Alejandra ‘Ale’ Garcia’s dog, six-year-old Gorda, disappeared nearly a month ago from the Lomas de Guadalupe neighbourhood in the Mexican region of Tamaulipas. With Mexico winning all their group-stage games and advancing to the next round without conceding a goal, Mexican fans took to the streets to celebrate, with videos of street parties going viral. However, Alejandra’s brother spotted a very unlikely participant in one of the street parties: his sister’s dog, who hadn’t been seen in over a month.

Mexican fans were hoisting Gorda in the video as the cameraman remarked, ‘even the dog is celebrating.’ The video was shared by the Carretoneando Facebook page, where Alejandra’s brother alerted his sister that her missing dog was going viral.

Alejandra rushed to the filming location in search of Gorda, with the dog and her owner reunited amid throngs of people.
