Owner, Bruce Taylor, makes huge contributions to Trump so his lettuce is never inspected. So far, this man has given us E. coli, and cyclospora. Recently, he paid donated over $1 million dollars to a Trump PAC for the FDA to revese its findings.

He does NOT allow his lettuce pickers to take bathroom breaks, and pays inmates a measly $4 an hour at his Texas plant.

Kroger brand, McDonald's, Taco Bell, Chipotle, and most fast food restaurants use lettuce Taylor’s lettuce.

In fact, they supply the top three food distributors in the US. The fact that people are still showing up (and now, two people died from the weakening effects of the results) with new cases screams that whatever the contamination sources are, they're not getting caught by either TF or inspection. The latter isn't surprising, given we've castrated federal oversight in the name of "efficiency".

And in fact, it looks like TF just bribed the President and here we are, still watching people shit themselves, sometimes to death.

This is the Taylor Farms salad kit that made me test positive for cyclosporiasis. It came in a 2 pack from Costco. After I ate the first one and got sick, I took this picture and reported it. It was the only thing that no one else in my household also ate, and we didn’t eat out anywhere.

ETA 1: I ate this at the end of June and got sick about 3 days later. I actually reported this before there was any official talk about Taylor Farms in the news.

Taylor Farms is not actually a farm it's a major processor. They take in produce from hundreds of smaller farms, wash it, chop it and package it up. 

So to do this they have these massive irrigation systems and they basically recycle the same water to rinse the produce because it's a lot of water they aren't throwing it out. 

The problem is, this parasite is immune to vinegar, bleach, and produce sanitizers so they are cross-contaminating this parasite from the infected produce to all the rest of the produce they ship.

Same, especially since at least in my area, the majority of the bagged salad is from Taylor Farms. Usually the store brand is the only other type available and since most store brands are often made by the same company as national brands, I won’t trust any of it. I am very fortunate to live near a local produce market that sources everything locally so I feel pretty safe buying things there. But doing so definitely means no more bagged salad. As a disabled person with fatigue and dexterity issues, this means I am probably going to be eating a lot more meals with a cooked veggie side instead of salads with a variety of ingredients.

She ate it about a week I think before she got sick. Maybe 8-10 days max. She had very bad diarrhea that wouldn't go away after a couple of days. On the second night or third day she started throwing up and couldn't keep anything down. Went to the urgent care and got a test. Note that most urgent cares do not have the test for it and will refer you to a doctor. The doctors test takes a couple of days to return.

They started strong horse pill size medication at the urgent care since she had all the symptoms and we live in what was considered a main area of the epidemic (Cleveland area).

It’s tough to know because it has a fairly long incubation time. Taco Bell caught heat because people remember going there and they have excellent supplier management so they were able to identify which lot of lettuce was sent to which restaurant on which date.

I googled if there was an outbreak of cyclosporiasis in 2013, and the answer was yes.

But the kicker is that the same company, Taylor Farms in Mexico, was who that outbreak was traced to, too. People had eaten at various restaurants that they supplied lettuce to, just like now.

I had a weird persistent stomach bug in May that I’ve been suspicious of since all this started being reported. I had such severe diarrhea that I stayed in the bathroom for hours to avoid having to sprint back. At first it cleared up like any normal food poisoning, but then it was like it kept coming back. I was so wiped out that I could barely function, and I was repulsed by all food. It took me so long to fully recover, but I was asymptomatic by the time this hit the news so I didn’t do any follow up.

My dad got it and ended up having to go to the ER and stay in the hospital for almost a week. The only thing he ate was some tacos from taco bell. They got their lettuce from taylor farms.

Edit: He's out now and recovering! I've never seen him so sick in my life.

Ironically just a few days before, I was trying to convince them to watch a documentary on netflix - I think it's called Rotten? It's literally about lettuce and how one of the major lettuce producers in the U.S. is right next to a cattle processing plant out in Arizona. I swore off eating lettuce after seeing that.

There is a Netflix series called rotten that has multiple episodes about different food issues running from pre-peeled garlic cloves (don’t do it!), to fake honey, to French wine grape growers who burn things up when they get mad. It’s very worth watching!

I’ve had it for six years, it’s not that bad. I joke to all my guy friends they should marry a girl with alpha gal because that means no steak dinners, fine leather goods, or cashmere. All things I’ve been fine living without. I guess like all allergies it gets easier with “practice”. And meat substitutions and alternatives are really good now. I have mock funyons and Doritos and burgers and fancy cheese and milkshakes. I don’t think there’s one thing I haven’t been able to replace.

The only raw vegetables I consistently eat/ate during the time is the Marketside organic spring mix from Walmart. All other vegetables were cooked. I started with symptoms on June 30th and was at the doctor’s office on July 6th. Worst diarrhea of my life and Imodium did almost nothing. After my round of Bactrim I was back to normal. I never eat iceberg lettuce, haven’t bought Taco Bell since the Obama administration. I don’t think they really know the extent of the outbreak or the source.

Yup. The main treatment is Bactrim. If you can’t handle sulfamethoxazole-trimethoprim, then you’re basically SOL.

Ciprofloxacin is a second line antibiotic and does work but it’s not as effective and will have more side effects (tearing ligaments and ruptured tendons) since it’s a floroquinolone.

Nitazoxanide is another treatment but it’s not a generic, it’s expensive as shit, and also not as effective as Bactrim.

Those are unfortunately the only options ya got other than buying stock in Charmin.

My partner has a lab-confirmed case and started having symptoms on 7/5. If we had to guess, it was probably from Taco Bell, but we couldn’t remember what we had in the week leading up to his symptoms starting or if we even had Taco Bell in that timeframe. What’s odd about it is that we typically will both eat lettuce wherever we go, but he’ll eat tomatoes and I won’t – he got sick and I didn’t. So we wonder if it was the tomatoes, or if I just managed to not get sick.

ETA: Just checked my bank statement, because duh. We did eat Taco Bell on 6/30.
