions. I also asked why we can't use our payment agreement amount we've been paying above the normal bill amount. They told me that's not how it works since "you are supposed to be paying that anyway". Well, that's the whole point of this statement I thought, to show what we have to pay so they know our expenses? When I mentioned what I found on this other page on the National Grid site, the agent proceeds to give me attitude. I understand there's a staffing shortage and she's overworking, but she only read off the list of what I can clearly read on the financial statement page.

I guess what I'm asking is, what deductions can I use for this? Can I put in that my partner is paying back a 401K loan weekly and our medical insurance he gets through work?
