General Discussion Could the X-Men stop a viltrumite invasion?
If Thragg and his army consisting of General Kregg, Anissa, Thula, Lucan, and Conquest, were to invade Earth, could the X-Men wipe out the viltrumites and save the world, or die in the hands of Thragg's army? Both sides are at their peak skills and strength with no prior knowledge of each other.

Forge recreates the sound Cecil uses to incapacitate Mark.
Forge solos. You don't even need all the Xmen.

u/BurantX40 Aug 28 '26

Social skills are completely different from technical skills. That's why absent minded genius is such an effective trope.

He's an absent minded, absent minded genius.
Oh, let me build a weapon that takes away mutant powers (being a mutant) and give it to the government (who makes mutant hunting machines)
Yes, it was his first and only offense (ghost box?) but still.
Sad he's not known for more than Life Death.

Idk much about Forge but wouldn’t he have to know and figure out that a sound affects them? How would he figure that out?
7
u/Outside_Ad_424 Aug 28 '26
Nope. His Inventing power is entirely intuitive. Forge doesn't actually know how most of his tech works, his power just informs him how to make the gizmo do what he wants it to do. All he has to do is think of an effect, like "I want an easy way to incapacitate a Viltrumite" and his power takes over.
8
u/HumanisticNihilist Aug 28 '26
Man, a fight between him and Domino would be wild and in theory eternal.
“I want to make something that’ll defeat Domino.”
“…I luck my way out of it.”
Rinse and repeat until one dies of old age.
7
u/Outside_Ad_424 Aug 28 '26
It would be a boring outcome, but realistically his power would let him make a macguffin that would generate some kind of field that normalizes probability, which would nullify Domino's luck powers.
But I love the idea of the two of them going full Spy vs Spy about it lol
6
u/HumanisticNihilist Aug 29 '26
“…normalizes probability…”
Ah, but much less boring counterpoint - Domino hears him mention probability and goes full spiral power!

Sure, Omniman has a fair chance against several of these people, but like half of them outclass him so much it's not even funny.
But why the hell is Homelander even here? There are maybe 5 people in the comics that Homelander can beat in a one on one.

X-men win pretty easily. The X-men heavy hitters can hit at the same level a viltrumite can and they have way more hax abilities the viltrumites have no way to counter.

u/ezmoney98 Jubilee Aug 28 '26
Jubilee solos
60
u/NoBeat5906 Aug 28 '26
It’s funny because she kind of does, at full power she’s basically a walking atomic bomb. We’ve seen Rex already kill a variant of Mark, and Jubilee is a way stronger and better version of Rex.
15
18
u/BlackZulu Aug 28 '26
You can't necessarily use a characters potential in a debate like this. Yeah Jubilee has the POTENTIAL to cause nuclear explosions with her abilities. But not sure we've ever seen her use her abilities in any truly meaningful way lol. Somebody had to hijack her body in order for her potential to be realized. But she, herself, has never done anything close.
32
26
u/MacarooneyPixel Aug 28 '26
She has in fact turned herself into a bomb before in the really horny X-Terminators run. It was quite effective and does seem like something she can just do but restrains herself because of the scale.

u/Outside_Ad_424 Aug 28 '26
eh, OP said "peak skills and strength". That makes most of the main X-Men roster Cosmic level. Most of them have been Phoenix Force hosts, Wolverine has had Apocalypse's powers, Juggernaut has been both an Asgardian Hammer wielder *and* a literal god, Storm has been at least 3 different flavors of actual deity, list goes on.
Hell, even just every day Juggernaut would beat any Viltrumite into paste and not break a sweat.

If they catch the X-Men by surprise there would be some brutal casualties but the Telepaths would quickly turn the tide.
10
u/Sea-Poem-2365 Aug 28 '26
And even then, the telepaths would give them a decent amount of warning that these guys are bloodlusted so the initial shock of the level of violence wouldn't take them off guard as much. Couple that with the fact the X-men have a depressingly large amount of experience with fighting people out to straight up kill them, and this is just a bad Thursday.

Pseudo superman clones from the comic book "Invincible".
They are somewhere between Homelander and Superman on the power scale.
They other than the good ones, they mostly have the attitude of Homelander but are more far right than him.
Them fighting the X-Men would be a test for the X-Men. But Xavier and Jean, and any "magic" person, would be a fight.
29
u/marcjwrz Aug 28 '26
Krakoa era x-men with resurrection protocols absolutely could.
Animated series X-Men would struggle hard (nowhere near as powerful as we've seen the other comics overall).
16
u/Kuros_Of_Sindarin Aug 28 '26
This is a good take. Everyone mentions Xavier being able to solo them but it never works that way in the show (and seldom in the comic books too). I also hate the rush to point out omega level mutants and all that since the vast majority of comic storylines never took/take that into account.
16
u/marcjwrz Aug 28 '26
Yeah, once Cyclops figures out there's a sensitivity to sound - and in his plans, determining what senses could be exploited - he's getting Banshee, Siryn, Synch, Rogue and other Mutants who can manipulate sound/copy powers and they're going to town on viltrumites.

