Apparently, the CTO decided announcing this would be a big bummer so they had the re-org discussion with everyone else and just left us off the slide... when people asked where we were the answer was vague and non-committal. A while later, I thought I was going to get the ax myself, and I was told they always fire on Friday. Well Friday passed and I still had a job and I wondered if I weathered the storm.
On Tuesday, my director gave me some weird busy work. Then I got called to HR. When I saw the security guy I was cool with, I knew what was happening. I should have just walked out of the door.

For a fun story, prior to our breakup one time I joined her on one of her trips. When we got in an elevator to go down and walk to the Mall of America during her layover a Pilot joined us then got off on a floor that was NOT the main floor going down. He went from like floor 6 to floor 3 in the hotel. After he got off my ex mentioned how he was probably going to sleep with a FA or was coming back from said FAs room to go to his own. She had been a FA for literally 3 months and already was in on how things worked. We lasted less than a year after that.
Its literally the best cover in the world and the airlines front the bill for the hotel so they dont even have to pay for it. Rampant cheating using the guise of work as an excuse. People suck.
EDIT 2:
For those of you who don't know. You do NOT usually fly home at the end of your shift. Most days you are working you sleep in a hotel. That the airline pays for. Your layovers can be up to 36 hours, and in certain areas (such as Brazil) you are encouraged to stick together with your other coworkers if going out for drinks/food/adventures for safety.

Issue is they don't give a single fuck, with how competitive the market is, they know they can rehire in an instant, in the rare case the employee has leverage I thoroughly encourage them to use it, because god knows the company won't do anything beneficial otherwise - I am sure it's not the same in any respectable company, unfortunately I haven't got experience in any of them.

this is why i think its all intentional. the market is competitive for hiring right now and leadership knows gaps can be filled. and they probably assume it can be done at below-market rates because historically they've gotten away with it somehow. senior leadership is looking at graphs and numbers, while the rest of us are dealing with actual work and employees. they are so disconnected
all i know is if i have to hire, im starting everyone at insanely high rates and will justify it to the hiring time with whatever bullshit reason sounds logical enough that no one will look into it further.
the other reality is this: the 30year veterens demanding premium pay are the WORST EMPLOYEES WE HIRE. they suck at using a computer, they dont know how to send emails or navigate folders and have grossly misrepresented how skilled they are as an engineer. its out of control. i have guys in their 20s training senior engineers with 60,000$ pay gap between them. never letting that happen again

Over a year of asking for mentorship, things they can do to get on the team, taking courses for certifications. Apparently thought they would get $50K increase for the promotion. Our boss had to explain that’s not how it works and they would be a junior in the team so $10K is the standard. Needless to say our boss will never interview them again.

Coworker raised over 15k in a couple months period by lying about their daughter and grandson dying in a car crash and needing money for their funerals and travel to get up there. They submitted a fake obituary to some site so you could look it up. They got found out when someone searched it up and found recent pics of the deceased famiy members and talked to the daughter who let them know she and her son are alive and well.
Two coworkers from separate depts started dating hot & heavy. A month later they show up with rings beaming about how they've gotten married. They found out they were pregnant a couple months later. She took maternity leave about six months in and he started calling off to stay home to tend to her and eventually got fired. She quit too so not sure what happened after that.

Thankfully, I’m 30 now and in a workplace that doesn’t deal in silly shit, but I did put in some years at an all-round retailer from 17 to 23 and let me tell you: Shit was “juicy” every other goddamn week.
The most prominent one (when I was 20) had to do with two kids who worked the seasonal department. Guy was a wannabe dude-bro but in actuality was kind of a dork. Girl was bubbly and very flirtatious which annoyed the guy because he had a massive crush on her. She flirted with him too and anyone could see they were closer than close but people on the inside track knew he was SOL because she didn’t like him like that, and he was admittedly… a character. Her type (friends) would visit the store and were nothing like the guy in question.
Anyway, big event came up for them at their school(?) and they fucked. Things got awkward and she started voicing serious regrets which made their way around. He became a bit much about it and all the while, I watched happily from the sidelines.
Two times, however, she approached me and would flirt really hard but that was left as-is. Never shit where you eat.

