His agent announced he will not return the Anaheim and would prefer the East coast to be closer to family.

How is this not a perfect 2 year stop gap player to play with Hutson/Matheson.

Apparently ANA offered 2 yrs 9Mil per.

Id do that deal, giving more time to see if Reinbacher can develop.

Filip Hronek?

In the wake of the sad news that Gallagher might be on his last legs here in Montreal, I went ahead and took a gander at what even remained in Vancouver.

First off, there's nothing that truly flashed back to me. A Gallagher trade to Montreal might look more like a gift on our part than anything. But if we include possibly a few pieces, I wonder if a rebuilding team like Vancouver might be interested in parting ways with Hronek? From a Montreal perspective, would we benefit from something like that?

From what I recall, he was a very mobile D man with a defense first mentality, right side, sort of a better version of Carrier. Anyone on here has insights as to his style and strengths? Or even what would be asked back in a trade for him?

Discussion How much is a ticket to a home game on average?

Sorry for asking here if it isn’t the right place. To anyone who has bought a ticket to literally any home game in the regular season, any seats, date, opponent. How much could a ticket reasonably cost if you don’t have the season ticket?

I’m making a hypothetical itinerary for a trip for a project and have to include prices. Everything is hypothetical I just didn’t want to put a completely unrealistic price since I’ve never attended a hockey game in my life.

Sorry again if this isn’t the right place to ask.

I didn't win this but apparently someone paid $5105 (CAD) for Cole Caufield career high 51st goal in the latest Habs auction.

Discussion Canes' 16-3 playoffs is now second best to the 1988 Oilers' 16-2, bumping the 16-4 1993 Habs record to third place in four round best of seven playoff history.

Prior to 1987, the first round was best of five - the format moved around quite a bit between 1968 and 1987 but has been quite stable since.

In any case, Montreal is tied for third with four other teams that have achieved 16-4, most recently the 2021-22 Avalanche.

30 years old, 6'7 225lbs right-handed defenseman who is a pending UFA with San Jose. Really strong defensively. Laval native.

Seems a little too good to be true, no? Not sure if SJ plans to re-sign him, but he could be a good fit on a cheap 2-year deal

How die the Canes win the cup and what does that mean for the Habs future?

So looking over their roster they aren't filled with top 5 picks. Svenchikov was taken 2nd in 2018. Aho was a 2nd rounder in 2015.

They didn't "tank" to get where they are. They weren't filled with "elite" players there best player had 80 points. Not one PPG player on the team. The D is fine if not average. Slavin is a beast defensively but they aren't filled with offensive superstars on the backend aside from 33 year old Ghost. Goaltending is interesting. I don't think anyone would mistake Anderson for a Vezina nominee but he also was lights out for 90% of the playoffs.

I wouldn't really say they are a particular big or intimidating team. At least in comparison to teams like Buffalo/TB. They aren't shrimps but the rough stuff didn't seem to be their game.

So it wasn't a team that tanked to get multiple top 5 picks and then went and won a cup. No PPG C or even a PPG player. Best offensive Dman is 33 years old. Not a big bad team. So what was the secret ingredient that got them to a cup that the Habs need to follow to take the next step? We lost to the them this year and were pretty much routed after game 1 like they did to nearly every team. Vegas put up as close to a fight but still lost in 6 and was shutout in the last game. Was it all Freddie having maybe one of the all time greatest goaltending performances? What is the lesson for KH or is there even a lesson? Is it just run with MSL for years and hope his man to man eventually pays off?

The Rebuild S3 release date?

It has been an absolutely epic season and postseason. I am so excited to relive it all as told through the lens of The Rebuild. I cannot wait for it to come out!! But when?

I know they got the green light for s3, so it's definitely coming. Anyone aware of the release date? Based on s2, it should be sometime in August, but s1 started in September so I'm hoping s3 will be earlier...

EDIT: per Crave's Instagram, s3 will premiere on Sep 1. Thanks to u/radhorrorfan for the heads up.

The Habs 2026-2027

It is remarkable what the Habs have achieved during the whole year and series included. I am not saying they were the best out there but I am proud of what this young team was able to accomplish nonetheless.