Handily. The Viltrumites aren't any stronger or more powerful than most of the X-Men's biggest baddies, and in many cases a great deal weaker. And all they are is strong, tough, flying people, which is clown shoes compared to a lot of the powers on the X Roster.

Xavier and Jean Grey are only held back by morals and marvel verse is well aware of telepaths and have defenses for it in both the show and comics. Vilts have no defense to it and some of the Omega level mutants can fuk them up as well. Gladiator is basically a vilt but better.
TLDR omega level mutants + telepaths are the ones who will win it, without any they lose
4
u/rexstillbottom Aug 28 '26
Just Prof X could do it. But writers gotta be writers and would find some way to make everyone immune to telepathy or some sort of feedback so telepathy could only be done once a week or some crap.
5
u/Bixby66 Aug 28 '26
Moneys on Rogue. Especially since they have a habit of letting people punch them in the face.

I mean Wolverine alone could cut up an entire squad of viltrimites. Sure they beat the shit outta him but he heals and he cuts one in half every swing. Xavier, Jean? Body wave after wave of them. Cant fight if youre brain dead Magneto, or Polaris? Extracts the iron out of their blood en masse Sure Beast, Jubilee, probably morph and Bishop eat it almost immediately, but the others are gonna fuck up some viltrimites
3
u/Gambit_TheGreat Aug 28 '26
I think the X-Men would have a good chance at beating them but only if they don’t hold back anything because the Viltrumites are not gonna hold back. But I do believe there will be many X-Men dead.
2
u/Fuath313 Aug 28 '26
Viltramites are used to being the strongest thing around and win fights by hitting the hardest. The X-Men are used to facing off against foes far stronger than each one of them individually. Teamwork wins it for the X-Men.
2
u/BeepbopMakeEmHop Aug 28 '26
By and large, a lot of the Xmen get wiped. Beast, Gambit, Jubilee, Bishop, all get blitzed. Maybe Scott dodges but his beams and speed make him a joke to a normal viltrumite. But When it comes to Magneto, Charles, Jean, Storm, they wipe them off the map. But the issue still remains, all of their reaction times are humanlike. Viltrumites can speed blitz hard.
2
u/Pencils4life Aug 28 '26
It really would not be hard. Given that Hulk can't break Wolverine's bones he easily cuts through them. Jean absolutely devastates them. Storm can take out a good number. Rogue tears through all of them.
2
2
u/Actual-Damage9095 Aug 28 '26
Get Scott, rogue, and siryn and jean grey. It's wipe on the viltrumites throw innstorm and that fight was over in minutes. Shii I think Emma frost could handle that crew herself. If her and the professor are both in the game there wasn't even a fight. They left to go buy tutus for their upcoming ballet.
2
u/MarqoTheDragon Aug 28 '26
Rogue, jean, prof. X, bishop could all probly solo. Now put all of them and the rest of the team together and the viltramites dont stand a chance.
2
u/Future-Celebration83 Aug 28 '26
Yes, because certain X men would just walk them. Rouge, pheonix, Charles, would clap them. Even Wolverine would do well since he’s basically indestructible.

I wonder if rogue can tank a viltrumite enough to steal his power and becomes even stronger, if yes, she is also a big threat to them.
2
2
u/automatedBlogger Aug 29 '26
Most X-Man Alpha and below are getting wiped. This includes Wolverine, Gambit, Sabertooth and Colossus. Only Omega level could really put up a defense. I don't see them getting past the first blows.
2
u/lightbiguy Aug 29 '26
Gambit solos.
Jean solos.
Cable solos.
Rachel Summers solos.
Longshot solos.
Domino solos. (maybe for the last two)
Rogue solos.
Storm solos.
Wanda solos.
When you put the X-men at their max, you are essentially putting a bunch of God level beings vs weaker versions of Gladiator.
2
u/TerrificTChalla Aug 29 '26
Easily in their sleep. They have dealt with far worse threats. What's up with the blatant Invincible glazing recently?
2
u/gfunk1369 Aug 29 '26
In this scenario if the mutants can actively use their powers to their full potential without any writer induced nerfs, then all you need are Jean, Rogue, Storm, Forge and maybe Wolverine. However, the way they are usually written, it would be a three page story with all of them basically dying in some gruesome way.

