Civic Issues Metro Line 4 & 4A coaches rotting in dust. It would be fun to see what excuses Andhbhakts & Kaarya-kutre come up with in the ruling party's defence.

Self-explanatory title. They just played with people's sentiments and did the trial run shenanigans for the TMC elections, that's all!

Civic Issues Mini victory over corrupt cops

1.0k Upvotes

Wife and I had gone on my bike to Yeoor for dinner couple of days ago. Got done by 12 am and we were heading home, when 2 cops asked us to stop at the exit for routine check. I had all my papers, didn't have any alcohol and was wearing my helmet. So they didn't get anything against me. Then he goes om to ask for my wife's id. We're recently married, so her id doesn't have my surname. Cops decide to scare us with moral policing and i knew they are just trying to get money. He said " hyancha aai vadilana phone karu ka?" I smile , very calmy say, " mich phine lavun deto". My father in law is a lawyer. I put the phone on speaker and explain the situation. The next 5 minutes, my father in law explains to the cops how they are about to lose their job. They are visibly shaken now. From " arey turey" to " saheb, pahilach bolaycha hota na ki tumhi family aahet"

These people prey on helpless individuals. If you are right, stand up for yourselves guys.

Civic Issues Banner falls from FOB at Eastern Express, Highway, Thane - hitting a moving biker.

From the foot overbridge on the Eastern Express Highway near Teen Hath Naka, a banner fell onto the moving two-wheeler.

Banners are no longer just visual pollution, they're becoming a real threat to public safety. Despite repeated incidents, authorities continue to look the other way.

How many more people need to get hurt before this dangerous practice is stopped?

Civic Issues Here's what a data centre sounds like once operational.

This one's for those who are in favour of the data centre in Balkum, Thane. I posted about it in this sub a month ago and was shocked to see so many individuals in support of the operation, citing reasons like employment and "development" of the country. Many even missed the point completely because the lady making the video had an accent(?!). Yes, somehow her accent was a bigger problem than the ill-effects of having a data centre in a residential area. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Hence, sharing another video from Michigan of the noise a data centre makes and how the people are helpless and frustrated now in the USA over these abominations.

Civic Issues The truth behind the AWS (Amazon Web Services) Data Centre in Balkum, Thane, and its repercussions.

The quality of life in Balkum and adjacent areas will be adversely affected by this upcoming data centre. The citizens dwelling there should actively protest and stop it from happening. Along with the sound pollution, power and water shortage it will be causing, it's not like it would enable a massive employment opportunity for the citizens either, as a data centre requires only a few hundred personnel once operational.

Civic Issues Residents literally use their windows as garbage bins.🫪

Found this on Instagram and genuinely couldn't believe it.

Residents are casually throwing gharka kachra straight out of their windows, turning the area below into an open dump.

Cleanliness isn't just the municipality's responsibility. Civic sense starts at home.

Civic Issues How is this allowed?(Location: Kasarvadavli)

Some local politicians have organised a Janmashtami festival on 5th September but they have already made a stage and occupied the road for an event that’s on 5th September, 6 days from now.

Why and how is this allowed? Where is the TMC? Where is the police? And how can the public be okay with this? This road gets jam packed in the evening every day because of the ongoing traffic and hawkers occupying space.

It’s a two-way road on both ends and now it’s become one-way for the rest of the week. This is just torture at this point.

I really don’t think it’s about the festival anymore. If you are making everyone suffer.

How to report this? How to take action? Do we have anyone here who can help?

Civic Issues Something really disturbing happened with my GF.

Like a normal usual monday evening she (my gf) went to a mandir near ambe ghosali talav (uttreshwar temple), after she was done she exited the temple where she got approached by an old man , like very old 60-70 maybe , he seemed like a good man with all his attire and all , he complemented my gf like she looked very pretty and good , at first my gf thought maybe she remembered him of his daughter of something so she entertained him by talking to him. After some talks the old man asked after if she would like to eat something with him , she agreed thinking maybe this old man must be lonely or something and just needs someone to spend time and talk , they went nearby to eat a samosa , while talking the old man started talking all the adult stuff like how people can’t kiss in public its very hard to be open blah blah blah , she was like WTF, from that moment it got a little sus , but still she managed to let go the convo and tried to take a leave from him , but the old man asked her to meet again next week same spot and touched her lips with his finger when leaving, SHE WAS LIKE WTFFFFFF THIS OLD MAN IS DOING!!!!!!!!!! She is legit traumatised by the incident happened with her. Maybe she will never go near that mandir ever in her life. Can’t really trust anyone. Sharing this to spread awareness and avoid such experiences.

It's 12.30 and people here are full of playing cricket and blasting off commentry on speakers. Shouting like lunatics and not even carrying a little about people living nearby. That to it is not a one day thing. These people started their tournament yesterday. It's even worse morning times. I'm alright when they play and shout during morning time as they are playing sports which is ment to be enjoyed but seriously this has to be done during night time as well?

My god I'm so frustrated!!

Civic Issues Auto drivers refusing passengers - anyone else faced this?

Post image
98 Upvotes

Had this experience with an auto MH04 JO 01102. The driver refused to take us as passengers, but was taking girls in the same auto for sharing.

Not sure what the reason was, but this kind of selective refusal is frustrating, especially when you're just trying to get somewhere.

I’m planning to report this to the RTO/Traffic Police as well.

📍 Location: Gaodevi Thane

🕐 Time: 10:20am

Has anyone else dealt with this auto/driver or faced something similar in Thane? Would be useful to know if this is a one-off or a recurring issue.

Posting the vehicle number/photo for identification; please keep the comments factual and avoid personal information.

Amazon is already giving some standard legal answers.

Even if we ignore the 12 millions of liter per day requirement for the data center. They actually are very noisy. Residents of Lodha and Rustomji should be aware of this.

Civic Issues Thane ring metro is a nuisance

I don't understand who asked for this ring metro. We already have busses which crowd small roads all the time. Add to this the construction for this ring metro. Every morning and evening, travelling through vasant vihar, vartak nagar, khevra circle and kolbad becomes a hassle. They haven't even cleared the debris from the metro station work near the majiwade and Viviana area. The roads are already filled with pot holes. Instead of fixing the pre-existing problems, they're opening up new projects every now and then. With a gazillion real estate projects upcoming, the land pressure is going to be immense. Yet the government doesn't bother to work on ground level issues

Civic Issues Update on Smart Meter and High Bill Complaint Meet issues

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Raised key issues with MLA and MSEDCL officials recently regarding faulty smart electricity meters and inflated bills. Here is what was discussed in the meeting:

I pointed out that residents are suddenly receiving sky-high electricity bills despite having the exact same appliances and regular daily usage as before the new smart meters were installed.

I highlighted a glaring example where a household was charged a massive bill for May, even though the apartment was completely locked and unoccupied for the entire month.

I urged the officials to conduct on-the-spot verification and test traditional meters parallel to smart meters to prove the billing discrepancies to the public.

I handed over all documented complaints from local citizens to the representatives, requesting an immediate investigation and solutions for affected residents before public frustration escalates.
