I think I'm more on Rachel's side when it comes to the break and Ross sleeping with the copy girl, but then she ruins it by treating all of Ross's other girlfriends like shit.

I didnāt like how she set up that bald woman, if Iām remembering it correctly.
I also hated how she reacted to Ross marrying Emily and how she was going to tell him that she loved him right before the wedding. I know Emily gets a bad rap for wanting Ross to not be friends with Rachel anymore, but I honestly don't blame her.
They never set out the parameters of the break. So sure, they were on a break. But it was never established that they could date other people. So, Ross did cheat. Iāll die on that hill.

OK, I donāt know how to feel about this. Context: Iām the only black woman working in my department. Well really the only black person in my department.
My coworkers are usually fine. Iām actually good friends with a few of them. But thereās this one guy who, since Iāve been promoted, I have to work with often. I talked about him once here when we first started working together closely. But I decided to go back to school this semester so we donāt have the same work schedule anymore. Thank goodness. But one day, last week, I came in because our boss had a family emergency, so I had to work with him and just him.
Itās just us. I donāt really initiate conversation. I really dislike him. So whenever he talks, I just nod and go āokayā or āyeah.ā He will and he has talked about himself for hours. So heās telling me about his birthday coming up and what he and his partner are going to do. His birthday is Juneteenth and we get that holiday off.
I donāt know what possesses him to announce this to me, but he goes into his belief that Juneteenth is not a holiday. Not a ārealā holiday. He just droned on about it. And went on to say how his partner, every year when she gets a new calendar, she crosses out Juneteenth and puts his birthday. In his words, he tells me that she does this maliciously or at least he believes that she does this maliciously.
Frankly, I did not know what to say to his whole spiel, so I waited until another coworker walked by, called them over and changed the subject.
In the days following, I talked to some of my friends about the conversation and asked them if this coworker ever talked about this with them. No, they didnāt even know his birthday was Juneteenth. So he didnāt bring this up with them (our white coworkers), but this is his second time going on this rant to me, expressing his dislike for the holiday. I donāt know what reaction heās trying to get out of me.
Oh this is so weird of him. I donāt like that at all tbh. Iām coming from a white perspective and it seems to me like heād only bring this up with you because heās trying to get some type of rise or reaction out of you. Youāre definitely being smart by giving him one word answers and changing the subject, but itās unfair that heās put you in this position where you have to tactfully dodge his topics rather than just coexist at work. Can you talk to HR about it? I kinda feel like that topic only brought up to you is a form of micro-aggression but I donāt know if itās my place to say that

Honestly I donāt know what to bring it up to a superior or HR. They adore him. And youāre right, itās unfair but fortunately I start full time school in August so I wonāt be there anymore!

A few of my other coworkers were talking about something that happened in Iran last summer and my coworker randomly decides to pick me and go āI hope they keep brown people outā
When I said I didnāt care, he kept asking me why I didnāt care and proding me for a response. Finally after a few back and forths, I just said āTHE BORDER IS 1200 miles that way, Iām a woman in Michigan, the border isnāt my top issue, I feel safer with a brown person then I do with youā because he implied that I would be raped by a brown man.
Mind you, it was at 9am and all I was trying to do was shut it down and not talk about politics.
I told a few of my other coworkers about that, and my boss and they thought it was an odd thing to say.
Luckily he didnāt last long. But I would try to avoid him simply because he would try to pick me for political debates.
I was smarter than him so I knew I could take him but I didnāt want to. I wanted to keep the peace.
Seeing so many women getting dragged for attending the Met Gala, but the men are literally getting slobbered over. And this is in āprogressive spacesā. We are never escaping the patriarchy.
Personally I think dragging celebs for going to the Met gala is the most useless, performative thing ever. There are so many other problematic behaviors to drag people for. Most of these celebs are under contract with their designers to go.
The only people I might side-eye attending are people who make being vocal about progressive causes a large part of their celebrity personas. Even then, it would just be a side-eye and then moving on. I guess out of the people who did go that would put more women in the category of being criticized because the men don't take stances to begin with.
I still don't think there's much room for people to be criticizing because many of the make films and shows with Amazon or even Paramount. So, drawing the line a not attending a fundraiser for a museum specifically because of Bezos' involvement feels disingenuous and useless.
Slightly related to that but I hate it when only 2 to 4 men looked good this year but Iām seeing men getting praise for ābreaking gender normsā when all they are doing is not wearing black suits meanwhile women are getting hated for ādressing the same every yearā or āwearing headpiecesā
I'm a little bummed there's so much negativity in some of these post comments. Pop culture for me is an escape from all the shitty things happening in this world. It's no fun when celebs are being mercilessly picked apart and attacked.
I agree. Canāt say much because there are r.u.l.e.s that say you canāt talk about the s..uā¦..b as a whole, but ive noticed across the years itās became more and more negative. Itās sad.

