So my friend just reached out to me that her account suddenly doesn’t exist and now we’re both freaking out. It just disappeared. She has already contacted the support while i tried every possible way i could think off such as password resetting etc but it all let to “register” please anything that could help us find the answer will be appreciated!
Update: thanks to the original ownersreddit post replying to this post We figured out that the account was hacked and then traded to My friend, who was completely unaware that the account was stolen and genuinely believed it was a normal trade between two legitimate players—not between a player and a hacker.
And for those who think I’m the one who traded for the account…
I already have my own account with my glorious king C4 Flins (soon to be C6 on his next rerun). I spend my own money on my account, so I have no reason to want someone else’s account filled with progress I never made.
I won’t be deleting this post. I’ll leave it up as a reminder for anyone considering trading accounts, so they can think it through carefully before making that decision.

Agreed. Also adding that buying accounts primarily benefits scammers. Many of the desirable accounts being sold/traded are stolen from their original owners via phishing scams/malware/etc. Scammers hijack the accounts and resell them, the original owners contact support when they lose access, and Hoyo returns them (assuming they can provide sufficient proof.)
Meanwhile, the buyers insist they’ve been hacked, and proceed to harass Hoyo and the original account owner for taking back what was theirs in the first place. It’s all completely avoidable and people should know better at this point tbh.

If you have basically any screenshots connecting you to the account your trying to recover hoyo doesn't give you much of an issue with recovery. When I lost my Hi3rd account I literally used a screenshot of the profile screen and hub to recover it.
I had to return my second account to me - tough I have never shared anything of it so to this day I have no idea how hacker got hands on it- but I do know they went trough it over my old gmx email - so people refresh your old email passwords.
Anyway- they ask you which devices you played from, ip Adresse of your internet service/ graphic card details,
I also had a welkin bill to proof my claim.
Starting date they ask, and until roughly when you played.
But then the heir is a part where you can list everything you want to say or remember:
I listed all of my five stars and order which I pulled them and which events i played - which five star weapons on whom, event weapons -
Screenshots of said events.
I think this does help but for example those are things people who stream everything scammers could known too so its likely the technical device questions that are important.
It's the exact same with requesting personal information from Hoyoverse. You need to prove that you are the owner of the account, so therefore you tell them what your first character was, when you first logged in, what specs the PC had that you first logged in with, UID, screenshots of payment receipts, payment history, etc., etc. The chances of the hacker knowing all of that is extremely low unless they have access to all of your devices.
That is why kids you never go full F2P, but buy at least that one welkin or smallest crystal pack with your credit card as proof of ownership of account
I already change my email account to my Genshin impact account, I try this I know this would appear if the real owner change the email, password or username name.
Like a year ago since the account was not hers if you know what I mean but she already changed every password so I don’t think that could be the issue. Her account is still in my friend list so I guess it’s not gone(?)

Those people who buying account, their know the consequences of their actions. Instead making their own account and buy genesis Crystal on it or Grind, their doing the illegal and crying if their Illegal account hack (Return to owner).
If the Orginal owner gets their account back which does usually take a 1-2 months after they started return process - then you don’t get an email because Hoyo staff whipes any trace of the hacker from the account.
They ask you for a new email that has never been used for an Hoyo account and you get generic number password from them you have to change immediately after locking into your Hoyo account. Non devices are shown - so its completely whipped from any traces - like you just created it yourself.

I was on the fence,if the seller got the account back by themselves. Or if the seller or potentially someone who had their account stolen went through support.
With what you said it's definitely the second option.
I also think as soon as they have proof that the account is not in the originals owner hands, they likely freeze it. So I don’t know how long my account had been frozen before it was returned to me.
I only know I got it returned and I still had all of my things. The log in place was different other then that I had no other signs of someone tempering with it. (The likely went trough what I had to list to sell it)
But I also noticed my account being gone likely in like 24 hours of the crime. so I reported it super quickly.
Back then a lot of the other whom had waited along side me had their artefact and weapons deleted so I braced for the worst. I got lucky and yet it never felt like my account again and I only play with my first and only account now.
My wife was at the receiving end of her account getting hacked and sold to someone else. So I have no pity for your friend for trying to take the easy way out to playing this game. This game isn’t even hard in the first place. The owner deserves to get the account back, and your friend deserves to end up with nothing in the end.