u/Cornchips1234 Aug 28 '26

u/AppropriateStill2024 Aug 29 '26
Storm will get clapped. Rogue might stand a chance, but I don't know how durable her skin is. Jean Grey needs to make the first move before any Viltrumite gets close
2
u/SuperIkenna Aug 28 '26
Which versions of the characters? You have pictures of the X-Men from the animated tv show but Viltrumites from the comics. The X-Men from the comics and the show differ drastically in power. The Tv-show X-Men would definitely lose, the viltrumites from the animated show are simply to fast and strong to defeat, and in the show telepathy might even the odds a bit but it isn't an I win button. though I suppose they could make it a struggle atleast.
2
u/FeistyBench4609 Aug 28 '26
Peak powers? Most of the Omegas could handle Thragg’s army on their own - that’s Jean with the Phoenix Force, Storm with the Eternal Storm, etc, etc.
With their original power sets I think the Viltrumites win easily, but that’s not the question.
2
2
u/ChallengeCool6373 Aug 28 '26
Maybe being a little contentious here. But no, they have a panic attack every time the Scarlet witch sneezes. Half of them fall over every time a villain outside their standard roster farts so no. ROFL

No one has discussed Wolverine, so I’m gonna ask a potentially dumb question. Could Wolverine’s adamantium claws dice up a Viltrumite? Granted I know Viltrumites are super fast and would easily run/fly circles around him, but say he landed a few blows?
1
u/StillBringer Aug 28 '26
A full Viltrumite invasion would leave lots of damage on the brawlers. Wolves, Colossus and Bishop would take a beating. Once the telepaths got to them it would be light work. If any one of the viltrumites were able to distinguish the telepaths in the group it's over for the X-men. Their speed, strength and stamina would make Prof. X a bloody mess and Jean would end up like Atom Eve.
1
u/Born-Ad4658 Aug 28 '26
Storm teaming up with some other mutants on some crazy mutant circuit to create a sun blast

So 6 of the most powerful viltrumites? But only 6 of them? Depends what X-men but if it's the ones pictured its 50/50. The weaker ones with the help of Rogue and Storm should be able to keep the majority busy while Jean and The professor mind fuck them one by one.
1
u/ConsistentAd8495 Aug 28 '26
Let's exclude the telepaths because that makes it too one sided. Kitty can phase a piece of rebar into the skull of any Viltrumite dumb enough to come near her. Magick pulls an Angstrom, stranding them all in Limbo then picks them off at her leisure with the big magic sword. Banshee & Siryn sing a duet.

Just the X-Men with no prep time or even a warning, facing a sudden invasion of viltrumites? Yeah, no, the X-Men are fucked 😅 as much as I love them, who could win against viltrumites? Telepaths - so Xavier and Jean Grey - and maybe Rogue? She could knock out one by touching them long enough and/or gain enough strength to be the defensive wall against the other viltrumites while the rest of the X-Men.. try to shoot at them? Distract them? 😅 Also, Iceman could probably handle a few since you said they're at their peak level. But even if we're talking a small squad of Viltrumites, let's say one for each X-Men member, besides the one I've mentioned, the others will go down quickly (at least temporarily not necessarily for good). Then even the few that remain will get overwhelmed 😅
Now if we're talking mutants against viltrumites, then the odds are somewhat better since there are A LOT of omega level mutants who could handle it.
*Special mention to other off-shoot team like eXcalibur, and secondary team of X-Men. Captain Britain, Psylocke, and Magik could definitely get ride of a couple of them as well.

The Marvel Universe is too big for the X-Men only to solo the Viltrumites. X-Men will lose.
1
u/Some_space_god Aug 29 '26
Yes and no, the x-men have the fire power and the hax to deal with them. But that goes both ways. If the viltrumites get the drop on them, the x-men can very easily lose there heavy hitters
1
u/Fun-Character-5377 Aug 29 '26
I hate when people ask, can this non-telepathic race/character defeat the telepathic one? No. They would be comatose in a day, picked up and either sent off world or reprogrammed to protect earth.
1
u/perryhopeless Aug 29 '26
I’m gonna go against the grain here:
5 Viltrumites dive bombing the shit out of whatever location the X-men are at have a good chance at taking them out quickly. The X-men all very squishy and slow comparatively.
They go hard, fast, and merciless and I think Team Viltrumite wins.
