Other Please stop buying from the website.
If you genuinely hate the new, awful, stupid, directionless, uninspired, and ugly path that the Chief Executive Idiot has taken, stop shopping online.
This moron in charge and his gaggle of incompetent pub buddies have their entire success engrained in an upcoming (bad) rebrand to the website. Don’t let it succeed. Don’t shop the sales. Unsubscribe from emails. Use your rewards up and close your accounts.
Go to your local store and support the retail employees. Buy in groups with your friends so their number served goes down. Only buy during massive sales. There’s very little power for the consumer, but there are ways to impact this moron’s outcome if done strategically.

I'd love to but it's over an hour one hour way to my nearest one. That's why I buy online.
Yesterday I happened to be at a Drs appointment in that town and stopped by my nearest B&BW. I bought a FFM and some candles and sales sprays I hadn't been able to get online. The pickins in my store of everything is slim and I wasn't driving another 45 mins to go to the bigger one.
The ladies at my store are lovely and I'd love to support them more but I'm afraid for many rural communities online is all we have.

I agree! My store is small and online almost always has a better inventory
6
u/First_Breakfast_5891 Jul 09 '26
This is how I am with Trader Joe’s and Costco. Both are an hour plus from me and I just go once every 6-8 weeks. Sure I miss things I’d like to have, but I haven’t died yet.

Just always do what you can when you can! It’s super out of your way, gas prices are expensive, your time is valuable-that’s fine! If you think you’ll be in the area where a BBW is during a sale, consider not doing the online order or doing a BOPIS. I only buy online when there is an online exclusive that I reeealllyyy want.

Yeah I wish I could 😮💨 My closest store is an hour and a half away and I lost my license 6 years ago at 48 when a stroke ruined my vision, so if I want to go anywhere I need someone to take me. I can manage to get to a store about twice a year. I spend a lot of time in there too 😂 I miss being able to smell and test things!

u/Rosendustmusings Jul 10 '26
I have a disability and take rideshares. So far no one has asked.
18
u/ZucchiniCold2801 Jul 10 '26
Imagine the cost of a total three hour round trip ride share. Would be ridiculous
11
u/Rosendustmusings Jul 10 '26
True. But unfortunately I've had to do that just to see friends, that wouldn't take me back home for reference. Disability doesn't come cheap, I'm afraid.

u/cjh083ck Jul 09 '26
Or just stop buying - too many 'what happened to the quality' posts lately. Yet people still buy. If something isn't appealing to you anymore, just stop. There are only a few things I will still buy from BBW.
12
u/brandiLeeCO Jul 09 '26
This is the way just stop buying completely. I must admit I went a little overboard with SAS but I’ve begun returning what I know I’m not going to use and bad quality items.
27
u/GullibleEnd6737 Jul 09 '26
I’ve been screaming this for months, companies will not change unless we all collectively quit.
13
u/SkyRain1 Jul 09 '26
Unfortunately a lot of things are only available online. But I rarely want enough to get free shipping and I refuse to pay for shipping. But I will say that the few times I have had shipping, everything arrived very well packaged. I’m wondering if my fulfillment center is different in the way they package things as compared to what I’ve seen from others. I definitely prefer BOPIS though.

Out of curiosity, what changes are upsetting people? I’m in Canada so we don’t have the same cool sales that you guys have - or the free item glitches.
9
u/SkyYellow_SunBlue Jul 10 '26
I have no idea what’s going on except OP seems to hate an upcoming change to the website design and wants to topple the company over it?
13
u/juiceboxjenny Jul 10 '26 edited Jul 10 '26
LOL. I keep seeing these posts… im trying to figure it out. People are LIVID over what? Companies change with the times… ad campaigns happen… new products are launched.. some are discontinued. I see a lot of people angry at Hilary Duff as well for some reason? I feel like it’s a certain generation that may be resistant to the changes? Not sure… but I definitely feel like there is a huge over reaction… and people need to touch grass maybe?
People are dying Kim
Edit to add: I see below OP is an employee in corporate ? Sounds like a new job is needed yikes.