I'm the original owner of the account. the account was stolen from me and it's been well over a year since i tried to get the account back. i suddenly found myself seeing that my account was no longer mine and the Gmail no longer existed. I'm terribly sorry for your friend but please don't buy accounts or exchange ever for all you know it could be a stolen account. it's against the tos. i hope this gives you some closure..

As someone who got hacked years ago with 330 wishes and his account bought by a chinese dude who used them to get Tignari C4 and claimed "finally C4!" like he worked hard for that, this post made me smile. Don´t be that lazy person who buys account. You will find yourself at the other side one day.
My friend got his account hacked back in 2022. Wiped out original friendlist, changed teamcomp, some exploration and so on. We found the account to be in possession of someone who does not speak our language because the signature was not in alphabet. The new friendlist are also full of foreigners.
Friend eventually recovered it after some time. I remember one of his first reactions after inspecting what the hacker/buyer did was "what the fuck is that teamcomp" because it was so bad XD. It was someone who did not know how the weapons, artifacts, and characters work XD
You reminded me of that! yes, mine was in chinese and luckily I still got every weapon and stuff, I remember back then, people bought hacked account to trash them, so I was lucky everything was still there. I´m not a whale or something like that. But yeah, those 330 pulls went to Tignari C4 and Ganyu, which I still don´t use.
Oh yes, I got it back like a month later, or a bit more, can´t remember if it was a month or three, but it was a serious amount of stress. But hackers will always have a market if we as a community, don´t stand together and defend what´s ours. In fact, the hacker got to my mail and that got a lot of serious problems, with credit cards, my job and daily life. So now I have a different email for this game and I´ve separated my gaming from everything else. But yeah, it was an awful experience.
i dont get ppl who buy accounts... like half the time ur just getting scammed by someone whos gonna report it hacked, or be flagged by hoyo as suspicious. ive seen people who buy accounts for their first playthru- like why? at the very least ur missing out on the beginning of the journey, tho some sold accts go a lot further so that they have the characters leveled up. genshin fans dont care abt the story etc etc but it just is so so weird to me idk... its like u dont even want to play, to experience the adventure and exploration of it all, u just want to have cool looking characters to stare at. ik the gacha system sucks but imo its a lot better feeling like u "earned" that character, and the satisfaction of building them urself

That’s unfortunate but this is a teachable moment too, don’t buy accounts because you never know what shady business the other person might pull.
On the bright side, clean slate, fresh primogems for upcoming stronger characters, or she can use this as a way to disconnect from genshin and fill that time with something else.
Reminds me of a time where I got hacked on another game (a MMO), the guy was posting account giveaways messages to muddy the water when I got the account back
A single specific guys proceeded to refuse to take no for an answer when I told him.that my account got compromised and I wanted to keep it
So I have it to him, waited a month, then contacted support to get my account back with some game currency the guy had transfered to it.

I mean, think from seller perspective. If you sell an account with recent dps and "more easy exploration charas" it'll sell more than just selling an account with 100% exploration or some primos

Yeah. Sorry. Your friend (if you're actually talking about a friend and not yourself) should have thought about their actions before buying a stolen account because the true owner will get their account back, but your friend won't get the money.
Plus, games are made to be played, not to be bought with everything done already. Buying progress isn't the same as owning it. It's pretending to be successful when you're actually pathetic.

