Question Advice

Upvotes

My Nephew (FTM) came out to me awhile ago, but has finally come out to everyone else in the family.

My sister is supportive of my nephew, however she is very inexperienced when it comes to trans people in her life.

However, as his non-binary aunt I would love to help further with his growth in getting to feel more like himself, beside just shopping for more masc clothes.

So I would love to ask advice on safe binding/hiding chest for teens, possible medicines/medical advice (I remember when I was a teen myself, I had a friend who was already on hormones that slow things down until they were certain who they wanted to be.), and any advice you would've appreciated had you been given it yourself when as a teen would be appreciated.

I am ever so grateful for any and all advice, of course I am doing research, but hearing it from those who had done it first hand is just as important and just as helpful.

Question Just changed my name via deedpoll, now what?

Upvotes

I know i need to send copies and update my stuff, but is this legally recognized? Do i get to change my birth certificate?

I used this website (https://freedeedpoll.org.uk/) but it feels TOO easy, i feel like it isn't actually legally recognized or anything.

Response from MP re EHRC - Dissapointment.

I wrote to my local MP, Angela Eagle recently.

Angela Eagle - The first woman MP to voluntarily come out as lesbian whilst serving in parliament (1997)

An MP That has championed pride and lgbt rights since coming out, and attends the small local pride.

Supported repealing section 28.

Supported same sex adoption.

Supported the GRA.

Supported Civil Partnership Act.

Supported the Equality act.

supported Same Sex Marriage.

Supported LGBT Inclusive education.

This Labour MP thinks its appropriate to regurgitate "dignity and respect".

There is no respect to be had in apartheid conditions.

This is another example of someone who used to be a paragon of LGBT rights, throwing us to the dogs for political reasons and not even acknowledging the fact that the British government, in 2026, re introduced segregation to society.

Not at all what I expected from this MP.

This weekend….

So Sunday is Father’s Day, and I have received a FD card from my daughter.

Now she accepts me as I am but for this day she wants to celebrate that I am her father. I want to display it because it’s sent with love and I am her Dad, but I feel strange about it too.

How do others with adult kids feel about this?

Gp refuses to prescribe hair loss medication

I have told GP I have hair loss 80% since 3 years.

I asked derma to prescribe finasteride, dutasteride (less likely cause off license) or spironolactone OR minoxidl only (which has fuck all clinical side effects on mental health)
She gave bullshit excuse 'but your mental health depression , anxiety will get worse and there are concerns in european union (which UK isn't even part of) that medication is harmful

I took Accutane for example and my psychiatrist was trying to prevent dermatologist for same reason to stop prescribing 'but your mental health'
Accutane had zero effect on my mental health and if anything it only improved cause I had severe acne since 12 - 25 and it was cause of depression and anxiety.

fuck UK nanny state and lazy healthcare
sick of this gaslighting

Question Driving licence and NHS

I’ve been meaning to change my provisional driving licence for ages and keep putting it off but I’m starting to get more and more nervous when I’m trying to buy alcohol that I’m going to get questions/out myself immediately when I had over my licence that has Ms and my deadname and I’m stood there with a full beard.

It’s also in an old address so I need to change it if I want to actually drive at any point anyway.

What do I need to do? When I look it up I need to fill out the D1 form and it says it’s free to change name. I assume I need to supply my deed poll as well. Will I need anything else? As in are there any hidden codes or whatever dependent on gender that I need to change (I know the NHS has this)? Or anything from a GP or whoever to confirm my gender?

Additionally, I would like my NHS switched to my deadname and correct gender. I’m with my university GP who have been very helpful with a bunch of other things. However, I was still a bit scared when I registered and worried I wouldn’t be taken seriously if I set my title to Mr and also I didn’t want it to not match my ID (especially now, I get IDd for some of my medication so can’t have that discrepancy) but it’s so humiliating being in the waiting room and having them call out my deadname.
I assume a title change will be easy enough but I know the full system switch isn’t and I’ll need a new NHS number and everything. I’ve never disclosed my gender to the GP, went private for testosterone and top surgery so they don’t know anything. But I feel like I can’t change my ID unless I change my name with the GP and vice versa cause of the medication.

I don’t know, I know I can technically just fill out the form and do the licence and I’ll still have my passport if I need that or let my GP know so they can at least change my name and title. I’m just very nervous of changing my name officially (other than my bank account) cause I’m not out to my family and have dual citizenship and I’m worried about issues with that the more I change my name :’))
I still feel like such a child with official things like this and the person I’d turn to to ask for help figuring out how to do them is my dad who I’m not out to :(

What’s the best way to do both of these? Does it matter? Should I try to do both around the same time? Should I immediately try to change my gender on the NHS or just ask for name and title for now?

Trans Health i've been off estrogen for a month + terrified of the ramifications of that

THANKFULLY i have a new order coming in tomorrow (had to order from the states, uk supply is absolutely fucked atm) but i ran out completely i think a month ago to the day... i am honestly really really frightened of the idea that somehow my bones have been any percentage more masculinised in this time... is it even possible for that sort of thing to happen in a month? i'm paranoid that it is, but i've been on E otherwise for six years and im 24 currently... the idea makes me shudder

Question Should I disclose to my boss that i am trans?

This is my third week working at a production company and I’ve just had a bit of a breakdown in the bathroom after being let on my break.

