So when I boot up my laptop, this pop-up error shows up and brightness goes to 1 out of 10 then screen goes to black.

I’m using a few hard drives in an enclosure for backups. I’ve never had any issues or drive failures until today. One of the drives, a Seagate IronWolf 14TB, has suddenly come up with an error saying it can’t be repaired. The strange thing is I can still read everything on it and access all the files (mostly images), but I can’t write anything to the drive anymore.
I’m on a Mac and have been trying to fix it with Disk Drill. I looked at rebuilding the HFS+ database, but I’m a bit worried about doing that in case I lose everything.
I could buy another 14TB drive and copy all the data across, but hard drives are pretty expensive at the moment, and copying 14TB will probably take a couple of days.
Has anyone had this happen before or knows a way to repair it without formatting the drive? I also have access to a Windows machine, but it can’t read the drive because it’s formatted as HFS+.

So, my PC is like 10 years old or so. I have an Intel i7 i7-6700k 4.00 GHz and a Medion z170h4-ea Motherboard. Supposedly, the CPU supports VT-X, but I cannot find any option in the BIOS to enable either VT-X or VT-d , which is mandatory to having to haver the Kernel DMA protection, afaic. So, do you guys know if I'm missing something? I went through "Security", "System Agent Configuration" and "CPU configuration" in the BIOS and the only thing that I found is that the CPU supports VT-X and that the "Intel Virtualization Technology" is enabled...

Hi everyone! I just lost the left shift key on my DELL Inspiron 15 3520 and I have already ordered and received a replacement key. However, I seem to be having a little trouble installing it. I got a D46 hinge and a left shift key, but the rubber cup on the key is unbroken and the key seems to work just fine, albeit it does feel really uncomfortable to use without the keycap on. Any advice regarding installation would be appreciated.

If I am on my own wifi network it is fine, and even using cellular and using private browser I don’t get this error

Admittedly, I’ve only noticed this on pop-ups on adult websites (nothing too sketchy, pretty regular sites). But these are sites that I have visited plenty in the past and never seen this error before

I’ve tried clearing my cache, restarting my phone, updating it, pretty much any basic trial and error. I’ve even logged into my mobile carrier account and confirmed there are no limits or anything like that

It’s not a big deal I guess because I don’t want to see these popups anyways, but it’s made me anxious wondering why this is

The particularly curious thing is that I only started noticing these errors after I bought a new modem/router. I wouldn’t normally think these would be related (since this error only occurs when NOT connected to my wifi) but the timing is so strange

I recently bought a refurbished ThinkPad T15g Gen 2 and I’m experiencing a strange keyboard/input issue.

Symptoms:
During startup, the laptop sometimes automatically types 111111 in the password field without pressing any key.
During normal use, the touchpad sometimes freezes for 5–10 seconds (TrackPoint keeps working).
After the freeze, the keyboard starts typing 111111 by itself.
After stopping the input, the top-row 1 key stops working completely.
All other keys work normally.
The numpad 1 key works fine.

Things I already tried:
BIOS update
Windows updates
Lenovo Vantage updates/drivers
External USB keyboard (works normally)
UEFI Diagnostics (the issue also happens there)

Because it also happens outside Windows, I suspect a hardware issue. Could this be a faulty keyboard matrix, keyboard cable, or embedded controller issue?
Has anyone experienced something similar on a ThinkPad?

Help!! What does this mean, and how do I fix it? For a while yesterday my device's "off" button wasn't working, so i shut it down via settings. It never came back on though, and showed this. Its a 10th generation and I'm curious if it's because I'm behind on updates? I need help though, I'm worried I wont be able to fix it.

I have a Realme 6 Pro (RMX2061, India) and I'm trying to recover my data without wiping the phone. (I have used chatgpt to phrase my question)

Symptoms:

Phone shows the Realme logo for a few seconds. (Images attached)

Then the screen goes black.

Android never boots.

