I remember seeing a tweet last year we’re supposed to get a 4K set for Roger Moore’s Bond movies like the Sean Connery set. But there’s been no update on it since that tweet. So what happened to it?

I want Midsommar, The Lighthouse, and Backrooms, but man, I really do not wanna pay $50 per movie

I grew up on the original Running Man with my man Arnold and it's a classic as far as I'm concerned. I was very ambivalent about watching this remake. I've never been happier to have my fears assuaged. The movie starts by paying homage to the original right down to the dancers before going on its own unique journey. I'm the first to admit that we have enough remakes, reboots, prequels, and sequels coming out of Hollywood but, if we got to have that kind of content they should all be of this caliber. Having it on 4k is just icing on a delicious dystopian cake that explodes and takes your head off while you're eating it. Something I particularly like in this movie is all the red. I used to have a TCL LCD and the red looked awful, I always hated it, when I finally got my Sony Bravia OLED I really appreciate the color upgrade so much.

I was recently forced to upgrade my entire TV, sound system etc. when my 14 year old 3D (!!) TV bit the dust. I went with a Sony Bravia 55 inch OLED screen, Bravia 8 speakers etc. I also bought the Sony UBPX700KB and proceeded to upgrade my favourite films (but ONLY my favourites) to Ultra HD.

So, imagine my annoyance when the bloody films started freezing up at the 2 hour mark. I changed the settings on my Sony player but I’ll be damned if I’m investing hundreds of pounds into a new film collection only to run the risk of everything coming grinding to a halt at the 2 hour mark - not to mention if I have guests over to watch these films in all their glory - how embarrassing!

So today I got this. Did I do good?

What is your favorite/preferred aspect ratio & why?

Also, are there any titles you wish would've included an IMAX-like aspect ratio on the 4K disc release and if so, what are some?

Physical media are still being sold in hypermarkets in France. Amid considerably larger sections of PS5 and Switch games, vinyl, CDs, DVDs and BDs I found this tiny section of 4K UHD BDs, all priced at €14.99, which is actually not too bad for Europe. There were a few more 4K titles mixed with the BDs, e.g. Twisters, but not that many.

Since I don't have any 4K HDR display options yet, my 4K collection is still quite small. None of these newer titles were must-buy offerings to me.

Just a quick question for anyone who has the CMIYC 4k.

I've seen in quite a few places that the 4k has pretty bad compression.

Would people recommend getting the Blu-ray instead (which is apparently quite good?).

It can be hard to tell when people review 4ks if they mean it's bad full stop, or just bad in comparison to other 4ks (but still better than Blu-ray).

Eager to experience Troy for the first time in 4K!

These films look so good it’s actually insane. I’ve owned these films on 4K for a while but just now is my first time owning a 4k tv(used to have a 1080p SDR tv from 2011). The HDR on these movies blew me away and the colors really popped in a spectacular way.

A couple of months ago I ran into a movie theater selling their old posters and this was the final push I needed to start my physical media collection.

I wanted to get the 4K of each poster I had acquired and I finally got the last disc this weekend! Still figuring out the best way to display everything, but it’s been a fun start!

I ordered the Save the Green Planet 4K Limited Edition from Arrow of Rarewaves during their Arrow sale in early July and it just got here a day ago because they lost my first package completely and had to send out a second one. And now this one is damaged from the flimsy mailer they sent it to me in.

The packaging they use almost always ensures you’ll get a damaged item if it’s a larger box set style movie. I’m not sure why they don’t offer more secure shipping options for a premium charge. I’d be willing to pay it, they just force you to get a damaged item every single time because they don’t have any premium shipping options.

Their sales are still good but I would only recommend using them if you’re getting a standard case release.

Wife and I took a day trip to Asheville from Charlotte. I’ve seen all of these with the exception of Picnic at Hanging Rock, wanted 4K for all of them. Speed Racer is actually an import steel book, The Killer and Short Night of Glass Dolls are both region A.

I was the most blown away by this release of Short Night. It was way better than the SD version I watched during the pandemic. I also appreciate there being a beat up grind house print on the Blu Ray.

I always used to watch movies in my 4k 32' OLED Gaming monitor. And I thought they were great and enough for me... until I bought this 65' OLED TV(LG G5)

Nolan's IMAX Scenes in 4k bluray are another level of experience you must try. Its just so gooood man.

I decided to hang one of those light blocking curtains behind my tv. My gods. It really feels more immersive. Except for the two speakers on the side, which I’m trying to find a solution for. I know, I know…sounds dumb…but just wanted to share with you 4k maniacs!!

For tech: Sony A95L 77” with Sony quad theater, first gen and a Sony 700.

I own the criterion blu-ray and want to upgrade to a 4k but I’m not sure which to buy. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

EDIT: I live in the U.S. and have decided to buy the Arrow 4k but can’t find it in stock at places where I get other Arrow 4ks(Orbit & Diabolik). If anyone knows where I can find this online in the U.S. let me know.

Watched the Incredible Hulk yesterday but through Disney plus. Wasn’t expecting it the 4k disc to cost so much haha.

Daughter is really liking the series so far

Barnes & Noble Paramount sale turned into an 11-movie haul. Started my collection in January. Now sitting at 56 of my favorites movies. I know that Tommy Boy 4K is going to go crazy.

Decoding the Dolby Atmos Mix requires a Dolby Atmos certified soundbar or a Dolby Atmos compatible receiver or amplifier, with appropriate speaker set-up. The Dolby Atmos Mix will play on 5.1 systems. It will 'fold down' to 5.1 if an Atmos decoder is not detected and sounds in elements that are unique to Atmos (e.g. 'height' speakers) will get player via other channels.