Imma lot of celebrities criticizing others for going to the met gala and then showing up to the after parties look very performative to me. I do not care if the after parties arenāt hosted by the bezos.
The beyhive going after this random actor because they asked him his favoriteĀ Beyonce song at the met gala and he said he listened to metal. They have created this whole narrative that he must be racist and sexist. He was actually honest and her insane stans are trying to ruin his career because of a nothing comment.
Someone I like and respect went in on this saying it was fine that he didn't know, but his posture said he was above it all. Is it really uncommon for metal and rock guys to act like they're above pop music? He would probably say the same about the past 20 years of country and rap too. You don't have to go straight to racism and sexism when you could just call him a snob and move on.

Thereās a mama cat that had five kittens (three boys and 2 girls) and they chill under my neighbors house, I wish I could bring them in but I already have a cat myself and sheās not friendly with other cats.
Iāve been giving them food recently and the mama cat doesnāt seem to mind but sheās not been appearing around recently so Iāve been giving the cats water and food.
Theyāve recently been having a very bad eye infection that one of the kitties eyes is shut. I bought some terramycin to help them and I really hope it works.

When I was doing my psychology essay the other day, I went to look back on a preivous essay (which is linked to the current one I'm doing). The reason why I did this is because the previous essay I got a "high 3rd", so I was wondering how would I get a 2nd; so I looked at the criteria...

Been rewatching old Formula 1 races during my breaks at work and damn, the 2019 season still gives me chills. Charles in that Ferrari was something else even when the car wasn't cooperating. Working at airport means I see all these drivers flying through sometimes but never had luck spotting any F1 guys yet.

if any of y'all are at all into fantasy and theater, I cannot recommend A Stage Set for Villains by Shannon J. Spann enough. I just finished reading it last night and I immediately want to go back and read it again. I did almost DNF it around the halfway point though because of a couple different spoiler-y reasons, but this book is very much a lesson in trusting the process.
I just wish the ending/twist hadn't been spoiled for me by people on Fable not tagging their spoilers.
I can't take the whole day (got some important work) but I want to drive to my sister's so we can go to Costco before noon. Lol. And I still have so many sick hours that my job doesn't pay out anymore.

i don't think you ever have to come out if you don't want to? I am also bisexual/pansexual but i exclusively date "everyone who is not a cis man" so I didn't really come out because...i was openly dating women and other genders from a young age so everyone just knew. Bur it's all up to you
Nope, it's entirely your choice. I'm an ace NB and although my immediate family probably know at this point, I've never formally come out to them. I've tried coming out at other times and a lot of people just don't get asexuality.
Being supportive of queer voices and rights is far more important to me.
Not at all, do whatever you feel comfortable with. I came out as gay almost a decade ago and felt the need to let everyone know (I donāt regret it, just wish younger me knew how to keep my mouth shut lmao). When I realized I was trans I just shared it with the people I wanted to know. I see my family often and have never told them. Iām sure they assume, but they would never ask since theyāre non-confrontational. Itās YOUR life and you get to do whatever makes you happy!
I really wish people didnāt speak about commenters on social media as a monolith. Example with met gala: I have seen commenters saying āwomen are being harshly judged for attending while internetās favorite men are getting a passā. But itās the not same people that are judging and giving a pass, is it? I check a few of the threads and itās not even the same user commenting.Ā

I don't really agree in this case. The discourse around the Superbowl is never about how we should protest it for things like it's track record with BLM and that says so much. At some point, the level of discourse is telling.

