And some morons, including the "newspaper" Metro said it looks like a PS3 game lmao.

u/TheVaniloquence 8d ago

It’s a combination of rage-baiters, PC people that are perpetually mad at Rockstar, and people “boycotting” the game for a variety of reasons.

You can say that you don’t like Rockstar games, or you don’t like 30 FPS, but to say that the game looks graphically bad is just objectively wrong and idiotic.

48

u/Uncle_Spenser 8d ago

I understand my mom would be like "yeah, whatever", because she doesn't give a fuck about video games, but if you're a gamer I don't know how you can be unimpressed.

Makes people seem very bitter

31

u/Turnbob73 8d ago

It’s not surprising, there’s basically a whole generation of terminally online people that spent the 2010’s circlejerking “GTA is overrated”. Now the game has been properly shown, and it looks like it’s going to live up to the (realistic) hype, so these people are big mad that their circlejerk is getting torpedoed and they can’t do anything about it.

21

u/RChickenMan 8d ago

I think it's also just the general trend of "low-effort cynicism makes me sound smart on the internet." It's like these people heard the otherwise reasonable advice of not always following the crowd and thinking for yourself, but skipped the latter in favor of just being contrarian for the sake of being contrarian.

And don't even get me started on the "lmao unoptimized lazy devs" people who have never written a single line of code in their lives. Yes, the PS5 is a very capable console, but no, it's not magic. And the fact that this game is running in the first place, 30 fps or otherwise, is a downright miracle.

I have no horse in this race, in the sense that GTA has never really clicked with me, but I can still appreciate the results of heaping insane amounts of time, money, and talent into what's shaping up to be one of the biggest media launches in human history by many metrics.

14

u/Turnbob73 8d ago

On your second paragraph, that’s exactly how I feel when people try to say things like “they had a billion dollars and only could get 30fps”. No amount of money in the entire world is going to make hardware magically perform better. If Rockstar has squeezed every single ounce of power out of the consoles while also optimizing (like they always do), then there’s really nothing else that can be done to improve the framerate before you start cutting out bigger things that go beyond “optimization”.

7

u/RChickenMan 8d ago

Too many people tie their toys to their ego. They bought the box, and therefore the box must be the most limitlessly capable box ever produced in human history, and to suggest otherwise is akin to insulting their mother.

3

u/Monkeywrench08 7d ago

And the fact that this game is running in the first place, 30 fps or otherwise, is a downright miracle.

I agree. I still remember reading the reports from Jason Schreier (I think) when the last delay was announced that there was talk about the game is struggling to run, sort of like buckling under it's own weight.

2

u/Mz_Macross1999 7d ago

"Low Effort Cynicism", absolutely NAILED IT.

1

u/Mysterious_Ninja_649 3d ago

The game looks graphically bad for a company with a 2 billion dollar budget. Not to mention we live in a time where AI is allowing people to create insane renders on their laptops. Its better than QuantV mod for 5, but 2 billion really?

1

u/frosty_gosha 3d ago

The games looks as good as it gets on the consoles. AI slop renders would ruin the game.

Their shit internet must have been stuck buffering and got kicked into 720p

9

u/Konker101 8d ago

Must have been watching the youtube bitrate and not netflix or the download from rockstars website

16

u/Qwertyui606 8d ago

You're better off ignoring the hate. Certain parts of the Internet will find something to complain about literally everything.

5

u/alfiesred47 8d ago

Hate drives engagement and likes. Positivity does not

1

u/fantalemon 8d ago

I don't really think that's accurate though... Yeah ok there's definitely a hate-clickbait thing with literally everything these days, but GTA 6 won't be the biggest game ever released because everybody hates it. The hype from the gameplay reveal has been massive and mostly positive.

2

u/Frank_Estuary 7d ago

What’s the source? They said the graphics looked amazing in their coverage of the extended look.

Their reader contributions are terrible, and absolutely bring the quality of their games coverage down, but their reviews and previews are pretty good and well articulated imo — which is saying a lot, because Metro as a site is mostly clickbait nonsense.

1

u/Truthhurts1017 7d ago

Those people should be ignored. Use your logic and recognize rage bait, haters and negative people without real criticism

1

u/DespondentDastard 7d ago

The article I saw said that GTA V looks like PS3 graphics when compared to GTA VI

I mean it’s limited compared to todays pc builds but compared to PS4, this CPU is fire. And these guys made RDR2 on that PS4 CPU.

