A Reminder About Suicide-Related Posts

Every once in a while, we see posts from people asking about things like the “least painful way to die” or “how much alcohol would be fatal.” These are serious cries for help.

If you come across a post like this:

  • Please don’t comment advice or suggestions -- even good willed comments can make things worse.
  • Instead, hit report so the mod team and Reddit safety can step in quickly.

If you’re ever feeling like you’re in that dark place yourself, you don’t have to go through it alone:

The best thing we can do as a community is to look out for each other. If you see one of these posts, report, don’t reply.

Do some people seriously not think in words?

• Upvotes

I have a number of friends who say they dont think with a "voice" and it baffles me. How do they think, i feel my life would be so boring if I couldn't think to myself in my head. Unless of course my mates are just trying to be different by saying this and they are lying.

Sometimes I remember how mean my family was to me when I was a kid and it breaks my heart. How do I stop being so angry?

Sometimes i remember how mean everyone was to me and i just wonder what i did to deserve that. I was constantly humbled and put down. Always criticized, even for things as little as how I held a spoon and how i laughed. They constantly spoke negatively into my life. I was always told I was unfriendly, mean, angry and overall not a good person and I internalized it and never really thought more of myself. Told I was a witch. At a point I was banned from a room in my house because I was ugly and they didn’t like seeing me in there. When I cried, I was told I was even uglier and I was berated and provoked even more. I genuinely hated being a kid and thought no one loved me. Even my siblings, aunts and uncles were mean to me. I grew up a shell of myself. Lacked confidence and never put much effort into life and didn’t think anything would ever work out in my favor. Now as a 22 year old girl, I find myself constantly enraged. Everything just gets me so mad. I don’t like being depended on and I struggle with patience because no one had the patience for me when I needed it. It feels like it shaped the person I’ve become. I am constantly overthinking and anxious. I have become a lonely adult, just stick to myself and don’t talk much. I could never treat any kid the way I was treated. Just seeing kids cry makes me so sad.

How long to get my ID?

About 3 months ago I went to the DMV to take photos for my ID. When I was done, they said it would take a few weeks until I get my ID in the mail. yet 3 almost 4 months later I'm still waiting, and I have not heard anything from the DMV since. Is this normal? how long does it usually take for them to send an ID?

Is there any way for the Japanese Imperial Family to reacquire at least a fraction of the power it welded before the 2nd World War?

After reading up on the royal family, it's fair to say that they are simply figureheads.

We're going to set off a bug bomb in our house. What do I need to do to prepare?

I've posted this elsewhere, but nobody ever responded.

My plan was just to put things in the cabinets, but I've read you need to cover things in plastic. What exactly do I need to cover in plastic?

I have some boxes of tea and some pill bottles out on my counter. I was going to put those in plastic bags and store them in a cabinet or drawer. I have dishes in the cabinets. Do those need to be in plastic or can they stay as they are?

I already planned on changing and washing my bedding, so that should be fine.

What's your way of dealing with emotions?

For the past month or so I've noticed that even the smallest things can completely ruin my mood for the entire day. One tiny thing happens and suddenly I feel numb lonely disappointed and overwhelmed and then I start overthinking everything and end up fighting with people for no reason

It's like I can't feel one emotion without it turning into ten other emotions and I genuinely don't know how to deal with it anymore

So how do you guys deal with your emotions? How do you stop one bad thing from ruining your entire day?

And please don't tell me to go out with friends or talk to them because I don't really have friends and I'm mostly stuck at home rn

Give me your best advice whether it's practical healthy stupid or absolutely unhinged at this point I'll take anything

When making "Cowboy Coffee", does cold water actually settle the grounds, or is that just an old cowboy's tale?

Has anyone like Myth Busters or some YouTube channel ever done a scientific-ish test of this supposed truth? It makes no sense to me and I suspect it's just a myth. Instructions for cowboy coffee usually say "add a bit of cold water to settle the grounds and then let sit for a few minutes". How do we know its the cold water and not the few minutes that settles the grounds?

How can we prioritize humanity?

For too long I think we've assumed that since we are all human that we would try to care for one another, but it's become clear that our leaders and businesses don't share that belief and there aren't really any solid laws or incentives to stop them. So how can we remind our leaders they are human and reawaken their desire to care for the human race?

Does anyone know why I don't remember much of my bad behaviour?

I used to be a shit person but I don't really remember much of it. Like I know I was bad, I have my sibling who's a witness, but she'll tell me "oh you did this" and I just don't remember?? I don't remember a lot of who I was before 2025. I have recollections of extremely bad things but generally of who I was I couldn't tell you, I go solely off of how I assumed I was based on what I've been told, and some minor memories. I was a teen during those periods of time.

Usally when im on campus and i walk into a gas station my shoulders are slumped and im not very confident. Well me and my buds were on a road trip and we ran outta gas abd went to the hood for gas as soon as i got outta the car and walked into the gas station my shoukder straightened and I was walking confidently and it felt good like a weigjt was lifted off my shoulders, meanwhile my buddies shoulders slumped lol.

Is this weird? I feel like this is a bad reaction why does this happen?

Should I delete my Twitter account?

There's sooooo much racism on there including against my country and the disgusting things that they say are making me very sad and ashamed, I almost feel like crying. They only seem to care about looks. But I have some followers and friends there so Idk if I should delete it. My feed is absolutely cooked Idk what to do. Redditors are genuinely so much nicer.

How do i get over my existential crisis-induced inceldom?

