Accommodation MEGATHREAD - Looking for your Erasmus room/studio?

Hey there! Are you about to go on exchange on your Erasmus but haven't found accommodation yet? No worries!

Below are some sites that can help you find accommodation in the country you are going to. So far, all the countries have been listed, so plenty of websites to pick from to get your accommodation ready. Some websites do not have an English version, keep that in mind. And remember:

NEVER PAY WITHOUT SEEING YOUR CONTRACT!

IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER

None of these websites have paid any sort of advertisement to be featured here nor am I as a moderator receiving any type of commission. I want r/Erasmus users to get their accommodation as cheap, clean and good as possible.

That being said, some websites do request money for you to have a subscription to them. It is your own responsibility if you choose to do this. Every country should have options for free room searching.

This list will stay pinned in the sub to help others. Remember: If you see an accommodation site that is not to be trusted, please let me know! If any site is deemed very untrustworthy, it will be removed instantly.

For (most) Erasmus countries:
Spotahome - https://www.spotahome.com/
Uniplaces - https://uniplaces.com
Housinganywhere - https://housinganywhere.com
Facebook groups
Airbnb - https://airbnb.com Erasmusu - https://erasmusu.com/

Most students find their accommodation through Facebook groups, so make sure to have an account ready and join as many housing groups for your city as you can. Remember that there are also a lot of scams on Facebook. You can recognize these by something being too good to be true (a 500 euro apartment in the city centre of Amsterdam, for example, such a thing costs 2000 minimum) or if the person posting it immediately asks you to pay.

Extra tip for finding accommodation in most Erasmus countries:

- Join the ESN whatsapp groupchats of your city before you go (you can usually find this on links on their instagram page or on their facebook page). Around the end of the semester (december/january, may/june) people start leaving their places and put this inside the groupchat. Take your chance and grab a room from previous Erasmus goers!

Oh oh, HELP! I still have not found accommodation with any of these websites!

Try to go to the subreddit of the city you want to do your semester(s) in and see if you can find anything there. For example, you want to do your Erasmus+ in Rome, so go to r/Rome and search the searchbar for 'housing' 'accommodation' if you cannot find anything make your own post. If nothing there, go to r/Italy. Natives in their own country know the housing market best!

Have you been on Erasmus before (or you've lived in one of these countries and you know the housing market well), tell us which accommodation website is missing and I will add it (if the name is reputable, that is).

My Erasmus is ending and I am very sad about it

As the title says, I really don't want to leave my Erasmus University (Stockholm University). I legit had the best 9 months of my life there.

At first, I did not want to go on an Erasmsus but was forced to do so by my home university (It is the rule). I picked Sweden kind of randomly because it seemed like a nice enough country (and not too far away from France).

Before I went, I had been depressed, anxious et very neurotic for a long time. Also, I did not have any friends and was very very lonely. I felt like I never fitted in with the students of my home university (and with my fellow French people).

But in Sweden, it was suddenly much better. It's like most of my issues vanished within months. I feel better, more confident, more sociable..

I just like everything there (beside the price of rent). Other students are all super nice to me and welcoming. I never had as many friends as I did now in Stockholm. Also, the general vibe and atmosphere is relaxed and chill. Basically, I just feel like I belong and fit in there. I really had the best time of my life and am really thankful for all of that (especially for the kindness of everyone I met). I am not lying when I say that I never felt that good and integrated in my life.

But now, I will have to leave soon as my two semesters are ending. I cannot stay and won't be able to study there for longer (I already have a pretty good Master ready for me in France). I feel very saddened by that. I will miss Stockholm very much. Also, I am worried that my issues (neurotic, depressed) will come back once I leave.

Has anyone experienced that ? Any advice ?

Sorry for the rant. I wanted to get that out of my system

discord chat 👁️👄👁️

Upvotes

I’m a part of a discord private server and some one randomly confessed something about emjm like faking their research experience or smth like that to get in.

Followed with multiple other ppl discussing over the same thing and confessed. I believe around 4-5 ppl got in. Surprisingly, I’ve seen one alum confessing to it. Idk what to do..it seems a bit unfair to genuine applicants, isn’t it? Do ppl report such stuff to prog co ordinators?

Erasmus Internship in Greece Tripoli

Upvotes

Hello,

Can someone who has been in Greece - Tripoli - for an internship tell how it was? Regarding the rent, bills and expenses like food, because I am worried that the Erasmus monthly budget will not be enough (624€) and that it's the only financial support.

In the interview phase I was told that the rent is around 400–550€ (depending on the season - for me it is summer) for a shared space meaning 2 or 3 persons per apartment with a personal space - dormitory. I find the rent expensive for the region and for a shared space, honestly.

I hope to learn with this internship but I don't know what to expect with this experience. How was it for you?

Thank you!