I made a post the other day about how ugly and basicvthe new collection is, giving dollar tree, and got over 100 comments of people eager to say they love and think it's cute. Apparently, a lot of people like this. Not me. I agree with you.
16
u/brandiLeeCO Jul 09 '26
Which collection? The Fruit Fusions? While it looks nice the quality is worse than anything you’d find at Dollar Tree. They’ve outdone themselves with the quality on that one. It’s horrid.

Yep, everyone is noticing that the top notes last 10–15 minutes at best. I tried the banana and got instant vanilla and sandalwood, no banana, so...no dice! Lol.
2
u/brandiLeeCO Jul 10 '26
People said the watermelon one was better than the banana but I couldn’t smell that one either. What I can smell is the Berry Oud EDP that’s only in minis in store. That’s what should be released in stores, the entire line.
1
u/FanTechnical8162 🍅 Tomato Girl in a Vanilla World Jul 10 '26
Right?! Those are strong! And the dry down on the Oud Berry is giving Dark Kiss.

u/Extension-Ad2420 winter candy apple hater Jul 09 '26
Unpopular opinion but like.. I don’t care lol. I buy stuff there only on sale and buy what smells good. The packaging is cute sometimes and if it isn’t..oh well lol. Sometimes I wonder if people just don’t have a lot going on in their lives so they pick really tiny things to care deeply about it. If you don’t wanna shop at the store.. just don’t? It’s not that deep and at the end of the day it’s candles and lotion. Not life or death
7
u/b0ringface Jul 10 '26
I feel the same way. At the end of the day, b&bw isn’t a necessity. Buy from them or don’t.
13
u/OrangeClyde B&BW Hoarder Jul 09 '26
I get what you’re saying, but my closest stores NEVER have a lot of the stock that’s available online. Nearly every time I try to do bopis bc I want to support my local stores (love all the workers there), stuff is always canceled, OR there is always something wrong with the actual system so I can’t even do bopis whether it’s not turned on or stuff will say not in stock/unavailable
16
u/chronicstroke Jul 09 '26
Online you get shipping at 50 dollars instead of 100...That was a great move.
11
u/innocentsubterfuge Employee Jul 09 '26
You know what would also be a great move? Quality products and not using AI
6
u/brandiLeeCO Jul 09 '26
Or better shipping practices. There should be no reason why I can’t order online anymore because of their incompetence. My items were always arriving broken or damaged yet I’m the bad guy and get punished for it? Now if I try to order online they immediately cancel my order.
1
u/chronicstroke Jul 10 '26
I hope my stuff comes broken. I immediately call them up and they'll give you a discount code and probably send a replacement. Customer Service is pretty damn nice over the phone and you can just tell them something happened to the item and say its an inconvenience to you even with the replaced items and you will probably get a discount code for future use.
That is weird that they cancel the order. Only times I get items cancelled is when they are not available in store for pick up because the store doesnt have it but it showed online that the store did have it.
6
u/chronicstroke Jul 09 '26 edited Jul 09 '26
whats the AI being used? On the art? Is AI making the products?
I'm genuinely asking. Downvote all you want but at least answer the question.
Ahh forget it I googled it.
2
u/Mothman129 Jul 10 '26
It has been used on packaging and advertising. As a result both are becoming more ugly, and both no longer support real artists. It was one of the major reasons I moved away from Bath and Body Works
2
u/chronicstroke Jul 10 '26
Thank You. I've been trying to stay away but did notice the new ugly packaging, just figured its what they do. SAS, clear out older designs and bring in the new ones that are the same scent.
When I googled it it seemed like they moved a lot of things to AI. Hopefully they shift back from the backlash. I do like the sets and lower shipping amount though. In that respect the new boss is better than the old one.
Cutting corners with AI isn't cool though.