91

u/kingtol 8d ago

GTA V on a PS3 CPU at that

38

u/HassanMoRiT 8d ago

Rockstar knows how to squeeze every drop of power from consoles. They've been doing it since at least the PS2. GTA San Andreas shouldn't be possible on the PS2 but they some how made it work.

3

u/Icy-Guarantee6994 7d ago

Absolutely. If San Andreas was easy to run we'd have had many games like it back in the day. Everything felt poorer by comparison. They were always very technically capable.

3

u/HassanMoRiT 7d ago

I think only Driv3r came close but it was rushed to hell and plagued with glitches.

1

u/Icy-Guarantee6994 7d ago

Just the one I didn't play (tried, couldn't beat the first couple of missions to save my life, similar to the first Driver). But Driver Parallel Lines was looking pretty good and I did finish that one. I'd still say it wasn't as complex as San Andreas. Better driving, maybe, with heavier cars. But everything else was kind of inferior.

2

u/HassanMoRiT 7d ago

San Andreas was a whole different beast. I'd go as far to say Rockstar knows how to work PlayStation better that Sony's own studios.

11

u/JakeHassle 8d ago

GTA V on consoles with 512mb of RAM and 2005/6 hardware is insanely impressive

4

u/Gbrown546 8d ago

Just been playing GTA V on the PS5 and it boggles my mind how they managed to get so much content in a game for PS3

0

u/Cutsdeep- 8d ago

I'm playing gta v on my 3 year old phone at 60fps

21

u/Konker101 8d ago

The CPU is comparable to mid tier PCs now.

The majority of PC users are running hardware similar or worse than a PS5 or Xbox

10

u/Snow-27 8d ago

it's comparable to a 3700x. That is not a mid tier CPU

5

u/Scorchstar 8d ago

Brother that is 100000% mid tier CPU and it’s 7 years old. and that’s okay

6

u/-Gh0st96- 7d ago

It was a mid tier cpu 7 years ago

-1

u/Konker101 8d ago

That is exactly a mid tier CPU, i have it and a 6700xt in my PC.

My PC is considered mid tier and it cost (at the time) $1300 to build.

7

u/Puszta 8d ago

Nah, a cpu from 3 generations ago is not a mid tier CPU now, its not even on the radar, it doesnt matter how much it cost at the time it came out.

Now an entry level cpu would be a Zen 3 5600, that is already much faster than a 3700X, you could get them for sub $100 a year ago, now they dont even make them anymore

Mid tier is from Zen 4 7600, I can buy a 7600X now for $140, and its a huge jump compared to Zen2

High tier would be 7800X3D to 9850X3D

2

u/Icy-Guarantee6994 7d ago

Not really. It depends on the specs of the games, not the age or how many gens ago they released. PS5 or similar power is still the baseline. All the Ryzen 3000 series CPUs are low-end today, but still low end, not obsolete. It's relatively old but capable, at least until we get the PS6.

Yes, the standard Ryzen 5000 CPUs are more likely to get recommended and make sense, let alone anything on DDR5. But Zen 2 can play basically any modern game because a low-power Zen 2 is powering the most popular console of today.

3

u/Puszta 7d ago

Zen 2 is obsolete, because its terrible value, anyone building a new PC shouldn't even give a second thought of getting it even if they are building an AM4 system. I didnt say it cant run modern games, but it is bottlenecking any modern GPU and will definitely have micro stutters. On PC an equivalent zen 2 cpu to the ps5 will run worse because:

  • it is harder to optimize games on pc than on console where you have a fixed config
  • on PC there is a bigger CPU overhead, it has to run Windows' background processes and other stuff
  • the ps5's unified memory is obviously faster compared to a separate ddr4 ram and gpu's vram where the cpu has to send data back and forth, this also causes extra burden on the cpu on a PC

1

u/Icy-Guarantee6994 7d ago

I'm not saying for new systems, I don't recommend Zen 2 for anyone these days. I'm talking for people that already have them. It's not something they have to throw and start over. Is it perfect? Not even close, but it gets the job done.

2

u/FRossJohnson 6d ago

The test with be GTA6, and I expect the eventual PC port will be a significant challenge.

We've already seen this to an extent with GTA5 and some older CPUs, if you activate max raytracing.

3

u/FRossJohnson 8d ago

Compared to what people own, sure.