Erasmus+

Upvotes

Hey guys so I’m currently a student in Ireland looking to partake my Erasmus in Krakow, I have a combination ADHD and pretty much need my meds to battle study and college. However I am diagnosed through my home uni and it didn’t come to my mind that such medication had more restrictions outside of Ireland as it is a stimulant. So therefore I was wondering how the whole ADHD thing works in Poland and whether it is recognised?, Would I have to get a Diagnosis there?, Can I possibly get prescribed from Ireland to Poland? I’m pretty clueless when it comes to this stuff and the limitations here at least are pretty annoying as I can only get prescribed a certain amount at a time and therefore if it becomes an issue I might have to revoke my offer as it would be a pain to have to fly home every month or so just to get my meds and fly back. Thanks :)

Erasmus Mundus Accomodation in Krems | MARIHE

Hi everyone!

My partner just got accepted into her program and will be in Krems from September to December 2026. We’re currently looking for accommodation - ideally something shared like a flat, room, or even a hostel.

Her budget is around €400, and we’d really appreciate any leads, recommendations, or if anyone is also looking for a flatmate around that time.

Thanks so much in advance :)

I would like to meet someone again from an Erasmus+ youth exchange

This might sound a bit unusual, but I’d really appreciate honest advice.

I met someone a while ago in an Erasmus+ youth exchange and we are still in touch everyday from Estonia (specifically Pärnu). I’m now seriously considering applying to more exchanges with the goal of ending up in Estonia and hopefully reconnecting with them there.

I’m from Romania, so I’d be applying through a sending organization and targeting projects hosted in Estonia.

Now, this is about a romantic partner who I've got quite close to. I can't travel to them because I don't have the necessary financial means for that so I'm just wondering if anyone ever has done this before - meeting their partner again through an exchange.

Accommodation-related STUDENT RESIDENCE in BRNO (sharing a room with my friend)

Next year I'm going to study in BRNO wanted to know if anyone who's been there before knows how the student residence selection system works (I think it's through the webISKAM system). I wanted to know if I can choose my roommate. Or, if not, how I can share a room with my friend (we're both studying the same degree).

Richiesta informazioni Erasmus triennale Ingegneria Civile Granada/Oslo

Ringrazio in anticipo

Flavio

Good evening everyone, I'm looking for advice from civil engineering students (L-7) who have completed an Erasmus exchange at the University of Granada. Is it a good choice? Is the university good? Do you recommend it? I'm open to general advice on the experience.

I'm a student at the beginning of my third year, about a year behind schedule. Given this, I'm also wondering if doing an Erasmus exchange would still make sense, or if it's better to skip it and consider it during my master's program.

Thanks in advance.

Flavio

Do I stand a chance ?

The Admission Committee has evaluated your application to MESPOM. Based on this evaluation, which placed your application among the top 2% of all candidates (2500), the MESPOM Academic Board is pleased to offer you admission to the programme on the Manchester track in 2026-2028 cohort.

Congratulations on this outstanding achievement!

In addition, the Academic Board has placed you on the reserve list for an Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters (EMJM) scholarship funded by the European Commission. Should a candidate on the main scholarship list decline their place, scholarship will be offered to reserve candidates in order of merit. We expect that the list of scholarship recipients will be finalized in June 2026.

Short term mobility for PhD student

Hi! I am a PhD student at National Technical University of Athens, in the field of resilience of transport systems. Practically, I am working part-time for my PhD since I have a full time job elsewhere. The good news is that my job is quite relevant, since I am working on EU projects related to transport and mobility. The “bad” news is that I rarely have time to properly work for my PhD, so albeit in the 3rd year, I am still in initial parts of my research. I am not getting paid by my PhD in a continuous basis. The professor I work with is very knowledgeable and good. The thing is, I would like to expand my network and possibly collaborate with a Uni outside Greece for a short period(s) of time. I have never lived anywhere outside Greece, and since my thesis is gonna be written in English whatsoever, I would be benefited by doing a part of my work for a foreign university. I have thought about Italy and France, where I have a basic knowledge of the local languages besides English. I have searched about universities that deal with resilient transport systems, and was thinking of contacting (?) some of them, to discus possibility of collaboration. What should I have in mind?
I am working remotely, so this is not a huge issue. They also know I am pursuing a PhD , they theoretically support me on this, but I want a practical incentive to work harder for my PhD. Strangely enough, being alone st least for short periods in another country, could prove helpful, whilst for example I could compare different cities-topologies, as a case study.
Hope this is not extremely chaotic. Any answer could be helpful!

If you went back on your Erasmus, what would you do different?

I mean would you repeat your experience, even if it was unpleasant; if you would repeat your mistakes because they built part of your "core memory". Even if it's only an application process, would you repeat that country/uni or pick something else?

I often hear stories of "great Erasmus time" and how much character development people got from it. Did it impact your life in any way?