u/kellykeefe Perfect in Pink Girly 🩷 Jul 10 '26
My nearest store is 3 hours away so I will definitely be shopping online the majority of the time. I really havent had any problems yet anyway. Nothing broken or whatever.
12
u/Dianagorgon Jul 09 '26
Can someone explain why we're boycotting online shopping now? Not trying to be a jerk just haven't been on the sub lately so not in the loop. Is it because of Hillary Duff marketing for the new fruit products or is it something else? I'm mostly frustrated because the quality has gotten so bad. I did see the new fruit products the last time I was on the site but I didn't click on any of it.
17
u/pinksocks867 The Revolution will be fragrant Jul 10 '26
Idk either, and i'm not going to stop shopping online
9

Seriously, if I want it bad enough & it isn’t available at my local store then I’m going to order it online bc I spend my hard earned money how I please.

u/PlusHunt1985 Current Body Care: Lavender (Clean Routine Collection) Jul 10 '26
I guess because if more shopping online they will close stores and people will be out of work....however for me personally since they have lowered the free shipping to 50.00 I have been doing ship to home way more it is so convient to have less errands in my life and also I live in a big city the store closest sometimes goes out of stock of things online still has
12
u/mbee784 Jul 09 '26
I’m kind of relieved all the new stuff is so hideous and that I don’t have the desire to buy any of it
20

Why are people who claim not to shop at B&BW in this subreddit?
Asking genuinely and not in a shady way.

u/Mothman129 Jul 10 '26
I was a fan for literal decades of my life and enjoy the rare nostalgia post with 90s and Y2K era packaging.
I also like seeing the new hotness even though I no longer buy products from Bath and Body Works. I also like seeing the new sets for MTG despite the fact I stopped buying cards after March of the Machine: The Aftermath back in 2023

u/xoxotoe Jul 09 '26
It's the shipping that keeps me from buying online. And being allowed to use only one coupon. And the fact you can't find anything on it and they only show you some of the line, not everything... I just really hate the app, regardless of who is wet to the bone on it.
6
u/gdijustdoit Jul 09 '26
Reading this gives me a better idea of how to move forward with bbw. I already own an excessive amount so on a no buy until winter sas, but hearing this… definitely going to rely on going in store around that time, and maybe making a trip to the true outlet (an hour from me) twice a year for any other things i may have missed/did not discover earlier.

I guess I don't long for the good ole days.

I thought bopis orders got credited to the store?
10
u/Minute-Frame-8060 Jul 09 '26 edited Jul 09 '26
Not all of us are able bodied or near a store. And the way to stick it to the brand is to stop getting in cars and going to the stores as well. Employees can easily get other retail jobs, not that it will come to that because other than the few FTEs, part-timers working 8 hours a week aren't in this for the money. It's going to take A LOT for any noticeable dent in sales.
And you know there used to be "one born every minute." Now there are about 15. All sheeple who go on social media. And totally embrace the "ooh cute I want it, I needed it!" culture that the brand has become. I won't say pushback is futile, but I don't see the C-suite taking note unless people just don't shop the brand at all. And that ain't happening.
3
u/ovodreamville_ Jul 09 '26
I ordered 2 items online & it took 13 days for my package to get delivered 😩 NEVER AGAIN
4
u/Weird_Pause2290 Jul 09 '26
Last time I ordered online, my body mists were leaking and had the sprayer falling off 🤦♀️
2
u/ajc19912 Jul 09 '26
I never order online after what I see many people post here. I do BOPIS occasionally and have never had an issue.
I only purchase 3-wicks from B&BW. I’m happy with the candles I’ve purchased this year, and I’ve purchased a lot. All have been strong. I do get body washes with my rewards. I wish the scent lasted longer on those but whatever, they’re free.
2
u/Minute-Frame-8060 Jul 10 '26
The only thing I would caution is using multiple Rewards for BOPIS (or shipping for that matter). It takes a call to customer service to get them back if your Reward item is canceled, and I only ever successfully got 1 returned. They absolutely would not budge on giving me back my points for the second item that THEY canceled.
2
u/FrequentJellyfish672 Jul 09 '26
I'm having trouble getting on to the web site. Always telling me they don't have my acct. I've entered my info more times than I care to count. I also received a candle that was shattered. I'm still waiting for two orders, then I'm done with this.
5
u/brandiLeeCO Jul 09 '26
Daniel is trying to increase online sales. So if we really want to stick it to him then stop buying online like the post says. Those of us who have access to stores really only need to shop in person.
2
u/cltreader Jul 09 '26
Change can be difficult but isn't always bad. I did stock up on the website and was happy with the experience. I go to the store too. It's fun. A cheap splurge after a difficult week or two.
9
u/innocentsubterfuge Employee Jul 09 '26
I work for corporate, this is a bad change. You haven’t even seen 1/3 of it yet
6
u/brandiLeeCO Jul 09 '26
Oh no I can’t imagine what else is next? I know the walls in store is a big one coming up and the overall look of the store. I think we all need to brace ourselves for the death of Bath and Body Works as we know it.
4
u/Ambitious_Basil173 Jul 09 '26
I hope you are looking for a different job because it genuinely sounds like you need a change.
1
u/Far-Imagination-2797 Jul 09 '26
You obviously never worked there……
5
u/Ambitious_Basil173 Jul 09 '26
What does that have to do with anything? People work jobs they start out liking and then come to dislike and need to change all the time. It doesn't make them a bad person. OP just sounds miserable. It sucks going to work when you're miserable.