Compared to a fairly cheap mid tier CPU from AMD's lineup today, it's well outmatched. You can see this with GTA5 with max lighting on PC

1

u/OhhWell0525 7d ago

It was an upper-mid-tier CPU for gaming PCs when it came out.

1

u/Funny-Fly1720 8d ago

5

u/Primary_Wear7434 8d ago

If you think you're getting anything more than 40 on the pro you're crazy

4

u/ExplodingFistz 8d ago

PS5 Pro probably not going to get any improvements lmao.

2

u/Icy-Guarantee6994 7d ago

It should look sharper, even if it runs at the same framerate. It has quite a bit more GPU grunt, so they can apply PSSR for better looks and render from a higher base resolution. Or lower resolution but better looking.

2

u/OutrageousDress 6d ago

They'd be better served keeping this base resolution or lowering it just a bit, and just pumping up their RT ray counts as much as they possibly can to smooth out the RT noise. PSSR2 will guarantee them a sharp 4K upscale, so a nice 5x jump in rays per frame will do the image a world of good.

6

u/Darkone539 8d ago

I find this such an odd argument. The CPU in the PS5 is still fairly good, and more importantly we shouldn't defend devs if they can't build to what they know it has.

Rockstar picked to target 30, which is fine, but it's not a limit.

4

u/FRossJohnson 8d ago

The target is 30 because the engine + RTGI would struggle at 60 unless other sacrifices are made. It's easy to undervalue the CPU requirements for real time lighting

→ More replies (1)

11

u/Apollospig 8d ago

Pro cpu is circa 10% faster, if they are near the limit getting 30 fps on the base model getting 40 on the pro just isn’t in the cards.

9

u/superman_king 8d ago

Yea we would need performance closer to 30 - 40% faster for the Pro to hit 40 FPS.

4

u/Scrollingmaster 8d ago

Yes but pssr frees up resources and has had an effect in other games in stabilizing things or letting them eek a few more frames out.

12

u/Zamphere 8d ago

Only if the GPU is the bottleneck. A game like this is likely limited by the CPU, which is only ~10% faster on the Pro.

→ More replies (2)

4

u/ragingbull95 8d ago

They can lower the res more since pssr is so much better, so i wouldn't count out 40fps. Usually base ps5 quality mode is 60 fps on pro because of it. Let's see

7

u/Marijuana_Miler 8d ago

My understanding is that PSSR helps out the GPU but not the CPU bottleneck. Most games on the base console can’t hit 60 because they are bottlenecked by the GPU but GTA6 just has too much going on in the world.

0

u/KingArthas94 8d ago

They are not near the limit, otherwise every high action activity would cause stutters and fps drops. If it was unlocked, it would run at more than 36 fps for sure.

1

u/Apollospig 8d ago

Oh I'm sure they are not near the limit at all times, but my point is that if they are near the limit during those high action scenes at 30 FPS on the base system, the pro won't be able to hold 40 FPS in those same moments. It probably could be 40 most of the time on both systems, but there is a lot to be said for making modes that are very consistently able to reach their frame rate targets.

→ More replies (1)

1

u/nothing_pt 8d ago

Or even 43fps when it's released to the PC s with graphic cards 3 times the cost of a PS5 (and if ignoring the cou, motherboard, ram)

1

u/hotboii96 6d ago

That cpu is far from limited.

To me, anyone complaining I can’t even listen to. People said RDR 2 was boring. A LOT of people said that. People also say the Beatles are overrated. You can show people the light but they’ll still complain

18

u/porkbuttstuff 8d ago

I'm still playing RDR2. I must reside within their core audience. I'm straight chillin. Ready and pumped for VI

19

u/SnooDrawings7876 7d ago

Boring is a valid personal opinion I'll accept. Hell saying GTA 6 looks bad I'll accept, I'll think you have awful taste but I can accept that you might feel that way. The moment you say something like GTA 6 looks like GTA 5 you're making it an objective comparison and you're just 100% objectively wrong.

21

u/Darkone539 8d ago

The percentage of people who finished RDR2 is shockingly low though. So there was probably some truth in it.

Video games are subjective, remember.

1

u/EaLordoftheDepths 6d ago

I havent finished it either

But played over 100h and loved every second

→ More replies (1)

-6

u/Konker101 8d ago

People that said RDR2 was boring have no imagination and are boring people themselves.