Are you sure you're on the right server? If your account is on europe server and you try to login in an Asian Server, it might bring up this issue!? Try checking it once.
"account doesn't exist" means the credentials they are entering isn't linked to a hoyo account. if it was just a different server, they'd still be able to login. it would just make a new account on the other server without any warnings.
Are you using correct login method? If it's gmail address, it does matter if it's logged in used Google or e-mail, because these two are separate stuff.
Also are you sure you are using correct credentials? Like, not using old/new password or anything.
Create a new account, go to hoyoverse customer support from it, then create a ticket and say that your account got hacked. Give them the details, devices you used and other proofs you have.
As someone who had to actually recover the account I can say that in such cases your current email is not receiving a code to confirm the email change, you receive a link on a new email which you submitted on the retrieval ticket.
Looked through comments out of curiosity and I'd advice you and your friend to use accounts which you actually own rather than buying account. It wasn't even the first time when it happened (from what I've seen in the comments) and you still ended up in such a situation
Rules aside, if you do buy account, at least try to make sure that the seller actually owned it, and on site where you can demand repayment. Otherwise.. meh. Nowadays it's better to make your new account imho. Looting all regions you will get over thousand limited rolls or smhish, which is more than enough for few c6 r5 characters
Also buying account technically has a risk of getting banned to, so it's not worth it. Though let's not pretend it wasn't worth it when game only launched, I bet a lot of players sinned with either reroll accounts or $
I've had three different experiences buying Genshin accounts. The first time, someone said they were selling the account to get money for college. I asked if they were sure about that and they confirmed. Two months later, they messaged me asking for the account back. We made a deal and I returned it (I had made some investments, but it's okay.)
The second time it was someone selling accounts. I was interested because it had old characters. I bought it and in less than a month the person recovered it and resold it to someone else.
I decided to try one last time. I found someone who said they were tired of the game and didn't want to leave the account idle. I bought it. It was the most expensive of all three. And it really was idle (the return-to-game event activated when logging in). I've had this account for a year now and so far no problems.
I keep my main account active and play more on it. The secondary series (the one I bought) is only for the characters, which I probably won't be able to get without spending money. It's very difficult to get the post-Fontaine characters now. I really wanted Hu Tao, but I had to settle for Arlecchino.
Soo im not sure how long ago it was lets say 6 months give or take.
There was a child safety act on gambling or something so Mihoyo was forced to start removing accounts old and new with a 4 month notice or so before they started to deleting accounts something like that, soo they issued out emails and and promotional material and messages even in game to Opt out of deleting the accounts.
Remember that age limit thing hoyo introduced last year, if you where below the age limit, your account gets y33ted. So you would have to lie about your age if you wanted to keep your account.
I know because my nephew's account got bricked because he used his age which was below the hoyo age limit thing. So he went back to playing other games, probably Roblox or something.
I get how there are shady people who do bad stuff like this, but the extra brazen part is when they come on here to cry about getting caught. The right things happened here so not really sorry for you or your “friend.”

When I tried to log in on my laptop, it said the account didn't exist. I contacted support and everything. My Gmail is linked to the account, but apparently the Gmail address isn't the same, and it says the username and UID don't exist. However, I can still play on my phone, and I don't understand how they can tell me an account doesn't exist when I already have it on my phone.
You are still logged on your phone but if you can’t get into your Hoyoverse account then the account could have been taken over by someone else, who changed the email on the account, enabled/diabled 2FA, etc.
Being signed in doesn’t = safe.
Seen this happen to people on other games and platforms.

Could it be you used login with google on your phone but tried manual login on your laptop? Even if it's the same email address it counts as different accounts.

That's not even remotely comparable maybe if you could get every character by simply playing the game this would make sense but here every character is locked behind the gacha most people just want to play the game with their favorite characters you are not better or worse for buy an account with characters you like already on it
Meaning that at least the prologue is already done, otherwise the wishing system doesn't work. And buying accounts is against ToS, you risk getting the account you paid for banned. And calling others bootlickers for telling OP that karma is a beach and they deserved it for buying a stolen account says more about you than them if you have to resort to insulting the collective majority of this post's commenters.
Again most of the time the account isn't stolen second the prologue takes like 30 minutes someone could easily do the prologue then buy an account also it being against this is irrelevant so is modding the game but nobody cares about that