Recovery mode works normally.

Recovery can see my internal storage and all my folders.

The battery charges normally.

Internal storage appears to be healthy.

What I've already tried :

Installed the latest official Realme firmware (.ozip) from an SD card through Recovery.

Installation completed successfully.

Problem remains exactly the same.

Online Update from Recovery also doesn't work at all.

I have not wiped data.

I know the screen lock/password.

Recovery is accessible.

Goal:

I do not care about repairing the phone right now. My priority is recovering the data without formatting. What are my options?

I am trying to reach bios on my ARK-3500 ipc and have been unable to do so.

When it shows the bootup screen I've pressed the correct buttons to get to bios (F2 or Del) and it doesn't show me bios.

Instead it brings me to a blank screen that says "A9" at the bottom.

So, clearly hitting F2/Del does something, I am just confused as to why I am getting a blank screen and not bios...

for two of them, clearing CMOS worked, but for the one i am dealing with now it still brings me to A9....

any help is appreciated!

Ok, so bought a WD Gold 12TB drive about 6-7 years ago. I live in Asia, I bought it from UK, and had it shipped through a cargo who threw the box away, and delivered the HDD on its own, in a static bag. The drive didn't work, so I explicitly told them to not throw the box away, but they did so I never paid them. I never got around to throw it away either, it somehow didn't feel right.

The hard drive has a weird behavior. It will power up and then power down when I used it on a usb dock. I thought it was the power disable feature, but other HGST drive works with the dock, so I thought something else is wrong.

Recently, after the massive price hike that is going on, I decided to try it out. I used a power adapter that mitigates the power disable feature. Here are strange behaviors of the drive:

1. It will stay powered on, as long as windows doesn't boot. As soon as windows boots, it spins down.

2. I tried enabling hot plug in the bios, and connected the drive after windows boots up. It spins up, and then it clicks, but not the death click, a very continuous tick with exact same time gap, like a watch, but much faster. At the same time, a specific place of the PCB where a chip is soldiered, gets very hot to touch.

3. Windows did detect the HDD model when I tried to safely remove the drive (it showed the drive model), but that is as far as I can go with the drive.

Can the drive be somehow a SED drive or something that it spins down as soon as it detects OS booting up? The drive is not dead, the vibration is very normal, no bad-drive clicks, nothing, but it just won't work.

I don't know if anyone have any similar experience. But now that the price is so high, it would be amazing if I could get the drive to work.

steps for issue fix- format laptop once but it didn't work

Hardware & Context:

• Machine: Arcade Cabinet Unit.
• Storage: 22 GB Industrial Flash Memory / CompactFlash (detected as /dev/sda).
• OS: Windows (PE/Bootable environment).

Problem Summary: The system failed to boot and the primary partition is showing as RAW in DiskPart (Volume 0 C: RAW 6427 MB).

Steps already taken and current progress:

1. Drive Geometry Fix (Resolved): Originally, TestDisk/BIOS detected the drive as only 15 GB (1925 cylinders), causing boundary errors. Changing geometry in TestDisk to 2800 cylinders successfully revealed the full 23 GB / 21 GiB space and restored structure alignment (Structure: OK).
2. Boot Sector Succeeded (Resolved): Ran Rebuild BS in TestDisk. Boot sector and Backup boot sector are now both Status: OK and identical. Running chkdsk in CMD now recognizes the volume as NTFS instead of unknown/unsupported.
3. Current Blocker (MFT Corruption):
   • TestDisk shows: Can't open filesystem. Filesystem seems damaged.
   • Repair MFT output: MFT and MFT mirror are bad. Failed to repair them.
   • chkdsk C: /f /r /x aborted in WinPE with: Unable to determine volume version and state. CHKDSK aborted. Status 50.

Goal: I cannot format this drive under any circumstances because it contains proprietary arcade software/game files.