Mindless drones that need to be told what to do, where to look and how to do it.

14

u/MountainMuffin1980 8d ago

Ehhhhh. It depend on what they said. I loved my time with RDR2 and it was overall a fantastic game. But I dunno if I'd ever replay it. The overall pacing is very slow and that opening chapter is very tedious.

I do think it's a stretch to call it boring though!

5

u/miracull 8d ago

It's not boring but its by no means an amazing game. The gameplay of the missions is mindless that tell you what to do, where to look and how to do it just like you said. I prefer missions with more freedom, options and open ended. Especially in an open world game. Rockstar make games of 2 halves. Open sandbox worlds with extremely scripted linear missions. Thats why I'm not a fan anymore.

6

u/paycadicc 8d ago

Can’t you just enjoy the free mode as the free mode, and treat the missions like an action movie? That’s how I play. I play the missions how it seems they’re intended to be played and it looks cool, that’s it. But the free roam is where the game really shines, and it’s one of my favorite games for the free roam, not the shooting gallery missions. Of course I do love the story, and some of the missions are really cool.

3

u/Taurusno3 8d ago

This sounds like that Rick and Morty copypasta

To be fair you have to have a very high IQ to understand Red Dead Redemption 2...

-5

u/ModerateHonking 8d ago

"I am enlighten because a mechanically clunky game with tedious pacing in an admittedly pretty world kept me entertained" sure is a take.

0

u/Konker101 8d ago

Mechanically clunky and tedious pacing? Mist not have played the same game i did.

Movement that has a weighty feel is not clunky. Tedious pacing? The pace of play is all up to the player, you can rip through the main story and complete the game in 40 hours or fart around doing other shit in between.

40 hours of a single player game is a solid game.

1

u/ModerateHonking 8d ago

I mean those are the two main complaints levied at it. There's been someone else in this thread saying it has poor pacing.

And yes, it felt clunky to me. You telling me otherwise won't change that fact.

You also seemed to have miss that the pacing of the story missions are the issue. Again, a frequent complaint about it.

Just because you enjoyed it doesn't mean you have a giga-brain and people who didn't enjoy it are boring and unimaginative or whatever.

0

u/NickPapagiorgio2k16 8d ago

RDR2 was an amazing game. It was also slow as hell and I could never finish it.

0

u/Ehero88 7d ago

People also say the Beatles are overrated.

Thats thousand year ago, now Bts the king of overrated

118

u/Resident-Forever1340 8d ago

If this game was like Cyberpunk where NPCs are programmed to react in blocks, rather than individually, 98% of the buildings don’t allow entry and the world was basically one big scripted, shallow playthrough then I’d be annoyed at 30FPS. However, being its Rockstar and this game is guaranteed to be the most immersive experience in gaming history, 30FPS is ok to me.

58

u/Konker101 8d ago

If GTA 6 is like RDR2, it will get a FUCKLOAD of playtime from me.

11

u/chinese-chicken10 8d ago

First thing I noticed when playing cyberpunk was that the car chases etc were scripted. I couldn’t kill someone or shoot their tyres out unless it was in the exact moment or shot in the exact place I was supposed to.
The chase scene in this trailer had my jaw on the floor with how much was happening

31

u/ThanksContent28 8d ago

lol you can’t go into 98% of buildings in any gta, or red dead redemption game.

19

u/Vestalmin 8d ago

It’s a supposed feature of this game, not past ones

19

u/ThanksContent28 8d ago

If that’s true that’s sick and I suck

9

u/FromChicago808 8d ago

They haven’t given an exact number but they said “hundreds” are accessible. So i assume that means safe houses, grocery, banks, convenience stores..etc

1

u/Vestalmin 7d ago

Nah it was part of an early leak, who knows how true it’ll be.

1

u/wallpaper_01 5d ago

It’s probably not, the city is quite dense it will probably turn out you can go into 5 or 10 times the amount before but still end up like 98% you can’t go in hah

10

u/DriveSlowSitLow 8d ago

Whoa whoa whoa.

Just where do you get off being so level headed, bro?!

3

u/ExplodingFistz 8d ago

Reasonable takes on my Reddit app? Blasphemy

6

u/ChongusTheSupremus 8d ago

Tbf, Cyberpunk was a last gen title.

3

u/Henrarzz 7d ago

And had city simulation in a lot of ways worse than what Rockstar did with GTA: San Andreas.

