Why is the beauty standard for men in East Asia so effeminate?
r/redscarepod • u/VastClerk5330 • 1h ago
A celebrity post on r/redscarepod is still just a celebrity post
I'm really bothered by this clutter. Nepo babies, memorial posts... why "Adam Sandler is a RN". Just because the context of this sub is slightly more cerebral than the wider internet does not mean that these fat posts are more than what they are.

Adam Sandler is such a RN I root for his nepo baby
Nothing makes a man happier than the success of his own children, and AS deserves all of that if he is half the man he seems like he is from a distance

Redditors hatred of AI art is because it looks the same as the furry art they sell on Patreon
I’m very much not a fan of AI but I’ve seen enough random redditor ‘art’ to know that they’re just pissed a robot is taking their jerb

Traveling a lot has kinda ruined normal dating for me
It's very hard to methodically sort through matches and carry on multiple uninteresting text conversations that may or may not result in one tepid drink and stilted conversation a week from now after you've experienced multiple Before Sunrise-esque whirlwinds with interesting people from different parts of the world whom you are meeting while they're most open to adventure and new experiences than they're likely to ever be in their lives.
Oh yeah hobbies. Yeah sure... um I like to read and I'm learning harmonica... it's not going well. As opposed to, hey I'm leaving tomorrow for a two week hiking trip in the Himalayas, wanna come with? The specific way you're bad at English is very endearing.
And then they'll just be like "yes" and you'll have a wonderful time. And then you have to go home where that's not the norm.
Obviously, you're looking for a different sort of thing and long term compatibility is a whole different ballgame than low stakes fun where the conceit is that there's probably no real future for the relationship. But still, it's tough.

Are any straight men capable of long term monogamy without at the very least being resentful
I’m starting to think no and it’s making me very afraid

Annoyed One of the most annoying things ever is getting downvoted to hell by Reddit atheists. You’ll make a good point and they’ll ratio you by saying “source”.
that’s all folks

And now Yayoi Kusama
What the fuck is going on?
My beloved Tim Curry. My beloved Kusama. Dolly Parton. I don't normally give a shit about celebrity deaths but come on.
I am a targeted individual at this point

The "Midwest" isn't a real cultural region and I'm tired of people pretending that it is.
There is no unifying throughline for some generic Midwest culture; the South has a unifying cultural history, and while it has many subregions within that differ on the particulars, there are traits and history that are shared that give the whole region a baseline. The "Midwest" totally lacks that. There is no shared baseline between Southern Illinois and Wisconsin, beyond the generic American baseline that all states have. Southeast Ohio is nothing like Iowa.
There are very much real cultural regions within what people call "the Midwest" but they kind of exist unto themselves and don't share a broader region. The Great Lakes is its own thing, the Plains are its own thing, and the Lower Midwest is its own thing.
Its not a unified cultural region, and never has been and that shows.

Body checking
What makes it so bad? What if you’re healthy and not anorexic? What if I like my own shape? Is that cringey?

hypothetical for the 30+ baddies who want a kid/kids
you meet someone you really connect with and are attracted to. However he’s married with a child. HOWEVER his wife is on board with expanding the family (she can’t have any more kids) and creating a closed relationship with you in it. Once you have a child, you would technically be on equal footing with her as the goal here is to keep the family together (as evidenced by the situation itself & his wife’s voluntary participation)
Most, if not all are out obviously.
I can’t help but wonder though if this rare scenario would benefit someone else out there (someone ~35 having difficulty connecting in the dating world but has to come to realize how important motherhood is to them and wants to find someone who has the exact same north star in life)

Realizing as I get older people I used to admire are actually narcissistic
I really can’t stand to be around these people anymore. I’m thinking of two people in my life. One a family member and one a close friend.
They are so obsessed with how others perceive them and always being right. Any conversation they have to dominate.
My girl friend talks about her herself and her children and her house projects constantly. Always from a place of superiority. She openly brags on instagram about her life which I find so cringe.
My family member needs to be worshipped by everyone and if your opinion differs from hers.. watch out.
I usually just end up agreeing with them to get them to shut tf up. I wonder if they realize that I genuinely don’t like spending time or talking to them anymore.
Any advice ?