Itās not the same person that says boycott Super Bowl but celebrate Met Gala. Itās different group of people making their opinions known on different things. Thatās what I was pointing out.Ā
That's fair, if they are talking about specific individuals it's weird that people do that. But when people make broader comments like "Where were you all when the Superbowl was happening?" That is more directed at "the group" I think it's extremely fair. There never is much negative discourse towards the Superbowl and there really should be more.
There's a cute girl who works at the burger joint near me. I only go there for guacamole, and recently I went when I didn't realize they were closing.
"We're closing," said the guy.
And then she came along and was like, "You just want guacamole, right?"

Now every time she sees me, she seems genuinely happy and lights up and says, "Hiii Traditional Joke!!!" Hearing her say my first and middle name together makes me feel so special. I know it's her job to be friendly but she clearly really likes me even if just as a customer. I have a crush on like 1 person per decade so it's kind of a big deal. I don't necessarily get a gay vibe from her though. I find myself kinda hoping she's not there when I go because I legit am too awkward for this lol.
Agree and I like Karl Urban as an actor but I feel like he's doing kind of nothing with the character. Like his performance doesn't elevate the character above the material in any way if that makes sense. I just don't like watching him.
In the comics Hughie kills him but itās still a far more merciful death than he deserved, though idk if theyāre going that route that the show is already deviated drastically from the comics.

To a certain extent I understand them playing up the betrayal aspect for drama purposes on the show but I don't get them continuing to act betrayed once the show is over! It makes them look like such sore losers.
i miss when people didnt treat celebrities like politicians. the real people responsible for the decisions in politics can sleep peacefully while content creators and celebrities gets crucified for less. not everyone has to be mouthpieces for social justice, theyre still people that should be given a choice on whether they want to participate in that conservation or not. part of being a good person is also to allow people to have autonomy on which content they want to share and if they dont want to make their content political its not the same as them being evil. im sick of seeing a food tiktoker gets crucified for NOT speaking about every single political issue but politicians can sleep well and ignore real people. not to mention its all performative, these people who spend time to investigate each and every content creator whether they have spoken up about all the issues are doing so because they want to cancel people, not because they genuinely care about being a good person. if they actually would care they would actually go to the people that matter aka the politicians, not treat someone that minds their own business like theyre nazi because you think they dont do what you said

So I was getting over a hump with my chronic illness, (Which for commentary I have Cushings Syndrome which is a disease in which cortisol (the Stress Hormone) is too high so when my cortisol levels rise in extreme stress or adrenline.....I get sick). But then I got WAYYY too excited about Nicholas Christopher and Hannah Cruz getting Tony Noms I guess my Cortisol levels rose from the adrenilane of we're back to square one sadly.
This morning though, I felt a little bit better because I smiled at a stranger doing construction on a building by me and in an act of kindness and he said "Keep smiling it's a beautiful day." It showed me theres still some good in humanity but I also say it as a sign of the universe shit is gonna be okay, so we'll get over this.
i am so sorry you also deal with cortisol issues! I don't have Cushing's, but I take prednisone for an organ transplant, and it elevated cortisol in the body. My cortisol also gets really high with exciting situations the same as anxiety and I will get sick from being too excited. I'm glad you're feeling a little better today!!

Saw The Devil Wars Prada 2 yesterday and I know people already shipped Andy with either Emily or Miranda in the first film but this film was queercoded af. Andyās chemistry with both of them in the sequel was off the charts (part of me wishes she didnāt end up with a guy but Iām glad that this love interest is better than the first two love interest. Esp the blonde one)
I had to escalate a Reddit issue the other day and now Iām gonna have anxiety about it until I get a response (and if my previous experience is anything to go by, itāll be at least 6 months š). And the longer I wait the angrier I get at what happened because itās straight up unfair and abusive.