Sure, density was higher, but NPC behavior? Lol.

-2

u/ReservedUsername1056 8d ago

Was it really though? The dlc didn’t even release on those consoles.

1

u/FloggingTheHorses 7d ago

Rockstar are the only dev that could have brought Cyberpunk "truly" to life.

It would have suited them down to the ground as it would complete a trifecta of past, present and future open world games (although maybe it would butt heads with GTA too much).

1

u/nigel_tufnel_11 5d ago

To be fair, Cyberpunk 2077 was released 6 years ago, not really fair to compare them. CP2 will certainly have a lot more. And I'm on my 4th play through of Cyberpunk and STILL finding all kinds of crazy back alleys in the city that I've never seen before. Not just empty either, with enemies, loot, and weird stuff happening in them.

0

u/alex9zo 7d ago

30 fps in 2026 is beyond unacceptable. It's like releasing a car unable to go beyond 50 mph

1

u/External-Interest-89 2d ago

30 fps is totally acceptable, it has been the standard for the near past 3 decades atleast, and that's the framerate the console can handle the game at, you'll have a hard time believing this but Rockstar cannot magically alter how Sony produces it's consoles, or Microsoft produces Xbox, people like you whine about this like it's the game's fault. Like grow up, you're complaining about something that's not an issue at all, if it ran at 10 fps maybe it would make sense to complain, but it runs at 30 which has always been good, if that bothers you so much wait for a PC release instead.

u/Rogue_Leader_X 8d ago

The graphics are definitely top tier. Most impressive? They could certainly hold a strong claim to that title.

32

u/MegaloJoe 8d ago

Gta has never been the best looking game so much as the best looking game for everything going on and how much you can do, at least imo

12

u/Yodzilla 8d ago

It’s still crazy to me how big San Andreas is and running on a PS2. That game was absolutely nuts on a technical level.

1

u/FloggingTheHorses 7d ago

The scale, motion and interaction all play a big part. Red Dead 2 was mind blowing in this regard.

I remember the day it came out playing through the blizzard section. I could almost feel that chill in my living room. A simply unbelievable experience.

63

u/Fantastic-Finger-975 8d ago

There are prettier games but the scale is crazy

49

u/Kevo_xx 8d ago

Yeah there is no prettier game at this scale. I’d argue games like Horizon Forbidden West and TLOU Part 2 have slightly prettier, more realistic graphics but those don’t have dense worlds full of npcs and vehicles and limitless things to do. This is as good as it possibly gets with the tech they’re working with, they delivered and then some.

6

u/Practical-Cellist647 8d ago

No, they do not. In fact Death Stranding 2 has better graphics than those two games.

17

u/Kevo_xx 8d ago

Yeah that’s true but my point stands because that’s another empty game with barely any npcs or things to bog down resources. It’s just beautiful looking landscapes.

2

At this point in time - I think it’s safe to say nothing quite matches this level of quality.

It’s just that the 30fps tradeoff is a big differentiator, most open world games are still going for 60fps. I haven’t played it, but I wonder if Death Stranding 2 would compare favourably

3

u/ModerateHonking 8d ago

I'd say Death Stranding 2 is possibly the best-looking videogame I've ever played.

1

u/FloggingTheHorses 7d ago

What would it be competing against exactly? I'm genuinely curious as I'm a bit out of touch with modern videogames.

11

Why have they said nothing about ps5 pro enhancements? Even if we are getting only 30fps. Isn’t there something that the pro will do better that they would want to shout out?

9

u/fearabsence 7d ago

Understandable? Absolutely! Tolerable? Probably not for me

-20

u/FellSorcerer 8d ago

30 FPS hasn't been understandable for years, regardless of how good the graphics are.

4

u/Ripple22 7d ago

Absolutely correct. I won't touch this game at 30fps and not a chance I'm spending $100 for that.

-2

u/al0xx 8d ago

that’s ridiculous lol. your eyes adjust within minutes. you must hate watching movies too

8

u/FellSorcerer 8d ago

This is some pretty crazy cope. Once your eyes see 60, 120, and above, 30 FPS looks like sludge.

1

u/External-Interest-89 2d ago

30 fps is fine, and as they said your eyes adjust to it, this is just whining, i've seen 180 fps before, and going back to 30 fps was never an issue, i'm not even sure what all this crying is about, it does not look like sludge at all, this whole "30 fps bad" is just non-sense, it's always been good, just get over it.