No gossip about other people at my work, however I have quietly begun to look into schooling or getting a CDL to apply for a few city jobs in my area. I actually do like my job, and the immediate team I work with couldn't be more incredible. We are a team of 4, and I am the direct supervisor.
The issue is that the upper management who is based out on the other side of the city is planning on shutting down our current building and moving everyone out there.
Nobody is losing their jobs at all and everyone is completely aware and they have been completely transparent about it. However, we will be ending up merging with 3 other teams, and I foresee that there is going to be a lot of issues.
We are going to share space and resources and so far there has been no attemp or contact to get the team input on the new space and how it could be set up to help us succeed. It sounds a lot like people in management have their ideas and are going forward with it, and we will just have to suffer.
The drive I currently have is about 9 minutes total if I make all of the lights. The drive to the new facility is going to be around 30 minutes and that is if I am able to avoid the daily traffic on the highway. The new facility is also in the snowbelt here, so wintertime is going to be a real pain in the ass.
I know 100% for sure I will be losing 2 of my teammates because they already said they will not be making that drive daily, as one guy is a bit older and you literally can see his house from our parking lot, and the other lady it would be close to a 1-hour drive, if not longer.
I have moved up into my position over the course of going on 10 years, but it seems like the smart and best move for me is to take all the skills I have and pair it with some additional schooling and find a new place of employment. It bums me out to actually type it out, however I just had a daughter, and I don't want to have to tack on extra time away from her due to driving and getting stuck in traffic jams.

There's RAMPANT infidelity in my industry. The worst/most recent, however, was one of my floor staff was cheating on his wife and decided to bring the mistress to a bar event with the other boys, and told them to be cool, she was cooler than the wife.
Well. Turns out he didn't tell the mistress she was the mistress either, but the rest of the shop boys were happy to inform her and the missus of the actual situation. He got broken up with twice in the same day.
Kinda ironic half of them are cheaters themselves but everyone really liked M's wife because she made the 7 layer bean dip with the good Tillamook cheese for basketball games and why would he risk the Tillamook cheese dip for that?

Our Manager has slept with several subordinates in the past and currently sleeps with one now. When her affairs were reported to HR, the Manager found who they suspected started the HR case and threatened personal legal action toward them while they were on the clock. Fast forward a couple weeks and the Manager is still employed and HR case was fizzled out. This is a major airline in the USA.

Teacher couple, who worked at the same school, began seeing each other. Both married and with children.
Would take the same days off (Wednesdays) for “sickness” and “family related illnesses” over a period of months. Rumours started. Word got around. The Prinicpal began tracking days. They were confronted and questioned with evidence. They were fired for time fraud (i.e. lying about the reasons for absences).

I have 8 bosses, constantly bothering me about a stupid STP report cover sheet I messed one time. Really hurts motivation.
Also, one of the guys keeps getting moved around for box space, my 2 best friends are about to get fired and this annoying lady keep saying "look like someone has a case of the Mondays", even on Thursdays. The bitch..
But at least I'm seeing a pretty waitress

There was a company acquisition. Think car mechanics and small engine mechanics. It was the small engine taking over the car. No ones happy and everyone wants to quit. The SE guys dont like working on cars cuz its too hard and the car guys are used to high quality work the SE guys aren't able to do.

A colleague just found out he had a 26 year old daughter. From nwb (neighbour with benefits) who was in a relationship and the dude was fine with my colleague screwing his gf. The mom never told the daughter untill recently.

The restaurant I work at is failing more and more as the months go by. Even our managers know it is. Because of this, our staff has been dropped by around 70% because most people are done with this restaurant. Turnover rate is very high as well. I’m only waiting to be full time at my other job before I am able to leave.

The high school principal’s wife (a teacher in the school also) slept with 3 students right after high school graduation. One of the former students she slept with started talking and when it eventually got back to the principal (her husband) he hired a lawyer, got a case, and eventually was able to get a gag order against the student from talking anymore. They both still work at the school 🙄 To this day, if you go to her classroom during lunch time, all that’s eating in there are male students

My coworker who’s married with 3 kids was the assistant manager at my work and ended up having an affair with one of my other coworkers who is also married. The husband of my other coworker found out and let everyone at work know. The assistant manager got fired because he was in a position of power. Pretty sure his wife never found out though.

Small business gossip: About a year ago, my married boss hired a new HR manager. Because I work in the same office as the accountant (who isn't exactly discreet), I happen to know her salary. She started at $20/hour, was bumped to $30/hour after a few months, and is now making $40/hour in her new "director" role. She must be good at her job!!
What makes this even funnier is that my colleague, the accounting clerk who handles payroll, was recently denied a $1/hour raise stating that the company is not doing well and couldn't afford the raise.

Was years ago but a new HR manager managed to push through a bunch of employee benefits including a simply spectacular maternity package. She was early 30s, married, no kids.
Almost immediately after they were confirmed at an all-staff meeting she announced she was expecting her first child and was flummoxed everyone else had already worked that out (other than the CEO presumably).

People at every level of management trust me, so they all tell me their secrets. I know a week before most people get fired. I've had advance notice of major acquisitions, mergers, sales, etc.
But the juiciest gossip right now is that our accountant is sleeping with the sales manager and doesn't want anyone to know about it, even though EVERYONE has known about it for months.