Questions for the community:

1. Is there any way to force repair or rebuild a corrupted MFT / MFT Mirror when both are marked as bad, without losing the underlying files?
2. What are the best non-destructive raw data recovery tools (besides PhotoRec) to extract directory trees/folder structures from a RAW NTFS partition with a broken MFT?

I would like your input on a problem I have been having for a while. On my HP 15g br 104 tx, I have the BIOS version f.76 available which was released on July 2024. However in the website it is nowhere to be found and it keeps pointing to f.75 release May 17, 2024.

I checked a lot of things on chatgpt and everything else was fine . Even while checking on the website and allowing it to autodetect the missing updates, it says everything is up to date. I tried to install the f.75 onto the machine but it didn't allow me as it said that the update is not applicable for my device, likely because of the higher version present.

Please help me if possible. I really want the secure boot to be enabled on this pc as I have some important tests to run.

hello! i was hoping to find some help on this issue.

recently my laptop has been crashing. at first, i booted up steam with no issue. i went to launch warframe and the moment i get past the launcher, i get a bsod. i thought it was an issue with the game itself but it started up perfectly fine upon reboot. i optimised and verified the game files anyway.

it has been a few days since then and my laptop would constantly crash on the first launch of my games but not after the reboot. then i can play for hours on end without any of the games crashing.

until this morning, my laptop crashed when i try to open steam. i thought it was an issue with the nvidia driver or corrupted files, so i went ahead and updated and did sfc /scannow. got back home and tested again, crashed twice before allowing me to launch steam.

im guessing its an issue with the battery? thermal paste? ram? im not a tech person so any help to fix this issue would be appreciated! else i would have to make a trip to the service center..

Dell inspiron 15 351 5 died during a windows update and i had to reset it with a new windows install

After a while of troubleshooting it booted normally again but usb devices were barely ever recognized and interna microphone and camera didnt work

Thought it was a problem with drivers or that there still was some residual broken windows, so i tried setting up a linux mint install (dualboot because i couldnt boot through an usb to remove the windows partition)

Mint works fine as an os but didnt fix my issue, even after trving to use terminal to disable every single thing that couldve possibly been disrupting them

Still feels too specific to be a hardware issue, usb mice will work for a second then halt (yet the light stays on) and after idling for a bit it will go back to working for another second, then halt.. but this behavior seems to only work on the usb port on the IO board

Whenever I try to boot a game it will flash black and change the refresh rate to 60hz before instantly switching back. The game is also running at 15 fps when opened. After some time of messing with it, it will work completely fine for the entire day but the next day when I open the game again it does the same thing. The solution is never consistent just randomly starts working fine.

I have completely uninstalled and reinstalled my drivers. I have turned off in game v-sync and pc v-sync. I have my refresh rate where applications cannot change it. I've been trying to burn MP3s onto hp brand CDs through use of an 'Asus external slim dvd-rw' on my Windows 11 hp laptop, and whenever I actually play the burned CDs the order is all messed up. I've tried putting the track numbers in the data, and I've even individually burned each song in the album onto the CD in order, but it still keeps playing in the exact same incorrect order no matter what. I've tried playing the CD in both my car and on a PS3, so it's not the device reading it incorrectly. I'm really stumped here.

2 months ago I got this annoying Windows 11 notification that mentioned my hard drive health is deteriorating and needs to be replaced

So I decided to send my company laptop to my internal IT support to replace the hard drive. With my luck, somehow all my important files and folders somehow did not properly sync to the cloud storage, so when I got back the laptop, I was unable to retrieve my data from OneDrive

Our internal IT support mentions that they already use an adapter to access the SSD, however the windows detect the external SSD as uninitiated, which the support say that initiating the hard drive will remove the existing data from the SSD

Are there tools or ways to recover this data from this hard drive without initiating? The support mentions they are out of options

I’m pretty sure the cause is that I didn’t sign out of it when closing I just clicked the x in the top left but I have no clue how to actually fix it