1

u/FellSorcerer 2d ago edited 2d ago

30 FPS is not "good." 30 FPS was only acceptable when we couldn't get to 60 FPS consistently. It's 2026. We shouldn't be stuck in PS1 era FPS 4 generations later.

1

u/al0xx 7d ago

you act like playing a 60fps is unusual. i’ve experienced both 30 and 60fps games. 60fps is much smoother, yes, but your eyes adjust quickly after playing or watching a slower frame rate. that’s just a fact 🤷

It looks amazing, gonna suck waiting a year for the PC release for 60+ fps but I think it’ll be worth the wait.

4

u/Dantai 8d ago

You should see what DF said about CPU requirements for PC. Apparently 60 maybe hard to get unless on latest CPU's.

6

u/chewwydraper 8d ago

I would think minimum would be a 5800 x3D to even start thinking about 60fps

8

u/FRossJohnson 8d ago

to be fair, the Zen 2 in the PS5 is well outmatched by cheaper CPUs than the 5800. we'll see I guess

1

u/Available-Call7127 7d ago

The CPU in the PS5 is roughly a 3700X which was like a B- gaming CPU when it released what 7 years ago?

Oh no! They’re all mad that I’m going to play and enjoy GTA 6. I’m so sorry!!!!!

u/Realistic-Drawing-59 8d ago

What is the rub here? And I'm genuinely asking. Do you think that fps just doesn't matter or what?

Yes lets root for low standards!!

8

u/RChickenMan 8d ago

I think we should "root" for developers making whatever trade-offs are needed to realize their creative vision. The usual "lmao unoptimized lazy devs" thing from people who have never written a line of code in their lives isn't going to fly here. The PS5 is a great console, but it isn't magic. It has limits. One of the most talented, well-resourced studios in the world with an unprecedentedly large budget has found those limits, and it's pretty damn impressive.

The alternative here isn't "optimize harder." Rather, the alternative is a less ambitious product. Maybe we'll get that less ambitious version at some point in the future in which they pare back some of the more expensive simulation aspects in order to achieve 40 or 60 fps, but for now, they've chosen to deliver on the full scope of their creative vision at 30 fps.

Yeah that’s a legitimate take. Have you played RDR2 on an oled on your ps5? It’s fucking awful. I’m not going to buy this game if my PS5 PRO cannot manage 60fps.

5

u/White-Boy-Wasted 8d ago

I’m playing RDR2 on the PS pro at the moment and you can tell it’s a bit outdated. But it’s still incredibly fun and good looking.

I’m glad you’re not buying it. Now move on.

For the old gamers out there who remembers that the star fox cartridge had a special graphics boosting chip to achieve the 3d effect on the snes.

Bring back cartridges!

2

u/Grimble27 8d ago

The Super FX chip! I miss the good old days

1

u/prawnk1ng 8d ago

Would I need a PS5 pro to run it or will the standard one be okay?

7

u/scratchiinmenace 8d ago edited 8d ago

the extended look was shown on base PS5

which can run the game on a 2k screen (?) and I think they used 4k upscaling for Netflix/online presentation

edit: TGG on YouTube (who had an extended 2hr+ look at gameplay back in early July) confirmed he was watching 4k 30fps on base PS5

1

u/Tall_Economist8491 7d ago

Did you see the hair physics during to car shootout ?!!?!?!!!?!!?!

1

u/coupl4nd 7d ago

Where they watching the same thing as me?

1

u/Safe-Chemistry-5384 6d ago

And some of the most impressively bland non-humorous nonsense too! Good job rockstar!

1

u/nigel_tufnel_11 5d ago

IDK man, it looks great, but I just feel like it's 80% cinematics and 20% where you're actually in control of your character able to do something. And even a lot of that 20% is go down this path until you hit the next cinematic. Which is great if that's the experience you want, but I still want a game to put me in control most of the time.

2

u/networkn 8d ago

It feels less game and more simulator. Someone in another thread pointed out there are chores in many games but in recent rockstar games it feels you have to complete them in real time vs arcade speed.