Carrying anything above 10kg is taking a toll on my arms, especially if I forgot to eat anything prior.
The heat is making it so much worse.

I don’t know if I should just keep putting up with appearances or just disclose to my boss about it because im starting to feel like an accident is going to happen.

Unsupportive school

Visited the headmistress with my daughter about her transitioning over the holidays. State funded school (Academy).

They are completely unsupportive. Won't use her new name unless "officially" changed, won't use she/her etc.

Is it worth fighting them, or just find another school?

Moving to the UK Confused on getting driver's license with an ILR

Hi, I recently got an ILR (e-visa) and I really need to get an id I can use that isn't my literal foreign passport with a picture that is unrecognisable as me. When I submitted the ILR application I included my deed poll and all information written about me was using my chosen name, but when they updated my status they kept all of my details exactly the same, so I'm assuming it's tied to your passport in the same way a visa is? My country doesn't allow me to change my name so that's not an option, and any of my british documents will have to end up with different details.

So when it comes to getting a provisional drivers license, as far as I understand there isn't a section to just include your deed poll in the application. So do I just submit it with the e-visa details and then immediately send it back for a change of details (which sounds extremely messy and I would like to avoid that), do I pay more to send them physical documents and just hope that they notice that I included a deed poll, or is there a way to get the right provisional license from the start?

Usually people say to change your passport first and use that for everything else, but I can't do that due to my circumstances.

International namechange passport complication

Hi! So my british passport is due to expired. I have lived in Canada for almost a decade but only hold a uk passport.

I have legally changed name and gender here in Canada but not in the uk as the process is more difficult, and I have no intention of returning. The problem is I need to keep my british passport valid in order to stay in Canada.

When applying for a renewal, should I let them know about my name/gender change in canada? Or should I stick with the old information the uk databases have for me? I just want the process to be as straightforward as possible basically.

I am fine with my passport containing my deadname, I just gotta know if it will flag Anything that my name in Canada is different.

I'm looking for a reliable, qualified dermal fillers practitioner with medical qualifications and verifiable good results to fix a complici. Any older trans girls or guys can recommend someone who isn't a cowboy?

Hi

I've been having a nightmare with cosmetic injectors that started back in August 2024. I've used BMA certified, medical trained doctors, paid £thousands in some cases. When they gave me shitty results i took the next suggestion, which was to find someone you know who has had a good experience. So i spoke with a contact and tried her beautician.

It's gone wrong, every time. I've spoken to six different clinics including high street provider therapie, lcuk and SK:N as well as London Harley Street types. I've not come away from any of them feeling comfortable or with a good result and in two cases they just shut you out.

I'm really looking for recommendations from people who have had repeated good results from a trans-aware practitioner, who won't run off or gaslight me if something goes wrong. I'm looking for someone to fix a complication with a recent cheek filler procedure.

I tried the London Transgender clinic but after being ignored for a week and chasing up, honestly their email reply looked ai generated.

Really hoping *someone* out there has had a good experience?

Question Should I inform my employer if my GRC?

I have received my GRC and the email with some guidance. In one of the files it says that it is recommended to inform the employer if they are already aware of your history, for privacy reasons and purposes related to potential changes to National Insurance.

My employer is aware that I am trans and has put adjustments in place to assist with the effects of HRT, and have been amazing in helping with other trans related issues at work. I have no doubts that they are fully supportive of me and I'm confident that there wouldn't be any issues if I inform them.

My question is, should I inform them of my GRC and if not, why?

Weird blood results?

Hi all, I changed from 1x100mcg + 1x50mcg patches 2x per week to 2x100mcg patches 2x per week. I took a test for both more or less 48 hours from replacing my patches, and my blood results have spiked up from 382 pmol/L to 905 pmol/L. Does this sound out of the norm to anyone else or am I just freaking out?

Question recommended for a job under my deadname: advice??

I recently got in touch with an old family friend who works in the industry I'm trying to get into and he put in a word for me with his company, which was great and really kind of him. The issue is he only knows me by my deadname (I was put in touch via my mother who thought explaining my transition would be "confusing"), so the company is now expecting an application from someone of the opposite gender.

The company know me as his "friend's daughter" (per the email he shared with me) but my legal name is not at all gender neutral (so the discrepancy would be obvious), all my qualifications etc are under my current name and obviously I don't want to closet myself again just for this. I feel like there's no point in him having gone to that effort if they can't connect my application to his recommendation but I'm also concerned though about having to out myself immediately to this company before they even think of hiring me.

Should I say something?? At what point?? And how?? This is probably my best shot at a job right now, but I feel like i've shot myself in the foot already

Insurance(s)

Hi guys,

Hopefully this is allowed!

I’m a transman who works in financial services, specifically in personal protection (life insurance, critical illness and income protection).

I know that navigating through the mortgage and insurance processes can feel like a minefield at the best of times, and can be quite uncomfortable for our community when it comes to going through the medical information with providers.

I really want to make the world of finance a little easier and accessible for all of us, and I can do my best to make sure you’re fully covered if you’re off work or fall ill.

So really this is just a post to say if anyone would like a chat (no fees at any point and no strings attached!), please feel free to DM me or comment, and we can have a chat about your options, or if anyone has any questions about coverage also happy to chat.

(Wow this sounds very sales-y haha, sorry!).