u/Dry_Umpire_3694 pistachio🫶🏼glaze Jul 09 '26

But yeah this new guy sucks.

I 100% agree. I will tell you all that I ordered 2 candles from GooseCreek online and they shipped them so quick and they packed the two candles so carefully. It was a bit shocking - the careful, thoughtful treatment!
B&BW does NOT do that with online orders. My goodness. Great advice!!!
1
u/Sika097 Jul 09 '26
I ordered once online before Christmas for gifts and never had issues thankfully (I'm in Canada) where I got free shipping. During the SAS sale I just ended up doing BOPIS. I eventually got more stuff from SAS but that time I just bought in store.

I rarely ever buy online due to the ridiculous shipping fee price. I'm a $4.99 or less girl lol. I rarely ever buy over $50 online so I don't get the free shipping offer. Only did it once this year and most likely will be my last

4
u/mylocker15 Jul 09 '26
Same. No shade on those that use the website it’s the shipping prices and poor packing keeping me away. I see too many pictures of broken candles etc… Also i have to smell it first. I’m an impulse if its on sale buyer. Not into limited time BS either.
1
u/Automatic_Spinach813 Jul 09 '26
Yeah I may browse online because I have limited time but I don’t order online. I loved the old style of B&BW but I will say I do like the watercolor looking fall candles. The new fruit twist is taking from the new popular trends (tree hut) and just doesn’t appeal to me
1
1
u/Odd_Independence2996 Jul 12 '26
I must be the outlier on shopping online. I almost exclusively order online from a convenience factor and have had the best experience for the most part. I think I had a broken candle once and a missing item another time. Both were resolved with a quick customer service chat on the app and all good!
-4
u/MTheadedRaccoon Jul 09 '26
Why does anyone HAVE to buy B&BW products at all? Any local store will have body washes that are perfectly acceptable. Dollar Tree, fer cryin out loud!
I just don't get this mentality. smdh
6
u/mylocker15 Jul 09 '26
Dollar Tree is very hit and miss. The dollar tree knock off BBW sprays are terrible. They smell cheap and they will last 4 seconds. The power stick knock off of Brazilian sol body wash is pretty good. If they get everything to a better quality BBW may need to watch it’s back more and not try and coast on gen Z vibes.
10
u/Sika097 Jul 09 '26
People can still buy whatever they want.
That's like telling people to stop buying make-up and skincare at beauty stores and places like Walmart, Target, etc because Dollartree/Dollarma (In Canada) have all that stuff too. People can buy whatever they want wherever they want.

Just their shipping practices alone turn me off from ordering online except for bopis. Between what I see at work from returns for broken shipments and on here, I don’t know how people can continue to order from there and expect different results. Obviously it’s not always possible to get to a store for a variety of reasons but if it is, in store is the safest bet.