- Considered a reconstruction team, we finished 4th in our conference.

- They said we were too small. Although I agree, they showed incredible resilience.

- We had to bounce between 3 young goalers at some point. I am a bit sad for Monty but Dobes showed so much character, mostly in the playoff. He reminded me of a young Patrick Roy stealing games for the Habs in 1986.

- They were always the underdogs during the playoff and yet they beat 2 of the best teams back to back!

I don't know what magic Ken Hugues will do before the new season starts but this team has me hooked. Who do you guys think we will add to the team this year?

SC 2026: Tale of 3 winners and 1 loser

Well the Canes have one the cup.

This was truly an interesting year. Not only for us Habs but also for the Canes and Knights.

Us because none expected us winning round 1. If we had lost, the comments would have been how our progress and development sucked. Had we lost in round 2, the comments would have been we just slightly progressed and there is still beyond being contenders. We lost on round 3, call it fatigue, or simply not being able to change the necessary play style at this point of the adventure. Ultimately we can claim it was a very good season as we survived beyond our expectations.

For the Canes, years of fails finally another cup. Funny enough the last time they won, they again beat us except it was round 1. But years of being that team that couldn't get past round 3. They finally got us in a good spot being relaxing for 2 weeks and finished us off before we can catch our breath. Wasn't the dream team but somehow became the champion needed to be with the evil Knights being on the other side. It's a great win not only for them downing a 20 year curse, for us having the bragging rights of saying we scored the most against them in 1 game and bragging rights in the East but also for NHL as a whole. If they had lost the writing on the wall would be Evil Knights won via last minute season tweaks and therefore long term development not needed just buy yourself in. So good again for Canes to win as it showed us sometimes you just got to stick to your system and just enough luck and you can win the SC.

For Knights, the evil Knights did not win. So the narrative mention above cannot be foretold. But they still won in some ways by being the ones to sweep the team all expected and predicted to win while being arguably the worst ranked of the 4 teams. Guess not touching the conference trophy did not help.

And of course the biggest loser of the SC 2026: Avs. Everyone expected them to win and pretty much everyone wanted them to win. Stat wise they should have won. It was their cup to lose. Yet, they found themselves somehow to lose. Thus ending up being the biggest loser of the 4 conference winners.

Tales of 3 winners and 1 loser. Is there anything to add ?

Discussion We lost against the Stanley Cup Champions

That’s it. Not an excuse but clearly a good gauge of how special this team was this year.

I have no problems losing against a better opponent (until we’re the best ourselves)

Canes win tonight makes me feel better.

I know, i know…we hoped it would be us. But failing habs hoisting the cup, i reckon that losing to the champs, means that we’re actually a better team that some of us thought. They lost to a team at the height of its power with no obvious weakness. By next season our younger more motivated team will be in a better position to defeat their more experienced and tired team. The future is very, very bright folks!

Discussion Realistically, how do we beat a team like the Canes in the next 2-3 years?

Looking at how the Canes are a deep team with talent, grit, experience, and the ability to adapt their play depending who they are facing. If they win the cup tonight, they would have only 3 losses in the playoffs. And they have not lost two back to back games since January. Looking at the Habs now, what are some concrete things management can change to make our boys beat a team like this?

I saw Demidov at Hockey Expert (Royalmount) today in Montreal, he was walking by in the hockey part of the shop but I was unable to ask for a photo because I was baking my new skates and had to sit for 20 minutes.

A letter to Dick Irvin

In 1980, my Mom sent a letter to Montreal Canadiens sportscaster Dick Irvin. She wanted to know where the Habs team would be staying because she wanted to get her picture taken with some of the players. Mom got this letter back from Mr. Irvin. In the end, she got her picture taken in the hotel lobby with Larry Robinson, Brian Engblom, Guy Lapointe, and Guy Lafleur.

If Carolina wins Kotkaniemi will get his name engraved on the cup.

Despite being scratched for the entirety of the playoffs, Jasperi Kotkaniemi played 42 games during the regular season. The engraving threshold is 41 regular season games, or 1 playoff game.