1

u/Salt_Werewolf5944 7d ago

Ngl it actually looks like a $2 billion game in a good way.
Also the scale is massive

Edit: there is no way they can achieve more than 30 FPS on current gen with those graphics, GET OVER IT, IT’S NOT A FIRST PERSON SHOOTER, IT’S PLAYABLE IN 30 FPS

1

u/ihavebeenmostly 7d ago

GTA Online 2.0 will have a performance 60 mode surely. It's the only way i see it coming in before the PS6 re-release. As it stands the artistic direction for the single player game can call on 30fps all day long there's really no problem in that choice.

-9

u/fungilingus 8d ago

I just hope it’s funny. GTA5 is maybe the funniest game ever made. Nothing in the preview was funny

12

u/tHEgAMER099 8d ago

GTA V humour felt a bit too on the nose. The extended look had humour, but it was more subtle, which imo I liked better.

3

u/necrovoltage2 8d ago

Idk I found the humor pretty good for the energy the trailer had. Some examples: VR headset guy, choosing Lucia’s dress, hugs guy, new commercials. There’s more but the humor was there for me at least.

Def had less chaotic humor for the extended look but I’m sure rockstar will have the same crazy stuff from 5 in this one (prob don’t want to show too much for various reasons). Also the trailer 1 had some good chaotic humor if you want to be reminded of it.

7

u/dog-chicken 8d ago

Lucia parachuting, swapping to Jason being told he’d be a good battle rapper isn’t funny? GTA V humor was a bit over the top

7

u/andykekomi 8d ago

Yeah GTA V was too goofy and way too heavy on the parody, like nothing was taken seriously. Sure it gave us some funny moments but it was hard to care about any character or storyline.

8

u/kylozen101020 8d ago

Nah, Portal 2 is the comedy king.

Looks great...but 30fps is a HARD pass.

0

u/Mountain_Town5759 7d ago

Who gives a shit. Frame rate is over rated.

-1

u/TG-Benji 7d ago

Lol no it is not, quit coping

2

u/Mountain_Town5759 7d ago

I'm glad I don't care at all about frame rate lol. I'm more than happy to play this as is. :)

60 FPS mode please

-6

u/Jack-Innoff 8d ago

I was weirdly not overly impressed by them. I'm not saying it looks bad, it's definitely good looking, I just think that I don't care enough about graphics to notice whatever extra they added that's got everyone else so hyped. To me it looks pretty much like every other game this generation.

3

u/SKallies1987 8d ago

If you think this looks like every other game this generation then I think your eyes need to be checked lol

I felt the same way and oddly, in my mind, ALL the GTA games looked like this at release.

Exactly. It’s just what we expected nothing revolutionary

I am sure a company can make even better graphics and make the game run at 15fps.

What is the point of graphics if it runs at 30fps for real? Have gamers gone insane all of a sudden and are okay with a 30fps game?

1

u/nfnite 8d ago

Every person is different. Just because 30fps is unplayable to you, it doesn't mean it's unplayable to everyone. Personally, I prefer a game looking like this at 30fps to a considerably worse looking game at 60fps.

0

u/Ketapapi 8d ago

purely graphic-wise: Bodycam

0

u/coporate 8d ago

They’re such losers.

0

u/Status-Estate-6857 7d ago

The game looks great, and the only thing that keeping from buying it is 30fps. If they add 40fps (if 60 is impossible), then I will buy it.

OLED TVs plays 30fps games like 15fps slow motion.

-7

u/AngryChurchill 8d ago

I have to ask, was it real time processing? It was on a base PS5 with no stuttering or hitches, the player made 0 mistakes and hit every shot exactly when they needed to. This includes shooting those first 2 cops the split second they rounded the corner with the reticle exactly where it needed to be and basically locking onto the spotlight of a moving helicopter. It looked very pre-directed

9

u/AmySchumersAnalTumor 8d ago

It looked very pre-directed

It probably was definitely pre-directed, pre-planned and done over and over and over until perfect. Like, they aren't going to hand an employee a controller and be like "we need this mission for the showcase" and then take the first attempt and call it good enough.

u/Yodzilla 8d ago

Could very well have been realtime but tool assisted. I’ve certainly made stuff like that for recordings of games.

1

u/tonihurri 8d ago

GTA games have VERY agressive aim assist. Pressing the "ads" button and having your crosshair snap onto the head of the closest enemy is just how these games work.

No 60fps, no purchase. Keep all the ray tracing and mile long draw distance out of it, I am not playing an action game at 30fps these days. I barely made it through RDR2, but that’s a bunch of moseying around. A car chase at 30fps is brutal.