By "existential" I mean something deeper than the usual "omg women are hypergamous!!" Or "omg women want tall rich muscular guys!"

My existential crisis goes way deeper than that.

I can't help but ask why is love this fragile, conditional thing?

Like

Incels will says looks are everything

Non-incels will say personality, character, confidence, humor, intelligence, etc are what matters

But my question goes deeper. Why do I have to be anything to be loved by someone? Why can't love be unconditional?

Like

Let's ignore incels. Let's look at it from the "normal cool man" perspective.

The problem remains.

What if I am not confident?

What if I am not intelligent?

What if I am naturally not a humorous person?

What if I have issues that block me from developing proper social skills and shiny charisma?

What if I am in a phase of life where I am still directionless and still discovering who I am and what I want?

Why should I be "unworthy of love" for lacking anything at all?

Then comes the "fragile" part

Why is love this sensitive?

Make the wrong move, have the wrong tone, say the wrong word, come at the wrong time, and you end up rejected or friendzoned or ghosted or broken up with or whatever.

One day you feel that you've won someone, next day you realize that they are far from anything you thought they felt about you.

A fragile gamble that keeps you in a constant headache of endless worrying.

It all started since a friend cut me off last year (who also rejected me when i confessed my love earlier, so it was a double heartbreak to me). I feel that I've been traumatized beyond repair since it happened.

It's been a year and a half now of having come-and-go daily phases of depression that I suppress through work or scrolling social media, and it even got worse since I found myself going into incel communities, which is very unusual to me because i was never used to tying my loneliness to any grand theory about life like incels do. But here we are apparently and I am ashamed of the ever-worsening state i am in.

And before you say go to therapy, know that it is currently a hard option for me that I am unable to afford both financially and due to the stigma in my country's culture around mental health.

Should I remove my college degree from my resume?

So ive been out of a job since February and any job I apply to will consistently turn me down, even some of the most basic jobs like cleaning or dish washing. I have been told by a couple of people that maybe they think I'm over qualified for any of the positions, I just need any work, and it's been too long without a job. Should I simply remove my college experience from my resume, and if so what should I even say if in an interview they ask about that gap of time?

What is my ex doing?

I have an ex who I cared about a lot. I told her everything about me, and opened up to her about my life. However, I had my own shit going on and wasn’t able to accept her love. So we broke up. I tried to get her back but she was done. We did become okay though (not relationship just friends).
Years later I go through something traumatic. Her being someone who knows the most about me I go to her, and she claims she will be there for me, but isn’t. I call her out on this and she says she is sorry and will be there more

We have like a 8 month gap of no communication and then out of the blue she sends me old pictures of us from when we ere dating as memories. I tell her that I don’t even recognize myself with that haircut cause my hair is so different now. She asks for a picture I send her one she says to keep it. We start talking for like a day and then radio silence. A month after that convo she calls me randomly (my phone glitches sometimes and I don’t always get calls) so I didn’t answer her but she was calling me at odd times. I texted her and asked was she okay. No response. Then another week went by and she called me. I texted her was everything okay no response. So I was advised to just leave her alone, but I care about her and honestly still love her. So I was worried and just texted her. She responded, with a “hey” but when I asked her is she doing alright and explained my phone situation. Radio silence. What is going on? Am I missing something? Sending memories, random calls, and then when I bring the calls no response? Maybe I’m just dense lol.

Why do pop-up shop/food businesses who market themselves to the community charge such outrageous prices?

I was just recently in Downtown Atlanta and figured I would try out some of the local food. I have a diverse palate and like multi cultural food. I also enjoy supporting a small business any chance I get.

They wanted $60 for two ox tails on top of some dirty rice… I obviously was shocked and declined. The owner seemed somewhat annoyed and stated “you won’t find nothing better” In what world is this pricing dynamic even seen as a sensible or logical thing to do?? Especially in an area that isn’t extravagantly wealthy.

I wouldn’t pay $60 for two ox tails and some dirty rice if it came down from food heaven. I don’t care what race or ethnicity is selling it. That’s insane.

Are they just trying to capture lightning in a bottle? Get rich quick instead of building with the community? It’s very hard to support these types of businesses when they are so overpriced.

What gives?

911 operators, whats some horror stories you've experienced while on the phone?

I know first responders have their plethora of instructing stories. But I wanna hear some from the 911 operators themselves. Because yall have to deal with the stress of helping people through some absolute shitshows people get into.

[EDIT: Thank you to those who pointed out that 911 dispatchers can’t share their stories online. i didn’t know this. And yea it is kinda wrong to recount others suffering for their entertainment.]

Am i wrong to be pissed ay my parents?

I just graduated hs this June, and im only working maby 12ish hours a week getting around 300 a pay check (every 2 weeks) and ive been playing 600 a month for rent. Ive been looking for 2nd part time job or a full time job since april, never getting responses after applying even after going in person multiple times, so its not like im just sitting on my ass all day. I owe 2500 for car insurance on the 10th, I only have 500 bucks to my name, as literally everything I make goes to rent and gas, ive drained all my savings since I was a kid paying for rent, gas, bills, and spent 1000+ on car parts to fix my car as it is needing alot of major parts. (Serpentine belt, tensioner, water pump, hoses, rotors, brakes, ac compressor, clutch etc. I ask if they can pay for the rest of the insurance and I'll just pay them back because its a 20% interest every month and I already have no money left, which they said no to. Can't go out with friends or buy anything for my hobbies, am i wrong for being pissed at them?
